I had such a good experiance here a couple weeks ago. I found them on Yelp (whom I trust very much!) and called to make an appointment. I was originally schedualed to have Jackie do my hair. On the day of my appointment I recieved a call from the receptionist and she said that Jackie had to go home sick and wanted to know if I could come in earlier. I couldn't because of my work schedual that day so she said that she would figure it out and call me back. (She was extremely nice about it!) She called me back a few minutes later and she said could get me in with Shannon who was a few levels up from Jackie. I told her that would be fine. I came in for my appointment and fell in love with Shannon. All of the girls there were extremely nice and when I came in they offered me tea, water or coffee (I love being offered refreshments) Shannon went over with me what she thinks would be good for my hair. We decided to take it slow and go a little darker with some highlights added in. She did a small cut that made a huge difference and showed me some great hair styling techniques. Because of the schedualing difference my appointment semi overlapped with another person but Shannon gave me a discount and did an extra treatment to my hair. Overall I will be going back to see Jackie (Shannon's level is a little too expensive for me but if I could afford her I would totally go see her again). Total fan of Shannon's. Salon = 3 stars, Shannon = 5 stars; thus the 4-star review. This salon has a very Christian orientation, especially during the holidays and totally rockin' music year-round - set to a "6" out of 'Ten' in volume. From the moment you enter Moda you're greeted as a friend, by the Receptionist, Miss A., tea service at your fingertips, all the niceties that make a day-with-the-girls experience special. My last three times there I've asked if the music could be turned down, but if you're a Rocker, or want to clap to the music, THIS is the place! Not really a 'spa' in the elegant, stylish way of thinking. But a great place to dish-the-dirt, have a blast, and listen to the tunes! I went to MODA twice in 3 days! I wanted a cut and foil, but didn't have time before a wedding shower I was throwing. Instead, I called and decided to go with an airwave - cheap and super fast! it looked great. Definitely keep this place in mind for a quick style before a fun event or a fancy night out. Much cheaper than other places around, but with the same quality. I saw Michelle again for a cut and foil 2 days later - and it looks fantastic. I love how bright and blonde my summer look is. Again - the whole thing is a great deal compared to other high end salons as well. Okay, so if you read my other review of my previous salon, it's obvious that I'm in the market for a new salon and a new stylist. I haven't actually had my haircut yet, so this is a more of a WATCH THIS SPACE review. "But why four stars?" You ask. Because I walked in on a whim and was impressed by the energy and by how the salon was run. I was treated like a long time customer, and the front end manager, Carmen, actually listened to what I was looking for and thought about it before recommending a stylist. Then I was actually able to meet my stylist on the spot, and we seemed to click right away. Even if we didn't I wouldn't feel weird to say that I'd rather be seen by someone else. Hopefully they will follow through. I've got three other reservations at three other places to cancel because so far, this salon feels right. We'll see. . . read more

I love this salon. I have been going here for the past three years. The owner is a mother-daughter team! I love that it's a local business that believes in continual education of their employees too! I like hearing about the cool trainings they get to go too. I was introduced to Moda by my sister who saw Shannon four year ago. I started going to the salon and seeing random hair dressers because my sister loved Moda. I was sold on going there three years ago. long story...I got married in Hawaii but I had a wedding reception in Wa. I called in last minute to schedule hair and make up and they were able to fit me in the day of the event. (I totally spaced on booking stuff for Wa- oops) that was 3 years ago and I have kept coming back ever since to just Shannon! She does great hair cuts and helped transition my hair from a short inverted bob... To helping me grow out my hair. I now have really long hair with ombré coloring. I would definitely recommend her for coloring! Besides seeing Shannon, I would recommend her best friend Katie as well! I've never had Katie cut my hair however I always like her cuts and colors when I'm there! read more

