Sak's Off 5th is not a destination for me; I never make a trip specifically here, but if I am at Bridgeport Village, I will do a walk through to see what is available in the designer handbag and sunglass area. They always have a large and varied selection of designer handbags at all price points and colors beside black! Over the years I have bought Rebecca Minkoff bags for under $100 or a much coveted Valentino for 3 bills. Wanting an updated version of the "fanny pack" now transformed into a waist bag, I found a beautiful black leather waist bag by Frye for $45. It's great for concerts, basketball games, any place where you don't want to worry about a carrying a handbag but need a place for your keys and phone. My friends laughed at me for buying it, but now they are jealous and wish they had grabbed one while they were there! Sak's Off 5th also has hundreds of designer sunglasses, literally, at reduced prices; many at half the retail price. Over the years I have bought several very stylish pairs - Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Balmain to name a few. Since I love jewelry and accessories, I always cruises through these small departments. The jewelry is expensive, even with the markdowns, and I have yet to buy anything. The accessories - scarves, hats, sunhats, shawls - are limited in variety and quantity, but you can find nice items at really good prices. Just yesterday I bought a Missoni scarf in all shades of blues and purples on black, in their signature zig zag print. Its stunning and for $70, it was a third of the retail price. Happy Valentine's to me! I've tried to shop in the clothing area but it is too much work! The way its organized just makes shopping for clothes a chore so I skip this area. The sales reps always let me browse on my own, which is my preference. Some shoppers want to be greeted and asked if they need help. Not me! I'm here to peruse the aisles, see if anything catches my eye, and be on my way. If I need or want assistance, I ask. No issues at all if they don't initiate an interaction. read more

I have found a few treasures over the years... Navy blue D&G sunglasses, a beautiful vase for a friend and most recently a green Marc Jacobs iPad case (for $32, score). I have not ever purchased a pair of shoes here even though I browse every time. I think the sunglasses, accessories and home decor sections are the stars here. Worst. Service. Ever. I visited this location a couple of weeks ago for the first and last time. It was a relatively busy Saturday, but not so busy that there were more shoppers than store associates. After perusing the jewelry case for about 10 minutes I went in search of an associate to assist me in opening up some of the cases. I went to the front register where three associates were mulling over a register and politely asked if someone would be able to help me over in the jewelry department. The older associate looked up and said rudely that she would be over in a minute. Several minutes later I spotted her walking towards the jewelry department looking around for me, but not remembering who exactly had asked for help. I raised my hand and waived at her. Once at the jewelry cases, I asked the associate to show me 4 pieces (a ring, two necklaces, and a bracelet.) I tried on the pieces and asked the usual questions about them -- who is the maker? What kind of metal is it? Will it fade or rub off etc? She was not knowledgable about any of these things and had to ask over her radio to find the answers. One of the items had gold plated parts on it that had tarnished/rubbed off and were now silver in some areas. I brought this to her attention and she said she thought it was probably supposed to look like that. Having this piece at home myself I assured her that it was not supposed to look like that. She shrugged and put the item back in the case instead of removing to be sent back to the designer. What a joke. I hope someone else doesn't come in and buy this defective item! On top of the negative feeling I got here, I am generally unhappy with the way this brand of outlet store is run. Almost every one I have ever visited has had associates that I can only describe as "snotty" or "arrogant." I kind of understand how that all works at top end department stores like Saks, Neiman Marcus, or Bloomingdales, where the floors are immaculate and I can't really afford anything (or am unwilling to pay the exorbitant prices for goods), but I really do not understand where the snob factor comes into play at an outlet store. Items are falling off the racks, the quality and selection of handbags and accessories are "meh," and you don't feel like you're shopping in a high fashion environment, so why do the people working there act like they are? read more

