Hi there! I wanted this to be a more positive post, but Salon Estique fell quite short of expectations. Here are the details.... I'm new to the metro-Phoenix area and found Salon Estique through social media when one of their stylists caught my attention. I booked a haircut and partial color, and during the appointment she recommended adding a hydration treatment. I was happy to follow her professional recommendation. The total came to nearly $500, which I was prepared to invest for high-quality results and specialized knowledge. As someone with naturally bouncy curls, it's great to find a curl-focused stylist. Unfortunately, my search continues in metro-Phoenix. The results here were super disappointing. My curls were left flat and lacked their usual shape and volume at the top of my crown. At this price point, I expected a higher level of styling expertise and knowledge that enhanced my natural texture rather than diminished it. My stylist even commented, "I don't know why it's so flat on the top." Me either, sis :( I did get much better results when I washed and styled my hair at home. However, styling was part of the expense and experience. While I don't mind paying for skill, I left feeling disappointed in the overall result. I won't be back to Salon Estique. read more

I haven't been this happy and confident in a long time! I found Emma (@curlsbyemma) on TikTok and I just knew I had to book with her. I'm such a newbie with my curly hair so Emma and her assistant took their time to explain the process and the products thoroughly so that I can learn and know how to do this myself. I've never had a hairstylist to take their time and explain their process so it was greatly appreciated. I wish that this was a 5 star review as their staff and customer service was phenomenal and everyone was so nice. However, I went in wanting a complete color change and talked to the lady that was going to do my hair, before hand about my budget and what the process would look like. She told me to come in for like a consultation and test strip bc I did dye my hair about a couple years ago and when I got there I told them I trust them and just want something different . The end results are practically no different than what my hair already looked like and I paid just shy of $400 for what seems like nothing! Way over priced and I just wish they would've told me that what I wanted couldn't be done or at least done a test strip first to make sure. Very disappointed that my appointment was canceled just a couple of hours prior to when I was supposed to go. I've been literally so excited since I've booked this appointment a couple weeks back. I know it's out of everyone's control when someone has to call in sick but it's disappointing when there seems to be no solution other than rescheduling my appointment for later this weekend. Kells did an absolute AMAZING, THOROUGH job at fixing my awful hair that had been at the mercy of hair stylists in a remote foreign land who were not familiar with my kind of hair, who could not color roots, and who did not know how to cut my hair stylishly. Back to Kells...what did she do exactly? Firstly, she listened to me, and cut through my indecisiveness (I am admittedly not great at telling hairstylists what I want). I showed her one photo of a very old photo of me that I liked, and told her that I really needed a cut that would grow out well. I don't have long hair, but I like balayage as a technique to give dimension to the color. She was like "got it" and gave me a great cut that made me look 20 years younger, and the balayage so I don't look like a one-dimensional Elvira. Everyone loves it and I'm super-happy. So I am someone who has always struggled to style my hair. I never have been able to make my curls/ waves look good, which usually means I end up just pulling my hair up in a bun. I came here a few weeks ago to get a haircut and wow! Not only did I get a great cut, I was taught how to easily style my hair to make it look great all the time! I can now style my hair in 5 minutes! So amazing. When I came in, I was thinking maybe I wanted a perm or something to achieve better curls. Really liked this place and my hair dresser no hard feelings to her. I booked a blow dry and straighten and got a small trim to just cut a few mm of hair and shape it. I was going to Vegas for the weekend and just wanted to get glamorous. Woke up the next morning after taking precautions and buying a silk bonnet and pillowcase and my hair was completely fried and just ruined. Cried my eyes out the next morning because I thought it would look good for at least the weekend as the stylist said if I took care of it , it could last the week. Ended up putting my hair up and paid almost 200$ for this before the tip. I called and left a message heard no response due to them not being open. Had to call again and the receptionist said the manager saw it and was going to call me soon. I ended up getting that call from the manager Nico and it was so disappointing. Not only was she entirely rude about everything but refused it was their fault at all stating the hair dresser confirmed she used a low heat. Only offered me a 27$ refund due to that being the cost of the blow dry and straighten even though my appointment was based off that so not understanding how it was a 130$+ haircut when I barely even trimmed it. She the. Stated I could go in for a treatment if it was damaged but she didn't think it was. I am so disappointed as I had just recently started going and felt as though it was not taken care of whatsoever. I had to go to another hair dresser who I paid to completely cut my hair and treat it even he agreed it was fried and just poorly treated. I have naturally curly hair and really liked how they treated me with my hair. I called and asked if they could straighten it before and was promised they could but unfortunately the job was not up to par. This is so much more than hair- this is becoming YOURSELF. A little backstory: my sister has kept her hair covered for over a decade for religious reasons. She also never felt that she properly knew how to manage her curls. Enter Suellen. She taught my sister how to truly nourish and embrace her ringlets, and for the first time at age 33, my sister stopped covering her head and started receiving compliments on now what is her best feature! After having seen her transformation, I thought I may also be capable of understanding my curl pattern and decreasing getting-ready time, maintenance and even skipping the dreaded blow dryer; my hair had been round-brushed and flat- ironed since high school. While I was in town, I knew I had to give Suellen a try. I was incredibly nervous, but her own beautiful curls and demeanor put me at ease immediately. I used to cringe when I would get my hair cut- when it is straight, shrinkage matters. With the Devacut, the shorter the layers, the more flirtation and bounce. If you have curly hair and are not seeing SueEllen, you're making a mistake. Not only did she do an amazing job cutting and styling my hair, especially considering I hadn't had a haircut in almost 18 months because of covid, but she also made the