The experience was fun and nice. But the shrimp was poor quality and also the lady took my order wrong so I was the only person without fried rice for my appetizer. That was disappointing. On top of that she was the one who made a mistake and probably realized it so she came back and asked me if I was the one who wanted steamed rice to make it seem like I ordered that which I didn't. Mind you we were already half way into our meal. Then I said no I wanted the fried rice which is what i initially ordered so she told me it will cost extra. Then I said whatever I am already halfway through my meal and my boyfriend shared with me his portion. Like Jesus lady you made a mistake and tried to put it on me that I want steamed rice. Also the chef totally forgot my boyfriend's families allergies and proceeded to cook everything together. But thankfully someone reminded him that they had a shrimp allergy. Jesus! Hopefully they get their orders right for someone else.

It's been years since I've gone to a hibachi restaurant and I don't know why it's been so long! I can't believe I'm writing this about a hibachi restaurant. We were hit with a dinner lull and wanted something a little exciting. Having a kid, we wanted something fun and entertaining, and wow, this place hit all the marks. Our kid especially enjoyed the experience and gobbled up the soup, fried rice and even some of the meat! Portions were huge, chicken was super tender, shrimp was cooked perfectly, and steak was surprising not bad. I loved the fried rice and veggies and I mean, who can go wrong with the yum yum sauce? I thought the price was a little overpriced but for dinner and a show, I can't wait for the next time to go back. Service was prompt, and very attentive. It was packed for a Wednesday night and will def make reservations next time. Don't know about the sushi bar, but can't wait to go back.

Was fun meal because the chef made it fun. My steak was overcooked, though supposed to be medium rare but was well. Very dry. Didn't eat it. The apps and sides were good, and I was full when I left.

Fun place to go for celebrations. Loved the way that the chef interacted with us, he was pretty fun. It definitely is a popular place since there are a lot of people there, but fortunately we got a seat together. The food is good, nice proportions for the pricing. I've came here before in december and it was nice to celebrate graduation here in may :)

I've been to Sakura before, but sat on the sushi side of the restaurant. This time, I went with a group of friends for hibachi. The chef put on a good show with flames and throwing food to catch in your mouth. I ordered the mushrooms appetizer, and shrimp & filet minon combo. I loved the filet minon so much. It was tender and juicy! I highly recommend it. My husband's appetizer was chicken livers. I honestly wish I got that, but the mushrooms I got were good too. Aside from the chef we also had a server getting us our drinks and high chairs, as needed. All in all, it was really good time. I'll definitely be back.

I never thought I would frequent a hibachi place for their sushi but it's just such high tier sushi that I always make a left at the hostess stand to get to the sushi bar (instead of right towards hibachi). The cuts of fish are thick, the sauce on the spicy rolls have the best ratio of fish/Mayo/spicy, and the seared salmon melts in my mouth. When I come here, I don't crave the fancy rolls with a bunch of ingredients because I know their regular rolls already pack a bunch of flavor. The sushi price at Sakura being cheaper than the surrounding area helps me justify eating out here so often. A meal for me to be full costs ~$22 (for 2 rolls and 2 pieces of seared fish).

Heirloom - This was REALLY tasty!

Heirloom

Like Trios, but even better. Get ready for a bunch of superlatives…read more.. This place has some similarities to Trios in Merrifield. Both Heirloom and Trios are attached to--and share a kitchen with--a Roadhouse Grill, and all of them are owned by the same parent company. However, Heirloom is much smaller, which I suspect makes it easier to control quality. Based on my experiences--one visit here and many visits to Trios over the years--the quality of just about everything is better at Heirloom. My meal consisted of their Smoked Manhattan, the Burrata salad, and the Heirloom Burger. (The burger was so good that they named the restaurant after it!) The Manhattan was one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. It had a wonderfully mellow, balanced flavor that edged toward sweet, despite being made with rye. Maybe it was the aroma--and eventual taste--of the large toasted marshmallow suspended over my glass where the cherry would normally go? I guess, to be sure, I'll have to go back and order another. The Burrata did what all great burratas do: each bite felt like a mouthful of sunshine. The cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette combined to create pure culinary happiness. The only better burrata I can recall was at Mikrolimano in Athens. However, once you factor in travel time and parking, Heirloom is definitely the better value. The Heirloom Burger was absolutely delicious. This past week I've been waxing poetic about burgers because one of the Hackney's restaurants back home is closing after 70 years, so emotionally, I'm not prepared to bestow any new burger honors just yet. However, check back in a few weeks, and you may very well see this review updated to say that the Heirloom Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Other logistics... The service was OUTSTANDING. We were seated right at our reservation time, greeted warmly by several staff members, and waited on nearly hand and foot by Alex. She explained the menu, helped us select our beverages, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. It was attentive service without ever feeling intrusive. Parking is free after 5 and on weekends in a multi-story garage about half a block away. Happy hour is 5-7. They call Heirloom a speakeasy, but it feels more like a small restaurant with an eight-stool bar and a few high-tops. It's intimate compared with the Roadhouse, but not exactly speakeasy-intimate. And, finally, Heirloom is inside Roadhouse. You walk down a hallway, turn left into a very short hallway, open an unmarked door, and then go through a second door marked only by a red rose on the handle. I suspect the obscure entrance is their justification for calling it a speakeasy. But with food and service this good, they can call it whatever they like.

