So, what makes Michelle great at her job and stand out above the rest, she is a creative problem solver. She didn't just point me in the direction of the insoles, which there is a small wall full. The insoles were not cushiony, I really thought it was going to be a bust before Michelle came to save the day. I didn't need hard supportive insoles, I needed as she put it, to take up space. This also added cushion, which is what I wanted. I should add she remembered both my wife and I, and my wife's very unique shoes.... That's impressive. My shoes felt great and no longer slipped in the back. I will come back for any issues with fit, only because of Michelle. Instead, the employee gave me an attitude throughout the transaction. After scanning the box, she proceeded to thoroughly inspect the shoes and commented that they "could be the wrong shoes." I understand stores have return policies and need to verify merchandise, but there's a respectful way to do that without making a customer feel like they're being accused of trying to scam the store. I've returned items to other retailers, including Nordstrom, where employees perform any necessary checks professionally and courteously. This experience felt unnecessarily confrontational and left a bad impression. Customer service matters just as much as return policies.

Over the past several months, we had intended to exchange them, but life got in the way--whether it was forgetting the receipt or just being too busy. Yesterday (Sunday, July 13), we finally made it to the store. It was a very busy afternoon, and while I searched for parking, my girlfriend went inside. She was initially told by the customer service representative that the shoes could not be returned due to the time that had passed. She wasn't upset, just a bit disappointed--after all, she simply wanted to get the right size for me. As she was leaving the store, the store manager, Rob, approached her and asked if she had found what she was looking for. She explained the situation, and Rob immediately brought her back to the customer service counter, authorized the return, and even offered an updated style of shoe. Rob's actions turned a potentially disappointing experience into a perfect example of phenomenal customer service. The last couple times, they've been at the newer location, a much needed expansion and great store. Both times I've been assisted by Alex. At most stores these days, rather than an associate offering to help you, it seems like you have to snag an associate. Then, it takes them a while to find the shoes you want to try. They bring out a stack of boxes, and leave you to figure it all out. Not Alex. He's fantastic, actually helping you get into the shoes, quickly bringing out a better size, a different color. He gave advice and patiently brought out boxes. Both the store selection and the employees are exceptional.

The downside was that when I went back y wife wound up buying two pairs of shoes, including a Blundstone model that I'd never heard of after wearing them for over thirty years. I had been struggling for about a week to piece together a workable suit for an interview. I just couldn't find a jacket that worked, and I wasn't pleased with my tie choice. My pants also were an off color I wasn't happy about. So, last minute I dropped in here and wish I had made it my first stop days ago. I entered the front and was warmly greeted (Dawn). She asked about why I was there and the reason for the clothing. From there I was handed off to Melinda who worked her magic on me.
