Very rude and unprofessional salon. I waited 30 minutes simply to get pricing information. During that time, the stylist says she's busy go talk to assistant. the assistant doesn't know prices, she has to "look them up on her screen" and has to find her login password.. I wait then she.. gets a phone call, but she doesn't not put the phone caller on hold; instead, she prioritizes the call over an in-person guest who had already been waiting. At this point I'm just over it.. this salon has no basic service standards. So I write a short review. But the real issue is the salon manager, Cathy. See screenshot Rather than acknowledging the experience or taking responsibility, her response to my review was defensive, dismissive, and borderline hostile. She reframes the situation and even added a passive-aggressive comment along the lines of "too bad we can't review you." Wow! That last remark says everything about the culture here. Customer feedback should be met with accountability. A manager who responds vengefully instead of constructively tells you everything you need in how guests are valued. I visited this salon for a deva cut and then highlights and a treatment. Even though I paid over $500 for both services combined (which is the most I have EVER paid for my hair), I was happy with the cut and with the color. The stylist was very knowledgeable about curly hair which I attribute to the cost of their service. I don't think I'd return for color again but will definitely return for the deva cuts. It could be helpful to give customers a rough estimate of the booked service so we get the chance to financially plan instead of being told the price once we're in the chair- at that point, I feel most customers could feel obligated to comply. read more

My daughter has been getting her curly hair cut by Bri at this salon for a year or so and recommended that I give her a try. For reference, my hair is 3C, fine strands, curly/waving/coily and about 60% gray. I had some damage due to unsuitable product use, so I went in for a severe cut. I brought images of what I hoped was possible and Bri made it happen!! She was able to remove most of the damaged hair and capture the shape I was looking for. I felt very comfortable in her hands because she is very observant, professional, listens well and demonstrated her understanding of what I was asking for. I visited Tangles Salon about two weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I was a bit nervous because I was looking for a change, and since I have type 2C curly hair, I know not everyone really knows how to cut and style curls. Sarah took care of me, and she was absolutely amazing--super sweet, professional, and she truly exceeded my expectations. I highly, highly recommend her! My family loved my new look, and I left the salon feeling so confident. My hair looks much healthier, fuller of life, and I'm just thrilled with the results. They also gave me a 10% discount for my next visit and a 25% discount card for the Devacurl products they use. I booked a blowout at this salon while being mindful of my budget and saw on the website that for the stylist I picked her blowout started at $55. I just wanted a simple, smooth blowout and expected to stay in the $60 range. Unfortunately, the blowout itself didn't turn out well at all. I have very loose curls, and as soon as she started drying my hair, I could tell it wasn't going to be smooth. My roots were frizzy, and the overall result looked messy and unfinished. She also stepped away during my appointment to cut another client's hair, which added about 10 minutes. That felt pretty unprofessional, but I let it go. At the end, she quickly went over a few sections with a flat iron -- not to style or curl, but simply to fix the frizz because the blowout didn't come out right. She only used it for about five minutes. Needless to say I was surprised when I went to check out and was charged $95. I had seen that blowouts with hot tools are listed as $75-$95 on the website, but I assumed I wouldn't be charged at the top of that range since the hot tool was used so minimally -- and only to correct the insane blowout I was left with. If I had known it would cost me nearly $100, I would've booked with a more experienced stylist that would've left me with a good result. I understand pricing tiers, but this felt more like damage control than an upgraded service, and there was no clear communication about the final price until checkout. Overall, the experience didn't match the cost, and I left feeling very disappointed. Will not be coming back read more

My nautral curl pattern is 3c (but it's a bit wavy/loose curls on top of my head). I went in for a relaxing perm that would have a soft beach wave rather than be stick straight. Instead of using large barrel curlers (like 4+inches) they used 1.5 inch curlers. My hair is EXACTLY as curly as it was when I went in. I paid $225 for a perm to make my hair the same amount of curly. I'm biracial. I don't recommend to anyone with balck or textured hair. read more

I recently had the best haircut at Tangles Salon. I typically don't go to salons and just trim my hair myself but I felt that my hair needed some professional TLC. I've never left a haircut truly loving what was done until visiting Tangles. I received a dry cut, a wash and condition, and then a final cut after my hair was diffused and completely dry. This Salon never takes accountability for their mistakes. It is the worst business practice. I had a terrible cut there with an inexperienced professional that didn't have enough time under their belt to know what to do. The owner is always responsible. The owner is always, always, always responsible for training, teaching, and overseeing every cut. It's basic leadership skills! When owners know how to execute at the highest level for everyone in the salon, they make sure their staff knows how to handle situations, and that if they're too young to handle the situation, they know they can go to the owner who should be in the salon every day. I just came here for an updo and I cannot be happier! I used to go to West LA to get it done, but with the increase in gas prices, I looked for someone closer to home. I usually come here to get my updo for holiday parties now. I came here twice this holiday season, and Jessica Segobia was my stylist. My hair lasted the entire weekend for two holiday parties with extra hairspray and bobby pins. The updo pricing here is very competitive compared to other places. I came in with a bad haircut that I had grown out so I was ready to get it evened out. My hairstylist was Bri & she did a wet cut on me, which initially turned out well. However, after she dried and styled my hair she took a front strand on one side and snipped off an additional 1-1.5 inches. I was shocked but i trusted that she knew what she was doing. Once I got home and realized how bad it was, I was pretty bummed out because I ended up back at square one with an uneven haircut in the front... so I got it cut shorter for nothing. The haircut was also about $100. Definitely not worth it. I was going to call to get it fixed but that would probably mean getting the other side/layers shorter, so I'm going to have to grow this cut out (again). Edit: in response to the salon's reply, I don't think she is "taking the punch" because I admit that initially the haircut turned out well in my initial comment (she actually fully fixed the "bad side I came in with). The good: Cathy was fantastic she scheduled my appointment and even emailed me the night before to squeeze me in with the life just lifting so that was five stars. The staff including my stylist were friendly, wore masks and were professional. Measures to keep distance and wear masks were present. The not so great: My end result makes me really sad when I look at my hair and I have actually cried over it. I came in for one thing and feel I didn't get that and that the price was just not worth it. Details: My appointment was with hector and I thought i scheduled a regular hair cut and highlights and when I asked for a blowout he told me no and proceeded with a dry cut and constantly pulled my hair. I kept hearing a ripping noise and it hurt when washing my hair. I did in his defense have a thick product in my hair from the day before but I thought that he would wash my hair first before cutting and even asked about it for which he just said no. The toner did not match the sample he showed me that we chose together it's more of a brassy tone whereas I thought we were going with a light brown. I was given a dry cut even when told I wanted my hair washed first and just wanted a regular cut. I also told him I wanted to keep my length as much as possible and he told me I had to cut some inches to even my hair and when the cut was done he asked if I had wanted to grow it out and he was just like oh and kind of seemed a bit worried. I told him I could wait a year but my hair grows so slow I'm not sure if a year will give me back the same length. I ended up paying a little over 370 including a couple hair products he recommended but I feel for that price it was not worth it. I also didn't even get a receipt or breakdown for what I paid which is weird to me as well. Because it was my first time they gave me a coupon for 20% off products bought which was nice i'm just not sure how much the products were in the end because they just charged me a total price. I'm most upset that I came in wanting something specific and feel that it was not delivered even when asking throughout the process. I also did not appreciate the pulling of my hair. The haircut looks nice in photos according to my friends it's just not something I like. I hope that my next stylist will be a better fit.
