The first time I walked in and went to the main desk for someone to sign me in for my first hair coloring appointment, the ladies were very "nice" and offered a drink. After I got my hair colored it was to my surprise that I did not see a difference at all, it was as though my hair wasn't colored. (I wanted to do a light brown because my hair color was a really dark brown almost black I even showed a picture). I was really disappointed, though I was happy w/ the haircut. The hair color was the only thing I was unhappy about. I thought it was just me, but as I waited throughout the week to see if it lightened, it just looked the same. Not even in the sun did it look different. I was charged a little for 100$ and my hair isn't long. When I called the next day to reschedule, the woman I spoke to was really nice. But when I got a call as a reminder that my redo appointment was the next day the called was rude. Thankfully the woman who redid my hair was kind and she did not charge me either. But when I went in for my hair color I was NOT offered a drink (like the first time) nor was I greeted like the first time I walked in. For a "luxurious" or "high status" Salon, some of the ladies do lack education. Guess they're only "nice" to paying customers. I am definitely not going back. Growing up I always felt like Salon Salon was one of the nicest places to get my hair done. I recently moved back to CA and was briefly visiting Modesto and I thought it would be the trustworthy place to get my hair done. I was sorely mistaken. I had one of the worst hair experiences of my life at Salon Salon. Not only did my hair look horrendous after my cut and color, but the customer service was not accommodating or friendly. I showed a picture of what I wanted my hair coloring to look like but the stylist did something completely different. I told her I couldn't see the difference and she said I would see it with a few washes. A few washes later, I now have blond stripes in my hair. When I asked to have my bangs trimmed my stylist mentioned that she thought I should grow them out and that she would only cut a few, leaving me with uneven bangs that I had to promptly get fixed. When I finally decided to call and tell them I was unhappy, I was not met with good customer service I was met with an aggravated response. First, they told me they would refund me but if I get a refund I can never come back, which I was ok with. Then weeks later, when I did not get a refund I called back and they said they would actually not refund me but I can come get it fixed. I do not live in Modesto so I asked them again for a refund and they refused. When I mentioned I would be writing an unhappy review of the Salon I was given a snide remark "that's ok, Salon Salon can hold it's own" from the salon's manager Sandra. After accommodating my stylist, Amy, and changing my appointment, driving an hour and a half so she could fix my hair where color had bled through leaving several dark spots I was greeted with, "Really, do you sit and look at your head with a magnifying glass? Why do you even come to me!" Then when I got up to leave she proceeded to tell me she'd take out the extensions that she'd put in incorrectly so "Just sit down." These people are completely rude and disrespectful. They charge too much for barely anything done. They keep the salon disgusting and dirty; nothing is clean. Hair is left all over the floor. My first time coming in Salon Salon, I had a pedicure by Barbara. She did amazing. Felt great, things are CLEAN and NEW OUT OF PACKAGE. I wanted to stop going to the places that are $15 and get more cracks after than when I went in. You know ladies what I am talking about. Save your money and go once a month instead. I was ending up going to the vietimease places 1 time a week and not feeling clean, good, or disease free. I had to break up with the local pedicure places in the shopping centers and I am in a better place now thanks to Barbara at Salon Salon. I've been going to Kim since she used to live in Southern California and I've never found anyone that does as good a job as she does. I always get all-gel nails, not acryllic ones, and she is a master. Mindy is great for pedicures and nails as well. I love Salon Salon and my hairdresser Kim Fite! I live in Sacramento but have not found anyone even remotely as good as Kim so I happily drive to see her when I am need of a cut or color. Kim takes a lot of time with her clients and I think it really shows. My hair always looks and feels great after I leave the shop. The Salon is also beautiful with lots of product (Bumble and Bumble )to choose from and a very friendly staff. My next splurge will be a spa day there. I highly recommend visiting them if you live anywhere in the valley. read more

