I've been going to Tina for over 20 years before she started working at Salon Circa. At first I wasn't sure how comfortable I was going to be about going from a small salon to larger high end, but the change was seamless. I would follow Tina any where unless it was out of state. Salon Circa always feels welcoming and it starts at the front desk with April. She knows the regulars by name and always makes you feel right at home. I've been getting my hair colored long before it actually needed to cover grey. You can tell the stylist are all well trained in color by the amount of people that get color done there. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at Salon Circa. I went in for a shellac manicure and the results were not great. The technician took over an hour to do the manicure and when the polish was applied it bubbled and wrinkled. She will have you contort your hands in very odd ways to get the polish to cure under the UV light. I walked out praying the manicure would make it at least 24 hours (I am in a wedding party this weekend, so the manicure had to survive the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day), but when I woke up the next morning, my manicure had only gotten worst. I got the manicure at 2pm in the afternoon and didn't do anything other than go out for cocktails, but when I woke up the polish looked really horrendous. Pictures attached. read more

The garage during the week is great and you don't go to far into downtown for traffic. See that city, under my name? That's right, I fly from OKC now, to see him. Ok, and my family too. But really, mostly Drew. The first time I stumbled across him, it was pure luck, and I'm so grateful. Before, I was a mess of cowlicks and blonde hair that didn't quite work. Now, I have people stopping me on the streets to ask where I get my hair done. (Which is awkward when I tell them that first they need to buy a plane ticket.) Every time I step out of Salon Circa, I have some serious swagger... So much swagger that I've convinced every former roommate, every best friend to go see him. I think I'm up to 9 or 10 people I've sent his way. The color grows out beautifully, the cuts are amazing, I would follow him to the ends of the Earth. Join the Drew Fan Club, you won't regret it! I got my haircut a few days ago and I proceeded to wash out the dry style (which was obviously hiding the messy imperfections) to then see rushed, poor work done on my hair with several missed, uncut layers. Monica is my go to lady for all my hair needs. She Has been very personable and professional since the beginning, and continues to be an outstanding stylist every time I come in to see her. I never knew how much science goes into hair coloring..especially with mine. I have very stubborn thick/course/dark hair that requires special attention and time. Monica has been very thorough with explaining the process of bleaching (she is the Queen of Balayage!), and has always made my hair look even more amazing then before! Her knowledge about hair coloring puts me at ease during my appointments, and you could definitely tell she is putting her all into fulfilling your hair request. Salon Circa as a whole is pretty amazing as well. The place is located in such a convenient location, that it makes it so accessible to just walk right on over after work. The staff are all so friendly and helpful everytime I come in, never a negative Nancy in the house. All my past and present experiences at this salon have been outstanding. Monica cut my hair a month or so ago, and she did a fabulous job. I hate finding new stylists because I have really thick hair, and not everyone quite knows what to do with that. In fact, there have been a few occasions where the stylist takes one look at my hair and tells me it will cost an extra $20+ because it's so thick. None of that bullshit here. A cut with Monica was $50, which I think is more than reasonable, and she was super friendly and totally unfazed by my hair. I was the last appointment of the day, in fact was still there a little past their closing time, and never felt rushed or hurried at any point. The salon itself is clean and pretty. After a really disappointing experience at Rudy's, where I have been getting my haircut for years, I decided I needed to go to a salon and work with someone who understood my intense amount of hair, instead of sighing when they saw they were going to have to spend an hour with me instead of buzz-cutting 4 or 5 people in the same amount of time. Monica was professional, friendly, a good conversationalist, but also no pressure on me to chat when I was taking some time to sit back and relax and enjoy the experience. I didn't feel pressure to just get out (I've sometimes felt like I needed to leave with wet hair so that the stylist can get on with the next person), but she really took her time, cutting and blowing out my hair. This has been the longest relationship I have ever had and plan on keeping it no matter where I may live in the future. I have been seeing Lesly for all my hair care fun since 1995 and have gone from long to short to blonde to red. With the understanding that she has free reign and my complete trust, I just show up, relax and enjoy my time in this friendly, warm and inviting salon. Overlooking 4th Avenue (between Pike and Union) with my cup of tea, I just let the magic happen and concern myself with which magazine I want to read. On my most recent visit, we went a little darker and finished it off with a bit of a curl. In the event you want a brow wax or manicure while you get your color, that can be arranged as well by Julee and even a full make up/make over can be arranged. I have never had bad service and everyone on staff are completely attentive, professional, excellent at their craft and truly concerned with their clients needs. Just wanted to update my review to plug James Thomas' supreme skills for updos and special occasion makeup. On Drew's recommendation, I hired James for my wedding makeup and hair and could not be more pleased. James has years of experience in hair and makeup for theater and film (he teaches hair and makeup courses for theater, actually) and clearly takes great pride in what he does. He is confident, calm and put me completely at ease - I knew I was in good hands! About 6 weeks before my wedding we did a trial run and it was so much fun. I brought pictures of my dress, pictures of Brigitte Bardot, and a few hair ornaments. We talked it through and came up with a look that was exactly what I wanted: glamorous but not fussy, with a 60s beachy feel. James took photos of the 'do from all angles on my phone for reference on the big day. On my wedding day, I was recovering from being sick and worried about things going all right. James brought me a cup of tea and did everything he could to make it a calming experience in the salon. As soon as I was in his makeup chair, I felt 100% better. He did fantastic work again, of course, and helped me put the veil in and take it back out a few times. The prices he charged me for makeup and hair were extremely reasonable for the quality and level of service I received. Not a very good experience with Julie. My appointment was at 10:30. I arrived five minutes early she made me wait a good 15 minutes before I was ushered into a room saying that she didn't know that she had an appointment at 10:30, so she proceeded to let me wait and stew for another 15 minutes so in total I waited for 30 minutes for this woman. I'm visiting Seattle and I really did not appreciate it, my time is valuable...I'm here for a wedding wanted a simple mani-pedi, long story short ... I left!!!! read more

