I've been on the search for a new stylist, and I think I've found it! The entire staff here was super friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Mary! Super sweet and helped me and my sister feel comfortable chatting and talking us through everything. We're loving our new looks and looking forward to our next cuts! My one complaint is that the online system on their site to schedule appointments is a bit confusing, but a quick call got us same-day appointments no problem. read more

Kaitlyn gave me a beautiful haircut this past Thursday and I'm extremely happy with it! A few months ago in early November I received two awful haircuts in a row that were absolutely awful. I was so traumatized I trimmed my own hair to try to grow out and cut the mistakes that were made. On Thursday I called Milio's salon and begged them for an immediate appointment because it's super hard to cut one's own hair and I was making matters much worse by cutting it by myself. I'm so glad Kaitlyn was available to help me and I highly recommend her to anyone who has natural wavy/curly hair. Kaitlyn shampooed my hair then used styling products to bring out my hair's natural curl pattern and wavy texture while it was wet. After she carefully cut each layer she styled my hair with more products and diffused my hair then had me sit under a dryer to see the curls as it dried. She didn't blow my hair straight because she wanted to make sure the cut brought out my waves and curls and that I'd leave extremely happy. read more

This is the first review I've ever done and I really don't want to have to do this. I've been here before and has the best experience ever. I returned trusting them with my hair as I had just had a transplant which caused me to lose all my hair and I walked out looking like Lord Farquaad. Because of the transplant I gained 60 lbs which I had recently lost and wanted to feel great with amazing looking hair. I ended up going to another stylist who was shocked at how badly my hair was butchered. This happened at the end of last year and it's take up until now to leave my hair down and even take pics again. I had contacted them, telling them that I didn't expect any kind of refund or any kind of compensation because I didn't want anyone else to go through this. I contacted them and they responded pretty fast but it was pretty cold pretty much being like "oops we're sorry that happened to you last year" Again, I'm not looking for anything in specific except for them to try and understand my situation, which I feel like they totally brushed aside. read more

I went to Milios for a change... it has been months since I had anything done to my hair because of Covid. Everyone had masks on and they clearly take care in keeping everyone safe. They even provide disposable masks and gloves to wear while you get new color! My stylist was Alexis. She gave me a much needed cut and a fun pink color! She did an amazing job. I want to start this by mentioning that I went to Milios for the first time in September 2024 for a simple haircut (long layers and trim). The guy then did it absolutely perfectly and it was the best haircut I have ever gotten. The price was very reasonable too. I decided to book again when my hair got longer - I met with the stylist LC on Friday for a simple trim with long layers (same as before). I have never been so disappointed with a haircut. LC was sweet and kind but she did not listen to what I wanted at all. My hair was long (up to mid point of my back) and I asked for only three inches off. I confirmed the length multiple times and she showed me what it would look like with three inches off (it would be upper chest). My hair is currently at my shoulders!!! I asked for long layers but she cut short ones, and it looks so odd with my now shoulder length hair. I also specifically mentioned that I did not want curtain bangs but she gave me face framing bangs anyways. At the end she mentioned that she thinned out my hair as well - once again something I never asked for and wish she would have told me beforehand so that I could have stopped her. She was sweet but seemed to be distracted telling me a personal story that she didn't notice how much hair she even cut off!! Now I am left with thinned out, short hair with odd looking layers that truly look random. I am so so so disappointed and will not be coming back. This is so unfortunate because I really did have a great experience my first time :( read more

Honestly I don't know where to start, but I left this salon after a trim looking worse than if I had tried to do it myself. I don't know if my stylist was rushing because my appointment started 25 minutes late, but they were also audibly second guessing themself under their breath throughout. My hair was jagged and looked like it had been sawed off, with random pieces shorter and cut straight across. Literally a disaster, I'm just glad I didn't opt for a full haircut here. We were going for brunch and randomly stopped by for an haircut at around 3:30. The receptionist said she can book at 4:00and asked us to come back at that time. We said okay and will walk around. We wont stick around waiting and will let her know if anything changes At 3:55 o'clock when we came back. We waitein the room then was told sorry my slot is taken cuz she was not sure I will be 110% coming back. Updated base on the store reply, i was still at Ann Sather at 3 and anyone can tell the logic of the store's explanation doesn't make sense. I was told I was booked the 4 o'clock and I asked the front desk I would call if I can't make it and grabbed a business card. The front desk told me chris didn't have a business card mailed in yet and gave me a general one. And I came back before my 4 o'clock. What's worst, when I walked in, the front desk didn't tell me my appointment was taken. They let us wait and they finished their chitchatting then came to tell me my slot was taken. At least other solans we went to were honest and told us they were booked Normally I wouldn't care if the the business is kind and treating customer with respect in a similar situation. Just like the front desk, instead of apologizing and admitting the mistake, the store chose to mudding situation and gave an attitude. I am sure I am not the only customers who had to deal with it. I first stopped into Milios about three years ago. The "walk-ins welcome" sign drew my attention, I think it's funny, and to this day still chuckle with the Christopher Walkin face on the door. For my first visit, all I needed was quick brow wax. Dalia was available and gracefully took care of me and I went on my way. Next time I needed a haircut, I remembered how friendly she was and decided to book an appointment with her. Fast forward three years and I've consistently been going to see her every 3 months. This is the first time I've had a "go-to" stylist, and I must say she's the absolute best you could ask for. On occasions, if she noticed my hair was a bit more dry than usual, she would do a deep conditioning treatment for me and kindly recommend I perhaps don't wear my french braid five days a week (i'm guilty of doing that). She remembers where I have travelled, how work is going, and even my relationship status. And for her, I've seen her go from engaged, to married, to having one baby, and now another on the way! This last visit I had was my last as I've moved away, and it was bittersweet. I feel that I have a genuine relationship with her and the studio and am so sad that I won't be able to hear about her walks of life and have her help me take care of my hair (I am a no frills type of girl and sometimes forget that I need to take care of myself). Never once have I left disappointed or unhappy with my haircut. She always knows exactly what will look best on me, and gives me her personal recommendation while listening to my needs. Moral of the story here is, regardless of what others have said about this studio, it is the best you will find in Chicago. Don't hesitate. Ask for Dalia (but book yourself ahead as she is always booked out). If you can't get her, any of the other stylists have her skill and grace, and you will be in good hands! Thanks so much Dalia! This place is awesome. The kind of vibe that this hair studio has is the kind of place where I know I'll get a nice haircut walking out. I'm so tired of those shopping mall salons and those expensive downtown salons that do pretty much the same quality as those in the malls. I forgot the name of the stylist I had, but she really did a good job. I typically have long hair and I told her that I wanted to go short, but was so afraid to do so since my face is a bit round. She managed to hook me up w/ a really sharp bob that was a good length in the front which still thinned out my face, but as you go around to the back it got shorter. The way she layered/thinned out my hair was awesome too. I have very thick hair and it becomes a problem having short hair because it tends to poof out more. Anyway, I'll be back here again. I've gone to Erin a few times to get my hair relaxed. I was originally trying to get a keratin treatment with another stylist (I don't remember her name since this was like a year ago but she was very sweet) and we realized that a relaxer was what I wanted not a keratin treatment so I was directed to have a consult with Erin. I had never had my hair relaxed previously so it was a new hair journey for me. Erin is SUPER friendly, professional and she puts a lot of care and precision into her work. I'm mixed and always struggled with my hair. I just had no idea what to do with it since it was so curly and frizzy so I would always just wear it in braids or spend hours straightening it to get it how I wanted. Now that Erin has blessed my hair I don't have to do much with it. It's so much more manageable and I can even go without straightening it if I want to. If you are looking for someone to do relaxer on the north side Erin is your girl. I also struggle with anxiety and I've never felt anxious around her. She does a very good job at keeping you engaged in conversation and makes the whole experience FUN which is something I've never experienced before. read more

