I had one of the best haircuts of my life today with Jessica. I have always struggled with my hair - not really knowing what I want, feeling unsure of how to style it. I have followed Jessica on IG for a few years and finally decided to book with her. First off, she is incredibly sweet and was a pleasure to talk to. The salon she works at was super cute, clean, and had the comfiest salon shampoo bowls. I gave her a very general idea of what I was looking for and really just let her take it from there. This was the first I experienced a "dry cut" which I really enjoyed because I felt like it made the most sense since I usually wear my hair curly anyways. She did an incredible job and I've already received so many compliments on my hair. She also gave me great tips on how to style my hair along with product recommendations and samples. I am so happy that I found Jessica, she worked her magic on my curly hair and I could not be happier. My hair has a mind of its own and after a bad haircut I have been putting off cutting my hair. Before even going to the salon, I told her all about my hair, how I like to style it, as well as letting me know how to arrive at the salon so she could cut my hair. Once at salon we spent a few minutes talking about my hair, how I like style it, and any other info she should know. She cut my hair dry and then washed it. After washing it, she gave me some really great tips on what products to use, when the use them, and how much to use as we got the styling started while my hair was still sopping wet. Then while she was styling it she gave me even more tips on how to hold my blow dryer, what settings to use and more to help eliminate frizz. She did such a good job explaining everything that I felt like a pro when I got home and did my hair for the first time. I cannot recommend Jessica more and I am super happy how my hair turned out! I found Jessica on Yelp, was super excited to find someone with such great reviews with curly hair. Unfortunately my hair stylist had surgery and stepped away from doing hair for a bit. The salon is beautiful and super clean. Great covid precautions, I literally was the only one in the salon. My only complaint is the way my bangs were cut. My hair is very curly and I only requested a trim but my bangs were butchered. They were cut very short, I almost wanted to cry when I saw my hair dry. My bangs were cut just below my brows when they were wet. When working with curly hair it is expected the hair will shrink 3-4 " when dry so I would of thought only an inch would of been taken off of them. Other than bangs I love my cut and color. Included is a before pic (2 weeks prior) and and after. Idk maybe extremely short bangs is a thing but not my style. read more

She was recommended to me by a friend and I had just left my hairdresser of 20 years (I had just moved from SF to LA) and my last two hairdressers were......... not. Jessica? IS!!! I have a very modern/Japanese aesthetic with my hair and there is A FUCKLOAD of it. Jessica is not only a great stylist, but also a knowledge of wealth regarding curly/wavy/kinky hair. I have hair that is totally unpredictable. Sometimes I'm able to achieve right clumps of curls, and sometimes I get a slight wave. I'm just starting to treat my hair as curly instead of slightly waved, weirdly flat, super fine hair as I had been for almost 15 years. THE BEST. I have curly hair and never had success with stylists til I met Jessica. Where do I even start? First off, the salon is beautiful. Open space with lots of natural sunlight. Very delightfully. Jessica is a sweetheart that knows her stuff. I've always gotten my hair cut at Supercuts but I finally decided that I needed to get my hair cut at someone who specializes in curly hair. I found Jessica on Yelp and I'm forever grateful! First of all, she is very organized. Booking an appointment is so easy and convenient and you get multiple reminders beforehand. She also texts you info about exactly how to find the studio since it can be a little difficult to spot which is very sweet and considerate of her. Second, she is such an artist. i have tried to stay away from hairstylists all my life because of some bad experiences with curl specialists and non curl specialists, but last summer i decided to try her out because of her great reviews on yelp! my hair before Hairspell was pretty dark, long 3b-3c hair, cute curls on my crown. all i asked was "please just make sure not to fry it, i don't want it blond or anything, just a softer honey brown, and add a little shape to it, it's all a pretty even length" she replied with "i don't fry hair" she FRIED my hair, even after! i was left with stringy WAVY thing brittle hair. it couldn't even curl like it used to :( she cut my hair extremely short and i had really uneven layers, the left side of my head was longer than my right even when i split down the middle. and it had no more volume. i have been RELENTLESSLY trying to salvage my hair since the day i walked out of that place and it's just now becoming what it used to be before Hairspell. The only tricky part is my length, i haven't been able to get close to the length i had last summer and it makes me so sad that i ever came her in the first place. looking back at all the old photos i ADORED my long voluminous hair and really regret letting hairspell anywhere near me. she's a dope person! lovely attitude and very nice. but issa no for me, i wouldn't recommend her work to anyone. my before/afters speak for themselves read more

I don't think I ever have found anyone who can do my hair growing up.. it was basically a lost cause.. they would either thin my hair and then it would take forever for it to grow back.. or they would cut my hair as if it wasn't curly and the next day be shorter than what I wanted... Or worse uneven! It got to the point where I did my own hair, which never was noticably bad most people assumed I got it done.. but it was disappointing to struggle to find someone who I can be confident in cutting my hair.. until I met Jessica !!!