appointment an educational session. She talked me through everything that she was doing and gave me tons of tips on how to best care for my hair. The only downside is she is so good that the wait can be lengthy to be seen by her. Between a cancellation on the salon's end, and one cancellation on mine, my first appointment took about 6 months to happen. ***Update: The stylist and I guess most of the salon doesn't offer kids cuts outside of a curly kids cut. While I was not told they didn't have the service I was requesting or that I'd be charged a woman's cut and style price, the salon updated my charge this afternoon after opening to the woman's regular cut price of $62. So def amazing if you're an adult but if you're trying to bring your kiddo they unfortunately don't have kids pricing. *** ***Update 2: I was originally told on 6/01 the refund would hit in 3-5 days. I waited until 6/16 to reach out as it still hadn't hit. I received a text on 6/17 that an $18 refund would be given and requesting my email for receipt. I immediately responded back advising the refund should be $48 not $18 as I paid $100 for the cut and was told it would be updated to $62. I did not receive a response it's now 6/22 and I've only received the $18 refund. I text again today to explain I was quoted and charged $80 for a kids curly cut and then was charged $100 for my son. Hoping this refund is resolved soon. It's been 3 weeks since the day I was initially told the cut would be adjusted to a woman's cut price* Let's preface this by saying that my sister has been a stylist in high end salons for over a decade. I have been a loyal customer coming here for curly cuts. I have ZERO issue paying $$$ for services when it's warranted. My first cut was just under $200. It was amazing. My last cut was a color and curly cut for over $550, again didn't bat an eye at all!!! There was a mix up with missing my appointment time after that because I didn't get a reminder text or email. I called right in at 9:00 am (opening time that day) to find out my appointment time and it was at 9 . They said it would be too late even if I left right then and told me to reschedule. Okay no issue I paid the $75 late cancellation fee without complaint. I'm literally not someone to complain about the cost of services. I wouldn't want someone to do that to my sister. I understand the training and everything that goes into this. I've referred several family members who booked and paid for their services and LOVED them. I've shouted their praises in my moms group of over 12k members every time someone asks for a curly rec However, I went today to for my daughter's kids curly cut. I was quoted $80 and charged $80. I've VERY happy with that cut. I called on my way out of the house to the appointment to see if I can add an appointment for my 4 year old son they said they could accommodate that. He does NOT have curly hair it wavy at best unless you twirl it and I made it very clear I did not want to book a curly cut for him. (This place has curl specialists but also offers regular non curly cuts) Everything goes well. The manager also named Desiree assisted my stylist in how to cut his hair and helped my stylist a lot. Love his cut as well. At the end I grabbed 2 products and a hair accessory, tipped 20% and paid without complaint. One lady initially was checking me out. A second woman who is usually at the front (she has the cutest Gengar cardigan I had complimented her on at a previous visit) walks up and says something to her that she will check me out so that I'm charged the "right price." They hand me the receipt and I was charged one HUNDRED dollars for a FOUR year olds regular scissor cut. Now they added layers and texture so I was expecting $40-50 tops. Let's keep in mind per their website a WOMANS hair cut and style starts at $61. When I went to checkout the lady goes oh so it's $80 for (my daughter's) cut and $100 for yours. I tell her... umm I didn't get my hair cut. But he did and point to my son. She goes okay so it's $100 for his. The receipt literally said for a Deva curly cut. I say well that doesn't make sense he had a regular non curly hair cut. She goes oh it's because they used the diffuser (for 3 minutes I might add let's also keep in mind I didn't ask for his hair to be styled she dried it really fast so she could finish the cut) I again say okay but that doesn't make sense because why would his regular scissor cut cost more than her curly cut? She goes well it's based off time. Again my 10 year old daughters $80 curly cut took 2.5 hours. My sons cut took at max (if I'm being extremely generous) 30 minutes but was more? But again I'm not the kind of person to argue, get loud etc. so I just said well the price is the price. Front desk lady goes yea well that's the price and I left. Will I keep going back for curly cuts? Probably, the (2) stylist I've used for curly cuts are both 5 stars. Amazing people. But again $100 for this cut? Absolutely insane read more

I had a hair cut and partial weave, by one of the owners, paying $300 for service and tip. However, during shampoo process, without giving me a smock, my back got soaked. After the shampoo, the owner had her assistant blow dry my soaking back. After leaving, I shopped at a couple different stores. That evening, as I took off my blouse, I saw half of the back was no longer beige-it was white. I'm surprised no one at the salon told me this as I left, visiting a couple stores with bleached half moon on back of blouse. When I inquired of compensation, at least for blouse value of $30, for service I was scheduling, I was as told they'd apply $30 toward merchandise only. I decided to no longer patronize this business. $300 out of my pocket, and blouse I can no longer wear, but if I buy merchandise, they'll discount it. I don't need merchandise. I had my haircut by Kelly. It is absolutely terrible. Her technicque was sloppy, my hair type is best when cut vertically amd moreover the trim i asked for (follow the existing shape is what I said) was not what I received. I was also charged for a Ouidad cut which is based on carving and slicing and vertical direction methodology but that is not what I received. Also another reason q Ouidad is pricey is they provide some styling tips and and they apply a ton of product. Iidn't even have a blown dry. This was per my request but in any event I told the girl when I made the appt that I wanted a regular haircut following the wedge shape I already had but Kelly should've corrected the appt type, she knows what type of service she provided but no, I was charged $127 plus my sons fee which HE was also charged for a puidad that he did not receive. Check out was also a nightmare when the girl asked if I would leave a cash or credit tip (I hadn't planned on topping at all, first because my hair looked so bad and two, because it was not the service I asked for and three because Kelly is the owner so that price I am paying is all hers, she is not working for tips. Anyway I thought it was impolite to assume I was tipping but I said I would pay $10 tip, she entered 10%. I asked her to fix it and she said she didn't know how. I left totally annoyed.