1 star for decent shoe selection that typically doesn't let me down 1 star for the employees and their great service 1 star for overall goods and name brands on sale I still don't know how to feel about this place overall however. Like most of these "off the rack" type places the selection is very hit or miss. They do occasionally have good sales. Yesterday when I arrived all sunglasses were $100 or below. Not a bad deal, but again they didn't have as great of a selection as they have had in the past. Clothing...aside from designer jeans...eh. Not too impressed. Most of their items were not my style. The handbags can be OK at times but many are still overpriced. Men's section is actually pretty decent from what I've seen. Especially if you are looking for dress clothing or suits. Jewelry is pretty and they do have a decent selection. Everything from high end to lower end that all still looks good. I'm a member of Saks, and as a member I get emails of their current sales now & then. Because of that, I decided to take another look, if there was anything I wanted, before they are sold out, and they are selling fast. There was, but instead of taking advantage of FREE shipping/FREE return (store) and INSTEAD of ordering online, I decided to go for a road trip to Bridgeport Rd, & try them on myself . . . since it is a nice sunny winter afternoon, and just browse and brought plenty of cash with me. So, I visited each department, and let hubby go off on his own, and see what he can find in his department. Several birthdays are coming in the next 5 months, so there's plenty of people to buy gifts for. The merchandise I found online were nowhere to be found. I asked 2 sales associated, if they could help me find them, but they looked @ me, like I came from Mars. They did try to point me the department, but they weren't much help! They weren't even friendly, and they looked tired. I went to the shoe department, there was only one person @ the cashier, but he wasn't helping anyone, I decided I didn't really need that shoes! I moved to the jewelry department and found several inside a glass case. Again, I stood there waiting for someone to come & help me. WOULDN'T you know it, the guy from the shoes came marching in (did someone saw me standing there from their surveillance camera, that I needed help? and called him?) then he paged someone else to come open the glass case, it happened to be the same associate who was trying to help me earlier. Oh great! Not her again! After asking questions about the ring & necklace I wanted, NO, they don't fix them if the pearls will fall out. I went ahead & bought them! When I got home, the pearl on my ring fell out! I tried pushing it back in, and decided to keep it. The next morning, I couldn't find a tube of epoxy glue (not mentioned brand name - I'm not advertising here) recommended by a Jeremy Shepherd President and Founder PearlParadise.com, Inc., I decided to return the ring, what if it falls out AGAIN? Off 5th, is an OUTLET store, whatever they have ONLINE, they don't have the same merchandise they have @ the store! So, if you want something ordered that you like, get them shipped FREE but return them with tags @ the store, but make sure you read ALL THE DESCRIPTIONS, because for the high end price you're paying for, you can buy them @ Marshall's or TJ Maxx, without driving all the way to Bridgeport Rd. Hubby didn't find anything! BTW: for any jewelry sold elsewhere, they would probably guarantee it, or fix it! Not here, buyer beware! Do you call that, good customer service? UPDATE; While I drove all the way back to Bridgeport, to return my ring, the clerk (manager) who was helping me decided THEY COULD FIX my ring. But, the clerk that answered my question, when I was buying the ring COULD have told me that, and NOT AFTER I've driven back there. If I could leave a 0 star review, trust me I would. I have been a Sak's customer for a very long time and I went in to look at a Gucci purse they had and they have the same purse in 2 different colors and just because one was more desirable than the other, they would not mark it down to honor the price of the other bag. The difference was only $300 less so it's not like we were asking for something absurd. So we asked to speak to a manager and we got the assistant manager. And then he said that they couldn't do it and when we said it didn't make sense to have 2 purses at different prices he said, We would love to but we can't because we aren't the full line store. So basically what I learned was that customer service is lost if you aren't shopping in a full line store. read more

I find the measure of a business is best taken when something goes wrong. Sadly, Saks OFF Fifth does not stand behind their products once out the door and I will NOT be shopping there again. Bought a pair of men's dress shoes with a sticker price of $250, marked down to $125. Took them home, put them on, drove to a restaurant, and the heel fell off when I got up to use the mens room. Imagine my surprise when the shoe construction completely failed when I as doing nothing but sitting there, less than an hour into wearing them. Took the shoes back and asked for a refund. I acknowledged that I had worn the shoes outside, technically that portion of my home between the front door and the car, and between the car and the restaurant, but that was enough for them to void the refund policy. The kind woman who helped me said it was store policy and nothing could be done, though she did acknowledge that the shoes looked hardly worn and that the nails weren't long enough (my cobbler would later confirm the shoe design was flawed, the heel nothing but pressed paper, and surprised the sticker price was so high). All I got was a partial refund, and for that I really had to fight and raise my voice, something I really hate to do. Many, many other stores when faced with a clearly defective product will refund or exchange the product so that a customer does not feel that ALL of their purchases at store are potentially defective and unsupported, all I got was a few bucks back to cover cobbler's repairs. If this was an atypical circumstance I would expect them to take an atypical response to their policy, but sadly all they communicated to me was "buyer beware" so I'll do my shopping where I get better service. read more

