I though sushi chef is Japanese due to web site, but actually they were Chinese chef. So I ordered Agedashi tofu and Nabeyaki Udon. Miso soup was no good taste just like water. Agedashi tofu was not good, it is not the way to cook as Japanese food. Nabeyaki Udon's soup taste is very cheap taste, not good DASI. Everything doesn't cook as Japanese foods. My family has enjoyed Sakura on a number of occasions and we are rarely disappointed. The food is fresh, clean, colorful and creative. Their weekend sushi lunches are amazing -- 2 or 3 rolls of your choice (from a list) come with salad and miso soup for under $13! Hubby is not the biggest fan because the food doesn't fill him up -- but the rest of us love it. We typically take out because it is cheaper to do so (it can be on the expensive side). Sometimes the restaurant/bar area is crowded too so take-out at home is preferred for us. They do make a nice sangria tho while you wait! :D read more

Hands down best sushi I've ever had--no joke! I could literally live off sushi in general so I'm always looking for new places to try, and when I lived in downtown Boston for a few years I went to all the "trendy" sushi bars I could find. Without question Sakura has them all easily beat. The fact Sakura uses organic ingredients and wild fish is probably the best bonus I could ask for; I can indulge my cravings guilt and worry free! Every roll I've had has been outstanding, but I particularly enjoy the Hawaii Maki and the Fire on Fish Maki. The veggie tempura is also amazing and my boyfriend raves about the sashimi as well. Staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. I visit/order from here about once a week and have never been disappointed. Love this place! read more

We ordered takeout/delivery through Grubhub. As always the quality of food was excellent. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is due to packaging for delivery. One of the items was raw sushi. It was packaged with warm items. For food safety, cold and hot items should be packaged separately. read more

What can I say. Wife and I came on a Friday evening hoping for a great place. It was just ok. Spicy edamame was dry and had no flavor. Drinks very good, service was decent, sushi was salty and a little dry. Salty not from soy sauce but they actually put course salt on the bottom of the sushi rolls. , why???? On our way from a visit with family in Reading, we found ourselves driving through Wakefield Center and the organic sushi sign caught our eye so in we went, and we are glad we did! It was not too busy on a Thursday early evening so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The restaurant is cozy and beautifully decorated and comfortable. The bar was sizeable and well stocked. We ordered a sushi boat for 2 that included 18 nigri, 18 maki, a spicy tuna roll, a California roll, 2 salads and 2 miso soups, a General Gau roll, a Pink Lady maki and a Philadelphia maki for the adults and an order of shumai, teriyaki chicken and spring rolls for the kids. The food was beautifully presented and I kid you not, the sushi literally MELTED in your mouth! It was a wonderful dining experience. The spicy tuna was perfectly spiced. The Pink Lady could have been a meal onto itself. They have some pretty creative maki that I'm looking forward to sampling. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was attentive and pleasant. It seems that they do a ton of take out, which is good news because I can see us swinging through again when in the area! Prices are reasonable and affordable. On street parking was easy. Obviously there is an issue with the safe handling of food at this place. Not only have others had issues, but I have had issues both times I visited. The first time I had Sushi I had Spicy Tuna And California Rolls. I also had some noodles. The noodles were completely tasteless. The sushi didn't seem too bad, though nothing special until approximately 2:30AM when I was awoken to the roaring sound of my stomach combined with burps that could deafen a small village. This all came together when my mouth began to get watery. I wasn't sure if I should face the toilet or sit down on it. Long story short, I missed work the next day. Now, I should also note that I had also eaten Chipotle, so at this time I didn't know which was to blame. So I was dumb enough to go back for more sushi. Before bed I put a bucket in my bathroom and good thing I did, because a few hours later it came out both ends. Food poisoning galore, you have been warned. I couldn't even work the next day because it wouldn't stop. read more

I have never dined in, but do take-out from this place regularly. The sushi is excellent and good price, the kitchen entrees are fantastic. I recently discovered that their lunch version of Chicken Katsu has egg and green onions mixed into the cut up chicken cutlet, and it is absolutely heavenly. The entree portions are so large that they easily feed two people, and also come with great miso soup with lots of seaweed and salad with delicious mustard dressing. The only disappointment we ever had was beef tereyaki. The beef was too fatty and the tereyaki sauce tasted really bland. read more

