I am over the moon to have found Madison; she is amazing!! She has been cutting my husband's hair for years now, and my husband has been telling me to get my hair done by Madison, but you know... I mean... just no. I can't go to the stylist that does my husband's hair. Well, was I wrong! I have curly hair, and have tried so many different stylists that come highly recommended for curly hair, and have been sorely disappointed. Madison worked magic on my hair and gave me the exact cut/style I wanted! And she did a dry cut, so I knew she was giving me a cut that was tailored to *my* hair. Plus, she's fun, smart, and adorable. She asked if I wanted her to style (blow dry) my hair, and at this point I trusted her completely, so I said yes, even though I never blow dry my hair. I think it's called a blow out, but forgive me if I'm getting the terminology wrong. She made my hair look bouncy and cute and silky! Amazing! Normally after a haircut I run home and restyle my hair, but not this time! I preserved it for almost an entire week, getting compliments every single day. But the real test was when I finally shampooed and styled my hair by myself, which is usually a scrunch and drip-dry method. I am super low maintenance. Well, I LOVE IT!!! It looks completely different from when Madison styled it (I knew it would, and I told my husband not to get used to it, LOL), but it is completely me, and my curls frame my face just the way I hoped they would! Thank you Groupon for another fabulous find. I must have walked by this salon a hundred times and never noticed it. I see Fado on the corner of 1st and Columbia but never look downhill towards Columbia. It's super easy to schedule an appointment on their online system. Pick the service you want and the time frame you're looking to get it done. Then pick who is available at the time you wanted. The salon is very cute and has a nice warm feeling. When I got there, there were two little dogs running around but they weren't in anyone's way. I met Jacque, my hairstylist, for a wash and cut. She's really nice and talented. I got compliments on my haircut for the next two days! I will definitely be back for a complimentary trim on my bangs and schedule another appointment with her! read more

Well, Jacque's personality and friendliness get a 4 star but her attempt at coloring my hair gets the two star along with the fact that I reached out via email to schedule another appointment and never heard back. I went in two months ago for an all over color and a cut. My hair color turned out horrible, my roots were bright Jessica rabbit red and the rest of my hair was auburn. She tried to recolor it while I was there and it toned it down a bit but it was still bad. At that point I had been there 4 hours and was 38 weeks pregnant and over it(not to mention the dog peeing on the floor). I left, and went home and did my hair myself. She emailed me saying if I needed any color correction it would be complementary, but I was too pregnant to want to go back and sit through another session. So not being pregnant anymore I reached out via her email at the salon to schedule another cut/color(hey we all have our off days, maybe the next time would be better?) but I never heard back. Hence the review. My hair cut was great and her personality really was sweet. Sucks to give a negative review, I really wanted to like this place. Maybe I'm just not cool enough to get an appointment or even a call back. Oh well, I guess the $300 in gift certificates will also go unused. read more

By far the best haircut and color I've gotten in a LONG time. I had major hair envy for a gal at work - an adorable lob with sandy blonde balayage. After months, I finally worked up the courage to ask her where she gets her hair done, and she pointed me in the direction of Madison at the Burnt District. Their website is super easy to navigate, and I was able to find her availability and book an appointment for a couple weeks out. Geeking out, I went for the same lob that my coworker has, and it was by far the best my hair has ever felt. I have thick hair - and A LOT of it. She textured it just right so there was less weight, without making it look thin and shaggy. Later, I would go in to dye my hair brunette. With only a couple pictures and my vague description of what I envisioned, she completely nailed it. Aside from that, she's just pleasant to be around. She makes you feel like you're longtime friends just catching up over a glass of wine. (And, yes, she offers you wine!!) Burnt District is reasonably priced, and you will most definitely get high quality work. I would hate to trust my hair with anyone else! read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Madison at my art show, after I booked an appointment with her and not only is she super funny and down to earth she has an amazing salon located kiddy corner to Fado right by the entrance to the 99 off of 1st AVE downtown and the one thing about getting your hair done downtown is you always come out to a ticket... but conveniently there are parking garages around so you do not have to succumb to the cap off street parking. One great thing about Burnt District is Madison allows dogs so my dog got to come with me and hang out with her pup Josephine while I got my hair done. Great experience and Madison is a pro, there was no extensive waiting I felt like I was in and out, I got a full balayage and a major cut and I'm an Asian girl who looks like I was born blonde... winning and zero brass! Christopher was great! Very attentive and asked good questions to make sure i got the cut i was looking for. His technique and communication during cut were knowledgeable and helpful. I'm in a grow-out period and his plan to get me where i want to be made sense and made me feel optimistic. The shampoos/conditioners and products used left my hair shining and moisturized without overwhelmingly strong perfumes. I was greeted right away and offered tea or coffee while i waited, then my stylist was ready right on time. Salon felt professional but very inviting and inclusive. I'm not really this salon's target demographic, but Madison never turned me away so I'm going to pipe up with a word for any guy who isn't getting a satisfying cut from the old corner shop. I'm a middle-aged family guy who just wants to look my best while I still have hair. I was trying to recapture the old barbershop experience but suffering through bad cuts, or okay cuts by indifferent stylists, when my hair found Madison. I have a trick wave in front that makes it difficult to cut so that it doesn't grow out goofy. Madison kills it every single time. She's simply the best and most professional stylist my hair has ever had. You won't get a bad cut here. So I've been getting my hair cut by Madison since before she founded Burnt District and I watched her build the place practically with her bare hands. Her dedication to her business and to her customers is evident in the result -- both in the cool space she's created and on my head every time I walk out. One more thing. Madison is curious about everything so she's just plain fun to talk with while you're in the salon. As a designer, I know that design is as much about what you don't do as what you do. Mallory totally got it when I came in with a very short haircut that needed careful consideration and not a lot of cutting to turn from what it was into something expressive and alluring. She asked me about my goals for the haircut ("I want a boyfriend") and rocked it. On my short walk back to work, I got a "Looking great, Babe!"" and a "Hey hey hey!," which is NOT Seattle as I know it. Plus, that same day, I got chatted up in the elevator. Best yet, we have a plan to make it even better as it grows out. Ladies past 45 rocking a short pixie is tricky: Many possible aesthetic perils to navigate (Mannish, utilitarian, delusional, etc.) and I feel like I have a protector who cares and will put her heart and soul into helping me attract that elusive perfect boyfriend. This review is just for the experience over emails (on the first week of September 2015) and voice mail and not the actual service, as I canceled my appointment after booking it online. I wanted to get the Amazon local deal for haircut with conditioning treatment for a function in October and booked an appointment online (for haircut) even though I wasn't sure which option to choose but finally cancelled it after 9 days as I didn't get any reply after Madison's first email. I had sent 3 emails and left a voicemail and waited 9 days for my queries. I sent 2 emails after I canceled it, informing her that I cancelled it because I am disappointed that I never got any reply of my queries and that I had read good reviews about her work and really wanted to come, but she never replied back. I guess they don't need new clients especially if someone is going with a deal. I read few other reviews with the same experience where they didn't receive any reply back. I came here to get my eyelash extension, hoping it'll be great. - longer than they say it'll be done. - Bottom lashes and top lashes had gotten stuck together after, therefore made me tear up. (the patches were refreshing indeed, but i think they could've applied it more carefully where it actually did its job) - make sure all your new applied extensions are pointed UP, what its suppose to do. Not down, to the point where it feels like its touching your eye balls. But the lady that did my eye was friendly- pro :) I truly recommend you try something else- to have a better experience better yet, a more beautiful pain-less service :/ read more