Discounted Frye boots (sure they are from last season, but come on they're FRYE'S!!!!!) for 25% off...of wait...there's a doorbuster sale for buy one get one free??????? Mike S. and I stopped in because I had been wanting to check this place out for a little while. As we wandered into the women's shoe department I was in heaven. I left with $1000 worth of boots for $222. After that I couldn't really even shop anywhere else. No one else was offering 25% off and buy one get one free promotions...I was ruined. The 50% off coupon I was handed at Banana Republic was like trash in comparison. There are definitely some great finds here. The store is pretty large and it does seem hit or miss. Some things will be amazing prices and others are pretty standard. We had great service overall, including the shoe department where women were literally pushing past each other to get to boots. I guess I might be slightly biased here, going to the same place I used to buy quinoa from to peruse Burberry coats and L.A.M.B. jeans. But I was expecting quite a bit more from Bridgeport Village's Sak's Off 5th. I visited within a week or so of the grand opening, on my lunch break from work. It was a quieter weekday, with a few less Lake Oswegans tearing through the parking lot and wrestling into McCormick & Schmidt's than usual. Which is good news when you have 30 minutes to park, browse and get back. I was thinking some serious renovations and chic-ups would've gone into turning ex-Wild Oats into a space worthy of these holy brands, but nope. The space looked almost exactly the same - like a big, empty grocery store with warehouse-style ceilings, sterile floors and drab lighting. I felt like I was in Burlington Coat Factory. Nevertheless, despite a pretty complete lap around the whole place, not a single not-so-busy sales associate bothered to offer me any assistance. And here I thought my shoes were kind of cute, at least Whole Foods-worthy... oh well. If I'm going to spend $200 on a scarf, I'll go to Nordstrom's and be treated like a valued customer. I went here right after it opened in September and was impressed. They have a nice selection of clothes and the prices were good considering what they have to offer. I had very good service from one of the employees who turned me on to a sweater and pants that I probably wouldn't normally buy and now I really like both of them. The layout is nice and clothes are not strewn all over the place like a lot of other outlets. You do have to hunt to find the real bargains but for me that's half the fun. I really want to say good things about this company, but after multiple chances hoping to have a good experience at this store I've continued to be let down. Each time I've went the customer service has been TERRIBLE and the employees are very condescending. The last time I was here I bought a pair of there designer sneakers and the employee had gotten me my size and packed them up for me only to find out when I got back home that he gave me the wrong size. I called the store where they offered to ship me the correct size and to return the pair I had got which was perfectly fine with me. About a week passed and I hadn't gotten the shoes or any emails so I called and they said that the order was canceled. No one had called me to let me know at all and at this point it was pretty frustrating. The manager offered to check with the stores that had it to try shipping it again so we did this and two weeks went by and no shoes. This time my card was charged and when I called they said there was nothing they would do. So now I have to contact my bank and mark the transaction as fraudulent because of their stupidity. Deplorable store manager named Angela! This Saks Off 5th location at Bridgeport Village used to be one of "my top 5 favorite places to shop" in my local area. I have enjoyed shopping there for years and always enjoyed the quality of merchandise, good prices and pleasant employees. However, today I experienced an unpleasant treatment from one of the managers named Angela, who I have never encountered before. At first, I was delighted to discover that the store had a one-day "$19.99 final sale" on certain clearance shoes. Sounds good, right? Well, not really! Apparently even though some shoes had $19.99 red stickers, they still rang up at a higher price at register. Unfortunately, this is what happened to me. And when the sales associate asked the manger if she could adjust the price she said "NO! I'm not going to because customers are always switching price stickers." (Sometimes it's not only what is said, but how it is said. It felt so uncomfortable!) When I asked very politely, "what exactly are you saying?" She looked at me and said, "Well, I'm not saying you did, but it happens all the time where customers switch." My authentic response was, "Ok, let's go look at your security footage together; you have cameras at every angle throughout this store. You will see that these boots are exactly how I picked them up. And they have not only one, but 3 red stickers for the same price, $19.99, which makes it more evident that it was mistakenly "mis-priced" by the store & not some customer trying to save a few