Went to this restaurant for the first time last night and left with a very mixed bag of feelings about this place. On the positive note - food was fresh and absolutely delicious! The drinks, while a bit pricey for some of the options, were on point as well. The service was just OK - they were not at capacity by far and we had to wait quite a bit to order another round of drinks or pay the bill. The negative experience - apparently they do not clean the chairs. Please check before you sit down. My new dress is basically going into the trash because I sat in a pool of olive oil or who knows what else someone decided to wipe on that chair and the entire back side of my dress is one huge greasy stain!! Thank goodness the restaurant is located in a mall and I was able to go to a store to purchase a new outfit. We made our server aware of the situation but all we got was a quick apology and no other effort to make things right. Overall, just disappointed in how they handled this situation. I walked out of the place in a bad mood, lost a beautiful new dress and had to spend another $70 on a fresh outfit - sorry the food was good and all but not worth this aggravation. read more

Not my favorite decor in the world but extremely nice service! I never heard of this place till I read Martin N's review. He wrote the review in February I got here in November. For starters Mrs. K and I split a Caesar salad it would be a big salad by itself. I had the special of the night which was Veal Osso Buco. The veal was slow cooked for hours so tender and big flavor. The shank was served over mashed potatoes and served with carrot and greens. The Rigatoni Bolognese with a touch of Wagyu beef was perhaps one of the best dishes on the menu. I only had a taste but big flavor. The menu is not huge but there is enough on it to make you want to come back and try other dishes. I am thinking lamb shank next. :) read more

We had the great fortune of finding Amfora Mediterranean European Restaurant while on vacation in Ft. Myers. From the moment that we walked in, we felt welcomed by the hostess and I was impressed by the beautiful surroundings. We were promptly seated right across from the open kitchen area where they have two gorgeous ovens. The freshly baked bread and olive oil was delicious. I ordered the veal T-bone steak which was served with polenta and roasted vegetables. This dish was exquisite. My husband had a whole fish deboned table side and was served with risotto and tomatoes with olives, my husband loved it. We were told that all desserts are made from scratch, my husband ordered the tiramisu and I ordered the baklava, both were absolutely scrumptious. We've been to Amfora a few times. The last trip may be just that, our last trip to Amfora. It was a very slow night, so perhaps they were understaffed. My wife's filet was good, but not great. I know the mashed potatoes are a different type of potato, but they tasted as if they came out of a box. The salmon dinner, which I've had before, looked nothing like the photo on their website. The fish was very small, perhaps a bit overcooked, and the fresh sprout garnish was lackluster at best. read more

In the former Midici location next to Starbucks at the Coconut Point Mall, Amfora transformed from a Neapolitan Pizza into a high-end Mediterranean Grill. We've heard good things about Amfora and went for a test run. The manager and wait staff greeted us and seated promptly. Many patrons sited at the outside dining patio but we opted to stay indoor. Gone are the tree inside the restaurant from the Midici but now replaced with a smaller artificial tree with colorful reflexive light. The wine selection is good and we started with Merlot. I wanted grilled Octopus as an appetizer but it was nixed from my Sweet Heart as she heard that Braised Lamb Shank I wanted is in a sizeable portion. She went for Rigatoni Bolognese with Wagyu beef. The Braised Lamb Shank was huge and tasty from a Morocco Spicy, Ras el hanout, polenta, prunes and apricot. Equally fine was Rigatoni Bolognese. There was enough to take home! A table about 7 or 8 feet away enjoy their table side filleted Branzino. Sam did a fine job of filleting the fish as we were watching. For dessert we shared the Baklava with Gelato. The Baklava was flaky filled with pistachio nuts and light drizzle of honey. The Gelato was creamy and smooth. A great way to finish your meal. Staff are friendly, accommodating and professional made this overall excellent experience. The menu is not so big but carefully prepared. We can't wait to go back. read more

