The place was so cute! I saw a lot of cars parked and got curious to see why there were so many people. I walked around to see what they offered. They have such a great selection of frozen foods and fresh breads. You can also dine in if preferred. I was not greeted at all and was never asked if I needed any assistance by the staff so I just walked around on my own. I bought 3 items, I just did my grocery shopping this is the only reason why I didn't pick up more things. I will definitely be back. I picked up a carrot cake and it's the best carrot cake I've ever had. I will definitely come back for more. They have a great selection of sourdough bread and they even have the Carrabbas's loaf of bread! Will definitely go back for one of those. We love Tres Marlet now called Artisan & vine. However- don't go at 5:50 pm and ask for a coffee. They close at 7pm. But I was told that it is their policy to shut down more than an hour before closing. Policy. It's ridiculous to stay open if you're not going to serve products. It's a lazy policy too. I mean, it's ok? Small and cute with an assortment of take-away and reheat options, but the pricing is insane. I bought a lunch salad, a very small container of pasta salad, and 8 oz of Caesar dressing and it was $30+. I'd like to echo the concerns others have raised about expiration dates. Fine if THEY have a system, but I need to know how long this dressing lasts and when it was made .... It was an interesting stop. Doubt I'll return. Edit to add - the dressing I bought was to keep at home. The servings in each doesn't tell me how long it will last. Also, there's not even a "made on" date so I can calculate how long it has been in my fridge. If you're going to sell perishables, you really need to provide this info to customers. read more

I have a new spot! So, this used to be a convenient store years ago. They did a phenomenal job remodeling this space! I finally tried TM and they most definitely live up to their hype! I stopped in for lunch and a little browsing. I was greeted warmly. I ended up staying to eat my lunch there and picked up a meal to bake at home since I can't cook during the World Series (GO ASTROS!). The store front itself is lovely with a small bench right outside the large windows. It looks like a French country store (hence the name). Parking is super convenient. My car was literally 5 steps from the entrance. The store is beautifully decorated inside. They have 3 tables with 4 pretty rattan high back cushioned chairs at each and 3 additional tables with wood chairs that seat 2 per section along the windows for dining, Simon & Garfunkel (plus other 70's folk/easy listening music) playing on the speakers and a nice relaxing energy to enjoy some down time. I chose the chicken salad lunchbox. They have 2 to select from: cranberry walnut bread and Parker House rolls. I chose the Parker House rolls. I don't like a lot of stuff in my bread, so I went for the plainer option. The lunchbox comes with 3 chicken salad sandwich rolls, chips, a fruit cup and a sweet treat. The drink is separate. Everything was delicious! I love the chicken salad on Parker House rolls. They add celery and just the right about of mayonnaise. The flavor is very good. The chips were Miss Vickie's, which is always a winner. The fruit was fresh and the sweet treat was oh so yummy! For my dinner later, I took home a frozen classic spaghetti and meatball meal. With easy prep and instructions on the container, I popped it in the oven, watched the game and enjoyed my delightful Italian meal 45 minutes later (thaw before heating). The meatballs were sauced well and so good. It was like homemade heaven. The small is enough for 3-4 people or to have for leftovers. Not bad for $12.50. The store has so many meal options. Casseroles, vegetarian meals, dips, pickles, olives, pies, quail eggs, cookies, jellies, muffins, salads, dressings, croutons, sandwiches, soups, bread, olives, wine (yes, that IS a meal option, especially when paired with bread and olives), even small tubs of Blue Bell ice cream... you name, they got it! The middle of the store and the outer walls are all lined with freezer/refrigerated sections to house all of their homemade yummies. It's quite elaborate. It is truly a wonderful place and I am so happy it's convenient to my home and work! You will pay a little more than regular places, but the taste, quality and convenience is well worth it. It's honestly a good deal when you weight the benefits and satisfaction. I was so impressed with Tres Market, I have decided to go back for lunch today to try more items. I am positive this will become a favorite spot of mine. Cooler weather is near and the comfort food TM has will be received well. You could eat there for a month and