dollars!" At this point any decent & efficient manger would try to come up with an effective solution, or simply apologized on the store's behalf for the mis-labeling. But sadly, not, this "manager." She stoically said, "We don't have to honor it & I'm not doing it!" Then, I simply said, "OK, I am going to contact the corporate office to see what their policy is." She completely ignored me and walked away. Unbelievable! What a rude, cold and terrible store representative. The experience was so upsetting, that I went outside and called the Corporate Office from my car the parking lot. The Customer Service Rep on the line was very kind, understanding & professional; and apologized on behalf of Saks Off 5th & the store manager Angela; and I was able to purchase the shoe online for the store's stickered price. This low 1-Star review is for my experience in the Sak's Off 5th, Tigard, OR location only. The tacky behavior of the manager Angela was truly despicable to me. Hardly anyone in the place and yet not one of the sales associates bothered to acknowledge me. They stood around chatting and trying crap on but looked right through me. I wasn't impressed with the variety of merchandise. It truly felt like they trucked a few pieces out of their primary store to stick in this drafty warehouse space. If you want a nice suit or whatever, you can find it here at nearly Nordstrom Rack prices. The staff are all cold in that way that staff at high-end luxury stores tend to be. I used to love this store, and would recommend it to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately my last experience here was horrible and degrading due to the hostile customer service I received from Brian and his elder male manager. For this, I will not be back. I arrived at the store at around 7:00 pm thinking that it was open until 9:00 pm. At around 7:30 they killed the music. Concerned that I had lost track of time I went up to the manager on duty and asked if the store was closed. He told me I had 15 minutes left--which turned out actually to be a lie because the store apparently closes at 8:00, meaning I still had 30 minutes. I think it's important to note that up until this point I had no interactions with any employees, despite the fact there were 3 employees working and I was the only customer in the store. Attempting to be considerate, I moved to the fitting rooms even though I hadn't finished browsing. I let myself into the fitting room as no one was interested in assisting me. The uncomfortable silence that filled the store after the music was turned off led me to rush through the process of trying on clothes--very aware of this obvious cue that I was an unwelcome inconvenience at this point. At 15 minutes to close, Brian, who was standing 6 feet away from me and literally right next to my partner, began making passive aggressive announcements over the intercom that the store was closing and customers needed to head to the registers to checkout *now* and would need to be out of the store by 8:00pm sharp. I say passive aggressive because we were the only two people in the store and he could have just as easily turned his head to look at us and let us know the store was closing soon. Yet, Brian was intent on not having any personal interaction with us, never even having asked if I needed assistance or a different sizes despite the fact he was standing right next to us doing nothing besides impatiently waiting for us to leave (before the store had even closed). I also think it was noteworthy that at 15 minutes to close, his announcements indicated that I needed to head to the checkout counter immediately, instead of a typical early warning announcement which usually encourages shoppers to start finishing up making their selections. This furthered how unwelcome and uncomfortable I felt and my heart was literally racing with anxiety as I opted to put some things back without trying them on, and rejected other items that I may have otherwise purchased. Brian's passive aggressive announcements continued every 5 minutes, and concluded with a very huffy announcement that it was now two minutes after 8:00. All of this going on despite the fact my partner and I were the only ones in the store, standing mere feet away from him, and that I was audibly panicking and visibly trying to rush--throwing clothes over the dressing room door to my boyfriend so he could re-button and hang the rejects in a tag-team effort. I am not someone who needs to be fussed over in a store, and I have immense appreciation for people who work in retail and the service industry. However, the treatment I received from Brian and his manager were completely unacceptable and inexcusable. Brian and his manager are in desperate need of re-training *IF* the establishment truly wishes to retain their employment. read more

