I came into the salon for an appointment with Sally in March, she sits and asks me what I want, I show her a picture and stated that I want a dark base with low lights or somewhat of a subtle balayage and haircut. She then says "I can't do that", mind you my hair is below my waist and had some split ends like everyone else does. She says my hair is too damaged and doesn't have the time to even cut my hair or color it, although I had made an appointment months ago specifically for what I wanted and knew it would take at least a few hours! How does she say she has no time for color or cut? Ugh, My roots were grown out about 3 inches so I tell her to do what she can, being my first experience I was hopeful. She then says "I can only add highlights". She was so rude to me complaining about my hair, giving me attitude, and making smart comments, and when I mentioned a couple of people who knew her and had recommended her to me, she then completely changed her attitude and became fake! She puts bleach on my hair (in a rush), has her lovely assistant do most of the work, then looks at my hair and realizes she left it on for too long burning my hair but luckily my hair toughed it out and didn't fall out. As I listen in on Sally scolding her assistant about her mistakes of leaving me under the heat for too long, Sally added 2 treatments to my hair, I assume because Sally was not communicating well with me about anything that was going on or what she was doing. So after all, she "had time" to cut and blowdry my hair, style it and make it look "not so burned". I felt embarrassed, sucked it up and accepted that my roots were so obvious, and my hair looked bad, the next day it looked worse! my hair looked dirty no matter how many times I washed it. My roots were black and then I had other tones in it. I will never come back, maybe she didn't like me, I don't know but I kept my cool and was never rude or disrespectful. NOT WORTH $300+ dollars I spent, and also buying some products she swore I couldn't get anywhere else! I spent another $100+ on that! Not worth it and will never come back. Another 5 star review for the fabulous Sally. I found her IG account last year and was pretty impressed with all her pics! I came to her hoping that she would be able to fix the bad ombre I previously had. I didn't even have to show her any pics. I think I just said please do what you think will be nice because anything will look better than what I have right now. She ended up giving me balayage honey color and gave me a cut that made my locks look healthy and shiny again. She also taught me how to care for it and prevent it from turning orange which happens often to Asian hair. It's pretty recent that I've wanted to have my hair professionally colored, and so I've do a lot of research to make sure that I know what I want, and that the stylist I book with has experience creating the same results that I'm looking for - all at a fair price. My schedule pretty much only allows me to go to the salon only about twice a year, so I was really picky about my decision. I found Sally on Instagram, and lucky for me, she had a last minute opening for an appointment soon after I emailed her. I'm typically wary of businesses with too many positive reviews, but this is one of the rare cases where I agree that all the reviews were correct. Sally is extremely professional and puts a lot of effort into trying to understand what the customer wants. She takes the time to explain what she's going to do, and is very upfront about the final cost at the beginning of the appointment so that there are no surprises. She takes the initiative to make conversation without being overly intrusive, and she would periodically check up on me to see if I needed anything. I ended up with a cut and balayage (on top of a pre-existing balayage) and the results were amazing. It came out to the perfect ashy light brown/caramel tone I wanted, and my hair has so much more dimension now. It's the first time I can't stop staring at my hair! It all came out to a price point that might be a bit more expensive than most salons, but I thought was very fair because you definitely get what you pay for.
