This is another place I am hesitant to let out of my secret shopping destination repertoire, but I think you need to know about it. As Joy mentioned, there are some kick ass deals on sample size (6-6.5, and sometimes a dapple of size 7s too) designer shoes and there are occasionally clothes that I like too. I have to say, it can be very hit or miss. There is a whole room, albeit a small one, filled with shoes but sometimes it's all a bunch of stuff I don't like. That doesn't mean you won't find a gem or two. Also, with the clothes, to be honest the selection is usually more suitable to my mom's taste than mine, but they get some quality young people designers in there too. I would definitely add this place as a stop on your trip to DSW and Bridgeport. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to shop! Sales people are all very friendly and helpful. Some of my favorite and most unique shoes have come from this store, although you may be out of luck if you wear a larger size. They have sales going almost all the time and while it does have an older/middle aged vibe to it, they carry some more up to date brands like Roxy. They carry classic style pieces, seasonal wardrobe items, and all at fairly reasonable prices. read more

Barbara Johnsons is my go to for one of a kind outfits. I live out of town now, but it is a must stop when I do come to town. Has lots os variety, excellent quality, and prices unbeatable. This place just seems odd. They claim to have "designer samples" but I didn't see any brands that I recognized aside from some Ugg slippers and r prices didn't seem that great. Seems geared toward more of a senior citizen style. They were friendly enough, it just wasn't for me. read more

Visited this tiny shop in a strip mall, looking for good deals on clothes for the women in my life. Came in with family in tow... wife, teenage daughter, daughters boyfriend, our six-year-old-daughter, and our three-year-old son. We had cash and were ready to spend some of it. The initial impression was a stuffy venue, feigning to be classy, and filled with slightly-aged but highly-fashionable attire (think a second hand store for wealthy Cougars). It's a well organized place, with all of the name brands kept together, and all of the shoes being color-coordinated. There are some strange desks in the back painted with clutter, and open palettes of office supplies covering the back walls (which is highly out of place, but I can live with that). Also, there was a blurb scrawled on a white board near the back of the building (in the employee only zone), which states "Email of the Week: Ladies, do not use the word 'stuff' when referring to our fabulous products--The Management", which should paint a good picture of the type of place this is. It would be a good treasure trove for a certain aging-hipster demographic, or young adults looking for that vintage look, however the positive aspects are offset by the atrocious customer service. My wife and I are in our early-thirties, but she (especially) looks like a teenager herself (she gets carded when buying lighters). From their (the employees) perspective, I imagine they saw a pack of young hoodlums about to rampage through the storefront and tarry off with fistfuls of their precious over-priced loot. So they sic a bubbly but wary employee on us to literally hound our shadows the whole time, making sure we weren't going to start looting and plundering on their watch. The manager, an aging blonde woman trying to look young-and-trendy, kept watch from the register, casting snide glances in our direction from time to time. As any parent knows, kids will be kids, and constraining them completely is not always possible (some antics are and should be fault-tolerated automatically). They are running and playing, looking at merchandise (my six-year-old daughter is VERY excited about the designer hats and the Roxy for kids clothes). Our teenagers are just talking amongst themselves and browsing quietly, out of site in the shoe-racks. I overhear the ancient blonde woman, as she glowers at our little-ones, and states to a cohort, "I don't want those kids running around in here... I don't want them in here touching anything. Go do something about it!" To which her associate does, approaching our kids and furtively asking them not to play around the clothes because the racks could fall on them. I chastise the little ones, and scoop up my son, heading for the door with him over my shoulder to take him out to the car, so my wife and the others could finish shopping in peace. He engages terrible threes mode, and kicks and screams the whole way out. I look around as I'm leaving and am confronted exclusively with a sea of died-blonde heads in haggard faces, shaking from side-to-side amidst pretentious scowls and eyes narrowed in judgment. The sense of unwelcome I felt on first entering was palpable, but reached a thickness you could butter bread with by the end. My wife and the others emerged, shaken up by the experience, which continued after I left when the old blonde manager was rude to them during check out. We ended up spending $127.00, but that is the first and last taste of our honey they will ever receive. Because we looked young, had kids with us, and are wearing pop-culture clothes (I was wearing a Tesla themed shirt from "Shirt Woot" and a black fedora hat), they treated us and (especially our little ones) like we were plague vectors. We aren't wearing Coach shoes and carrying Prada bags. I'm a programmer at a major tech company (locally) and make excellent money, however I am used to being written off as a "mere peasant" because I like quirky t-shirts, blue jeans, and have long hair. But this type of treatment from paying customers is obscene. Some people have families and not everyone of value wears Abercrombie and Fitch hoodies with Tommy Hilfiger sunglasses... this is not a store I would recommend to anyone that has a shred of dignity or an ounce of self-esteem. Maybe if being involved in a real-life staging of the Devil Wears Prada sounds appealing, this highfaluting henhouse will be a dream come true! read more