probably never repeat an item. We went because I wanted a turkey sandwich. They don't have those on Sundays, the day we went. Instead, we bought couple of fresh Italian dishes for dinner. The lasagna was great! I wouldn't buy the eggplant again. It wasn't bad, I prefer mine without any breading. Note to self, if there's something fresh you want off the menu, call ahead to see if it's there. When a business opens at 9am on a Saturday, it is expected that the pastry case should be chock-full of scones, croissants, cookies. Nope, I walked in & the case was bare. I asked for a ham & cheese croissant & was told they hadn't made any yet. I saw plenty of people in the kitchen when I pulled up so it's kinda disappointing that they hadn't started on the breakfast stuff. I mentioned this to the counter staff & was told that they are understaffed. I looked around & they had 3 employees out front & at least 3-4 people in the kitchen. One of the front staff was busy filling up the take away meals. Why wasn't he working on the pastry case? Why? So I ordered breakfast tacos for H in lieu of the ham & cheese croissant. I am FURIOUS! In general, I love these people. In general, their prepared foods far exceed what can be found even at Central Market, but... They have specific, relative definitions of food that might disappoint and anger anyone understanding English language descriptions of food. A pie is different from a cobbler or a crumble in many ways, the first being A PIE HAS TWO CRUSTS. A dish called a pot pie will be expected to have two crusts, even if those crusts are made of differing materials. A "pot pie" that is fashioned from only a soupy casserole, and a bit of puff pastry is neither a pie, nor a pot pie. I AM FURIOUS. I have tasted not one bite, and now I am struggling to not throw it in the bin, fully uneaten. Because I was neither born in texas, nor did I grow up here, I care about the planet and the resources/other living things here, so I will eat this circle of soupy deliciousness with soggy formerly crunchy pastry on top only. Texans have bad taste, and extremely low standards. More proof. The evidence is everywhere... My blood has been here for 176 years. I actually know what I am talking about. Do they? I used to believe so. A while later: while the food is superficially tasty, it reeks of green bell peppers. it is not a pot pie. I have had to divide the crust, and use a ladle to evenly divide the soup. Again: delicious, but NOT A POT PIE. I do not even know what this would be called, in a functioning restaurant. These amazing women are caterers, so their world is different. Daily, they create and name dishes...and they do a great job! In houston, these women are known! And they should be. Their menus are delicious, and comforting, if inadvertently poorly described/named? I don't know how to tell the truth, without potentially hurting them, and I do not want to hurt them. I LOVE THEIR FOOD! I thoroughly enjoy their employees, and the wonderfully neutral atmosphere in their retail locations. They deserve all of the business houston and surrounding areas have to demand from them. This is a terrible chicken pot pie. Sorry. As I have said: I L‍‍‍‍VE Tres Market! I have known about Tres Market for years and know by word of mouth that the food is really good. When my mom passed away in May, my company brought me several things, chicken salad (probably my least favorite thing out of everything.. not sure why.. it just seemed a little sweet but chicken salad is made differently by every one so this isn't surprising), Egg salad (so good!) the Grill Room Salad (Can't wait to get this again) Lasagna delicious, lemon pound cake, delish and finally Chicken Pot Pie which I am thawing and cooking tonight. I finally actually went there to buy a salad and ended up getting the Green Chicken Salad and it was also good. So far, no complaints. I'll probably go there tomorrow to pick up another salad for lunch. The food is fresh and delicious. read more

. My neighbor highly recommended Tres Market Foods if ever I did not have time to cook, their dishes are wonderful. I visited the Memorial location , Thursday, May 9, 2024, for the first time. I decided to purchase their premade foods for my husband's birthday dinner on May 10, 2024. The store is very nice. I entered and went to the counter immediately and said, "Hi this is my first time here, is there a menu to see what foods are here?" The dark haired young woman, looked at me with a blank stare. She did not greet me. She answered as though I was bothering her, "you can use your phone and scan the QR code for the menu". Before I arrived, I went to the website and had an idea of what I wanted. So I started to walk around checking on the available dishes in the refrigerators. As