Cody and I swung in here last night for Happy Hour/dinner. This place has been on my to try list for a while! Love the fact that they have HH 7 days a week! We arrived around 5:30 on a Sunday afternoon, mentioned we wanted HH, so they said it was either bar area or outside. Since it was a sunny nice day, we opted outside! (It was VERY sunny, I think Cody even got sunburnt, don't forget your sunglasses!) We ordered: - HH 2 Pacific Oysters (raw $2/pc) - HH Oyster Gratin (comes with 3 oysters) - HH Salt & Iron Fries (poutine) - HH Whole Wings - a bowl of chowder - a side of herb risotto My top favorite dishes of the night: 1) Oyster Gratin 2) Salt and Iron Fries 3) Whole Wings!! I love baked oysters and these ones were super tasty and delicious! The fries were probably one of the best poutines I have had. And as for the wings, I can never find fish sauce wings outside of Portland, these were def drool worthy. As Cody said after we dined "I would have been happy with 2 orders of the Salt & Iron Fries and 2 orders of the wings" lol. As for the meh dishes, we were not impress with the chowder or the risotto. To me, the chowder needed more flavor. Cody liked how creamy it was, but also added it needed more flavor. I didn't like the risotto either, can't put my finger on it, maybe needed more flavor as well? Not sure. Overall, I would def come back and need to try the steak next time! read more

Almost a year later...and I still can't understand the service here. The hostess was nice at first but once we realized happy hour was only in the bar or outside, we asked to move (nicely) but I could tell neither the server or hostess were happy, which I understand but it gets worse... We got seated outside but the server didn't even acknowledge us for a good 5 minutes, then came to bring us waters and left again. Another 5 minutes goes by and we try to get her attention by making eye contact, closing our menus to indicate we're ready, but instead she walks by us and makes us wait longer. I'm not sure if it's because we look young and like we don't have money or if we weren't Caucasian...but this restaurant's service has major problems. I love the progressive happy hour deals and their food is almost always great, but their service irks me!! read more

Stopped by Salt and Iron for brunch and ate outside at a table with a heater. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and a salmon toast to share. The picture of the b&g is only half and does not show the potatoes. The addition of the corn in the gravy was a plus. It was sooo good. The salmon toast was also 5 star! The roasted or fried capers were ingenious and delicious. If this wasn't STOP #1 on our mini restaurant crawl we would have ordered more. We WILL be back! read more

The French toast was very simple and slightly heavy on the cinnamon side. Pretty basic and good but not sure if I'd order it again. Not featured is the chicken fried chicken that my husband ordered which comes with a big side of grits topped with eggs. Both dishes were large in portion size and good for sharing. This place is a cute brunch spot with a nice bar area also. My husband and I come here often when we want to go on a nice brunch date. Inside has a fancier vibe which is also great for date night. read more

It was out first visit here, and it was nice. Location wise it is in the heart of Edmonds on Main Street, within a few minutes of the beach. Externally and the interior has a modern and simple aesthetic. There was free parking on the street, but definitely not a lot of it and nothing designated for the restaurant, like in the back. So either carpool or try to get here sans car preferably. We had a reservation for seven, arrived early and were seated a little bit after seven. So that was pretty good. Our service was fairly average. It took a while to get our orders, after that about a twenty to thirty minute wait on the food, which came out all at once. Then a while to check out. Our waters were refilled once, but our table was kept clean. I would say per average service wise, nothing epic or memorable or personable to that degree. Food was plated beautifully. Appetizers are perfect portions but not necessarily perfect for sharing. Prices around 10-40 per item so upper part of medium pricing. Menu was very brief with a focus on steak and seafood. They do have a cocktail menu here, so that is pretty awesome. Overall everything tasted pretty great. There wasn't anything I didn't like. I might come back here to try something from the entrees to see how it compares. read more

We started with the Asparagus & Burrata, but the Seafood Pot was terrific! Clams, mussels, shrimp atop potatoes and corn in a wonderful soup base. Never enough bread to soak up the soup! read more

My go-to restaurant to celebrate life events. The food is almost as wonderful as the staff.

Everything was so good! Our group ordered so much stuff. The avocado Benedict, the chicken fried chicken, the chilaquiles, cheddar jalapeño biscuits, the mushroom Florentine and more. It was all delicious. Our food wasn't hot, not even warm. Only con. But it was great and we will be back! Drinks are a plus too! read more

Had a wonderful first time at this restaurant last night. Excellent service. Started with oysters, small but fresh and served perfectly. Then moved on to a Citrus Salad with Fog Cheese which was bright, had a lot of complex flavors snd presented well. Then the pork chop special with the surf and turf add on. The presentation snd the scallops, shrimp, green beans and potatoes were excellent. The pork chop was good, however slightly over cooked. Wine and cocktails were also very good snd seemed reasonable for the price. All in all a very nice experience and would highly recommend. We will be going back soon for the seafood pot which looked amazing! Not real excited about a 3% surcharge added to the bill. I still can't figure out why high end restaurants are doing that. I get that COVID costs everyone, but if you want to rebuild business then don't do add-on fees. If you h lave to change your prices then do so, but don't sneak in add on costs at the end. All it does is leave your servers with potentially lower tip percentages and the customer with a negative last impression. Thanks again for a great experience. read more

