So I normally get a $300 haircut from the "curl doctor" but I'm on a budget I needed to downgrade but this was an upgrade my hair has never looked healthier and I have Robbie to thank for that. I was so scared that I was going to have to cute five inches and he cut 1-1 1/2 in. Off and it just looks amazing. He was so sweet and talkative and definitely interested in my hair he continued to offer me something to drink and it was just an amazing experience and I left beyond happy with my hair. read more

Just completed a walk-in appointment with Sakura. I was greeted and offered a beverage right when I walked in. I came in with long frizzy brown hair, a small idea of what I wanted done, and a little bit of apprehension towards getting it cut and colored in a new salon. Sakura was kind and patient, she asked me questions during my consultation solidifying the direction she was going to take my hair. Occasionally I would ask her a question with a bit of nervousness and she confidently answered. As a bonus to my visit she taught me some tricks for styling my new hair. She was personable and I especially appreciated how focused she was while cutting my hair. It made me even more confident that she is dedicated to doing a good job. I wrote my original review of Salon Pure more than 4 years ago and I haven't stopped going; 'Nuf Said! There have been several times that I thought to myself "This is the best cut I have ever had", and each of those has been due to Scott. I know he styles both guys and girls, so I can only speak for his male styling. For me he does a great job texturing, taking out the weight of the sides and back, configuring the lengths of certain hairs to support the overall flow. The area around the parlor has developed as well, after your haircut, swing by Cole's for an authentic French Dip sandwich. Then return later in the evening for a drink at Varnish, the Association or that tequila bar. read more

A big five stars for Salon Pure!! I recently made a second visit to LA to get my hair cut coming from Buena Park...traffic is better on Sundays.... I highly recommend this salon with an excellent cut from Erika! I went in with long straight hair and was waiting for a change, something new and she did an A-line cut about an inch above my shoulders. I showed her picture of what I wanted and she recommended a few changes and It came out really cool and I'm getting nothing but compliments on my new do. It's a great salon and I highly recommend going there! The decor is very inviting and new artwork is displayed throughout the salon. The high ceilings open up the salon and the other hair stylists and owner are very friendly too. Very great atmosphere. They also provide coffee and water too. I had another hairstylist in Anaheim Hills for about 18 years and I have converted to Salon Pure and will keep on going to get my hair cut there. Five stars!!!! read more

I've gone to Salon pure twice so far and Ive been very happy with the results. I live and work in DTLA and other salons dont have the vibe or aesthetic that this place does. Scott is my go to guy. I rock a short pixie cut but i like hair to look very FEM. I've has the worst experiences with short hair stylists who make me look with Butch or just go straight to clippers because its fast and easy. Scott totally listens to me and asks questions which I LOVE. He not once used clippers and took his time and made sure i was completely happy before I left. He even came to my work and fixed something that i loved but cant rock do to work which is awesome!!! I'll def be coming here as long as Scott works here! read more

So ive been going to Scott for years! i first met Scott working as a receptionist at a salon in orange county. I'm really particular with who cuts my hair. Unfortionally i moved away to NYC for about 6 years. In those years. lucky i have long hair so i can get away not having a haircut. I literally have traveled about 3000 miles just to get my hair cut. I have seen people all over the world and things have never been as great as Scott from his presence to attitude I can not help but say he is the best stylist i have ever met! I have very thick, frizzy, unruly curls that I have never quite gotten a grasp on. I spent years straightening my hair but at a certain point had to give up the daily fight. I went to a few so-called curly hair specialists but never quite got the results I was looking for. And then I found Chandra at Salon Pure. She is a natural curly girl like me and knows exactly how to handle my crazy hair expertly. For the first time in my life, I have wash-and-go hair that I get compliments on regularly. I now LOVE my curls! Chandra is also an extremely talented colorist. She colored my hair the most delicious dark brown for my wedding (I've kept it up since), and like my cut, I receive frequent compliments on it and I absolutely love it. Perhaps most importantly, Chandra is very easy to communicate with and I feel like I have a flow of conversation with her that I haven't experienced with other stylists. She's great at talking hair and I always feel like we're on the same page. No one needs a stressful haircut/color. Salon Pure is very easy to get to, and nearby parking is easy to come by. When I finally found Erica she did some of the most phenomenal color.. really subtle correct in every way.. it has been years and years since I have had a hairdresser that understood color to this degree.. I've had my hair cut and colored by Desseri! She is a perfectionist and I wouldn't let any other person touch my hair. She started with a color correction from my previous person, and I was so nervous but she easily put me at ease and did her magic. Color is definitely her passion and you can tell as she gets so excited to create a magical masterpiece on your hair. Her personality, talent, and professionalism is definitely what keeps me coming back and I would highly recommend her. He listened to what I wanted and gave suggestions. He was knowlegeable about hair and could spot the issues with my last cut and he knew how to fix them. If it wasn't for Scott at Salon Pure I would never get a compliment on my hair - how sad is that? For as long as I live in L.A (20 years) I've had short hair and never found a hairdresser I was happy with. Only when I returned from Europe with a fabulous new haircut people gave me compliments. I created an account on Yelp and am writing this review to save you the trouble of coming here. Why because: 1. The salon is definately OVERRATED. 2. The hair cut is not worth the price. You leave with a mediocre hair cut you can get at other salons for $25, but instead you pay $80 + tip. 3. The stylists can't deliver. You show them a picture and they can't cut it. The cut is not even close to the picture. 4. The salon itself is not "hip" as so many yelpers have exaggerated it to be. 5. The location and parking sucks. You have to pay $4-$5 for parking. It's LA. Overall, save yourself the trouble and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