Disclaimer: Never ended up eating here. Walked in, ordered some green tea and decided on our lunch order. By the time we ordered it was 2:45 and the lunch specials ran until 3pm (according to the menu). The waiter took our order and later came back to tell us they weren't serving lunch anymore. We noted the time to him, he shrugged, and went back to his manager who came out and simply told us they wouldn't serve us lunch. No explanation as to why, and upon realizing that if we were to order what we wanted off the dinner menu, it would cost us a lot more. We decided it wasn't worth it, paid for our green tea and left. This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Wakefield! Amazing food and drinks! Pretty neat atmosphere, the place has some TV's hanging on the wall and some neon lights on the bar. Not an extremely large place, just the right size for the type of cuisine it is. We ordered everything at once. We got each got a hot and sour soup, shared an order of the fried calamari, and each got a Snow Mountain maki. The soup came out first and let me tell you...it was simply AMAZING. This was the simply the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. I do like spicy food a lot, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much...so just a heads up that this is very spicy.The fried calamari came out next, it was thick cut and fried in tempura batter. It was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again since the portion was extremely small (came on a side-plate sized plate and consisted of about 10-12 pieces of fried calamari...very small portion for the price which was around $8). The sushi took the longest to get, but well worth the wait! The Snow Mountain maki is described as "Shrimp tempura & crab stick inside topped with king crab meat salad". The king crab meat salad on top of the sushi was amazing and the seafood in the sushi was fresh. I would have given Sakura 5 stars, but the overpriced food and long wait for service took that star away. Other than that, I highly recommend it!! I'll definitely be returning! read more

Biggest pro to this place - it's within walking distance of our house! We've eaten here a bunch of times, and my fiancé gets delivery almost every Sunday when I'm away (Sushi Sunday!) The decor is nice, very trendy, though the layout is somewhat awkward. There's a back room that we say in once and you're very secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Drinks always seem to be slow coming out, but the food is good and reasonably priced. I'm not a very adventurous sushi eater, but the rolls I've had were good. Spicy Tuna roll is tasty, though occasionally a bit heavy on the crispy bits. Snow Mountain maki is good! The rolls do tend to be a bit rice heavy. We moved from Malden and All Season's Table will always be our favorite, but Sakura is good and will remain one of our Wakefield staples. read more

I like Sakura Organic. The food is excellent! It's nice to have tasty food options without a lot of MSG. The bar is fine with me, The drinks are good sized. I dislike places that charge full price for half a martini. The place is new and very very clean. The atmosphere is bright and mixed cosmopolitan with casual. They have great live music that gives younger musicians a real chance to work and perform. The owners are a very kind and generous young couple who are very friendly to their customers. We used to order from here every few months as it's one of the only places around that delivers sushi. The sushi is average. Over the last year, we have tried ordering some of the "Chinese" food twice, and it was a huge disappointment both times. Tonight we ordered fried rice and General Gao's chicken which I consider fairly basic Chinese take out. The rice was flavorless, but edible. The chicken was clearly very poor quality meat, and I couldn't eat it. I think we are done with this place. read more

WARNING TO GLUTEN FREE CUSTOMERS: I HAVE BEEN POISONED TWICE! I used to be a regular, the food is pretty good, but they are not careful with GF orders. And, they are rude to you when you tell them. The first time, i let go, everyone makes mistakes, but the last time was obnoxious. I became extra careful when ordering to avoid any mistakes. The man who took my order read my long order back to me mentioning gluten free each time, with each item, like he was mocking me, then they failed to substitute their fake crab for real shrimp. Organic, really? why not use real crab? What was worse than being made so sick, was their unapologetic and rude response. I had ordered about $90 worth of food and when i called to tell them they made me sick, the woman owner put me on hold came back and confirmed that yes the mistake was made. No apology, no offer to credit my money back or anything. When i told her i should not have to pay so much for a meal that would make me sick for a week. She offered to take the $7 item off that made me sick and charge full price for the rest. I pushed back and got a $20 credit. But, being so cheap and short sighted has cost them much more, they lost a regular's business. I looked through my bank records and had spent thousands there over a couple years. Their loss. Sakura is NOT Organic and should be ashamed of the way they handled my situation. read more

I am so happy to have a great place for sushi in Wakefield. I hold all of my sushi experiences to the standards of Oishii. It is very fresh, beautifully presented and the staff was wonderful. I've only been once but have a good friend that has been several times and says it's among the best he has had. We met the owner, Mark who was SO nice and gracious. Best Japanese I've ever had! I've been here for both dinner and lunch and plan to come often. Everything is very fresh. My favorites: Octopus Carpaccio appetizer, the Mango California Maki and the Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail collar). I've never had such delicious fish. I ordered delivery from here today after months of passing by the restaurant on Main Street. The sushi was great! I'm a regular at Avana Sushi in Reading and Boston, and I have to say that it was comparable. However, the avocado salad was not. It literally was just avocados doused in mayo. I expected something lighter. I know mayo is an ingredient in avocado salad, but it shouldn't have been that much. The reason for my 3 stars was the customer service. I ordered via grubhub and specifically asked for a call. I did not receive a call, instead I received a loud knock on my door. Strike one. Strike two was the way the delivery man asked for a tip. I signed my receipt, and was just about ready to tell him that I was going to run upstairs to get it when he rudely interrupted me and asked, "You indicated that you would pay cash for a tip." As someone who has worked takeout, and delivery, the rule of thumb is to always ask nicely. I kindly tipped 20%, because I know how hard food service is. Bottom line: Great sushi, bad customer service. read more
