Their groupon requires you to make an appointment that they can't even get right! Huge waste of time. Jetted here after work in the loop ( took me an hour) to get there right on time for my appointment and i walk in and they had no idea why i was there. I had made my appointment only 3 days prior and they managed to write down the wrong name, even though i spelled it for who ever answered the phone, put it on the wrong day, thusday instead of tuesday. They asked me what service i was getting, because they didn't write that down, probably because their only reservation system is 2 pieces of loose-leaf paper stapled together and scribed on, and i told her a hair cut and full highlights. Her response was that my orignial appointment time wasn't even enough time for my service. So they got my name, date and time wrong and offered nothing in return for messing up so drastically. Luckily i got a refund from groupon, because they have horrible customer service and don't care to improve. So maybe a decent salon if you can actually get in. read more

I've been going to Eva for 5+ years as my hair stylist and for eyebrow threading. She always does an amazing job! She's even fixed a major mess-up when I've tried going to one of the many posh expensive salons in the city, I won't make that mistake ever again. The place was dirty. They never introduced me to my stylist and they hardly spoke to me. They never bothered to ask if I spoke Spanish while they conversed beside and behind me... I understood almost everything they said. My highlights were the wrong color and they did not reach my scalp, so now they look about two weeks old three days after getting them done. I had to go to another salon to get my hair recut due to it being a horrible cut and uneven. There were children running around and hitting each other without any adult intervention, their mother was one of the stylists. Save your money, time and hair... Go to an Aveda salon, it is worth it if you want to have a good hair color and cut. read more

So I can't say much for getting a haircut here if you have long hair but I can speak for females with short hair... This is not the place for you. I just needed something fast and cheap (I usually go to Mops Beauty Shop...Ask for Khloe if you go. She's a master at short and long... Well at it all!). Well sorry Khloe!!! Please tell me to stop experimenting! First off clippers were used to shorten my hair on the sides and back. Then the longer part of my hair wasn't even blended into the part he used clippers on. So basically I had a bowl haircut but uneven. Then I asked for some of the body to be taken out because I have thick hair... He took none out. I have short hair that I like to look soft and feminine. It didn't look like either of those things... I had to get my hair fixed elsewhere on short notice because I figured Khloe was booked up... The person that ended up cutting seemed frightened when I took off my hat to show her... That's how bad it was. So this place would get five stars for making me waste my whole day getting my hair fixed. However they are getting 1 for the haircut. Ugh. read more

Be careful about going here. I purchased two Groupon's for this place for $130 worth of salon credit each with the intent of getting mink lashes. I should've known from just looking at the website to beware. There are typos all over the site (and their in-store sign), and at least 3 different prices for mink lashes. I contacted them via text to clarify, and got only cryptic responses and no reply towards the end. Frustrated, I had a friend call instead - maybe there were just communication issues. The rates she received over the phone were completely different as well. Regardless, since we had already bought the Groupons, we went ahead with making the appointment. In hind sight I should have just gotten​ a refund from Groupon. We set the appointment for 10am on a Saturday (supposedly when the salon opens, according to both yelp, website and store front sign) but NO ONE was there. We waited half an hour and still nothing. We went to get some food in hopes that on our way back maybe the salon would be open. Huzzah! It was (at 11am now). When we walked in we let the lady know we had 10 am appointment's, all she asked was, "what did you want to do?" Clearly making an appointment is pointless. Next we paid the full amount for full mink lashes, I'm pretty sure all we got was a partial set. I'm sure they're fine for haircuts, but once we were done with the lash service we peaced out of there despite having a TON of salon credit left over. Probabaly the most awful salon experience I've ever had, and most certainly not ever going back. read more

Very nice people. Very bad haircut. I had a $50 groupon for a cut & highlights. I asked for just a couple thick streaks of blonde in my hair and I ended up with thin highlights dispersed throughout my whole head. I have very dark hair and it made me look very tacky. As for the hair cut, I wanted a slight trim with some layering, and I wanted it shorter in the back than in the front. The young woman who cut my hair literally pulled all my hair to my back and cut a straight line. When I got home, even my boyfriend said that it looked very bad. They are very nice people, but they seem to have problems communicating with their clients. I wish the other negative reviews weren't filtered, because they echo my experience almost exactly. read more

