Heyo! I just wanted to leave a review saying how wonderful my hair turned out after going to Ume Salon. It was my first time getting a haircut by myself, and this short! It was a great experience since the guy who was cutting my hair explained every detail of what he was doing and why to achieve the vision I had in mind. He was incredibly detailed and knowledgeable, even honestly explaining why some of my previous haircuts turned out differently based on my hair type. He recommended that I get a relaxer treatment because my curly roots would cause my hair to poof out once it was cut short, making it look lopsided or uneven. I ended up getting a short boy-style haircut along with a relaxer treatment, and I absolutely love the results. Even my hairstylist aunts complimented the technique and skill behind the cut, which says a lot! I've received so many compliments on my new hairstyle, and I have this salon to thank for that. The treatment is holding up nicely even after a week of heat and sweat, especially at Disney. They're so patient and explain how much and why they have to do things a certain depending of your hair and vision. Trust their guidance and they will deliver your vision! I paid around $260 for the haircut and treatment (before tip), which is definitely on the pricier side. However, considering the level of skill, attention to detail, personalized recommendations, and the results I got, I genuinely think it was worth every penny. I don't have a regular hair salon that I go to since I almost never cut my hair, but I needed to get rid of some split ends so I stumbled upon Ume on Yelp. Walked in with no idea what I wanted besides wanting to cut off ~4 inches and was immediately helped by Wing, who washed my hair and helped me decide on length and layers. Wing was very nice and conversational (in English, Cantonese, AND Mandarin!) and we ended up cutting off about 5-6 inches -- and I feel great about it! Would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a haircut! He also gave me some tips to prevent further breakage in the future. Shout out to Jack, who was the hair stylist for my husband! We made an appointment on the day of and they saw us right away. The interior was well-lit and clean. Jack was explaining to us his recommendations before the haircut and we are very pleased with how it turned out. Initially, my husband thought he wanted his hair to be much shorter but when Jack shared that it would be better to keep more hair to style the back of his head, we trusted him and we are so glad we did! The price is reasonable for the male haircut and I would come back to try their other services! Sissy cut my hair. She took her time, focused a lot in getting the medium fade just right. Did clean small snips to trim the top and front of my hair. I go for a come-over to the side look. She did it cleanly, gave me a good line too. The cut comes with the hair wash at the end and they'll gell up your hair a bit afterwards to get the style you want. All for just $35. I really like my haircut. It's probably the best one yet. The people at Ume Salon are so welcoming. It's such a different vibe compared to those other Asian beauty salons. It felt very familiar and had such a family vibe to it. I don't know how to explain it but it was a really nice experience. I went in not knowing what type of hairstyle would look good on me. Wing was very attentive and automatically knew what hairstyle would look best. He showed me a couple of pictures and explained why it would look good according to my face shape, hair type, etc. I just trusted him and I ended up with probably the best haircut of my life. I came in looking for short cut and perm that usually is close to a boys cuts. I've been swindled by many salons and haircut establishments on the pricing of the cut and perm just because I'm female presenting. Reasonable pricing at $160 for short styled perm. Wing is very considerate and asks you which cut you're looking for. Definitely keep the photos of what you like on hand or have an idea. I went with what he recommended. Great experience, coming here for a last minute appointment. They accommodated and waited for me to get there by 6pm because I was driving from work which was nearly an hour away. Wing cut my hair and provided me with a consultation before cutting my hair. I share with him that I needed to be able to tie it up for work and that I didn't like the short bangs. He checked in with me when he cut the baseline layer to make sure the length was ok with me. I've Pinned and saved so many haircuts that were medium LOBs and how would I have known that it wasn't quite suited for me and my face shape. I got my first straight perm here in the Staes and it was such an amazing experience. I typically only do my hair in Asia, but I thought I'd try out Ume Salon based on their great reviews and their fast response to my yelp request. My stylist Angela took great care of my hair, making sure it was washed and dried thoroughly, cut nicely, and that the treatment was applied properly. She checked in on me frequently, and overall just made sure I was doing okay in the chair - especially since the perm takes about 2-3 hours. She always was very knowledgeable about hair and was overall very friendly. The salon has such a clean and nice ambiance, so I am definitely going to be back for another round of treatment and hair cut in the future! My #ThankfulThursday goes to Angela at Ume Salon! I have been so busy moving homes this past year and kept pushing off my haircut. I know it's usually hard to schedule a haircut last minute and I stumbled upon Ume Salon that was several minutes away from me and decided to give them a call on Thanksgiving day when I was able to have a free morning. Angela picked up and scheduled me to come in within the hour. She washed my hair really well and cut and styled it in an hour. I would've hope that she would've used some hair oil or cream for my newly cut hair. For my long hair, she charged $70 which was very reasonable. It was a trim and just what my hair needed to get ready for the holidays. She told me that they just opened about 6 months ago. The salon has seats for about 6 stations and there was someone else getting a perm sitting in back of me. The hair washing was in the back of the salon and I didn't have a chance to look at the type of shampoo and conditioner. Got a haircut for me and my wife today with Wing and Angela, it was probably the quickest but most accurate cut from what we were looking for. They were both very friendly, and unlike some other hair stylists who simply asks you what you want and call it a day, they made sure and asked back clarifying questions with details to make sure that things are exactly as we are looking for. The salon was nice and clean as well, didn't feel any sense of dirtiness with anything, and it was just a nice place to be at. More than that, they also recommended me to get products that would help me with my scalp issue, and not upselling me but suggesting me to look up the product and doing my research, which I really appreciated.
