Best haircut of MY LIFE somehow she cut it in a way where it looked GREAT whether i had my natural curls or a blowout. Best everrrr PERIOD!

My hair came out great however I don't understand why it was $220+ for a trim and for half of my hair to get a color retouch. I didn't need bleach or foils. I was in the salon for about a 1 1/2 hours. My stylist said he cuts dry so getting it blow dried was not my choice and I could have and would have gone without as the charge extra for a blow dry which seemed odd. I tried to call to ask after my appointment why i was charged so much. When I had called on the phone to book my appointment I was originally quoted around 160 which was on par for my usual stylist who will do multiple colors, a conditioning treatment, trim, and a full style. This was literally just a trim, one tube of color for my ends and that's it. Maybe there was a miscommunication but if the stylist had told me the cost prior to starting the service, I probably would have said no thanks. Usually I can do my color at home but I needed a trim so I thought why not just try out some stylists out here since I just moved. I'll probably go to my normal stylist in OC just due to the cost. My stylist did a great job and the owner was really nice. I just wish I was told the cost upfront and gotten a call back so I can understand why it was such a high price point for a very simple service. BTW I HATE leaving reviews that are less than 5 stars because I always love supporting small business and this is in no way a reflection on my stylist or the experience. I now know to confirm that what I was quoted over the phone is what the fee is prior to starting the service to avoid any misunderstandings in the future. I appreciate you guys taking care of me but I would highly recommend informing the client of pricing prior to the service especially if it's a first timer. read more

Absolutely amazing salon!! first off, very cool location and very beautiful interior! They took me in last minute on a Friday and Kaitlyn the receptionist is so sweet, friendly and cute! I was running 30 minutes late and they had absolutely no problem pushing me up, no attitude whatsoever! Ok so they have the best cucumber water ever, and the most delicious red wine (I honestly really don't like red wine but this has become one of my favorite drinks, and all bunches of teas and coffee! On to my stylist! Her name is Kat and she's just as talented as she is freaking awesome! She read my mind on exactly what I wanted and I didn't go crazy drastic but she was able to cut major inches off without making me look like I have short hair. So I have thick hair, natural brunette when balyage blonde for a year now back so it's a little damaged, it would be considered "textured wavy" yet I do straighten it often! Kat cut it in a long Bob! Shorter in the back than front but kept it past my shoulders. It used to be about my breast area until last month until I cut it to my collar bone and now I am going even shorter and it still feels longish not drastic or dramatic at all! The day of, I walked in and I was welcomed by the salon owner, Erica who was very sweet and outgoing. I was there for a haircut and to have my color refreshed and she had me sit down with Arielle. Honestly fuck this place and the horse it rode in on. I live upstairs and came down to ask a question. "I said excuse me I just wanted to ask" and before I could finish my sentence this guy shuts the door in my face and says "NO". I'm so confused. I was so polite, had a mask on and another client was leaving so he was already at the door. The man was Asian about 6ft. He opens the door again bc I'm standing there in shock and says. No you have to call somebody. I said ok could you could be nicer and he responds NO. Like who stuck a stuck up your ass? You would think I was some homeless bum on the street begging for change. ASK FOR KAT For the past several years I have bounced from stylist to stylist without ever being satisfied. I'm pretty low maintenance with my hair but from time to time like to change my natural dark brunette to either red or blonde. I found Salon Pure serendipitously one day and will be making it my GO-TO from now on. Kat specifically was extremely patient, both with me personally and with the actual painstaking work of color correcting my thick head of hair. I'm that annoying person who goes in and says "I just want something new, whatever you think will look best--" we spent quite some time looking through photos and deciding on a course of action. She also was able to give me some general haircare tips, which I really appreciated. I always try to wait before I give a bad review, but it has been a week since my haircut and I am still very, very upset. TLDR: it took five hours, she had to redo the dye job three times, and it is still two-toned. Check the photos. I had been planning on growing my hair out, but I have tons of white so I gave up after eight months. I went to a salon so I could get an overhaul dye and a cut. Salon Pure is close and has great reviews for both cut and dye. Sakura was really nice, and to her credit gave me a really solid haircut. My hair is very thick, and she managed it and tamed it quite a bit. My issue is with the dye job. I asked for auburn hair. Check out the pictures. The first dye job was a joke. Look at it. Seriously. She told me it would rinse out and it's like that with two toned hair at first. Really? Okay. I asked her to rinse it right away then, and she totally hesitated... and then admitted that yes, it may need to be fixed. The second dye job she tried to lighten the roots instead. You can see how that went. The owner finally stopped working on one of her stylists and came over to give Sakura (who says she's been doing this for twelve years) some advice about maybe not pouring on the purple for an auburn dye job. The third dye job worked a bit better, but as you can see my hair is still two-toned and even the top color is not what I wanted. A week later it is still two toned. The bottom is brown and the top still has tons of purple in it. I feel like if I hadn't been assertive with the stylist I would've walked out of there looking like even more of an idiot. It was really disturbing to be told "that's the way things are" when I have been seeing the same stylist for years and have NEVER had an issue. I am so, so unhappy. I'm a student, and I have less than zero free spending money. I make coffee at home, cook my own meals and don't go out on Friday nights. This was a special gift from my boyfriend to congratulate me on my grades this semester, and I could've just gotten a box off the shelf and done it in my bathroom and kept the change. I would've had the same results but I could've had wine and saved my bf $210 and myself FIVE HOURS and a $50 tip. I wish I could get it fixed but I can't afford that. This is really sad. Just a last note: tip regardless. People have off days and it sucks, but we never know what they might be going through and it's a basic decency. read more

