And I don't mean crafted to the standard of a US Navy Sub either. Nor a Subway Sub, which honestly aren't much worse. Now this is probably the worst Salata location we've ever been to. The service wasn't good, but wasn't the worst part. All of the veggies were pretty much bad, as in rotten, browning, congealed, inedible. Just from the ugly visuals, we had to cut out about half the things that we wanted that we usually get at other locations, because they looked so wilted and rotten. And still... Whatever we were left with tasted so rotten that we didn't even eat half of it. It was also a small portion but the congealed nature was the main problem. Yet we're still paying nearly $10 per salad for this. Easily a 1-star experience, and whereas most Salatas are anywhere from a 3 to a 5, this is one which I would avoid like the plague. But I love this company as a whole and I love the woman that responds so kindly to reviews, good, and bad, and I don't have the heart to give less than 3. I was between a small and a regular salad. Ended up going with the regular. I asked for romaine and arugula, and they gave me... A LOT. Now, I am wishing I got the small. When it came to the dressing, they were skimping and I had to ask for extra because they gave me so much romaine and arugula. Then charged me for it. I am annoyed. I am very angry at the server who prepared our salad. She was short, round, black haired and was working there around 5pm today when we were there. She looked like she was in charge at the time we were there. She was very rude to my wife. My wife was trying to point out what she wanted in her salad and when the girl rudely told her to keep her hands behind the glass, with a very condescending tone. We did not point inside the glass, just at the top of the glass. She did not just say this one time, she said it many times to embarass in front of other customers. Pointing at the items we want from the top of the glass does not get anywhere near the food for her to have that kind of a rude reaction. If this is the way your servers treat customers, I'd rather make my own salad at home rather than spend $20 on a salad and be treated that way. This does not make me want to come back to Salata, because it gives me a bad experience that I don't want to repeat. I've been in the retail industry and know that this is not the way to treat customers and get customers to come back. You will lose business if she keeps that up. As a server you should be nice and happy and cheerful to make customers happy and get them to come back again and again. With that attitude you will definitely lose customers. Albeit lunchtime, the place was not crowded. Service - The employees were friendly enough but completely scattered and unorganized. I asked for my salad to go and they still put it in a dine-in bowl. Handfuls of toppings were literally thrown on top. Once mixed, it was put into a to go container after my 3rd reminder. Taste - Meh. Just nothing special. Me and coworkers order salads for lunch today and my salad was taste horrible and looks like it was made for a 5 year old child. I hate to leave a negative review because the food was actually pretty decent...but I was a bit angry by the service. Going in, they didn't really explain how it works or anything. The first lady was semi polite and asked me what she could do for me, but from that point on, it went downhill. They kept leaving my food at corners of their counters without a word and walk off. At some point, they didn't know which bowl was mine and looked at me with annoyance for not telling them what to put in someone else's bowl... The cashier tried to overcharge me for what I didn't order and then tried to fix it with a calculator. My total would have been 13.08 afterwards, but he didn't fix anything on the computer. I'm such a huge fan of Salata !! Whenever I wanna have a delicious healthy lunch, it never disappoints. This was my first time at this location and service was great. I've been to multiple locations and this one really doesn't skimp out on the toppings. Some Salatas give you a tiny sprinkle of toppings which can be annoying, but that won't happen here. There's sooo many toppings to choose from. From different veggies, beans, cheeses, fruits, seeds, dressings, and protein. I always get the balsamic herb vinaigrette dressing. LOVE IT. I really wish I could buy a bottle of it for when I make salads at home. It's my favorite salad dressing, from Salata and just in general. This dressing is one of the main reasons why I keep coming back since I haven't found anything like it ! I usually get the spicy chipotle chicken or pesto chicken as my protein. Both are great. Also, always add the croutons. They're super good. The tomato soup is super creamy. If you're looking for something to add to your meal, I would definitely try it out. read more