The suckiest part about coming to this store is the parking... seriously, it sucks. Really, really badly. Minus one star because I dislike the immediate lot so much. Besides that I am definitely a fan! Pong in shoes was seriously helpful and attentive. She set shoes aside for me, helped me search through their Prada selection, and offered to call around to find my size when our search wasn't fruitful. I wish I could get service like that at full-line stores! I didn't end up ordering the shoes, but I appreciated her efforts. During this visit I picked up a couple pair of shoes for myself and a Tumi wallet at a great price for my little brother. The other half also picked up two pairs of pants, one being DKNY on clearance for $20! What?! He's a tall guy so if we find anything at all we call it a victorious shopping trip. The shoe selection here is what brings me back again and again; even though turnover is low and some items seem to sit here for ages, I can almost always find something that catches my eye. The clothing section is usually such a mess, I don't even want to start shopping through that part of the store. I think the handbags are usually at decent prices, but I've occasionally seen items that are more than a few seasons old still sitting in that section, so it's definitely an area of the store where the buyer is advised to do their own due diligence to make sure they're buying something that isn't already hopelessly dated. Since I already own more sunglasses than I know what to do with, I've never shopped in that part of the store, but it all looks pretty standard to me. Shoes-wise, I've scored some really great shoes here, including Kork-Ease wedges for $20, Rebecca Minkoff brogues for $70, and Sperries for $20. I've yet to have to return anything I've bought here for shoddy workmanship (which is lucky, if I'm going off the reviews some other people have left), but I think that those shopping in stores like OFF 5th do have an obligation to be aware of what they're buying. To that end, here are a few helpful tips: (1) Always check seams and buttons on clothes. I'm always surprised by how often clothes with fraying threads and seams that don't lie flat stay on stores' racks; this is a bigger problem at stores like OFF 5th and Rack than it is at most boutiques. (2) Keep your receipts for your purchases. It seems obvious, but lots of people don't keep receipts, and then have trouble returning defective merchandise. (3) Whenever possible, try to buy brands that you're familiar with and whose workmanship you trust. (4) When buying bags, examine all zippers and closures to make sure they work properly. Be aware of how zippers feel when you zip and unzip; you want to make sure the action is smooth, because if it's finicky in store, you bet it'll be even more finicky after a few months of use. read more

The service here never ceases to amaze me. The gentleman associate who wanted to help me seemed liked he wanted to "genuinely help me." Much better than Nordstrom's and Nordstrom Rack (even if you're silver/gold tier, it doesn't guarantee good service). They get new clothing at least 3 times a week, so you're bound to find something new at every visit. The prices are reasonable, you can always find something in your price range. The shoe section is a little small, but they have an abundant supply of shirts and jeans. Like I have said before, sign up for More+, you get emails about special sales. I love a good deal but hate digging for it. I was excited to find this store. Definitely, good deals to be had. I needed a smaller purse and I had a lot to choose from and nice large mirrors so I could see what the purses looked like. I bought a Rebecca Minkoff purse with a price tag of 94.99 and it was 64.99 at checkout. So, obviously I felt I got a great deal! I'm not sure who to tell what's on sale or not. I'm guessing they are behind on signage. I can't say they have good service but they have some crazy deals. Although, the reviews about return trouble is alarming. I rarely return anything but if something goes wrong right off the bat I would expect replacement of product of equal value. I do not work for SAKS. I do not work for a outlet store. I used to work at a high-end retail store for 10 years. I must laugh at all the negative reviews posted by these people. To all these reviewers who walk into a an outlet type retailer such as The Rack or in this case, Saks Off Fifth; do not go in expecting the red carpet to be rolled out for you, where you are the center of attention. If that is what you want, go shop at full retail price high end stores. I never go into any of these outlet places expecting good service or to be treated in a similar fashion as I would going into Mario's for Women as example; is just never going to happen. Most of them sell Ross quality goods anyway. Lower our expectations and you wont be so angry. read more

My mother just had an absolutely ridiculous experience here today thanks to two "managers" (as they called themselves) at the jewelry counter. My mom is very particular about what she likes and doesn't like in terms of jewelry, so she usually orders a few similar items online to see which item looks best in person and then will return the ones that don't work for her. She ordered 4 pairs of earrings online and even talked to a sales woman from the online department who assured my mom that she could return the pairs she didn't like at the store in Bridgeport. All that to say, my mom brought the boxes with earrings, receipts, ID, the credit card she purchased them on... EVERYTHING perfectly as it was when it arrived (she didn't even try them on, she knew they weren't what she was looking for by just looking at them in the box). She went in and the first woman at the counter spent 10 minutes looking over everything and was very skeptical and rude. She took the boxes and my moms receipt into a back room where she spent another 10 minutes with another woman. They both treated her as if she had stolen something! By this point my mom was