I am walking, the dark haired young woman is following me. when I turned around to look at her, she quickly scattered behind the counter. Mind you, I was the only Afro-American customer shopping at this location, several other persons of other ethnic groups were in and out. Because I felt uncomfortable and this was 4:45 pm and I had to get to 6:00 meeting, I purchased $91.00 of dishes for the dinner party. The only reason I made the purchase was time was of the essence. If you have employees who are not experienced to work with the public, maybe they should be behind the scenes and in a position where they are not the face of your business. I was honestly hoping the food would make up for the horrendous customer service and heinous attitudes of the two female owners... but then I found mold on a couple chicken pot pies I bought. I looked on the package for an expiration date and couldn't find one... in fact I couldn't find an expiration date on anything I purchased. Makes you wonder how long that food really sits there. In fact, I've come in some weeks two days in a row to see their "fresh" section with food they claim to make fresh every day and see the same dishes in the same spots. Never even thought anything of it until now. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing unusual about keeping food two days in a row, of course people do it at their houses and at grocery stores. I'm just appalled by how confidently they lie to customers saying the food is made fresh that day if it is in that section when it's very clearly not. It really makes you wonder how long the frozen section items actually stay there for. If they don't put expiration dates on their food then how will THEY even know when it should be thrown out? Someone call a health inspector! Very very gross! It's a shame they take advantage of so many loyal customers and don't even attempt to make up for it with their horrible attitudes, as if everyone they speak to is wasting their time. I frequent both the Memorial location and the River Oaks location. Breakfast tacos are terrific. The frozen foods they make and refrigerated foods taste great. On the other hand, I have stopped in now 4 times this year at the Memorial location and the coffee bar and pastries section are closed an hour before they actually post their closing time. Looks like employees just want to get out of there so please be aware when their door sign says they close at 6 (like today) they actually closed for coffee and pastries at 5. Probably just inexperienced management or lazy employees just wanting to leave at 6 (clock punchers). A shop that excels at so many things should provide better service all the way through to closing or post a sign that the coffee and pastry service closes at 5. The ambiance is really good at both locations I frequent. read more

First of all this place is super cute, quaint and convenient and they have a very large selection. We love their meatballs, dips, chicken enchiladas and they do have fabulous cookies. However, I was so sad when I called to find out if their chicken enchiladas contained MSG. I was told yes!!! Well then I inquired about their meta pass and YES THE MEATBALLS CONTAIN MSG! Then when I asked about this DIO WE KOVE, guess what it has MSG ALSO. Then I asked WHAT DOES NOT HAVE MSG , the last on the phone said, and she checked with someone in the back that ALMOST ALL OF THEIR PRODUCTS CONTAIN MSG. I was terribly saddened. In today's world we are informed buyers. We want the best for our families. I would gladly pick up 2-3 items a week here. But now it may be 2-3 times a year. I would like to encourage Tres Market to change their SPICES BLEND and use something that does not contain MSG. WHICH DINNER ITEMS DO NOT HAVE MSG? Owners, can you please reply. I used Tres Market for the first time for a few side items this Christmas. I had not been feeling well so I needed the help. I called the store and asked about a broccoli cheese casserole. The woman sounded very frustrated on the phone because I asked if it had rice in it. Then she said "well now you say rice, which one?!" I was unaware there was more than one option. I got the pricing and info and placed my order. Later that day I arrived to pick it up but had a question about the possibility of catering an event I had coming up. I asked if someone could get my a catering menu and it was like I had asked from their left arm. A woman, don't know her name, huffed and walked offed as if I were really bothering her by wanting to offer more business. I even asked her "I'm sorry, is this an inconvenience. You seem like I am bothering you". Her response was "it's been a really busy day since we opened". Well, I did not know that was a bad thing for business. I also would think