If there was 0 stars that would be good. So apparently didn't learn my lesson and went to my sis in laws girl at Moda on 8/17. Even before I sat on her chair I told her the only reason I was going back was because she had good reviews with my family. Needless to say it was a disaster, hours spent and - my balyage looked like an ombré and had big chunks. My haircut was long on one side and short on the other. So she redid my haircut (had me return) and then to redo my balyage (return again and more hours again) had to dish out $$ because she just wants to fix the chunks. Redid the balyage and reasserted me of a certain look (blonde/ lighter side ash) but ended up with chocolate hair. Sad that I am $400 short today and had to see the Dr. For an anxiety attack the next day because I was pissed. People are just so not fair and I am done being a nice person. If you can't do a good job, then why the hell do your job? Nothing is more sad than people who pretend to know it all. Or why say something and give a complete different results. Completely done with the salon. Twice burned by 2 different stylists. read more

Moda USED to be great - but I can no longer support this local salon. I went to Moda for many years, first for hair services (Robyn) and eventually for aesthetician services (Keegan). Both women were fantastic at what they do, although reception had high turnover and scheduling began to deteriorate. Both stylist & aesthetician have since left and now I'm understanding why - the owner is incredibly difficult . In trying to resolve an outstanding issue with a "skin saver" gift card sold to me as a way to save a bit off facials and waxing, I was told by Jamie (the owner) that it only covers facials. Okay fine, but after Keegan left they had 4 different aestheticians turnover in a year, and now can't find one to schedule with! Jamie (the owner) refuses to refund the $300 balance even though they can't seem to hold on to an aesthetician to perform the facials this gift card was intended. Over a year later, two weeks ago, again I call to schedule a facial - no return call. A week later I walk into the salon to try to schedule and they can't since the owner is now handling "until they can find someone and we can't schedule her time, she's not always here. She'll get back to me." Yeah, I'm not holding my breath with unfulfilled promise. Again people, over a year of trying to use up my gift card balance that the owner says she WON'T refund and can ONLY be used for skin services, but they can't hire a replacement. Quite frankly, I don't want this woman handling my facial even if she showed up to her salon! I'm not one to rant or complain on line, but this has been going on for so long (owner unfulfilling services previously paid for and repeatedly avoiding handling the issue of what I deem as theft at this point) that I can't in good faith let you all believe this is good business practice, nor a good place to get your salon services. Take a tip from the wonderful stylists that left, and move on! There are so many local salons that would treat you much better! read more

Love this place! I went to get a facial from Audrey, and she is phenomenal! Besides being so kind and making me feel comfortable and relaxed, she knows how to treat skin well! We talked before she started the facial about my skin type and what skin concerns I had, then she incorporated specific products into the facial to best address those things. I also have pretty sensitive skin, but everything she used did amazing things for my face! 100% recommend Audrey if you are looking for an esthetician, shes the best!! read more

I have been seeing Emi Doyle at Moda for the last 7+ years. Before Emi, I was never consistent with where I got my hair done or who I had do it. She is the absolute best out there! She knows exactly what I want when I describe it and she is always open to changing things up when I'm looking for something different! She's been my go-to for my wedding hair, pre-baby, post-baby, and everything in between! She is so sweet, always has great conversation, and very consistent. I hate to share my girl with anyone else, but I do highly recommend!!! read more

