New to the Phoenix area and 1+ years since my last trim, I was apprehensive about who I would let touch my hair. Kelly (one of the owners) gave me a free haircut/make-up application for a first visit! Seemed like a logical start! After a very pleasant phone conversation with the appt setter, i was set up for a trim with Desiree. I arrived and was impressed at the salon as soon as I entered. Walls of nicely organized products! To my right was a canned-food drive box, which i would later learn that when I bring a can in- i'll receive discounts on products! WIN WIN! I was greeted, waited for 5 minute (browsed extensive product/makeup/handmade jewelry selection) before Desiree came to greet me - I was a bit early, so they got me in right on time! Desiree immediately asked me what I was looking for, my goals for length, part, etc and gave me some physical examples how she could help me achieve length and volume for having very FINE SOFT hair. A relaxing scalp/temple massage was to follow, delicate/warm wash/conditioner. Desiree was a pleasure to chat with and she kept me laughing throughout the appointment. She carefully put in a few long layers, trimmed my bangs, and procceded to blow dry and style my new do! Upon finishing up-she made sure I knew which products she used and asked if I wanted to purchase either, which i did. She also handed me a few referral cards/promo cards for me to receive future discounts on cuts/products. She hugged me goodbye. I was impressed by her professionalism and thorough consult...keep in mind my service was free, so she could not assume I would be tipping or buying anything. I felt as though she took the extra time to make me feel important and to make sure I got exactly what I came there for. This is a FULL SERVICE SALON that has it all together. One word. amazing. I've never been to a salon where I'm asked if I would like water with lemon or tea. VERY well taken care of here, the staff is soooo sweet and makes you feel comfy. I have curly hair and getting a good cut has always been a challenge. I have recently started following the curlygirl no shampoo techniques and my curl journey took off. I started using the Deva Curl products and researched the tips and techniques. After a couple months I determined I needed a Deva Cut - a dry cut. Few salons do the techniques and on the Deva Curl website they listed many east valley salons and Salon Estique in central Phoenix near me. I called and verified with the receptionist that someone knew the technique. She was nice enough to double check. I then made an appointment with Sue Ellen. When I went for my appointment I was so happy to see she proudly rocked a full head of curls. Yes! She knew exactly what I wanted and the products I use. Even though they don't carry the Deva Curl products Sue Ellen used their similar line. She gave me the awesome dry cut I wanted and is so supportive of my curl journey. I see Laurie Francis at Salon Estique as does most of my family and close friends. She is as talented as she is friendly, and with out a doubt the best stylist I have ever been able to see. After having a baby it is not only a treat, but seldom I do get to do something nice for myself. Laurie always makes it a point to make me feel beautiful even when I walk in with spilled coffee and juice down my shirt. Laurie makes me look forward to leaving the salon to show my husband the new style, but hopeful to spend an extra few minutes in the chair with her. :) I recommend Laurie Francis to everyone of my girlfriends, whom don't already see her. Finally! I look gorgeous! And I owe it all to Hollis and the Salon Estique staff. My hair color was faded to a single color that doesn't exist in nature (but resembled applesauce) and my cut was dated and made me feel dowdy. Luckily, I was rescued by Hollis and she added dimensional highlights and low lights to give my hair a natural, shiny color. I live in Tucson and even with the cost of gasoline, I plan on driving up to Phoenix to see Hollis every six weeks. Hollis really listened and recommended wonderful hair products. Her assistant was completely professional and at no time did I feel ignored by Hollis, as I had the most wonderful scalp and hand massage from this nice gentleman. I had a new talent Denise cut and color my hair. She was awesome! She listened to me about the lenght of my hair. She checked my coloring and eye color to make sure the dyes would look good. She did an awesome job at cutting my hair. I never felt so beautiful leaving a salon! I also had a facial by Faye. She was so out of this world awesome! My skin was radient for days! I was told by a friend and Licensed Stylist that I ought to consider going to a Bumble and Bumble Trainer for a Styling Consult. Salon Esthique is next door to one of the Yoga Studios where I practice and I decided to stop in and see about a Consultation. They scheduled me with Peggy, their Master Stylist and Head Trainer. They told me to come prepared with my styling tools. I had been working with a Stylist I adore, yet she had told me that my hair was thinning because of my age. My genetics say otherwise. I have long hair that I process with monthly weaves of both bleach and color, and the nature of my hair requires me to blow it out, daily. I take excellent care of my hair because of what I put it through. I was considering changing Stylists and I felt Salon Esthique could offer me growth through better workmanship. Peggy was very nice and told me that I was very good at styling my own hair. She looked through my hair and recommended a haircut. Very reluctantly, I decided to let her cut my hair. I normally have to let someone color my hair first, before I feel safe to have them trim or cut my locks. I told her NOT to cut the fringe around my face; that I had been attempting to grow it out for some time and had difficulty doing this because people would cut into it, often, without discussing it with me. She said she would't; that it looked great. She also asked if she could take a few inches off the ends. I gave her permission to take two additional inches off the one my previous Stylist had just taken, two weeks prior. With the exception of her forgetting our discussion and taking over an inch off my fringe, the cut was great. I have been trying to figure out how to style my fringe ever since. That day, Peggy also recommended a Bumble and Bumble line to repair my hair, during our first Consultation. I began using the line she recommended in the exact way she laid out for me and this, too, may have lead to the damage I'm now experiencing. It actually made the texture of my hair worse, not better. I have since returned to using the Pureology and Aveda lines I've come to trust. She also talked me into working with her for Color. Because the cut was so good and I thought I could work with her around the communications issues, I agreed. Bad idea. I went in with somewhat damaged hair. After the second coloring, my hair has been left with patches of breakage that are 3 - 4 inches shorter in length and areas of my "fringe" (now bangs) are broken off stubs. My entire head of hair has split ends and curls up at the ends. It feels like straw or plastic in patches. Instead of looking like someone who spends a great deal of money taking care of her mane, my hair looks cheap, uneven and extremely dry. When I called to complain to Management, Ashley, the store Manager contacted me and was extremely apologetic. She said she wished I would've allowed them to perform corrective services. At that point, there was no way. I explained to her that I wanted to keep the hair that I have and that either Peggy was pulling the color through or there was an issue with the Wella product that they use and that I had returned, with my tail between my legs, to my previous Stylist, who began corrective measures. Ashley offered me a facial or hair service to rectify the issue. I declined. I am beyond angry. This has been a very expensive lesson and my hair probably won't repair itself for at least 6 months. If you choose to go to Salon Estique, I recommend a heavy dose of communication and coloring a test area before proceeding with services. Very disappointed. read more

