I was skeptical enjoying dinner here given the average 3.5 stars by my fellow yelpers and scoped out the menu in advance to avoid making dinner the equivalent of a mortgage payment... I was pleasantly surprised at how Sails differentiated themselves by offering superior service, sourcing fish from the Med and meats from Australia (I still do think the seafood from the gulf and American or Japanese beef is superior to Australian). We received a warm welcome on a Monday night and was seated outside. We walked past the seafood counter and took a glimpse of the fresh fish/shrimp/crab and the price/lb. Started with cocktails and they were carefully crafted and so delicious. Now... the show and dance of seafood parade and the up-selling. Very informative and I ended selecting the Grilled Dorade (this was ok. I still prefer black cod or Chilean sea bass). The bread service offered a choice of Baguette, Wheat bread and Asiago bread. Asiago is the way to go. I also asked for butter even though olive oil was recommended. I tried both and still preferred their softened butter. We split the tomato salt salad to start and this was packed with flavor with heirloom tomatoes and Feta cheese from France... so good... I passed on the soufflé and selected the hazelnut gateaux and this was small but rich with chocolate-y/nutty flavor.... amazing. Can't wait to try the scallops and Truffle rice next time! read more

Wow! This restaurant really put wind in our sails! Located on the bustling 5th Ave S in Naples, Sails restaurant is a premier spot for steak and seafood fare. From the moment we walked in, we knew this was going to be a first class experience. The staff was extremely polite and took care of us. Our waitress was patient with us in explaining the menu and giving us a tour of the restaurant, highlighting their seafood market and their wine room. Now let's get to the food.. Wow! The seafood we had was incredibly fresh and they took care to make sure the seafood tower for one could be shared three ways. The pork belly was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our octopus was cooked to perfection and our lobster ravioli? Amazing, with a delicious chunk of lobster with each. The star of the show was the bone in, wagyu ribeye. Holy moly was it delicious and they did a great job to cook it to a perfect medium rare. Finally, you need to try their focaccia!! It was the most delicious bread I've ever had, well, anywhere! Had dinner last night for the first time at Sails. There was a major storm due to a tropical depression with heavy rain and high wind. Nevertheless we wanted to sit outside due to Covid, so we called ahead and were reassured that their awning would protect us from the elements. And it did! It was actually kind of fun to dine outside with the storm bearing down. Our server had a great sense of humor and added to the pleasure of our evening. He brought a large tray of fish to the table to show us the fresh catches of the day, which included some specialties you can only get in the area, like hogfish (it's better than it sounds). We opted for the octopus and the crab and avocado to start, and the whole Mediterranean branzino and lobster ravioli for entrees. Everything was 5* delicious and beautifully presented. We especially liked the crab with avocado which was a whole avocado that had been stuffed with pinky toe crab. The wine list is extensive but on the pricy side. Overall it's a great special occasion restaurant but it's so good we'll go any day of the week! read more

We've been to Sails for probably 10 times.Overall food quality and flavor are very good, service is very good- that's the part we went back. But honestly for me I never had a 100% happy experience there. Food is fresh and good. But for all you can eat brunch. Food quality and service is not stable. We order clams and mussels a few times in our 2 brunches, taste very different every time. Same thing happens to pork belly at the brunch. Guess they're too busy and couldn't keep the same level every time. The price for Sails is at a $$$/person level. So I would think Sails is aiming at a more of fine dining experience than casual dining. Then besides food and service, seatings, lightening, noise level, serving wares are all part of it. Their food and service is very good as a fine dining standard, however everything else is pretty off. Every time at the end I felt kinda cranky because my experience overall is not comfortable. Noise level-- very very very loud. All the tables are cramped together, and there's very loud live music. I felt headache every time after eating there and throat hurts because had to talk very loudly to my husband or to our server. And their kitchen is an open kitchen, omg, loudness on loudness. Bugs and mosquitoes in side- it's kinda rare a fine restaurant still have bugs inside. And I got bitten which made my experience worse Outdoor seatings- also all cramped together and won't stay in shade the whole time. Husband got very bad sun burnt on brunch. We went to sails for the sunset menu (offered between 4:30-5:15 on Monday- Thursday) and it was fabulous! The food was amazing- loved the beef tartare, tuna tartare, and tomato salad for apps, loved the lobster ravioli and white fish entrees, and enjoyed the toffee and Montenegro desert! Would recommend all of those dishes! The ambiance was amazing- the room was beautiful, has a nice big circle bar that you can eat at, and there was a live saxophone player. We went to Sails tonight on 5th Avenue. It did not disappoint. First I must state that it is pricey, but for a special occasion, it is certainly top tier. The service was top notch, they share gratuities and it shows, all food arrived together with three servers. The staff knows their menu. They were so accommodating to food allergies, bringing a special free pre appetizer and GF bread for one guest in our party. The staff made suggestions when asked and the artichoke salad was