Amy Rocha is the best. Everytime she does my hair i know it will turn out great. I never get nervous with her because she knows what she is doing! I got a really bad haircut when i was living in Florida so when i came back to modesto the first thing i did was call and make an appointment with Amy. She fixed my haircut to the point that its one of my favorite hairstyles i have ever had. She has done my hair about 5 times. She is great at coloring too. She also did all of my bridal party's wedding hair. She came to my house and did 4 bridesmaids, my mother and my hair. She worked quickly but not without the detail! She also came to the wedding location to make sure i didn't need any touch ups before the ceremony started and due to her expertise with hair spray my usually unruly hair stayed put the whole night. My mom, sister, dad and I all go to Amy for our hair. I. She makes sure you feel pampered while in her chair. She will bring you something to drink before you start so you can get comfortable. When she washes my hair it feels like a mini massage and then she gently wipes away the hair clippings from your face and neck with a dry cloth and that feels like a mini massage too. She is a bit of a perfectionist (which is what i look for in my hair stylists) so be prepared for a long appointment, i usually clear my schedule that day so i can really enjoy my time in the salon and then go shop in the village. I used to go there for 3 years to Marybeth. I loved her, she did a great job(when she showed up for my appt). I was recently pregnant and on my birthday, she cancelled on me at 8 am. I live an hour away and was already on my way. The next appt she cancelled again because she was "sick". It was the day after 4th of July. And then she has her mom call(she is the salon manager) and say MaryBeth doesn't want me to bring my baby in and she is very uncomfortable. I hadn't even had my baby yet!!!! I decided to see someone else closer to home foer a while and when I was doing BFing I made an appt with her. Only to get a call a week before telling me Mary Beth is cutting her hours down and only wants clients she sees every week. RIGHT. She is a flake and her mom is a terrible salon manager. I went into this appointment hopeful that I would end up with a high-end cut and color. What I was sent home with was a hack-job that looked like a blindfolded five-year-old with one hand tied behind their back attempted with a weed-whacker. My bangs are choppy, and uneven as one would expect from a buzz saw. I was given no highlights as requested, and my bangs ended up darker than the rest of my ombré hair. It looked dirty, greasy, sparse, choppy, and cheap. When I asked the stylist, Raimi, to fix it, I was forced to try and fit my already busy schedule into hers after she butchered my hair, ignored my requests from the outset, and blamed me for her incompetence but she just did not listen to me at any point in our appointment. I have never paid so much money to feel awful, look terrible, be blamed for their lack of professionalism and skill, be ignored, and rushed out of a salon. I will NEVER go back to this place again! A real salon would have never done such shoddy work to begin with, and if they had made a mistake, they would have gone out of their way to work with the client's schedule and in my experience, kept me until it was corrected instead of asking them to show up at 7:00 the following morning, as a "favor" to fix their hair. I would have never been forced out of the salon in a truly professional establishment. I would have been made to stay, which I would have gladly done. This place is the true definition of "lipstick on a pig"; overpriced pretense with nothing to show for itself. The hair I saw walking out of there looked cheap. Do not waste your money, ladies and gents! Go to Mosaic Salon down the street. No pretense, reasonable prices, and they actually CARE about their work. They actually listened to me and fixed the damage Raimi did to me. If those stylists at Salon Salon spent half the time on their skills and their trade as they do on their own personal appearances, they'd be killing it. Instead, they are killing our wallets and our appearances. My mother and I have tried and tried this place to get a decent cut/color/highlight numerous times, and this is the last straw (we have experience in Beverly Hills and SF). After always being disappointed, having to pay other salons to correct their botched jobs, we are done. I have not found a single soul in that salon that knows how to handle anyone's hair but their own.... Ugh! read more

Very nice looking salon - they have a very "upscale" and "modern" look. However, everything here is on the pricey side. My boyfriend got his haircut here for $35, just a haircut. Although, they did an okay job, I didn't not feel it was worth the price. The boutique is overpriced as well, $100 for a simple shirt. I believe this salon is more for an older crowd. read more

The front desk was at a loss of where he was. I have received no phone call from either the stylist or the salon to explain and / or apologize. I have been every where and can never seem to find a hairdresser that I like more than two visits in a row, until now. I have been going to San Francisco for the past year and I just can't seem to find that person that can do a great job each time. Paolo is great, he takes his time and I have not been disappointed and I have seen him more than a few times.
