We visited sails for the 2nd time this past week. The service was wonderful, the food was excellent. One complaint. Our 7 year old daughter was with us and ordered pasta and butter and a piece of chocolate cake. When we went last time, they had charged appropriately for this exact order, but this time they started a new kids tasting menu and charged 70 dollars and then obviously tax and tip on top. My 2 older children ate off the adult side even though they could've eaten the kids, I have no problem with paying for them bc they received what we ordered, but 70dollars + tax & tip for a 7 year old to eat pasta and butter is not good business in my opinion and I think they should rethink this for the future as it left a bad taste in my mouth and questioning if I would return. read more

What an INCREDIBLE meal. Wow just wow. Started off with a very extensive wine and bubbles list. (They also allow you to bring in your own wine and just pay corking fee.) I decided to go with the four course prixe fixe menu. Started off with the crab and avocado for course number 1. Such a generous portion of both, and boy was it fresh. Next was lobster ravioli, and honestly no words. Lobster was so fresh and the foam on the ravioli was awesome. For number 3 I went with the scallops, and you guessed it... OUTSTANDING. Paired with a truffle rice I just couldn't stop eating. It was such an elegant meal and service was incredible. Lastly chose the chocolate hazelnut gateau. Again didn't disappoint. I originally posted my review on the Naples Restaurant Word of Mouth Facebook group and several people told me I should add it to Yelp. So I hate to be the bad guy here but we just had a terrible experience at Sails. The brunch comes in courses, it's a minimum of three (appetizer, main dish and dessert) but technically unlimited. We were on our second course and my boyfriend had ordered the French toast. The portion is extremely large so he asked for a half portion. They bring it out and he is unable to finish even the half portion. He ate what he could and sat it to the side of the table. One of the girls working came out to clear the table and she told him he wasn't allowed to order another dish until he finished the French toast. I laughed because I thought she was joking but she was serious. The waitress then arrived and reiterated the statement and added that if he didn't like it he could send it back. He said no I love the French toast I just can't finish it, not even the half portion. I had already ordered the tagliatelle so she said that would be out shortly and my boyfriend just ordered another mimosa since he wasn't allowed to order dessert. I was a annoyed so I went to the front host that usually recognizes us when we come in and asked her if it was normal because my boyfriend was now uncomfortable and ready to leave and she apologized and said it was a new policy due to others taking advantage of the unlimited option. I told her we come all the time and usually only order three dishes, and he was only on his second dish and ordered a half portion just because he knew how big it was. I went to sit down and the waitress came over to apologize and I told her it wasn't her fault and to just bring the check please. So she said no problem and my tagliatelle would be out shortly. Five minutes later she brought the check and I went ahead and paid, she brought my change and still no tagliatelle for me. I waited a little longer and ended up leaving with a bad taste in my mouth considering we spent $150 + tip for two dishes, terrible service and to be treated like children regarding finishing his french toast. Had we been several courses in it maybe would have been more understandable but it was the second course. We go all the time, we never take advantage of the unlimited, we have never stayed over two hours and we always tip generously. I'm a little surprised the manager never came to the table even though he makes a point to stop and check on us and say hello to my daughter, Violet, every time we are there. We go nearly every weekend for brunch and have been recommending it to everyone we know so it's frustrating that we don't want to return. We eat out around Naples several days a week and I'm not usually one to post a bad