My two teenagers made an appointment to have their pin straight shoulder length hair trimmed. It cost $35 last time. The girls made the appointment and got the trims. When I showed up to pay the bill was $150! The girl at the register told me that the haircuts were given by the "top tier" stylist and the owner. Expensive for mediocre stylists. This place nickels n dimes their customers. $41 for toner alone. My full highlights cost me nearly 200 for a jr stylist...actually I saw 2 stylists (which I never asked for). One did my highlights and one dried my hair. I was charged for the blowout also (not included w highlights). Both stylists were basically straight out of beauty school and high school and only been working for 1 year. Nothing totally wrong w either stylist, they both did OK work. Not 200 worth, but 120-140 would have been more reasonable. I doubt I'll b going back here, as it was my 3rd time. Sure they have some rock solid stylists who are probably super expensive, but seems like also a high turnover w stylists. I don't like how they pass you around from stylist to stylist during the service either. It's very impersonal. Business first, then their clients needs. I miss the days when you had one experienced hairdresser who you trusted. This place doesn't subscribe to that apparently. Not exactly "high-end" if you ask me. Also, my hair is a lot drier than it was before. The one stylist left the toner on for WAY too long...about 15min. I just washed my hair n it still smells strongly of toner. I'm definitely going to have to work at getting the moisture back in my over processed hair. Annoyed. read more

The worst place EVER for a pedicure! My 11 year old daughter and I had pedicures. The massaging of our lower legs lasted like 60 seconds or less. As for removing the dead and dry skin off my heels was really quick too. When she polished our toenails, she had gotten polish on our toes and all around them. There were also areas on our toenails that she missed! No one has gotten back to me, after a phone conversation with the receptionist. We went and had our pedicures done at Wal-Mart and they did an AWESOME job and I will go there monthly instead of this salon. I am thinking of looking for a new salon to do my hair. Salon Estique has never done a crappy job on my hair but this experience might make me go somewhere else.and I have been a customer for years. read more