a catering place, in Memorial, would be aware that it's a busy time and be ready for it. She did not offer much of an apology. I guess being busy was a fair excuse to her. She got the menu and went over the pricing. At that point I was not willing to pay their cost for a tray at that level of treatment. I will gladly pay above average cost for good service. They lost an opportunity to cater an event for 20 people. I did leave with the broccoli cheese and "RICE" casserole, red wine beef tips and a Mississippi Mud Pie that night. The food was amazing and fresh. It was convenient and people complimented on it. I am a little apprehensive to return and I don't find a customer forward approach. I am in the service industry and have been for 17 years. Having a "busy" day should never be an excuse to treat my customers with anything but kindness and a willingness to give them good service and business. We have picked up heat-at-home entrees over the years, but less and less. I think for the last time. The entrees are bland and use mediocre quality ingredients. They are cooked with no finesse whatsoever. Tonight we tried the Chicken Divan and it was, in a word, wretched. In two words, wretched and inedible. It barely resembled food and was the consistency of chicken salad with extremely finely shredded chicken - very very finely shredded as you might for chicken salad. No discernable broccoli, though it smelled very strongly of broccoli, and a TON of sour cream. What it was most like was canned cat food. We tried to eat it but threw it away. read more

Tres Market: An Operatic Review in One Act by Dolph W. PRELUDE The house lights dim, rich orchestral strains (a la Wagner) are heard as the word "nepotism" is projected onto the closed curtain. Why nepotism? Because my teenage daughter works at Tres Market as a food preparer. It's only fair that those reading this review know this, even though I would have given the place high marks without the familial connection. Because the prelude isn't particularly short, I'll take this opportunity to expound upon the fascinating etymology of the word nepotism. It's origin can be traced to the Latin word "nepotem" which means "nephew" and referred to the privileges granted to a Pope's "nephew" (a euphemism for his natural son). But the audience is growing restless thinking about randy Popes... OVERTURE The spotlight blazes off the bald head of the conductor as the first chords of a lively overture (a la Rossini) are played. The curtain is raised showing Tres Market's storefront on the corner of Memorial and Boheme. It's located on the edge of a little subdivision straddling Hwy 8 that is known for its Operatic street names. Included among them are Tosca, Traviata, Hansel, Gretel, Figaro as well as Boheme. Puccini would roll over in his grave if he heard how the locals pronounce it: bo-HEEM. What do you expect in Houston, though? This is the town where the locals in the Galleria area pronounce San Felipe "San FILL-a-pee"! At this point, the music critic is about to pronounce this Operatic review DOA... THE ACTUAL REVIEW Enter, stage right, Dolph's pretty daughter singing an aria (a la Mozart) about the generosity of the three ladies who began Tres Market (hence the "tres") as a catering establishment featuring pre-prepared food. She is making a chicken and rice casserole with skill and aplomb because the owners send their teenage employees to food preparation school after they are hired. Her co-worker joins her and they sing a rousing duet praising the deliciousness of the casseroles, quiches, salads, hors d'oeuvres and desserts they are making. As a finale, they dish the food into containers labeled with heating directions (if required) before putting them in large freezers and refrigerators from which customers can choose their ready-made fare. CURTAIN CALL The crowd leaps to its feet shouting "brava", flowers pelt the stage, customers flock to the counter to order their meals, and a proud Dolph stands with tears in his eyes because of the beauty of the performance. He just wishes his daughter would repeat that performance in his own kitchen (particularly with potato salad or a cobbler)! Sigh... The reviews are raves! Previously, in B4-U-EAT, customers have gushed: "I purchased the Lasagna, returned home, warmed it in the oven and it was the best ever! The creamiest cheese I've EVER had on lasagna. The small portion was enough for 3 servings. Looking forward to the Chicken Divan tonight!" "Very fresh ingredients, tasty pastas and sauces. The King Ranch Salad is my favorite item." "FANTASTIC FOOD!! They catered a small Christmas party for me, and the guests raved about the food! ONe friend said it was the best food he had ever had at a party! I will use them again and again!"