This place is not a nice salon at all. I did not have a good experience here, and regret even trying it out. I went in with the intention of having my hair cut and colored for the holidays. The two women who were there didn't really know what they were talking about when it came to the color. They kept speaking back and forth to each other in Spanish and not really including me in the conversation. They made the decision to not do color. Then came the haircut. I showed the older woman a photo of the cut I usually get, she looked at it for 5 seconds, and then proceeded to cut all of my hair with thinning shears. WHAT. No. My hair is short and not blended at all in the back. It's almost like I didn't get a haircut because I have to go get another cut already and it's been 3 weeks. She didn't even LOOK like she knew what she was doing. 1 star for still letting me use the groupon, even though they didn't color my hair. Do not expect much here. Eva is a genius with color. I have a lot of gray requiring a touch up every three weeks. My friend suggested L&E. I've been nervous about going from dark to lighter hair, but Eva did highlighted in stages. They blend with and hide the gray beautifully. Also, the cut is contemporary and fresh. She knows what to do! Lots of compliments from people I've known forever. Prices very reasonable. I'm a fan of this laid-back, family-oriented storefront! This is a review for eyebrow threading and hair color only. I never personally got a haircut here before but my mom did once and it wasn't the best cut she had. Actually she had to go back because one side was longer than the other. So I never really wanted to get a haircut here after seeing that. BUT I wanted to change my hair color from dark brown roots and dyed light brown to a dark red color. It was about 50$ which was so much cheaper than my usual go to place. I gave them a chance and I am glad I did. I got my hair dyed by Eva which I believe is the owner. The hair color turned out beautiful and she blow dried my long frizzy hair really nicely as well. While I was waiting for my hair color I got my eyebrows threaded by her. It was only a clean up with the same shape so I don't know how she would shape someone's eyebrows. But nonetheless that turned out really good too. I was very happy with my visit. I would probably return for a dye job if I feel like changing my hair color. read more

WARNING! THE GUY THERE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO COLOR HAIR! I can't speak for everyone that works there, so its not fair to say this place completely sucks, but I know from experience that the guy there is HORRIBLE at cutting, coloring, and styling hair. After he colored, cut, and blowdried my hair, I saw that I had SPOTS of bleach in my hair!!! I have black hair, so these big splotches of white hair were extremely noticeable. I pointed them out to him and told him to fix it, but he made me wait until he was done with the girl he started to work on after me. He made me wait there for another hour for nothing! He couldn't fix my hair, my ends were split, the color was wrong, and he had such an atrocious attitude! Big sign to leave was when he had no idea what an ombre was. DO NOT GO HERE! Super sketchy, super tiny, no heating/cooling, nowhere to put your things, and terrible customer service! Wish there was an option for no stars. read more

I was a little hesitant at first. I'm used to going to those fancy shmancy salons...and I found L&E on Groupon while desperately searching for a quick hair fix. Can you relate? Well, Eva did a really nice job on my hair and she is as nice as can be. Also, their prices are AMAZING!!! I got a color touch up, hair cut, blow out and highlights for under $100.00! Meh is really the best way to describe this salon. I was pulled into this salon by reviews and the price tag (really you get what you pay for). The reason I saw meh is because the price I ended up with (50) was not worth the result I got. Usually when I show a picture I at least get something close to what I see. The wavy picture I showed became a flat, dull, straightening affair with a cut that looks like she just chopped off the ends in a straight line. For what I paid I could have gone to my regular salon (downtown but they couldn't fit me in... I'll never stray again) and gotten a shiny, glamorous mini-makeover for my hair. If you just need a cut, go for it (it's only 20) but I would suggest not getting a blow-dry (30); I just don't think the "styling" is worth it. read more

HORRIBLE!! AWFUL!! Do NOT go there!! I bought a groupon for this salon for a full highlight & hair cut for like $50. The cut was fine, though I did have to tweak the layers around my face at home). The highlights were a NIGHTMARE!! I have golden blonde hair and wanted some really pail highlights to break up my color. The FIRST time they did it, you could see maybe to highlights near my roots but NO variation thru the lengths. I had to go back the next day for them to "fix" it. I also noticed this huge bleached out patch by my scalp on one side. The SECOND set of highlights showed more variation near my roots, but still NOTHING thru the length of my hair. PLUS, they told me they can't fix the weird bleach spot they made. I had told them TWICE I wanted white blonde highlights throughout & they tried to tell me I'm to blonde for that. B.S!! Other salons have done it for me before. I left after my second "fix" visit with all the same problems UNFIXED!! DO NOT GO THERE!! Even for the price it's not worth it. I STILL have to pay to go to another salon so I can get my color how I want it. WORST SALON EVER!!! read more