irritated, and asked to see a manager and the two women responded by saying that they were both managers and went on to say that one of the earrings looked damaged (though it hadn't even been removed from the damn box) and told her to return it by mail. At some point they finally did give my mom her money back, very reluctantly I might add-- as if they were doing her this extraordinary service. Saks itself had tremendous sales on their designer clothing that was unrivaled by Nordstrom; however, Saks Off 5th is no bargain. My review is limited to Women's Apparel at Saks Off 5th , perhaps they shine on other departments. I hope so or Saks Off 5th will fare no better than Saks did on Portland. Most women's designer pieces are years old, some known to be at least 5 years old, that are priced higher than this year's fashions cost on sale at Nordstrom. I recognize lots of dresses and handbags as ones that populated Nordstrom Rack a full 2 years ago - if these items were 70 -80% off, I would not be so critical but most are discounted 35-40% only and stay in the store indefinitely . Purchased a pair of sunglasses, but the mirrors there skew your body, so when I took them home and tried them on in front of my own mirror I found they were not for me. I went back to the store a day after I bought them and they wouldn't return them. They told me that the tag had been taken off and couldn't take them back. But the tag hadn't been taken off! They were allowing returns for other customers where the tags looked the same as mine or looked even worse than what I had. I spoke with one sales associate (tall blonde with short hair) and a manager (short red haired woman with black framed glasses) who were EXTREMELY RUDE. They wouldn't tell me their names or help me with my compliant. When I asked for the customer service number they told me to GOOGLE it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER and I've worked in the sales industry plenty. This is only a good place to shop if you're white and look rich, otherwise you will NOT be treated well. read more

Worst customer service in the field. Flea market with a roof. The head of the store Sandi Langman is actually more irritating in person than she is when she's sending me promotions off her email and the OFF5th email simultaneously. Everyone working there carries an air of pretention and hostility you will not find in any other store of this caliber, they act like the customer. I shopped here for a year without a hitch but I guess that has more to do with me than them. Consider every sale final. I went to return a two day old item with stains on the back, stains we found on other items at the store, and hit a brick wall of associates and managers, each offered no help and continued to stand by as their bosses belittled me. There was something like 5 people behind the counter when I left. Here the customer is a cheap bastard until proven otherwise. I was told I put two black stains on my shirt, a shirt that never made it outside. Every surface it touched I could count on one hand. To add insult to injury, my shirt was rejected as a return and their underwear section consisted of primarily opened packages. Disgusting. Working in retail previously I understand that a return creates a dent in the days sales. This dent would have totaled under 30 dollars and brought me and others back to shop. A place called Saks Fifth Avenue burned me on 30 dollars, what a joke. Why the hell would someone buy anything of real value from a place that stiff? This store has a terrible reputation in a field where reputation means everything. The people working there act like they came off Saks Fifth Avenue themselves and got stuck working in Portland, probably because they're terrible managers. I'm not sure how long the store has been around but I imagine they can't last much longer being surrounded by Nordstrom, who isn't afraid to keep their customers happy. If you want a cheap find it's here, but check it top to bottom before you buy it. Stay away from suits, shoes, jewelry, and anything over 100 dollars really; as they have no intentions of making you happy once you leave. I intend to pour used motor oil on the back of my shirt to even out the staining. Maybe if the whole back is black they will consider it "resalable condition" read more

I love bargains and OFF 5th is my place to get some nice suits for dirt cheap. Although they may not have all the goodies that Saks Fifth Ave or Bloomingdales have in their stores, you can find some awesome business shirts, ties, and suits here. It's still pricy but definitely much more affordable especially in a community that craves on deals like Portland. read more

Be warned, if you buy something at Off 5th and it breaks, falls apart or turns out to be poor quality then be prepared to eat it. I recently purchased a pair of designer shoes for over $400 that started to fall apart after one use. I took it back to the store 3 days after I purchased it and was told that I could not get a replacement pair, nor would they pay to repair the ones I had, and I was unable to get a refund. One of the managers even accused me of causing the damage to my shoe, even though it was happening on the same side of both shoes and was obviously a design flaw. It's not worth the "deal" if it breaks. I'd rather take my business to Nordstrom Rack if I'm looking for a good deal, GREAT service and a fair return policy. read more