My husband and I drive from Venice Beach to Salon Pure downtown because they are just that good. Scott cuts my hair, Chandra does my husband's. Because I was trying a new style, I brought in several pictures to show Scott. When I said I'd brought pictures, his face lit up, "Good!" Halfway through my cut yesterday, I saw that it looked just like the picture. "Yep," said Scott. That's what he does. He makes it look like the picture. By the end, my hair looked better than the picture. Scott will do whatever he needs to do to make that happen. In my case, he added the product needed, blew dry, flat ironed, cut, and added a bit more product. I felt he wanted it to be just perfect, which is how I always feel when he does my hair. Scott is never rushed. I always feel he has all the time in the world to talk about what I want, and he really listens and cares. When you're in Scott's chair, he is totally focused on you and your hair. He is also very good at styling as creative collaboration, and he checks in when it's important, to make sure the cut will be just right. I left the salon feeling glamorous and happier with my hair than I can remember. read more

I've bounced around from barbershop to salon to barbershop to salon over the years; my hair has been cut by everybody from those old school barbers that set up your lines with that vicious precision to those Beverly Hills dudes that got pictures of themselves vacationing in Cannes with somebody that seems vaguely famous casually strewn about that charge a diamond and a newborn per touch up...Scott wins. I have to keep appearances fairly professional for work life; yet I I have just enough of a rebellious streak to where I feel a need to habitually line step...Scott keeps me happy. That's hard. I have been struggling with my curly hair my entire life - it frizzes, it was unshapely, and ultimately unsightly. I had even started to think about getting it permanently straightened. Judy gave me the cut of my life. It looked great straight (and she did a great job styling it), but when I let it dry naturally, I suddenly had the most gorgeous bouncy curls that framed my face beautifully... She also had an incredible "bedside manner," she really took the time to understand what I wanted and what my hair challenges were and figured out how to solve them. I would recommend the salon (which has a really funky design and a great staff overall from what I saw), but Judy in particular. She is a gem. CHANDRA pimp-cut my out-of-control hair for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I am Latina with medium tan skin and a round face. I have dry, out of control, menopausal hair- sometimes its very curly (the curls go in all different directions), sometimes its wavy, sometimes its almost straight-most of the times its confused. Its never neat unless I straighten it, which I don't like doing all the time because its boring. I actually like my hair messy but it looks like a mistake most of the time. I didn't have a plan when I went in there and Chandra was very thorough with explaining to me what was up with my poof and how she could tame it. She also kept my sense of style with the messiness, without making it look like an accident. Also, unlike many haircuts I have gotten before- my face does not look swollen because she framed it very well. She took her time and honestly went piece by piece to make sure it was right. It was very detailed, so much, I stopped paying attention to the IPAD they provide for entertainment just to watch how my hair transform. The price was $80 plus a 15% off discount for first time (so $68, not including tip) visitor so it wasn't bad at all, and totally worth it. Go check her out, I've seen great reviews for everyone but she was able to make my hair look good and I'd consider it very difficult hair. read more