Word of advice: make a reservation! When you step through the doors, you're greeted by that lively hum of a packed house with every booth and table full. Scored a parking spot right outside, which was a great start to the night. Bread Basket: Outstanding start. The little round fried dough breads were incredible, and the artisan loaf (seemed like an olive bread) paired with the butter was fantastic. Calamari & Onion Strings: Fried to absolute crispy perfection without being greasy. Since my wife has a lobster allergy, they accommodated us by putting the lobster ginger sauce on the side for me. That sauce is killer, and the calamari and onion strings stood strong on their own, too. Side Salad: Came with the steak and was generous enough for my wife and me to share. I can't recall the exact dressing name from the menu, but it was seasoned and balanced completely on point. Drunken Ribeye & Loaded Baked Potato: Hands down one of the best restaurant dishes I've had in a very long time. First off, I loved the humor on the menu under the meat temperature guide, under 'Well Done' it literally says "Order chicken." Hilarious! I ordered mine rare, and they executed it flawlessly. Tender, high-quality cut of beef, great char, and deep, phenomenal flavor. The loaded baked potato had the exact right ratios of all the fixings. Portions were so generous that half went home for lunch the next day. Jambalaya Pasta: My Wife (My BFF) ordered this for her entree and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The high ratings and reviews for this place did not lie. If you are in the Northern Virginia area, or looking for a meal that genuinely justifies the trip, do your stomach a favor and check out Artie's. 5 stars all the way!

My mother and I went out for lunch to this place today, and we specifically ordered the…read morebranzino/lemon caper entree with a side of the cream sauce from the Chilean sea bass. We were unfortunately served the branzino topped with only the Chilean garlic sauce and not the lemon caper sauce at all. The server wasn't seeming to know what to do with our dissatisfied reaction, so we decided to salvage the fish and ordered the lemon caper on the side, it tasted bland at best. Fish was fine, but unfortunately there was nothing worth mentioning positively about it for its $37 price point. *Neither sauce was worth ordering and unfortunately neither tasted how they were described, more like plain aioli. In our ignorance, we didn't realize branzino meant the whole fish would be served versus a filet. It would have been nice to have been able to read that fact on the menu prior to ordering. We ordered the truffle fries, which had probably zero amounts of truffle on them. Overcooked. We ordered the tropical mojito mocktail, and it was either poorly made or the recipe could use a complete reset. The crab stuffed mushrooms and sauce, amazing. Server, kind. We were asking quite a few questions of him, trying to decide between the Chilean with lobster or the branzino, which showed our ignorance in the fish choices, I believe. A good server would have picked up on this, and went into a much more detailed explanation of both dishes to educate and inform us on making the right decision. So I think it's pretty accurate to say that a good majority of the problems we had could have been salvaged had he been a little more seasoned at reading the individual needs of his customers. Although, with ordering either of these entrees or the truffle fries, we would have been disappointed as the flavor was just not there. Being out of towners used to seafood from California, we were excited to try a new place on the east coast. I read multiple positive reviews from other customers, and unfortunately we are leaving disappointed in the $80 spent. We joked that perhaps the usual chef called in sick and the bus boy took his place. Underwhelming. Overcooked. Bland. But, they had pretty tables.