I enjoyed the customer service. They had a pair of shoes I liked, unfortunately not in my size. Glenna took my contact info and said she would check and see if they have them available in my size. I did not expect a call back. Two days later she called to tell me they could not find the shoes I liked in my size. However, she did find five other shoes that were similar and would hold for me until I could come see them, well for two days. I went in and my five year old had to accompany me. I did not feel judged for bringing my child or feel they treated me any less. They are attentive to their shoppers probably to deter theft and display their availability incase shoppers have any questions or need assistance. Shannon read more

Unique saleman sample store. Limited sizes, but oh the selection is wonderful. If you wear a woman's shoe size 6-6.5 this store is nirvana. I don''t think they can't advertise, but I can, they have a favorite handbag manufacturer's shoes for usually under $30. My favorite clothing brand is Sigrid Olsen, and I sometimes find real buys on Royal Robbins and Cynthia Maxx. Have also bought some wonderful swimsuits. Plus lots of Columbia Sportswear samples (men's size Large). You just have to be willing to shop and check out the racks, or put yourself into the capable hands of the knowledgeable staff. read more

This is a great store. It's fun to go in and look at the latest designers that are putting out samples there. Occasionally I can find shoes in my size, but if you are a shoe size 6 or a size 7 you've won the jackpot when you go to Barbara Johnson's. They have the most beautiful shoes in the sizes, as samples from amazing designer groups. They're a lot of fun things to see in the store and it is conveniently located at Martinazzi Square in Tualatin. I have bought clothes for myself as well as for my brothers, and other people at the store. They carry some wonderful Brands that are hard to find other places and are super high-quality. If you are a size 6 or size 8 pant size, you will find really beautiful and tailored clothes to fit you at the store. They also have bogo deals and opportunities to win at the store. Since they moved to the new location it has reallly gone down hill. Not to mention they have raised their prices. Some of the clothing looks old and shop worn, but is suppose to be new. I've been a loyal customer for 8 years... After my last visit a week ago I will NOT be back. I felt like I was being followed by secret service agents dressed in drag. The manager could not bring herself to speak to me or look at me in the eye while ringing up. I spent $8 and how I felt after I left, I regret spending that much. This place is MORE than OK. The quality of the clothes, jewelry, accessories, etc. is top notch. Sample sales, also includes smaller type shoes. Designer kids, women's and some men's clothes. Fun & casual stuff, classy business wear, expensive designer wear for day or evening, and classy outdoor wear. All ages who fit in very small to average sizes can find beautifully made clothes, and designer labels, at a fraction of the retail price. Best kept secret in town!! read more

The owner/manager seems not to be fond of young adults, nor does she like children. She did not greet us when we walked in. She sent over one of her minions to follow us way too closely throughout the whole store. She then made a comment to one of her other minions (while in hearing distance of me), telling her that she did not like my children running about and picking up her merchandise. She told her minion to take care of it. Yeah... My husband carried my son out of the store as she glared at him, shaking her head back and forth. Yup! The minion she sent to follow me originally kept insisting on taking my merchandise to the counter, so I didn't have to carry it. The merchandise looks like second hand merchandise and it's way over priced. She has desks towards the back in open view. It also appears to be her receiving area. Why it's not covered is beyond me... The owner/manager (blond, old, child-hating, young-adult disliking woman) did not say hello to me when I approached the register. She started ringing me up and muttered "all sales are final". She told me the amount (which was $127.00). I paid. She didn't even make any attempt to look at me, nor did she say thank you or have a nice day. She glowered at me and my family the whole time we were there, watching us with a suspicious glare like we were going to steal. Apparently, this store is for older, upper-crust women, who want to be ripped off, made to feel like they are shopping at a high-end department store, and like being abused verbally by an even older (and blond) looking woman with horrible (nonexistent) customer service skills. I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! EVER!!! I don't recommend it to the younger generation, parents of any age, or people who enjoy being treated with courtesy and respect. read more

You can definitely find some great deals on clothes, purses, jewelry. Unfortunately I have too big of feet to get the deals on shoes since they are sample sizes. I have gotten my last 3 purses here and plan to go back for my next one. They have awesome deals and awesome finds. read more

Barbara Johnson's is an Amazing Store!! They sell current designer samples at incredible prices. Lots of brands that I don't find anywhwere else in town. I can spend hours here (and I do!) and still not see everything they carry. The staff and management is awesome! So helpful and friendly. Women's sizes are small to medium. Men's sizes are Medium and Large. And now they have ladies shoes in all sizes! Highly recommended!! read more

Great place to shop with an amazing selection of clothes of all styles. I had the opposite experience from another Yelp reviewer, great attention from sales staff who really knew their clothing. While I don't fit into "sample" sizes, I was not made to feel like I shouldn't be shopping there, quite the contrary.