Service was good and so was the calamari (although maybe too many peppers substituting for calamari). But the $32 crab salad was a huge and expensive disappointment. There was barely any crab in it and what was in it was stringy, sparse and previously frozen bits of tasteless crab, I guess (hard to tell, frankly). The rest of the salad was fine but when you pay $32 for a crab salad, you should get fresh crab in amounts that justify the price. read more

I devoured this plate so fast it was delicious! The flavor was amazing, portion size was great and presentation was beautiful. The restaurant was packed, so the service was a bit slow... but our server was kind and knowledgeable. I would come back for a nice occasion and probably order this exact thing again. Loved the plates too. read more

Sad!!! Had high hopes for this restaurant. Come here if you want inattentive yet rushed, non-service. Frigid hostess gave us the most Unwelcome. Might as well ordered our meal to go. It was a Birthday celebration disaster. Food was barely adequate. Waiter was awkward and then completely absent. They were aware of my mothers birthday and they didn't even offer for us to order a dessert , but happily brought boxes for us to leave while we were still eating. We really wanted to love this restaurant but will most likely never return. Good Luck read more

Nice cozy and warm atmosphere. It is a dim area. Only one bathroom area for both men and women diners of about 60 (based on my observation) . So be aware if you drink a lot of water and/or have many drinks, you might have to wait like I did. Indoor and outdoor seating and there's also an area for a bar. People can reserve a table before hand to prevent waiting. Not so much socially distance (tables within 6 feet apart), mask required. Smoked salmon $18 with bread, pickles and onions is very delicious and great. I was craving for some smoked salmon and it definitely hit the spot. Not too salty and did not leave an aftertaste. A dozen oysters $3-4 each are what it's expected, fresh and delicious especially with the red sauce and lemon it comes with. Wild King Salmon $35. Beautiful display with salmon, mashed potatoes, vegetables blend. Very unique not the traditional separation with the food. The taste is delicious with the blend of the mash potatoes and vegetables (spinach, string beans, tomatoes, olives). I believe there is also red vinaigrette dressing mixed in. It's probably my best salmon dish I've tasted and seen. Seafood Pot $32. Delicious palate with a mixture of shrimp, muscles, clams, potatoes, onions and corn. Didn't eat too much since it was my dates dish. Waiter Ryder is exceptionally good. Very pleasant, comes back regularly to check up on us, has a 'smiling eyes' appearance and is very professional. Overall grade 9/10 due to the deliciousness and display of their food, and great customer service. It would be 10/10 if the host didn't mention that we had to leave our table 8:15pm because another group reserved the table (however Ryder stated that we didn't have to rush and the host that I talked to was mistaken, wish I knew earlier since I didn't feel rushed before hand) and only one bathroom for both men/women. read more

Service was great, so I had to give 3 stars. Our waiter was awesome. However, The food was mid..I was expecting so much more. I really love bone marrow and order it at pretty much every restaurant, but for some reason Salt and Iron didn't produce. We also had the shrimp n risotto which was also subpar..no flavor. Same with the seafood plate sadly no flavor. The best diwas a small filet with mash under the apps section. Overall, ambiance was nice just wish food was better. read more

I highly recommend coming here for their happy hour! The oysters are less than $2 and the happy hour menu is amazing! I would definitely come back for the happy hour again. read more

Updated review 10/25/18: Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30pm this time and was surprised to find it completely packed with many tables with kids. We sat in the bar area this time and tried out the happy hour thinking it would be quicker to be on our way if we didn't wait for a table to open up. Unfortunately with only two people working the back area the service was still quite slow. I waited about 15 minutes before I could even flag down a server to refill my water glass at one point. The young folks they have working here are really sweet but could use a little more attention to detail - keeping water glasses full is one of the first lessons in Restaurant Service 101 and they should really be on top of that. Ideally any floaters should be in charge of refilling water around the whole restaurant. But as for food, the oysters were pure perfection! The server convinced us to try the seasonal dessert and we are so glad he did - it was delectable! I will have to come back to try out their brunch so I can see what other delicious menu options are available - I have heard wonderful things about it! read more

Amazing!! When I told my wife that I want to take her on a date, she suggested this place in Edmonds. I don't usually come to Edmonds because I have no business down here but I trusted her and decided to give this place a try. It was happy hour and they had a lot of different options on the menu. The drinks were ok but the food was amazing!! Amazing!! We had 2 beef sliders and 1 steak slider along with the herb fries and I am honestly lost for words. How does a place like this prepare a food this good, this is a perfect example of how you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I will def. be coming to this place again in the near future. And also, the service was beyond expectations and we couldn't be any happier. And dogs not allowed inside, just as an FYI, our little puppy waited outside. read more