I was at the mall the other day when I got really hungry. I had heard about this chain, so I decided to check it out. This is a great alternative to all the fast food in the food court. I got a regular size veggie salad. Their website says they have over 50 toppings to choose from, but it didn't seem like this location had that many at the time. They did have a lot of nice vegetables to choose from, but I think I only got around 10 toppings. I didn't get the avocado, which is $1 extra. I love avocado, but I can buy a small one at the grocery store for less than $1. I also got the balsamic vinaigrette on the side. The salad was good. The dressing tasted nice. They seem to give small amounts of each topping, but I didn't try asking for extra. The staff seemed polite. What's nice about this place is that they have their own seating area. I liked being away from all the hustle and bustle of the fast food outlets and tables out in the open. It was pretty quiet inside the restaurant, but they were playing some weird music that I didn't care for. They have a TV, and it was muted at the time, showing some game. So up until today, I've been getting mediocre and bad service at this location. Once in a while I get great service. However, I am really patient so I never complain and just move on with my life. Today, however, I had the worst experience here. Omar, a staff there, was being extremely rude. When I came in, there was not many customers at all. No customers behind me either, so there is no excuse for rushing me. I was ordering my moms salad, which is isn't sure what some of the veggies were. So I had to ask her first what she wanted before I told him. And when she said she wanted everything in that section except for onions, he rolled his eyes and started throwing stuff in. We moved to the next section which had eggs and cheese, he remarked "she wants everything but the jalapeños?" With a smirk. Then proceed to ask me "did she just come to America? I am on a health kick right now so I eat mainly Salads . I usually go to the River Oaks location near the marshals and they are absolutely great. Everything there is fresh and the service is nice they give you a healthy serving of everything you want on your salad so I decided to try to Memorial city location First of all In the Memorial location are very stingy with their serving portions the Lettuce and Kale did not look too fresh to me not did some of the other vegetables. It just was not as appealing as the other location. When I ask for some artichokes this server told me he's gonna give me two pieces of artichoke hearts two dollars if I wanted more it will be an additional two dollars are you kidding me? They never used to count the artichokes on my salad it was a disappointing experience Also the salad dressing did not taste as good . The first time I tried Salata (another location, of course), I wasn't that crazy about it. Yes, they have lots of amazing toppings, but I was so overwhelmed by everything that I felt my salad was just a bunch of mis-matched toppings. Plus, I thought they were a little stingy with some of the veggies I requested. My opinion has definitely changed. I was on a three-hour shopping spree last week and realized mid-way through the mall that I hadn't had anything to eat since before spin class 12 hours earlier! I was starving - but didn't want to give in to all the junk that is housed in the food court. I knew Salata had to the best choice to stick to my diet and also give me something filling. I carefully selected my toppings this time and added the grilled chicken as my protein. Even though I was starving, I choose the small salad because it's still pretty damn big. The line girl was generous with my selections and even put my dressing in a container on the side so if I didn't finish everything, I could take the leftovers home - without having soggy lettuce! Well, the small side was the perfect serving for my hunger - lots of crisp veggies, tender grilled chicken and fresh housemade sundried tomato fat-free vinaigrette dressing. Yumm!! I also discovered their fresh-brewed teas and lemonades. I especially enjoyed the lemonade with green tea. Not too sweet, but just right! I didn't have room for dessert, but I will keep in mind this place for quick snacks as well since they also have a greek yogurt bar. I had the pleasure of sampling their yogurt at an event at my spin studio earlier this month and it was really delicious. I love greek yogurt - but only the THICK, REAL stuff - and that was exactly what they were serving. They offer lots of fruit choices for toppings, as well as honey! Not sure of the pricing, but I'm sure it's reasonable. I personally don't mind paying more to eat here vs. grabbing processed frozen crap at any of the other food selections located in the food court. read more

DANG there was a stark difference. The staff here is never enthusiastic/always seems bored, they give such tiny portion sizes, and always rush even though I'm never there when they're busy. Portion size is what annoys me the most though. If I'm paying $11 for a salad, hook me up darn it!!!!! Like others have mentioned, this started off being a great lunch spot (4.5 stars) and has dwindled from there to "A-ok" (3 stars). I adored this place for lunch when it first opened. It also helped that we got a few coupons in our office, especially considering that multiple people from my floor would eat there every day. A "Buy 8, get 1 free" card would really benefit a place like this next to office buildings. I wish they had a set number of how many instances/portions of toppings you could get. I don't like many toppings, but I like a lot of those toppings. If the person in front of me is getting 15 toppings, you better believe that I expect extra black beans when I only get 4 toppings. I was told no on this several times and they would look at me like they were appalled that I would bring it up and explain the logic. If they're so concerned about giving small portions for toppings, maybe they could use a smaller bowl for the toppings portion and once it's full, that's it. Then lettuce is selected at the end. I have heard that other locations are not this stingy. They occasionally hand out greek yogurt samples with a berry and honey as you enter the line.