review, especially during covid, but I think it's important that everyone knows their new policy before returning. (Half portion of French toast pictured) 8/11/20 Several of you have said I should have asked for the manager but my boyfriend already felt awkward enough that I had talked to the hostess regarding the situation. In my opinion she should have sent a manager right over but instead the waitress arrived to apologize. She said the restaurant appreciated our patronage and that everyone there loved seeing my daughter so she hoped we would come back (I had told the hostess we likely wouldn't be returning). She also asked if she could send "something special" to the table to make up for it and my boyfriend quickly said no thank you (he 100% didn't want any extra attention put on us) and she then went on to say she was a cheerleader in high school and she would do a back flip to make us happy if she could. In my opinion the manager likely already knew the situation and sent her over to fix it. While I appreciated her trying, the whole thing was very cringeworthy and we really just wanted to leave. Started off at the bar and it was awesome! Moved to our table for a party of eight. My wife and I split a whole snapper, it was fishy - NOT Fresh! Four of our party had the fish cooked in salt and it came out raw. Another guest had a Dorad cooked in salt and they filleted it tableside --- tons of bones, you sometimes have a few but this was crazy! Not One decent entree.l! Our server was great and tried his best for service recovery. Had seven bottles of wine. We love to pair great wine collectibles with great food and are accustomed to fine wine service and corkage fees. However, being there before, and had one bottle of wine with a $25 cork fee we assumed that was the fee per bottle. To our surprise they have a progressive corkage fee that is not on the menu. $25 - 1st bottle, $45 - 2nd, $75 - 3rd then $100 per bottle!!! This restaurant is fantastic!! Probably one of my favorites in Naples. Our server, Ashley was so knowledgeable and gave wonderful recommendations. My Husband and I started out with two martinis. While we normally enjoy Tito's vodka, Ashley recommended a Beluga vodka and it did not disappoint. For appetizers we had the crab & avocado and the Australian Bug. They were both delicious. Perfect portions and very flavorful. For dinner we shared the hog fish and the tagliatelle. They were both excellent. Ashley explained that the chef uses duck fat instead of butter when making the pasta, which explains why it was so great. I have found many meals in Naples to be ok. Nothing to write home about. A lot of chains and boring steaks...Sails, however, was great. Came here to celebrate my recent engagement with some Florida residing family members. The regular menu was great, but the daily fish selection is the money. My fiancé and I shared a whole black cod and scallops, amazing. My aunt and her wife had steak and scallops. Everyone was pleased. Decor, refreshing. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. First time at Sails and we will be back! It's more fancy than most other restaurants on 5th Ave. On the pricier side but got attentive service and very fresh seafood. The cocktails were delicious (La Bonne vie). For starters, we had the scallop carpaccio, crab first course, and grilled octopus. I was surprised the scallop carpaccio had a decent amount of uni. The grilled octopus were tender (others at the table had been to Sails before and ordered this same dish three times). Entrees were well portioned. The scallops were really big! The fish dishes (black bass and branzino) were very fresh. I had the seafood cookpot - slightly disappointed because it didn't have any mussels/clams and replaced it w scallops and shrimp without telling me. Went there for Saturday brunch while visiting Naples . Nice place great service food was very good: Pre fixed menu you choose from have to finish entire dish before getting a new one . Everything tasted good so that wasn't a problem: if you bring a child and they do not consume alcohol still pay the same price ( whatever the pre fixed menu price was ) overall having visited that area for the 3rd time best restaurant we've been to so far so do recommend it read more