I've been going to Milio's for haircuts for 3-4 years now. I used to work in the area, but even now that I work elsewhere ib the city, the commute to Milio's is worth it. Always excellent service. Additionally, in these times, I would not go to get my hair cut if I didn't feel safe. But Milio's well-thought-out, careful, and rigorous Covid precautions are a reassurance. Despite all the adaptations, the atmosphere remains friendly and intimate, like a (functional) family. Finally, as a non-binary transperson, getting a haircut is often a hassle. Not at Milios! The only benefit is it's close to my house and are open late so I decided to give it a second shot. Walked out with my hair looking like a Stepford wife with an old 60 year old Karen's haircut. I asked for 5 different adjustments after she was 'done' to try and fix it and it just didn't turn out right so I just gave up and left. Was so upset I just went home and took scissors to it myself. So I am not one to write reviews, but LC did such a great job with my hair that I couldn't resist! Not only was she super friendly and knowledgeable, but she was patient with me as I explained what I wanted and in answering my endless questions. I am a natural red head but the Chicago winter has really done a number so she told me about this glossing that would not damage my hair and would bring out its natural vibrancy. I was a bit weary because I don't color my hair typically, but I am BEYOND happy with the results! I loved Milio's. I've been going there for nearly two years. However, I had an appointment scheduled today with Jenna (love her, she always does a great job) but I work in the service industry and one of my coworkers has a family emergency and asked me to pick up her shift. With the pandemic, working in the service industry has been very difficult, something I would think Milio's Hair Salon would understand. Yet, when I called to cancel my appointment today I was told that I would be charged $50 as a cancellation fee (the price of my hair cut), when I made my appointment the last time I was there nobody warned me that there was a cancellation fee. With COVID and everything you would think they would be understanding of cancellations especially if you are feeling under the weather but I guess not. So now I am out of a hair salon and $50. read more

Really disappointed with the outcome of my balayage. I move around a lot, so I've had my hair done by many different stylists, but this was by far the worst application of color I've ever had. There was a block of my natural color randomly left on the right side and no face framing highlights, so I went back in. The result was a couple of chunky streaks of highlight on either side. At this point, I hadn't even realized the horror the was the underneath layers of hair. Thank *god* I don't often straighten my hair or put it half up. It looks like she just took a paint brush halfway down the hair with the bleach. It looks like terrible outgrowth because of the lack of blending. I don't know if she was in training or just hasn't done many balyages, but it completely missed the mark. Needless to say, I am very self conscious about my hair. I have never written a negative review before, but due to the amount of money and trust you invest, I felt it merited a warning. read more

My stylist rushed and my hair felt dead and crunchy afterwards. I've been highlighting my hair for years and have never had my hair consistency feel like that. In search of a new salon that's reasonably priced, I decided to come to this salon for the first time. I made an appointment for a cut with LC. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, which was just a texturized, short bob. Towards the end of the cut, I felt something was off but couldn't figure out what it was. The next day, I noticed that the left side was longer than the right side. I also noticed that the right side looked a little bit bulkier than the left. UGH! I called the salon and was able to make an appointment the following morning. I came in, and Leigh was able to somewhat undo what LC did a few days before. She couldn't quite fix everything, but she really tried. She also gave me tips on how to style my hair until the right side evens out, which she thinks will take a few months. I'll probably go back to Leigh in 6 weeks so that she can fix the mess that happened with LC. UGH! By the way, I'd give Leigh 4 stars, but since I had a terrible experience the first time I came here, I had to settle for 3 stars. read more
