This place has some good stylists. I have had some Fantastic haircuts from some of the senior stylists here and a great color job. I have been going to this salon for about 8 years now and have seen various stylists. The management however is poor. The last appointment I booked i went in the Salon and booked the day before but I couldn't get a 2 PM when i was available. I had told this to the admin and they booked an appointment for 1:45 and I said I will try to make it if not I will let them know. Unfortunately due to my commute I couldn't make it and had to cancel. The next time I called them they said they would need my credit card to just book an appointment. I said that is bizarre and have not heard of any hair salons do this before that too to someone who has been a customer and they said it is because of the last cancellation. I just don't think i am comfortable giving my credit card as a punishment for cancelling an appointment. they should have better cancellation policies. I had to decide not to go there anymore because I am not going to be threatened with a credit card on File which they can deduct money from whenever they can, if a customer is not available and they are requesting a service they should be able to reschedule with no penalty. I will find a business that can do this and may be support them. Thanks to all the stylists that made me look good. Too bad you are working for the wrong people. read more

Never written a review before but needed to talk about Cameron! She did my color yesterday and did a great job, but I realized when I got home that it was not exactly what I wanted-- just a different tone than I had expected (for a little more money than I expected, to be honest). But I called the next morning and was able to get an appointment just a few hours later to tweak it a bit. Cameron was so understanding and didn't make me feel guilty at all for asking for a change. She totally got where I was coming from and worked hard to understand exactly what I wanted. I am a college student so paying for an expensive hair treatment is tough, but this one was worth the splurge. Would recommend! read more

Hands down best salon I have been to! Tim did my hair and I could not have been happier, I have always been very picky about how my hair turned out and after leaving Tim I could not get over how amazing it looked. I have referred everyone I know to him. I was greeted when I walked in by a lovely lady who offered to take my jacket and get me a drink. I live in the Back Bay and have tried many Boston area salons. I'm very particular about my hair color and have been in search of the right stylist for a while. I've gone from brown to platinum blond to dark brown to medium blond (you get the point) and after jumping from one salon to another, ended up with a brassy mess. I did some research for balayage stylists in Boston and came across Ashley Mason at Salon Capri! All of her reviews were very positive, I even found a couple bloggers who raved about her technique. Setting out to form my own opinion, I made an appointment via their online system (so easy, love this tool!) and was in the salon that weekend. The salon is beautiful! Some salons on Newbury can be very stuffy but this salon is very inviting and everyone here was polite, attentive, and friendly. Within moments, Ashley sat me down and listened to my hair history, looked at my "hair inspiration pictures", and made very honest and professional recommendations on what needed to be done to fix my hair. In two very short appointments (did I mention that the salon has massage shampoo chairs?!) she transformed my over-processed brassy hair into the most beautiful balayaged head of hair, which looks exactly like the Olivia Palermo inspiration picture I showed her! The color is very natural yet still has a ton of dimensional highlights and best of all, she didn't compromise the condition of my hair, it still looks and feels very healthy with tons of shine. A week ago my sister and I visited Salon Capri to both get balayage highlights and haircuts. I saw Cathleen and told her that what I was looking for was strawberry blonde to brighten my natural hair color. What happened next wasn't quite what I expected. Let me start by mentioning that I'm one of those people who struggles to speak up, and in fact I was getting my hair cut to correct a previous issue from a different salon I never did speak up about at the time which left my hair uneven and frustrating to deal with. I have spent a long time accepting things I'm not happy with because I'm afraid of upsetting people or rocking the boat, as I get easily emotional in times of conflict. Cathleen did a fantastic cut, she evened out my hair and it felt great afterward. However the color wasn't what I wanted, and when I left the appointment it looked pretty much the same as when I walked in with only a couple of lightened sections unevenly distributed on my right side. After some urging from friends and family I decided to call up the salon to ask for it to be brightened more and the color evened out. Because I loved Cathleen's cut and wanted to make it clear I appreciated her work I asked to see her again. Today I had that second appointment, a week after the first, and from the beginning she was on the defensive with me. I assured her I liked the cut, I just wanted it brighter. Cathleen then undertook to belittle me, my desired color, and my choice to get it lighter than her self-proclaimed "beautiful job" which she'd done before. There were moments when I was sitting in the chair at the mercy of her bayalage brush, wielded with malice, reduced nearly to tears. She made comments to the other staff how she'd done my hair the week before but "she wants it brighter," in a mocking tone while making a face which I could clearly see and hear. She undertook to argue with me the semantics of what strawberry blonde entailed, telling me that what I was looking for was blonde and so she was going to "blonde [me] up!" I started to worry I was going to end up with platinum blonde out of spite. During the blow out she repeatedly burnt my scalp with the hair dryer and even now, about 10 hours later, it still hurts. She finished up my hair telling me "it's beautiful- well it WAS beautiful!" Luckily, I do love the color I got after my return visit, and it's not a spiteful platinum after all . However, the experience was so harrowing, so demeaning, and so upsetting that I won't go back, nor will I recommend her to anyone else I know. I saw Cameron for a haircut at the Newbury location, and she was AMAZING. If she wasn't so good at cutting hair, I'd say she needs her own talk show. She is just hilarious. And she really listened to what I wanted (even though I wasn't really sure), talked it out with me, adding in advice here and there, and gave me a GREAT cut. Everyone in the salon was very professional. It was clean, open, and I didn't feel rushed at all. Overall, a totally wonderful experience with Cameron and Salon Capri. read more