Make sure you have last night's leftovers in your fridge or are prepared to order take out when you get home! We thought we had seen small portion sizes before but this takes the prize! We had the fillet...(the size of a golf ball), the linquine....(2 spoonfuls), and some side vegetables....1/2 cup. The manager must have seen the look on our faces and came over to explain the worldy travels of the owner in search of the highest quality ingredients in the world...right down to the imported marble counter at the bar. WELL...there is no doubt that the exhorbitant prices and miniature portions must be funding the owner's travel budget. The physical space is very sophisticated....mostly white. However, for an establishment of this size to have one single restroom for guests (who have to squeeze by a very talented musican) in the corner of a busy bar is ridiculous. There were eight of us in our party. There was minimal conversation at the table when the food arrived. No one wanted to openly express their shock at how little food was on everyone's plate. Once one of us did then the conversation exploded in agreement!! The evening picked up from there but no one ordered more drinks or dessert and laughed about where to go for pizza afterward! All-in-all, we would say this is a very pretentious and over-priced establshment likely designed for business people with a generous expense account. We won't be back. read more

From the moment we were greeted at Sails for Sunday brunch, we were treated like royalty. While waiting a few minutes for our table, the incredible brunch experience began outside the front entrance with a wide array of assorted cocktails to enjoy. This was not our first time here and we prefer to sit indoors for brunch to fully enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. It is simply decorated in a chic color palette. The food is always delicious and between all of us, we have pretty much tried all of the course selections. Some standouts we had this time around were the cheese soufflé, oysters, salmon, tuna (always a favorite), lasagna, eggs Benedict, the Joey steak sandwich, quiche, tortellini, too many to go on. Two courses that are a must try are the French toast and the chocolate soufflé. All the international servers go above and beyond to make your time here an epic experience. El Cid took care of us from start to finish and was a pleasure. If you're looking for an over the top culinary experience, visit Sails for brunch. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wow. Just wow! In town for a few days and our friend took us there as a treat on our last day. What an awesome concept. Pay a flat fee, drink all you want and eat amazing food. What could go wrong?! I really don't know how to start. Dining out and cooking are things my wife and I love to do, and when we dine out, we don't really go looking for what's wrong with a place, but we can't help but to find even the slightest "if only they..." moments because it's just human nature to find faults. We're always positive and understand why some restaurants may have some minor shortcomings, and we rarely hold such shortcomings against them. The point is, there was literally NOTHING we could find wrong with this place. We've been to a few Michelin-starred restaurants and this place came close to some of them when it came to the flavor of the food (Michelin-starred restaurants have unreal presentations compared to ANY restaurant although this place had great presentations compared to 95% of all restaurants), but the service was literally on par or better than any restaurant we've ever been to. There was no moment in which we felt we needed something and were waiting, nor was there any point in which we felt that we were getting too much attention (a rare occurrence but happens sometimes nonetheless). It was just perfect! We're not locals, but we felt welcomed and given a real reason to come back by our server (Ashley). She gave us a reason not only to come back to this restaurant, but also to come back to Naples. Between the amazing menu and the even more amazing suggestions by the knowledgeable and caring servers, I can't imagine there being a better restaurant in the area. We can't wait to visit this place again, so if you're thinking about coming to Sails, don't think twice about it. Just do it! read more

Noticed gecco droppings all over the wall behind me. Looked at least a few days old. Matt was very nice (server). Food was meh. Not to mention good service when you're spending a lot of money vs. horrible service when you want a glass of wine and an appetizer. I ordered the shrimp appetizer and I got four little pieces of rubber on a plate with some sort of sauce. If you're a tourist and are wowed by mediocrity, this is the place for you. If you're a serious foodie who doesn't mind paying prices like these for spectacular food, I'd go somewhere else. read more

I was here once before and it was fantastic- not last night. The bill was over $1000 for three of us - for some reason they included a 20% tip. I asked if we were in South Beach where it's a practice. We felt the waitress pushed all the most expensive items on us. Wine $300, some kind of large fish at $65/lb. Said fish was terrible - it was mushy and tasteless! The apps, octopus, clams and muscle were good but very small portions. I might give it one more try when I'm back but will need to be careful so I'm not gouged!! read more

Great restaurant. Excellent service. We tried Sails at the recommendation of a friend living in Naples. We were able to select a nice Red Snapper that was on ice in the Fresh fish room. My wife and I shared the 2.25 pound Snapper cooked on a Cherry Wood board and it was delicious. The bartenders were also very good with a nice selection of specialty cocktails. I always think about going here for dinner but it never seems super busy in comparison to all other restaurants on 5th during season. Well glad we did dine here and it was just a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our waiter was lively and attentive and informative without being too on tip of us. Most importantly the food was amazing! We had it all, it was a like a culinary experience and I ordered the prix fixe menu. Beef tartare, hamachi crudo, the Dorade fish, chocolate souffle and more was all delicious! They even bring you over to pick out your fresh fish if thats what you choose for dinner. Expected a lot from this restaurant, unfortunately the hard up-sell attempt by the server turned us off. Maybe it's just me, but having a server tell us that he will tell us what to order (in an overly-charming tone) is a bit aggressive and somewhat condescending. When he then proceeded to show us an array of fish and beef before even taking a drink order shows a lack of customer awareness. (It just occurred to me that we were purposefully walked past the fish by the hostess when taken to our outside seats - another part of the sale perhaps?) Speaking about the parade of raw food; I wonder if showing people what a Turbot looks like or highlighting the fat content of a chunk of beef really drives sales? (And for the record, the term you want is marbling, not caramelizing, when describing meat.) Add in an undercooked $46 risotto (should have been more creamy than crunchy) and you get three stars at best. The service was ok, but I've definitely seen better (Halls in Charleston is the gold standard, and locally Trulucks is excellent). This may be petty, but the team did not even bother to ensure that the water glasses remained topped-off or inquire about another drink when I finished mine (most of the party had wine, two of us did not.). Saturday/Sunday brunch is probably one of the best dinning experiences we have ever had. As you check in you are greeted by an incredibly friendly gentleman offering champagne and Bloody Mary's. As you are escorted to you table every staff member you come in contact acknowledges you with a big smile. The menu is perfect with a nice variety of small servings. It's hard to select a favorite but I would recommend finishing your brunch with the French toast. read more