I have been going to Moda for about a decade now! The entire staff is wonderful. I personally have seen Dani the most, for my hair and skin care treatments. I can trust her completely with both my hair and my skin! Dani makes me look and feel my best. Her customer service is amazing. She listens so well and also picks up on subtle clues that I may not have known how to properly communicate. Every time she does my haircut and/or color it looks and feels incredible. I really wanted to love this salon because it's close to my house and has late hours. I just can't though. I left a review on demand force after getting an email to give them feedback. No one has responded or cared. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but I'm at my limit for patience. Today I really needed to get in for a quick style and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE FOR ALMOST AN HOUR! I gave up trying to call. I even left a message. They have a front desk person. Even if they were busy, someone should have picked up the phone after me calling about 6 times. NO ONE ANSWERED OR RETURNED MY VOICEMAIL. They are still open! Here's the rundown of my experiences: (Don't go to Laura!) I have 2 sets of feedback to give. First, I have been taken care of by Sydney a few times and she has always been lovely. I have fusion extensions and it makes me very nervous to have someone new touch them. She was very patient and kind, all while remaining respectful of my requests and my need to make certain product requests. She also paid attention to the exact details that I request and gave me excellent service. The times that she took care of me, she was very respectful of my time and schedule. I have a very limited schedule and often get my hair styled right before an important event or photoshoot. My hair typically takes 30-45 minutes for just a curl, or 1 1/2 hrs for a wash, dry, and curl. She was fantastic about getting things done in that time, especially being a newer stylist. 5 stars for her. My other review is the complete opposite. No stars if I could give it. I came in and had a curl only (hair was clean and dry), telling the stylist from the moment I sat down that I had to be out of there no later than an hour. That I had a photoshoot immediately after that I had to be on time for. I was not a fan of her personality to begin with, I felt very uneasy because it didn't seem like she was really listening to me or taking things I was saying very seriously. She didn't seem "all there". Kept asking me the same questions over and over. She took her absolute sweet time doing my hair. What should have taken no more than 30-45 minutes at the most, took her over an hour and a half. I was told she was an experienced stylist, years of doing hair. I continuously told her we were running out of time and that I was now late and we had to push the shoot back. She not once hurried, even at the end when I repeated over and over that I was now late. She continued to act like it was no big deal. Would giggle about it even. So rude! I finally had to take the comb out of her hand and finish the top of my hair myself so tha I could leave. I then get to the counter to pay and I'm told the curl only with a curling iron would be $75. I was NOT told this up front or I would have declined the service. I have never been charged so much for a curl. I was in fact quoted $40 over the phone for the service, which is typical for my hair. I get blowouts and curls on a weekly basis, I have never been charged $75 for the curl alone. I think the communication was extremely poor and my time was not at all respected. I adore Sydney, but I haven't been back in to the salon at all since, because of the experience with that other stylist. (Laura maybe? I'm terrible with names) read more

I felt very uncomfortable at this salon. I came to get a foil and the woman I got was very awkward. She didn't seem too confident in her skills and the outcome of my hair? well... the blonde was totally off. I went to school for hair and simply wanted my new growth to match up with the foil in the rest of my hair. Instead, it came out wayyyy too cool, almost white, plus I paid more than I was quoted at when all was said and done. I was not happy with my hair or cringed at the price tag. She should have been upfront about any additional cost along the way and acknowledged the fact that the toner was over the top (it eventually did fade out). Even so, go to Namaste Salon in edmonds instead and see Kyli! The price is right and the ambiance is better! read more

Not one to write reviews but this salon and Mayghan most definitely deserves one. Mayghan has been cutting my hair for years now and I don't think I'll ever trust anyone else with my hair. She knows exactly what you want/need and is so good at customizing and tailoring to each of her clients. She does an amazing job every time and for that I'm very loyal to Moda! I've been in the salon several times and everyone has always been so welcoming and it's such a great energy in there. I can't wait for them to open back up again so I can get my well overdue haircut! She has excellent personal style (I often copy her latest 'do') and can cut and style with the best. On top of all this she is an exceptionally positive and sweet person. I've never really found it worth it to pay more then $20 for a haircut, especially when I go home and fix it to exactly how I want it anyway. This is as good as it gets. I have been going there for several years. You can forget memories of bad haircuts and/or hair coloring. Moda evaluates your history, and your hair carefully. Your stylist will meet you at the front desk. No need to wander off and wonder where your stylist is! If you don't need or want products, they are not pushed on you. All your information, including color formulas are stored on computer. And yes, custom color is something they do very well. Moda also keeps their stylists fresh with instruction on the latest trends and how to work with them. We have the best, right here in Edmonds, including the great spa. upstairs. No need to go downtown to go to the most cuurent and "best" salon. Stay close to home and enoy Edmonds. How to make a day of heaven. read more

