DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES COME HERE FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH JUDY. She has no style, she has no concept of how to treat her customers, and honestly has no idea how to cut or style hair. And even given all of that, she somehow has this overblown ego problem where she thinks that she is actually good at what she does.
Also, if you come here, you have to call several times to confirm your appointment. I booked an appointment for me and my sister a MONTH in advance and they lost the appointment three times during that month. The appointments were for updos for my cousin's wedding and even on the day of, they had the appointment wrong. Luckily, I had called and was able to change it in time but if I hadn't called, we would have shown up and they would not have had our appointment times right and we would have been late to the wedding. Are you kidding me? And the worst part of it--when I complained about it to Judy, her response was: "well it all worked out in the end so we're not going to give you a discount. I don't get why you're complaining." Newsflash to Judy--it only worked out because I called the morning of the appointment to confirm, which I shouldn't have to do. Also, did Judy ever apologize? Nope. Instead, she gave me and my sister attitude the entire appointment.
If poor customer service isn't enough of a reason to not come here and see Judy, she also has no idea what she's doing. First of all, she refused to do an updo for my sister because her hair was too "clean" and claimed that meant she wouldn't be able to curl her hair. I'm no hair stylist but isn't there this thing called hair spray? And even if that's true, someone should have mentioned this when we called to make the appointment. No one mentioned this to us the FOUR times we called about the appointment and I still have trouble believing that you cannot give someone an updo if they have washed their hair in the last 5 days (which is what Judy claimed--she literally said FIVE DAYS--how gross is that?)
Since she refused to do an updo for my sister, she decided to give her bangs. Okay, bangs are a big deal. It's a big decision and you should think about it before deciding to just cut away. Anyway, my sister was hesitant but Judy pushed her into getting them done, insisting it would look great. Judy was incapable of cutting her bangs straight and also incapable of cutting the back of her hair straight. My sister left the salon in tears and did Judy do anything to fix this? Of course not. Instead, she charged her full price and said she would get used to it and moved onto the next appointment. What on earth is wrong with this woman?
While my sister was outside crying and trying to collect herself, Judy asked me what I thought. I told her it wasn't my personal style but that I hoped my sister would come to like it. Judy's response? "Sometimes you just need to push people into realizing what looks good on them. I know what looks good and this looks good. She'll come around." Excuse me? First of all, you are wrong. You have no idea what looks good. Second of all, how dare you impose your view on someone else? You check with your client first to make sure it's something they would like before doing it. You don't just "push" something on them.
Anyway, when it came time for my updo appointment, she asked me what I wanted. I said I had a few ideas but asked if she had anything in particular in mind. Her response? "I've never had a client not know what they want for an updo when they came in. You just tell me what I want and I'll do it." Seriously? Yes, I said earlier you should not impose your view on your client but you SHOULD be able to give recommendations. You're a stylist; you're supposed to know how to recommend a good style and then see if your client would like it or not. Nope, not Judy. She is incapable of doing that and instead wanted me to tell her exactly what I wanted and then she would do it. Fine. Since there were no magazines or books that had pictures of updos at the salon (which is unheard of to me, by the way), I found a picture of an updo online on my phone that I liked and showed it to her. She said she could try to do something similar but it wouldn't look exactly like it. Wait, so you can't recommend an updo for me and want me to give you an exact picture to imitate, but if I give you the picture, you can't promise how it will turn out? What on earth is wrong with this woman and how has she not been fired already?
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES COME HERE WITH JUDY. Judy needs to be fired immediately. And also given a lesson or two on how to treat her customers. I've never been more inflamed about a hair salon experience in my life. This is also the only bad review I have ever given on Yelp and I stand by it. read more