We went back to give Salt and Iron another chance after Robert, the manager reached out to me. We had a fantastic meal. We started out with the bone marrow and the truffle fries. I had never had bone marrow before and wasn't sure if I would like it. It was delicious. The fries were great, I really liked the roasted garlic with them. I chose the steak salad for dinner, my wife got the truffle risotto with steak, and our niece got the pork chop. Everything was delicious. For dessert, we split the rhubarb sherbet. The service was fabulous and the entire meal was great. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the black cod and the seafood chowder. read more

Salt and Iron used to be the place I took friends for special occasions, in the knowledge that dinner would be something interesting and very good. Last night's dinner of mussels and clams (virtually all mussels; I counted three very small clams) was good but not the wow! expected. The Alaska Wild Salmon was Freezer Tame Salmon - very little flavor and rather chewy. The red sauce seemed overpowering and did not get along with the faint flavor of the salmon. Nice waitstaff. Very expensive given the quality. And very, very noisy. I'll come back, based on past experience, but if there is no improvement... read more

Really good food, really good service, in such a cute little area in Edmonds. We are repeat customers and love this place for date night

I have been coming to Salt and Iron for several years and it never disappoints. I would love some more vegan options, especially for brunch, but do love the grain bowl (no eggs). It's more substantial than I expected and is super tasty. The bartender also makes a great iced americano with a bit of homemade vanilla syrup and oatmilk. My husband and kids love the cinnamon roll (it's huge!) and the Benedicts. I worried about bringing my young kids in, but it is very kid friendly and the staff are super accommodating. Love this spot! read more

Salt & Iron lives up to the hype. Made a reservation for 6 and was seated promptly. The hostess was lovely and personable and lead us to a cozy booth meant for two. We visited Salt and Iron for Father's Day brunch. The food was excellent and they ensured our children felt a part of the meal. A mistake was made in that I was brought the wrong main course, but they profusely apologized and with care, made me the correct entree. Afterwards, the manager even called to apologize for the mistake. This is our first time in years that there has ever been an order mistake and they went above and beyond to make things right. Met a friend for lunch. She lives close by and she doesn't like spicy or many ethnic foods. So I decided to make it simple and make sure we eat someplace where she would be able to find food she likes. Husband & I had never been to this place so we decided this could be a good place to meet. We always thought it was more of a steak kind of place. Much to our surprise, they do have quite a variety of foods. I ordered a bowl of the seafood chowder. Husband ordered the SW tortilla soup. Our friend ordered a salad. It was a cool Summer day and I didn't see anyone sitting inside so we decided to eat inside. They do have outside seating, but the temperature outside was in the low 60's. Everything seemed clean. Employees were masked and wore gloves. Tables are all socially distant. Staff were all very pleasant. We sat there for 2 1/2 hours talking & getting updated with each other. No one bothered us except to bring more coffee & water. Our waitress did make a point several times to say we could stay as long as we wanted and didn't have to rush off. So we did, stay that is! We will definitely come back! I saw a few other things on the menu I would love to try. read more

Salt and Iron - 5 types of oysters and salmon tartare - Seafood Near Me - Edmonds, Washington

Our first time here and it did not disappoint! Right in the heart of downtown Edmonds, we had reservations at 8pm, we arrived 15minutes early and they told us we would be seated at 8PM but we only waited 10mins before they called us in so that was nice! It was a busy weekend in Edmonds, I think there was a concert going on, there was no parking but we found one and the walk to the restaurant was no more than 5 minutes. The air smelled of seafood, the sun was setting, it almost felt 'normal' to me (post pandemic so it was nice to see smiling faces again) The restaurant was a tight squeeze but it was pretty much at capacity, it was loud but not a big deal, I was still able to hear what my husband was saying without him shouting. Our table was at the bar, it was really cool to see the kitchen, they had a huge open, window and you can see the back the of the house cooking! The menu was pricey - BUT worth it. The cocktail menu was amazing; I had one lemon drop and 2 spicy mango's, SO GOOD. My husband is a self-proclaimed beer coinnessuer, so he drank whatever (lager, hef I dont know LOL) We started off with appetizers; he got Steak Tartar and I got crunchy calamari, very good portions. Wait till you see the actual dinner portions. He got a steak, I forgot which one but it was $110, but let me tell you, it was worth it. As a typical wife, I ate his food; the steak was medium rare and amazing, the mashed potatoes were 'whipped' (LOVE mashed potatoes) I got the Berkshire Pork chop with corn, I give that a 9/10 (I could've asked for more sauce but I was too lazy, I know crazy) our server was amazing, very knowledgeable with the menu. I couldn't hear his name but it was either Tyler or Tyrone, never met a white dude with the name of Tyrone so I'll bank that it was Tyler; Ty SOMETHING but he was awesome. We had a great time, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was great. Good thing we live in Lake Stevens because if we lived closer, I'm sure we would be there every weekend read more