DREW!!! oh drew! when i first started hanging out with my friends/roommates, they spoke of drew nonstop. they would refuse to get their hair done anywhere else. any time they styled their hair they talked about what drew recommended or a technique drew showed them. i avoided this drew character for a while, assuming he wouldnt live up to his reputation in my delusional friend group. but then we met! and drew REALLY is that good. i can go in with an exact image of what i want and he will do it. or i can leave it up to him and know i won't be disappointed. sometimes i will ask for something (like a perm on colored hair thats already been chemically straightened) and he will be honest with me (it will trash your hair). he is really just great at LISTENING TO WHAT YOU WANT and making it work. he knows im intent on growing my hair out so he is really good at making trims just a trim. he knows im lazy with styling so he makes my style as low maintenance as possible. he knows i slack in scheduling my next appointment so he makes sure everything can grow out a little without being garish. we have those quintessential salon conversations where i SHARE everything. this is my first true hairstylist bond i have ever made. now that my hair is red, he is really good at helping me maintain it or alter it slightly when i am feeling bored. BUT this man does the BEST HIGHLIGHTS EVER. they are SO subtle. everyone i know has their highlights done by drew but they look unique on everyone. he does them really well dispersed and thin so they look fantastic but also grow out nicely. drew teal is magic. thats all there is to it. read more

Drew is the best. I've been seeing him for four years (or so). He does amazing work. I've gone from short to long hair during that period and he knows how to handle both varieties, and everything in between. I normally get a haircut, but before my wedding I also did color (to cover my greys, yikes!) and he was able to match the color perfectly. He listens to what I'm going for and also understand a persons face and style and helps create a look that is most flattering. I love Drew and I would follow him anywhere! I echo other's love for Drew! I'm so happy I found him. I've had short hair for a long time, and have never had a cut that I was able to manage growing out to a longer length (I could never get past the weird mullet phase!). Drew totally understood and gave me a GREAT cut, and now my hair is longer than I've ever had it before. He does a great job giving you a great cut for your hair type and how you maintain your hair. My old hairdresser had closed up her little one woman operation a few months back and I felt uncomfortable trusting anyone else enough to let them cut my hair. In this time I, shamefully, indulged myself in growing out my hair and attempting the "Manbun" look. Randy Evans from Salon Circa saved me and my hair from myself. His work reminded me why you pay money to have someone cut your hair. Randy is a true professional and based off the results, I'd say one of the best. I love my brand new doo. I love this Seattle gem! I am a hair stylist myself and extremely picky. I came in to this salon on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised! The front desk is friendly and prompt. I am hooked on Monica madina's expert services! She gave me an absolutely wonderful hair cut and detailed finished style. I come in regularly for blow outs and she give a great head massage at the shampoo bowl. I can call last min and get a reservation with her, and she is so friendly and personable! I would refer anyone to see her! I was paying $120+ to get cuts at salon 7, and I was not always happy with my service. My hair cut with Monica was $50 and it was AWESOME! I've been seeing Corinne for almost six years now and I am always more than pleased with my haircut. Seriously, I always get compliments, and that's saying a lot for a guys haircut. Randy Evans is truly amazing... an artist at his craft! I started going to Randy about 9 years ago. I had very fine, dull lifeless hair. Randy ensured me that by spring my hair would be healthier, thicker and longer. And if not, he would reimburse everything I spent with him up to that point. My hair was amazing! Much fuller, longer with a beautiful shine! For the first time in my life I had people compliment my hair. Randy knows exactly how to treat, style and color any type of hair. When I no longer worked downtown, I tried for several years to find someone closer to my home who could recreate the same thing Randy did... but after many attempts with friend recommended stylists I gave up and am making the drive back downtown to have Randy do my hair. He's amazing, cuts my hair so it keeps looking good as it grows out. And he works with what your hair can do, doesn't try to impose a style that won't work. He's a great listener, adjusts the cut to your lifestyle. Over the years I've tried long, short and in between. When I started I asked for something where I could shower and then just shake my head a few times and hair would look good. It did. Right now I have a style where I can go extra time between cuts.