So, so much gratitude for Nick at Salon Capri! I had always heard of this salon, and finally made the best decision ever to see Nick after a seriously botched color job I got at a different salon. Nick totally fixed my hair and was so sweet and kind about it. I feel like I have an even better version of my hair back, all thanks to his artistry and expertise. Betty is great! I originally went to Salon Capri after getting a coupon in the mail as I needed a hair cut and hadn't found a steady stylist yet in Boston (been to a few places, but never loved the result). Betty was great - she really listened to what I wanted and gave advice where warranted but always made sure I was okay with what she was doing. I talked to her about color because I had never colored my hair but was considering highlights. She told me about ballyage, so I booked a follow-up color appointment with her. I was nervous since I'd never done anything to my hair, but she really reassured me that it would be natural-looking and subtle (which is what I asked for), and it looks AMAZING. I'm absolutely in love with it and will definitely be back! My cut still looks great, and my color looks so natural that one of my good friends didn't notice that it had been colored (simply wanted to brighten up my natural blonde locks), which is exactly what I said I wanted. The salon itself is clean, bright, and very comfortable. I will continue to go to Betty and will recommend this salon to all my friends! read more

I have gone to Salon Capris in Newton for years. I moved to Boston and am so Happy to be able to go to Salon Capris in Boston instead of having to drive out to Newton. It is beautifully designed, I had a wonderful capuccino and a fabulous wash and blow dry, great color. It is the only place I will go. Kudos to Gena, the salon owner. She has done a great job. I'm in love with this salon! I asked to work with Graziella after one of my friends reccommended her to me. She is amazing. She listened to what I wanted and really new how to work with my hair type. She colored my hair with a treatment I had never heard of, balayage. It worked so well with my hair type and grows out so nicely that I don't have to color it as often. If you go here, as to work with Graziella. She is also a doll to talk to and makes great conversaion while you're sitting in her chair. I went to Capri last saturday because I bought a coupon in Gilt City, the coupon was for Kerastase conditioning treatment, cut and blow dry. The salon is great, great location, the decor is nice bright and open. The best thing from this salon is the massage chair when they wash you hair is to die for!!! But I'm very disappointed because the conditioning treatment they advertised was only some drops in my hair when they where washing it and done! and I feel my hair the same as before those mysterious drops... Kate cut my hair and I told her just the ends and I think she took it to extreme because she almost didn't cut anything I saw and n the floor where only a few pieces of hair... and then she blowed my hair and let me tell you I could have done a better job than her... the hair felt frisky and the ends felt harsh not as if I just received a conditioning treatment and cut my hair. I was really looking forward to this salon and I was hoping this will be the salon I will keep coming back but I'm very disappointed with what I got ...