I had the worst hair experience in my life at this salon. I arrived at 2 pm and was told in advance three services (cut, color highlight/foil and keratin) would be done by 5 pm. It was important to be done by then because a family member was in from DC and only comes once a year so there was a dinner in his honor. Color was so bad. I cried when I saw it. There were streaks of blue and orange. She was supposed to touch up my grey and follow my natural hair so it wasn't hard to do. After admitting how bad it was (I had my fiancé come to see it), the hair stylist tried to fix it and that didn't make it any better - streaks of grey, pinkish, brown and even the blonde is now orangish and not my natural looking hair. She didn't finish until 730 pm and I didn't even get to the keratin and cut which I would no longer have trusted her to do. She still charged me over $100. She told me it looks really beautiful. I am shocked at the entire experience. My hair looks like my teen daughter colored it. And I missed seeing my family member. read more

Went here to get partial highlights, layered haircut, and blow-dry for $39 by Lydia. She was sooo sweet and took her time with me. She made sure I loved the color (even if that meant toning my hair twice!) Go on a weekday morning when it is not busy so you will not be rushed. Got so many complements on my hair. This place is a great find, and I cannot wait to go back. I used to go to a place that charged about $30 for eyebrow waxing and did not do threading. I would have to make an appointment, and was always encouraged to buy shampoos and conditioners and spend a lot. At this place I walked in and was taken right away and for $8 the threading looked just as good as the $30 waxing. They do not pressure you or bother you with buying a lot either. The woman was nice and did not make any comment that I need to come in more and I waited to long to get my eyebrows threaded like they would at the place were I would get the eyebrow waxing. Also, if you are willing to walk a little there is plenty of parking in the neighborhood side streets that is not permit parking or pay for parking. Of course, there is also the CTA. I did not find the threading painful and now prefer threading to waxing although the place offers both. It was also pretty quick and she used scissors to trim and touch up my eyebrows when she was finished with the threading. read more

EVA is a gem! I have bone straight hair and tons of it. It's impossible to cut without a razor. I like it short and fun, tons of texture. I haven't had a cut and color this impressive ever. Eva mastered what I wanted better than what I explained, and what amazed me more is how quickly she did it. I was out of there with a highlight and cut in an hour, I usually plan 2-3 when I'm with a new stylist. I used a groupon but a normal cut and particle highlights is only $85, my brow wax was $8. I more than pay twice that amount up in the North Shore....Very happy...worth the drive...I'll be back. read more

I will not be going here again, I got a coupon for this place, It was a $65 coupon for an Ombre coloring and a blowout. My stylist left the hair color on for maybe 10 min and then took me to shampoo it out. And having colored my hair for many years now I know that color has to sit on your hair at least 30min to set it. Because of this all the color has pretty much washed out and its been one week since I got it done. She also didn't do an Ombre, she only did the underlayers of my hair and left the layers on top with out ombre. Oh and did I mention her kids were in the salon running all over and ruining my salon quiet experience that I was so hoping for! It was a waste of time and money and also the place seemed pretty unclean. This salon is a joke and I feel like I have been fooled and I wish I could get my money back I really regret buying that coupon. DON'T GO HERE... Trust Me! read more

So I know the one BIG rule: you get what you paid for. However, the deal was nice: cut and partial highlights; and the reviews were mostly OK. How wrong I was. Never.Go.Here. Guy who did my color made all the right moves (I did have my glasses off), and I thought some of the stuff he did while highlighting was his own personal touch - it was not, he was trying to undo mistakes that I did not see until I was home, hair was dry, and I had glasses on. Example #1: rather than push the tinfoil w/hairs to highlight up to the scalp (this was done thru-out the underneath layer), he stopped about 1/2 inch from scalp and added color . . . I some strange stripes. I will get it fixed in a month or two by someone who knows what they're doing; I don't want anymore chems in my hair/head right now. In the meantime, I pull it back or up. Lesson learned. read more
