Finding the salon was easy and there was parking right out front, which made it even better. I stay in South Pasadena on weekends at my boyfriend's house, so I decided to give it a try. EJ was incredibly kind and welcoming. I arrived a few minutes early while he was finishing with another client, and he saw me right at my appointment time. He also offered drinks and snacks, which I really appreciated because I definitely needed the caffeine boost that day. He washed my hair and gave me the trim I desperately needed, removing all my split ends while still keeping my hair long just like I asked. I'm always nervous about losing too much length, but he really listened and delivered exactly what I wanted. His station was also very cute and calming, with plants around the mirror and a dream catcher. I deal with anxiety, so I really appreciated his relaxing energy during the appointment. I usually get my trims done in Beverly Hills with my longtime stylist, and I was pleasantly surprised that the price here was about the same -- $120, which is pretty standard for a good trim in Beverly Hills as well. Since I happened to be in the area, I thought "why not?" and I'm really glad I did because it turned out to be such a pleasant experience.

Vanilla assured me the first time I visited that it was not just a promotion for the grand opening and four months later, it's still true! The space is great and really well-lit. They have areas for manicures, pedicures, and I think even permanent jewelry. It's like a one-stop shop for self-care. I came in for a haircut and was offered a drink right away. Vanilla was awesome. I had an idea of what I wanted, and he was able to take that and give me a more elevated version of it. He definitely understood the assignment! I already got a lot of positive compliments on the new haircut. During the haircut, Vanilla took me over to the high-tech massage chairs. It was so nice laying there while getting my head massaged and shampooed; I think I actually fell asleep. I left feeling relaxed and recharged.