Best haircut I've ever had. I will DEFINITELY be returning to Burnt District. It was recommended to me by a female friend after I had been asking around for a while in an attempt to find a place that can do a good men's haircut without charging $50+. It took me a little bit to find it but once you discover the tiny door beneath Fado's you know you're in for a treat. Walking in you are greeted by a large, open, uniquely decorated salon that does not play in to a specific gender role. I was greeted by Madison, the owner who promptly sat me down and offered me a beer. She gave me a kickass haircut, a kickass shot of Bullitt, and useful tips with how to style my hair in the future. She was very polite and entertaining. I hope their business skyrockets because this place is awesome. A beer, a shot and an amazing haircut made me feel awesome leaving that place. I've visited this Salon twice now. Both times for a partial Balayage and keratin treatment. Both times I have been very pleased. Madison does a great job with my hair. My highlights look natural and beautiful and the Keratin treatments work and last a long time. The salon has a great vibe too! Cool patterns on the floors, interesting paintings from local artists, and some vintage furniture complete the look. They also serve you any beverage of your choice while you get your hair done. So I got a gilt deal (or maybe groupon, I can't remember) to this place for a full set and refill, however, at the time I got it I didn't realize the place is only open weekdays during work hours! It's AWFUL for anyone with a job! I was pleased with my full set when I got it - but then they NEVER answered the phone and their online scheduling only had appointments weeks in advance, they never returned my calls or emails and their texts back to me were very delayed, thus, because I work I was never able to go back and get my refill before ALL of my lashes fell out! This place rules. I decided to go for the full keratin treatment so people would stop confusing me with Hermione granger. Firstly, it's a nice, clean place with a glamour meets rocker vibe. It's smaller, and more intimate which I like. I was nervous about the process, but Madison did such a wonderful job. She herself has gorgeous, LONG hair, which was awesome to finally see a stylist rocking. She explained what she was doing at all times, and was really friendly! She is clearly an expert. People have been commenting on my hair non-stop. At least 3 coworkers instantly asked me about it when I stepped back into the office afterwards. So happy I did it, worth the price!!! It took me awhile to decide whether or not to write this review because I am afraid I will have a hard time booking with Andrea for my future cuts. I normally got my hair cut in Cap Hill, but wanted a change and found Burnt District Salon and Spa via Groupon. There I met Andrea who gave me my first haircut. I have to say that Andrea takes the time to work with each customer and ensures that they are happy. This means that you may have to wait passed your appointment time. However, this doesn't bother me and is actually a reason why I come back for my second time. In fact, I was actually surprised when I saw Andrea for a second time today and she knew exactly how I like my hair cut because she took a note from my first appointment. Andrea does not only provide a high quality haircut, but she makes me feel pampered. All in all, I love Andrea's personality and she did an outstanding job cutting my hair. I am sure other hair stylists also do a good job, but for now I'm sticking with Andrea. I would highly recommend Burnt District Salon to any of my friends. p.s. I used to be a loyal customer at another hair place in downtown, where I used to go for the past 4 years. Then, my wife recommended Burnt Salon and spa. Now, there is no turning back. I always get my hair cut from Andrea Cordts, who is amazing. The things I like most about her are that she listens to me, she understand what I want, will give me suggestions regarding my hair and will always try and improve for the next visit. The women at Burnt District remind me of the Joey's girls over in South Lake Union. It is a group of gorgeous women who know how to host and provide an experience. Burnt District claims to have a speak easy experience, and they aren't kidding. I got offered a cocktail with my first (and every) haircut.