If you want to walk out of the salon feeling like your the hottest thing to hit the sidewalk that day-this is the place to go. I personally see Jackie, and she is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! She is a perfectionist, and my hair looks like a million bucks after I leave. YES it is a little pricey compared to other places, but when you walk in EVERYONE offers you a coffee, doesn't matter if its a neighboring stylist or the receptionist. They remember you and love their jobs. I even got my picky mom to come here and she is a lifer now. :) I can't express to you their customer service is above and beyond fantabulous- (Fantastic & Fabulous) I am never disappointed when I leave here, and they listen to you about what you want. If they suggest something for your hair-its because they care! They don't want to try and up-sale you on product, they care about the well-being of your hair. They are basically hair doctors- So get your prescription filled! LOVE LOVE LOVE that the owners (mother and daughter) are actual stylists that WORK there, I mean when was the last time you were styled by the owner?? I got a balayage with liana and I hate my hair color I had a consultation with her at first to show her the hair color that I wanted and told her that if it doesn't look good on me that I don't want to get it but she said it will look good it was my first time dying my hair and I payed $200 for it I waited a month to see if it would look better as I wash my hair but it didn't I hate the hair color I went back to get it fixed she just used a product to fade it away still is the same color and looks bad on me I like my natural hair color much better, it was a waste of money and it damaged my hair read more

This is the best salon by far in the Edmonds, Woodway, Lynnwood, Everett area. My stylist, Emi Parker is top notch and knows exactly what she's doing. I was there today with highly damaged hair. She made my hair look like it has never looked before. She did a top-notch haircut and color and I will never ever go to another salon again.thank you Emi and Moda for the fabulous service and friendliness. I am not really attached to my hair but I want it to look good. I usually go into a salon and tell them to do whatever they think would look the best. Thinking that if I give them artistic freedom that I will get the best haircut. Unfortunately this doesn't always work... Moda is the first place that I can say that to any stylist and know that I am in good hands. I have NEVER had a bad haircut! I now take my 4 year old. She loves it! Well, I guess I can't always trust the reviews on Yelp. I was looking for a new stylist, and made an appointment at Moda. The only positive thing I can think of to say is that the prices were reasonable. However, the decor is dated, the stylists are not the classiest-looking people that I've ever seen, the receptionist was squeaky and needed her roots bleached. But let me get to my personal experience. My stylist was pushy, pushy, pushy. She treated me like I was an idiot. Did a very, very mediocre coloring job, saying "you never know what it will turn out like." The cut was uninspired. Mostly, it was her pushiness that bothered me. After my cut, she brought me a sheaf of discount coupons to use next time, mostly rewards for referring new clients to her. Desperate? I think so. But the most insulting thing? When I was leaving, standing near the squeaky receptionist, she said, and I am quoting her, "I need to see you back here in six to eight weeks. I want to do an all-over color on you." This is just after I spent over a hundred bucks on highlights. "I want to see you back here in six to eight weeks"? What is she, my doctor? I left there feeling demeaned and insulted. I cannot recommend this place. Go elsewhere. I, too, will continue my search. read more

My daughters and I have only had one good experience here. They kept going back because they loved the young vibe. We've had bad haircuts, spent hundreds of dollars on a cut and perm and my daughter came home with STRAIGHT hair, asked if there was anyone available to cut mine after popping in and was given a cut by the most expensive styling in the salon without telling me before hand. I didn't even know that a haircut in Edmonds could be that high. We kept giving this place a chance but the perm that didn't take was the last straw. She listens to you about your individual hair concerns and has the expertise and experience to make suggestions that make a difference, with the right products and the right services that she can provide. I have hair extensions and it has been an easy process that has worked out amazing. The extensions are very natural looking and feeling, lasts a long time, and also fairly low maintenance. I also have curly hair that can damage easily and Mandy has helped me find products that have helped my hair grow stronger and be its best. The cost is reasonable, and although higher than some, it is less than others. But, it is always worth the extra cost when it comes to something as important as your hair. Well worth the extra cost to have your hair turn out exactly as you expect and the best that it can be. Mandy is a true professional and always a pleasure to spend time with. read more
