Unfortunately, this NOT the same Salsa Brava prior to COVID. Don't know if COVID had any impact, but definitely not the same food. The first tell tale sign was that the restaurant was pretty empty at 4:30pm on a Saturday night! I made reservations at 5:30pm thinking it would be crowded as previously experienced and the wait would be long. Even after we completed our meal, the restaurant was pretty empty. Previously, everything was creative and flavorful! This pass Saturday, I ordered the Classic Carnitas. It was OK, very ordinary that's available at many Mexican restaurants. Also, the "all you can eat" salsa bar is GONE! I looked towards the wall for the awesome salsa bar and saw additional seats. I asked the waiter "is the salsa bar gone?" He said "yes", but I could order additional salsa as needed. All the different salsas is what made Salsa Brava... BRAVA!" Making it worse, an additional order of chips and trio salsa for the table incurred an additional charge of $5. Lastly, look for an additional 4% Flagstaff Service Charge on your bill. Not the Salsa Brava's charge, but something to consider. I will always remember Salsa Brava like it used to be. read more

Came for lunch and was greeted right away and offered a table near the back of the restaurant. Erika was our waitress and she was wonderful! We tried all three salsas and loved them all, I love spice and the pineapple habanero was delicious! We tried the Sangria Swirl and Prickly Pear Margarita- both were delicious and well balanced with liquor in both drinks! We decided to share the stuffed sopapilla and so glad we shared it- it was ginormous and we both couldn't even finish our half! A little pricey - but we shared so not a big deal. We were seated right away. The waiter Ben couldn't be nicer. He asked our salsa preference and took our drink order. We asked for a recommendation and he gave us three options. This recommendation came from a family member who visited 6-7 months earlier. Glad to have been steered in the right direction. Authentic Mexican food served with generous portions. Outstanding quality. I had the Mole Enchiladas when there. Mole isn't for everyone, but if you like it, be sure to have it here. The service was prompt and friendly from start to finish. The service was above par, the food was good, the ambience was good. Some of my own personal expectations were met, there was not a single Latino working at salsa brava as far as I could tell. All white, one exceptionally good black waitress. The point is, I didn't feel like I was eating at a for real Mexican restaurant. When a meal begins with three different salsas, this girl is a happy camper. There was a Pineapple habanero, chipotle red sauce and a pico to snack on before our entrees. We live in Tucson and are in flag for the weekend. Ate at Fat Olives last year and loved it. Decided to try Salsa Brava since they share the same ownership as Fat Olives. Food was absolutely inedible. The chicken looked like wet cat food, the rice was horrible and my daughter's kids burger was definitely microwaved. Everything seemed to have been reheated and was still cold. We barely ate anything, just paid the bill and left. On top of this we sat in the entry forever before being acknowledged and it took a long time to be waited on once we were sat and they weren't busy. We were planning to go back to Fat Olives tomorrow but sadly I don't think we will go back there now either. read more

Went for lunch and had the carnitas tacos, kid had the Navajo taco. Very good, and the salsa is some of the best in the west. I'm used to california Mexican cuisine, which holds a high standard, but these folks did really well with quality and service, and suffice to say there was nothing left after. Rice and beans are important, and both were excellent. My son had flan for dessert and he's a budding critic, and he said it it was top notch. I wouldn't know since he ate it all in like 3 bites. Ordered the cheese crisp with green chili, Carne Asada Street tacos, and a Navajo taco. Didn't like any of it. Flavor was not authentic and lacked pizazz. One of our favorites in Flagstaff. The wife and I stoped in on a recent trip and were not let down. She had been waiting for her favorite, the lobster and shrimp enchilada's. I opted for the Navajo taco. I had never been able to finish one before but I did this time. Some slight changes to the menu but that is ok. The biggest disappointment is the absence of the salsa bar. I really miss that with the great selection of salsas. Now you only get two. read more