I went in on Saturday for a complimentary first time make up. I assume it is to get you hooked and come back. Not happening. I was greeted nicely and offered something to drink. The girls were nice but my make up sucked. The eyeshadows were poorly applied, not even on both eyes, they looked different. The eyebrows makeup was applied unevenly, too. The lipstick was over my lip on one side. After leaveing teh salon, I had to rapidly correct my make up for my engagement pictures. But what was harder to correct and what actually got me really upset, was that my eyelashes were all stuck together by the eyelash make up. It looked like I had 4 eyelashes on each eye. I recently participated in a silent auction and bid on and got a certificate for services at Salon Estique. The money went to a great charity, so I thought why not try someplace else, especially since the reviews seem overwhelmingly good. Everyone there was so nice, the place inviting and relaxing. They offer water with lemon and even wine! The manager stepped in to make sure everything was good, and Mark did an excellent job with recommendations for a cut, color, highlights, dry and style. I will definitely go back, best color I've had done and I loved the cut! And the best - far less expensive than my normal gal at JCPenney!! read more

I gave this salon five stars and that's because of their amazing aesthetician, Liz. She does all of my waxing from brows, arms, to Brazils and is gentle with my skin and listens to exactly what I want. I also love her facials. Liz has a great sense of style and knows how to beautify you in an instant. Not to mention she is adorable, friendly, and forms great connections with her clients. My husband met the owners at a First Friday event months ago and then we just happened to walk by. We have been traveling in the RV for going on 2 months, so we were desperately in need of hair cuts. Im so glad we gave this place a chance! My husband's hair has never looked so thick! And I awoke today with my hair looking perfectly styled! The little extras they give you, scalp massage, hot towel, hand massage, are a nice touch. I absolutely loved the products used to wash and style my hair. I'm probably going to go back just to purchase the styling gel she used. It was put in wet and then blow dried. My hair still looks thick and shiny! All the staff are very friendly and dressed fashionably. Personally I won't go to a place were the stylists have bad hair and clothes. It's a huge red flag! OMG! Megan and her assistantTaylor totally took care of me Sat. I was more of a mess then they knew.My current hair person messed up big time a week ago and spent more then 9 hours in 4 days trying to "color correct' her mistake.And still left me with green blue ashy muddy awful colored hair.I was afraid to do anything or go anywhere different along with not affording the cost of "fixing" this mess. I want to start off this review by saying I have gone to Salon Estique many times and have had really good luck with some great stylists, but today was not one of them. The person I saw today was a Master II stylist and was very friendly, but I do not think she totally understood what I wanted out of my haircut. I showed her a few pictures and explained in what I thought was pretty good detail as to what I expected. She cut my hair and started blowdrying and then passed it off to her assistant who took 45 minutes with help to blow dry my shoulder length hair. The end result was not even close to what I had explained, although I am just thankful it was not a complete hack job and I can make do in the mean time while my hair grows out. The stylists there are over booked and are usually working on 2-3 customers at a time, I think I would have had a better result if she had the time to just focus on one haircut. I ended up being in the salon for 1 hour and 30 minutes for a trim/ haircut. In the end I paid a ridiculous amount for something that was less than exceptional. I expected more from the salon and stylists in keeping up with the latest trends especially when you pay an arm and a leg for a mediocre haircut, when I can go to other salons, pay less and get something better. I also think that the salon staff could dress more professional, some of the skimpy outfits were a little to much. I can't say I will return to Salon Estique, but I do hope they take this review as constructive criticism and nothing more. read more

Today I received a new style and cut at Salon Estique. I love it! When I was done, I told my stylist that I also needed to change my look to match the new style. She referred me to Makeup artist /Aesthetician Sarina Pruitt. Not only did I get exactly what I wanted but Sarina also showed me how to achieve the look in 15 minutes when I do it my self. I wanted something natural so I could wear it everyday to work. The eye shadow, blush and lip gloss was so natural and beautiful that when I went shopping after ward a stranger said I was glowing. She asked me what kind of makeup I was wearing. I told her I just had it done at Salon Estique by Sarina. Update: Eva left, my second stylist, Cyndra left after a few years, and I now go happily to Deserie. She is a true professional, always asking for input, listening carefully, never cutting too much or ignoring how you want your hair to look. Her assistants are great as well. I require a special waterproof apparatus that lets water drain into the sink from my hair, due to neck issues. They cheerfully go about setting this up, and are truly concerned that they not injure my fragile neck. I highly recommend this salon.