Kat is an extremely talented stylist/hairdresser and also a beautiful, kind, and wise lady. I didn't know what hairstyle would work for me. She was very patient and explained that the hairstyle I wanted would not be good for my hair type or my wash-and-go routine. She gave me a fabulous, low-maintenance haircut. P.S. If your Favorite person is not there and they offer you and appointment a day later at 6pm don't take it... Now I gotta deal with this haircut that's not even... The times I gone I'm offered a drink and even get my hair washed out not this time. I guess the wash was broken or something I didn't mention nothing to the lady cause I hate bothering people especially after she kept going on about her husband she had to get home to cut his hair I pray and hope his comes out better than mine... I just got home and washed my own hair out and to my surprise a ton of extra hair left uneven. What sucks is after a 35$ charge I tipped her $10 and walked out with this horrible cut... I came to this salon for a simple blowout since I was in LA for the weekend. I was able to make an appointment the same day. When I walked in I was helped right away. Sakura washed and blow dried my hair and she is amazing! My blowout lasted 3 full days and looked beautiful. Sakura is very nice and she is very genuine. Most salons I go to always whine about my thick hair but she did not. She acknowledged it was a lot of hair but she was excited to do my hair and that is rare to find! Last weekend Kat gave me my favorite haircut/color I have ever had! Initially I worried about doing something as drastic as a mullet shag, but she nailed it. My mom found this salon through a great article written in Allure magazine (waiting room reading material! LOL) and wanted to try it out when she came to visit me. The affordability of this salon was very appealing, along with the location and the Yelp reviews spoke very highly of the staff. I was a bit worried, only because I have super thick, course hair and I have been going to the same person for years. But, the job that Candace did on my hair was amazing!!! VERY HAPPY. My mother's hair was done by Erica and she also like her cut a lot and thought all the people were very friendly. She comes from Illinois and isn't into the uppity, pretentiousness of majority of salons in LA so she felt very comfortable here. Product wise, I really like their new product like R+CO as well! There were all types of people coming in/out of the salon, so it wasn't as hipstery as I thought it would be (thank goodness!). I also appreciated that they send you an appt reminder via text. The music was a bit depressing though (90s grunge was playing that day lol...Mazzy Star ZZZZZZ). All in all, A-. I have gotten my hair cut by Tonantzin twice and I am supremely satisfied. She is an experienced hair dresser who has opened a new Salon in Downtown LA. I got my first LA haircut by Tonantzin at her former Salon and she has since opened up this salon. I believe she co-owns the business. Plenty of street/lot parking. The cost of the haircut was 40-50 for a guy. I used to pay 15 at the barber and I feel I get a better deal here. It's worth it to look good for 2 months. I am a dude and have no idea what I am doing as far as hair. When I got my first cut I told her just to "make it look good". She made it look REAL good. But also this girl kind of procrastinated and was super busy with events leading up to NYE that I goofed and didn't book an appointment well in advance. Luckily and amazingly... Sakura took care of me and as we were talking we both realized we are both from Tokyo and that was a pretty fun coincidence. She did a great job blowing out my hair and curling it. So, here's the thing... Salon Pure, how I love the.... I live in the building the salon is in, we watched as Salon Pure slowly transformed from weird funky space to swanky but confortable salon community. The salon itself stunning, copper cealing with exposed pipes, beautiful dark hard wood stations, beautiful architecture and a rather clever attention paid to use of the small nooks and crannies of the building. The staff is fantastic, Scott took on my roommates hair, and is soon to take a whack at mine, I've watched the stylists closely and all seem to have fantastic technique and style, and every single one of them are fantastically sweet and wonderful. I've been to get my weekly manicures, and my nails end up shiny, moisterized and in movie star worth condition. My roommate and I love the salon, and feel totally blessed to have such great services at our front door, other salons in the area cant even begin to compete, so, if you are in Down Town, and are looking for a fantastic beauty experiance, I'd put my money on Salon Pure every time. This review covers my experiences with the stylist, Arielle. As a person with box-dyed black hair I knew I needed a stylist with a strong resume of color correcting to get my desired blonde balayage. After several sessions of "correcting" my hair and a bad experience with another stylist, I decided do some research in hopes of finding a stylist with color correction experience. I stumbled upon Arielle's IG page and immediately loved her work and her ability to color correct hair like my own. My first experience with Arielle dates back to August 2019 when she was at another salon in Temple City--she was so sweet, personable, attentive AND was able to get my hair to a blonde tone in our first session! I was so pleased with not only her work, but how kind she was that I followed her on over to Salon Pure in DTLA when she moved from her previous salon. I've since seen her twice at this location (November 2019 and February 2020) and cannot stress enough how amazing she is! She always gets my vision right in terms of color and her cuts are always clean and beautiful. She never rushes and takes her time to get my hair right and looking pretty!