Services and ambiance are terrific, no issue there. Guy came here 17 years ago and I imagine what he tasted then was much different. We ordered one of his specific tastings and with my 25 year experience in Mexican food in the southwest i was not impressed. Upon entering we were seated immediately. Our server was fantastic. He was not only very positive but just very helpful and had some recommendations for our day trip to Flagstaff. I ordered the carnitas combo which was delicious. The pork wasn't dry and the rice and beans were nicely flavored. The pineapple like salsa was my favorite. Even though I'm on keto, I tore it up and it didn't tip the scales! Our friend had their wedding dinner rehearsal at Salsa Brava last weekend. At first glance, this place did not look like much, especially from the outside. But when we arrived at 630PM on a Friday evening this place was packed. So much so, that there were not enough tables available for our wedding party. Our party ended up overflowing to the bar area. Like I said, the restaurant was packed full of people. Our party took up about 10 tables. We only had 1 server. I could not understand why none of the other servers came to help me. My table was one of the last tables for him to get to, by this time we had been seated for almost 40 minutes. Despite all of that, our server was amazing. He just appeared to be overwhelmed with the amount of people. The saving grace of this place, thankfully was the food. Once we ordered, the food came out fast and it was delicious. I had the lobster and shrimp enchiladas. My daughter had a chimichanga and my wife had a beef taco salad. There were no leftovers, which is not normal for us. They used a white sauce on most of the meals which was just fantastic. Based on the food, I would highly recommend this place. They might be understaffed and that could explain some of the frustration. But it was worth the wait. Being from San Diego, I am looking forward to an opportunity to eat here again. read more

Without reservations, we hit this place for happy hour when we got into town. The only available seating was at the bar, which we were fine with. The two bartenders/servers were friendly and helpful. My husband got one of the beers they had and we ordered a couple different tacos. The Baja fish ones were fantastic, with a generous portion of crispy fish with the normal toppings in a slightly fried tortilla. The shredded smoked chicken ones were full of the meat, with normal toppings in a flour tortilla. Both were flavorful. It'd be fun to try some of their meals sometime. read more

It's been a moment since I've been to this place always love coming to this place while I'm up here. The food here is great. I got the Navajo taco which Guy Fieri got while he was at this place. It came out great perfect no complaints. Your service was all right. The lady checked on us as much as she could. We had a party of seven so it was not right. Just be careful with the larger parties, they do add gratuity. I believe over parties of five. The ambience in the police was good decent. You could hear a little music in the background and still were able to keep up the conversation that your table without having new talk loud or super loud move over people. All in all love this place highly recommended if you have any Flagstaff on route 66. They have other good things chimichangas your classic Mexican part. The only thing that love is kind of bummed about was they got rid of the salsa bar? Not sure how long it's been but each have nice salsa bar up there other than that. Stopped in for a working lunch as my truck windows were getting tinted. It was an odd time (2pm) so the restaurant was virtually empty. The service was very friendly and prompt. I ordered a shrimp taco and the spinach enchiladas. Both dishes are very good and portion size was decent. It's also served with chips and salsa which was served with three different types of salsa. You're the chip to my Salsa Brava! I was looking for a good lunch spot to break up the driving from Sedona to the Grand Canyon. When I saw that Guy Fieri ate here, I had to try it. I'm a huge DDD fan! Back to the food, the chips and salsa were awesome. I was BORN TO BE MILD so I liked the pico de gallo and tomatillo salsa the best. The tomatillo salsa had a hint of sweetness which was excellent! The best dish for us was the peach and habanero carnitas tacos. I like the sweet and salty stuff. I couldn't taste the habanero. Everyone raves about the stuffed sopapilla, however, I thought it was not as good as the tacos. It is like a big calzone stuffed with a meat of your choice, cheese and beans. Definitely a heavy dish, which is why my partner got super sick. He says I should have given this a 4 star review. Since I'm writing the review and I liked the food, I'm giving this a 5 star review. Waitress was.ok. Food came out in about 5 mins and everything was room temp. Was the burrito microwaved? Nothing was hot including the cheese inside. I was scared when the delivery person handed my daughters plate directly to her. In any other Mex restaurant, the first thing they say it the plate is hot. Nope not this time. Finally I've tried a restaurant from Food Network's Diner's Drive-ins and Dives in the States! It did not disappoint! We ordered what Guy ordered, Stuffed Sopapilla and our server's favourite, Peach Habanero carnitas. Dropped in accidentally on the perfect time, Happy Hour during Monday Margaritas and their Casa Margaritas are only $3.5~. I love the complimentary chips and three types of quality salsa provided. After trying the naked carnitas, I think having it as tacos is the way to go! The trade-off I made for the naked, is getting a bit more meat instead of more toppings. I realized later that the mango salsa provided is not enough, so I had to order more mango/peach salsa on the side to balance the protein. The tortillas are provided on the side, even if I chose the naked option. The stuffed sopapilla is humongous and something you have got to try. Even if you don't have room left, I suggest you order the sopapilla (dessert) to go. It's a stretched fried dough with some cinnamon sugar and honey on the side. We're glad we didn't skip out on it as it was only $3.25 for a large takeout box full of it. We took it on the road to the next city. The server is super friendly and seems to know what I wanted, like more mango salsa, without being asked! I wish we had something like this in Toronto! read more