wonderful. We enjoyed the Dover sole, the Dorade fish and the Lobster ravioli. All were wonderfully displayed and tastey. I'm going to be accused of working there or being a shill. But that's fine. Sails deserves my praise. I returned for Sails brunch and its not properly described as a brunch. It is a fine dining experience cloaked in unlimited drinks and dishes. And you might think service would suffer in an unlimited environment. Nope. I have certainly never experienced a brunch of this level. And yes I have had the Wynn brunch in Vegas and many others around the world. This is just top to bottom a great experience. From when you arrive and perhaps are greeted by Philip, a strapping but accommodating gentleman with a perfect pour of champagne to start your experience while you wait for your reservation to be retrieved. And then we were whisked back to our table with beautiful live music that transports you to Nice or St. Tropez. And then you can begin feasting and drinking from a wonderful assortment of brunch drinks - champagne, mimosa, bloody mary, blood maria with tequila and of course a homemade bloody mary mix that has the perfect spike of horseradish. I had a riff on an old fashioned (also included) that was delicious. These are certainly not drinks you would normally be offered in an unlimited brunch situation. Andrea was our waitress and could not have been better. She was kind, funny, knowledgeable about the menu and preparations, and helpful whenever it was needed. She also was so attentive whether it was a napkin on the table or a drink getting low, or dishes being finished. We learned partway through the meal she is a companion of Elsid! He guided our first meal impeccably. There is no question these two will be a power couple in fine dining. And then you tuck into the menu and cant believe all of this is on offer for an unlimited brunch. Yes the unparalleled tuna tartare is there. Yes the pappardelle is there. Yes most of the smash hits from the main menu are there. My mother actually did not eat a proper dinner the night before to save up for this meal. I'll keep these brief as I have reviewed most of them before, but please note I am rating these dishes on a fine dining scale not an unlimited brunch scale. Otherwise they would all be off the charts: Oysters: (5/5) Just really well shucked and cleaned oysters. The apple mustard and green tea mignonette were solid departures from classic accompaniments. Crab and Avocado: (4/5) A nice, smooth, clean dish. I think they could do more here. Tuna Tartare: (5/5) Slightly less mindblowing than our first time, but I chalk that to the unlimited - still a total winner. Mussels: (5/5) Just when you thought you have had every good tomato-based mussel dish there is. OMG this is incredible. It was a star of the meal. Soon after it was delivered a few servers came around encouraging us to get more bread to enjoy the broth. They were right. This is like the best tomato soup you have ever had and perfect plump mussels. Pappardelle: (5/5) The lamb sugo is divine. Again its somehow delivered quickly in an unlimited environment. Just a delicious comforting dish. Tiger Prawn Orzo: (4/5) A nice dish. The prawn was huge and perfectly done and the orzo had great savory flavor. Lamb Sandwich: (5/5) We were really full when this arrived. But it was fantastic. I love that they are putting whimsical things like this on the menu simply because they are delicious. Just everything you want in a sandwich. Succulent lamb. That perfect focaccia, great tzatziki etc. Wood grilled branzino: (2.5/5) This was the only miss of the day. It was fishy. The vegetables were fishy. The skin was soggy. Just a miss. Wagyu: (5/5) This was also towards the end of the meal when we had enjoyed so many great dishes. It was an add-on upcharge. But it still stood out as incredible. I have had American wagyu, Kobe in Japan, Australian wagyu and so forth. This was fantastic and I do think good value for what we enjoyed. Thats my long-winded review. I think this place and these folks that work there deserve a long-winded review. I have not experienced any place like Sails in Southwest Florida. Honestly, I don't know from where to start. Personally, visiting here I consider in the best 3 dining experiences in my life. Since the very beginning and warm welcome from the lady at the front door, enjoying well made cocktail at the bar (Bojana was super nice, she had smile on her face at all times and her service was friendly but professional which I love), to the beautifully arranged tables, amazing wine glasses, out of this world food all the way to the very knowledgeable and and very, very good server Tijana (she's a sweetheart) and finally, hats off to mastermind of this place, owner Veljko. This 3 person together with all the other hard working crew made our night really memorable. I still can't decide which of the following I enjoyed more - atmosphere, food, service, attention to details, cleanliness of the restaurant or the super relaxing saxophone music played by artist that night. All together left me nothing but speechless. I could write about this place until tomorrow but I'll stop here, however, if your foot step on the Naples soil do yourself a favor - do not miss a chance to dine here. You'll regret if you miss it. We went to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. From the greeting at the door to the dessert and send off, it was simply a perfect evening. We had the four course option. Started with the hamchi crudo and oysters. Those were the best oysters I've had in a while. The bread served via a bread service was heavenly. We had the tomato salad and the lobster arugula salad next, both were delicious as well. We split the linguine which was a fun twist between Asian and Italian with clams. For our entrees, he had the tuna and I had the wagyu ribeye. For dessert, we split the soufflé. We had an espresso martini and a dessert wine to end the meal. Our server, Laura was perfect. We went to the brunch and were greeted with drinks upon check in. Nice touch. The restaurant is very nice but also relaxed looking if that makes sense. The server was on point the entire experience. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We went with a group of six so we all would share bites. It was a great bonding experience since we shared different dishes with each other. Made reservations for a special birthday dinner for my boyfriend, to start with, we were left standing awkwardly at the door with no one to seat us for about 10 minutes. After being seated we had the four course pre fix menu, and almost everything on there was overwhelmed with the taste of salt or soy sauce, the linguine was definitely the worst. The food was excellent in quality and variety, the service impeccable and ambience outstanding. Oooh ooh my . We came to visit Naples for the first time from Massachusetts and went into Sails for the first time . We loved it so much that we made reservations day 2 . The grilled octopus for appetizer was phenomenal. The Mediterranean fish oooh my delicious. The potatoe purée to die for . And let me tell you about the peas with mushroom for sides . This fine dining restaurant which specializes in the freshest seafood (beautifully displayed on ice) & well aged beef was an absolute treat! We were overwhelmed by the level of attentiveness & the quality of the dishes. Having eaten in many high quality restaurants in NYC, Sails is on a par with any of them, including Jean Georges or Daniel. Everyone from the charming French hostess to the owners & servers could not have been more welcoming or kind. The wine list is exceptionally well curated with many hard to find bottles that are fairly priced. Dinner was a combo of the 4 course prix fixe & a la carte choices. Best of all were the Australian "Bugs", which are like a very tender, mini lobster. Everything from the exquisite tuna tartare, the lovely tomato salads, amazing grilled octopus to the lobster ravioli, wood fired bronzino & the filets were top notch. Artistically plated but not fussy, each bite was truly delicious. Desserts consisted of their famous chocolate soufflé, sticky toffee pudding & chocolate hazelnut cake with a feuilletine crunch. Spectacular. Gorgeous room (we were fortunate to have the large booth next to the wine cellar) & attention to detail (servers are obviously trained in European manner but are warm & not chilly ) along with superb meal combined for a memorable & delightful evening which we hope to replicate on our next trip to the Naples area. My husband and I decided to get out of Miami during MLK weekend. We wanted to drive so we decided on Naples, Florida. I mostly wanted to go to World Market which does not like the east coast of Florida (but that's another story!) Sails was the restaurant we went to on our last night we were in Naples and absolutely the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. First this is a Prix-fix menu only if you want a standard table (3 or 8 courses) . For the most part we don't do Prix-fix (to many food issues between us) but we found out they have a la carte menu at the bar! We were lucky to get someone's cancellation at 9pm! We walked from our hotel on Fifth and entered a amazing food experience. We were seated right away. The GM/Co-founder , Veljko came up to us after a few minutes and we had such a great conversation it was like we were having dinner at his home. The service was top notch. I mean clearly they take such good care of there employees. Warm , friendly very patient with us. We started by sharing the Truffle risotto with table side (ok bar side) shaved black truffles. Yes, my friends these were real deal important French black truffles. It was melt in your mouth risotto I could have eaten it all my self and ordered a second ! My husband had the Organic Chicken with Broccolini & Chicken Feta Sausage, excellent. I had the Dover sole with wood grilled Asparagus also excellent. They also serve you the most amazing selection of bread at least 4 different choices (rolls , focaccia etc) We do not usually order dessert but they had made to order (takes 20 minutes ) Soufflé. We choose the Grand mariner Soufflé with house made Vanilla ice cream. So good I was embarrassed how quick we gobbled it up! It brought back such wonderful memories of dinners out with my parents (both gone now) we loved sharing soufflés with them. The space it's self is also amazing. Most 5 star restaurants are formal even stuffy. Not Sails it has a cool , costal vibe that clearly was done by someone who had a clear vision. Amazing food, comfortable space but visually beautiful. I was very excited to eat here but it was kind of a let down. They have a set menu that's pretty pricey. I'm ok with that if the food is good. The portion was a size of a quarter when it came out. (Literally 1 scallop size of quarter). Our reservation on a Sunday night was 9pm and by 10:15p it was completely empty but our table. We didn't order dessert because you could tell they wanted to go home. I was in a group of 4. I hear the menu before this set menu was amazing and it WAS my friends favorite. I will give some compliments. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful. The service was good. My favorite part of the dinner was the purse holder at our table. lol. we were in Naples last week and based on reviews, was most excited to eat at Sails but it was the least favorite of all. The food was beautiful and everybody took pictures but few finished the small portion. I had the pork belly appetizer and it was tough and flavorless. Several of us had the lobster ravioli - it was 5ish small (about the size of a quarter) ravioli with a sliver of lobster with very little flavor. The best thing was the Dover Sole and the desserts were good as well as service. The best place we went by FAR was Trulock's - several people went back the following evening. read more