Peel and eat shrimp well seasoned with old bay. The fried trio was amazing as well. Everything perfectly fried and the Chipotle sauce delicious! For mains we went with the Chilean sea bass and lobster special. Fish and lobster was well prepared in a creamy sauce on top of mashed potatoes. Delicious and the potatoes were plentiful. We had an incredible experience celebrating a birthday at Evelyn Rose!…read more The menu is exciting, seasonal, and features a TON of local options and farms- you can taste the difference. We decided to start by sharing the wagyu carpaccio, the fried green tomatoes, and an appetizer portion of the cavatelli- I really like that you can do appetizer portions of both pastas on rotation on the menu here. We were also brought two pieces of focaccia with incredibly flavorful olive oil (yum!). The cavatelli and the fried green tomatoes were standouts for us, the pasta had a great chew and the bolognese was really flavorful. The fried green tomatoes came topped with a pimento cheese that was incredible. For our entrees, we opted for the braised bison shoulder and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly prepared and were a very generous portion. The bison shoulder was so tender and the accompaniments were incredible- this was a perfect fall dish. We also got the charred sweet summer corn, which was delicious and came studded with the lightest goat cheese, and rustic Old Bay potatoes, which were absolutely perfectly fried and came with a side of some honey mustard. We took a good amount of the sides home and they held up for a day or two! I was really impressed with the wine list here- there were a lot of solid options. The champagne in particular was excellent (and I am picky!). Our server, who I believe was Riley, really made it a special night. He was so attentive and had excellent suggestions. One touch that was so thoughtful was that we had declined dessert because we would be having birthday cake later, but mentioned that the banana tres leches sounded so good. He brought over a scoop of the banana ice cream that's typically on top of that dessert with a candle in it! It was so kind of him to listen to us but still recognize that it was a special occasion- and it was some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time (he said it is made in house every day with duck eggs, it was so rich and flavorful). We have already booked our return reservation here! Thanks to Evelyn Rose for a wonderful night with such memorable food.

I would have loved to be seated next the the staircase because it has some nice sight lines. The restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated as if you stepped into a homey yet lux cabin restaurant. It just feels....comforting. There were a lot of people dining here but the noise level was surprisingly minimal. The service is impeccable. Every waiter was attentive. Someone even asked us if we wanted another drink when our glasses were full. Never in my life has that happen to me. Lol The server was very knowledgeable about everything and left me to decided between all the wonderful options they offer. And they have OPTIONS. I heard the steak is banging. I'll be back... Now let's talk about these Ozzie dinner rolls. Bomb! End of story. And in my Nike voice....Just do it. In other words stuff your face and get some to go. I got blessed with 2 baskests and a bag to go. Won't he do it. My son enjoyed his little Mac aka his burger and fries but was too full to finish the fries because he stuff his face with Ozzie dinner rolls. So be careful yall. You have been warned. I orderer the pecan trout which was a very interesting take on baked fish and yet it was still good. I'm not raving about it. But it was good. Nice thing is they give you to pieces of trout 1 for now and 1 for later because yes I stuffed my face with those darn Ozzie rolls. Smh I had my eyes set on that deep dish apple pie and I shall return to try it and other menu items..like that banging steak. My leftovers hit the spot. I had enough for a whole lunch the next day. Saved me extra resources. Everything tasted even better the next day. Like the seasoning settled in and exploded into deliciousness. Peoples I say this with love...Don't come here because I don't want yall taking up all the free parking spaces available. Lol this is my new go to spot.

I was the only one drinking alcohol and had the spiked cherry mimosa. Started our really tart.... Ended? Well... I drank 4 of them! LOL! 'Nuff said! I did not find out until after we left the restaurant that both my daughter and my friend felt like their steaks were bit overcooked, but to the restaurants defense, neither one of them told our waiter what temperature they would like to have it cook to and so I, and they, agreed that they both had enough experience eating in steakhouses to know to ask a steak to be cooked to whatever temperature they preferred. So this is not on anybody except them. I would ask the restaurant in the future to instruct their wait staff to ask anyone ordering steak, regardless of size, what they're preferred temperature is. That being said they said that the flavor of their steak was still excellent! It was my first time here and will certainly not be the last! Parking lot isn't super big but we were able to get a spot. We got seated immediately. Restaurant had a nice classic look inside but the tables were a little too close together.