We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Amfora last night. The decor of the restaurant was very accommodating - they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waiter Jorge was very attentive and offered suggestions off the menu including their daily specials. Being Greek we started the evening with the Mediterranean Octopus - a great presentation and very tasty appetizer. I selected the seafood pappardella - linguini in a home made marinara sauce topped with scallops, shrimp, mussels and calamari. My first meal was so good that I ended up eating dinner at Amfora three nights in a row! All of the food was fresh and made in the restaurant. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. The interior is welcoming, clean, and elegant; soft lighting and music creates a splendid atmosphere to enjoy their wonderful food. My favorite dishes were the roasted salmon and crème brûlée. We have been to this fine restaurant many times over the past 6 months, and it has truly become a favorite of ours. It is a terrific place for both lunch and dinner, with ample dining both inside and out. A favorite of mine is the Calamari al Forno appetizer. It consists of 2 or 3 calamari steaks wrapping a tasty rice filling and served hot resting in home-made tomato sauce. This was our 1st time at Amfora, except for the 2500 miles we are away from it I hope each & every time we come to Ft Myers this will be our 1st place to eat. Although I forgot to take a photo the appetizer Grilled Octopus was tremendous, grilled to perfection & seasoned wonderfully. This place has amazing food. We ordered the octopus and the beef carpaccio for starters and the branzino, and the sea bass and veal osso buco from the specials menu as entrees. I wanted to checkout something different from the standard fares at Coconut Point. I ran across Amfora using my favorite yelp app. The ambiance was inviting. We were greeted and seated right away. Sever was wonderful, no complaints. We tried the butternut squash soup, osso buco, and whole dorado. The soup was rich and creamy - just heavenly. The veal was perfectly cooked and just slide off the bone, juicy and tender. The dorado was fillet at the table and the left overs were fantastic the next day. Very good food coming out of this place. It looks like they bought everything from medici when they took over so the inside is still top notch. I got the mushroom pasta and mushroom pizza. The pizza was very good and reminded me of medici. That's probably because they have the same ovens. It kind of makes me wonder if it still has the same owner but just changed names. We stopped in for some dessert the other night and it was very nice. The staff was friendly and it has been updated nicely from the last establishment. Tried this restaurant for the first time last night and was really impressed with the quality. The food and service was great, and we ordered almost everything from the specials menu. It was clear that they use great ingredients and care about what they put in-front of you. The ambiance was good with a nice open layout and clear view of the kitchen. It was a bit quiet for dinner time, with only a handful of tables taken on a Wednesday night. Only reason I note that is because the food was amazing, and normally you have to fight for a table at restaurants this good. We really hope that next time we come they have a 45 minute wait - Amfora deserves it. Price came out to 140 for 2, which considering we got a 60 dollar bottle of wine and lots of food was more than fair! read more

My disclaimer is that I did not get to eat here. We went to the restaurant at 8:50 on a Friday night. There were zero people in the restaurant and they were sweeping and lowering the shades. Now keep in mind that everywhere you look they close at 9:30. Why bother being open at all. Bottom line - it's annoying to go to a restaurant that advertises they are open and are closed when you get there. You are a RETAIL business with responsibility. The place looked great but I am out. Tried to eat here twice while visiting from out of town. Once they said that the online reservation I made didn't go through, so had to wait a long time while others were sat ahead of us and so we just left. Another time I tried to call for takeout - the guy put me on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up and tried to call back thinking he forgot about me, but when I tried to redial it said "all circuits busy". My husband and I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and were not disappointed. We ordered a bottle of wine and split a mezze platter as an appetizer. Lora talked us into trying the full grilled branzino which is SO out of my comfort zone but it was delicious. They cut and deboned it in front of us and it melted in your mouth. We also split a Greek salad which we really enjoyed. This was quite a bit of food for us but everything was wonderful. The atmosphere was nice both inside and out. Even though this is in a shopping mall it doesn't have the same feel as many of the other restaurants. Even though food was expensive, it was very obvious how fresh it was. Servers delivered our meals (wearing gloves) as soon as they were ready. Our waitress, Lora, and was fantastic. We could tell she takes a lot of pride in the restaurant and took the time to share the specials, recommend a bottle of wine and tell us her personal favorites. We shouldn't have waited so long to give this place a try but we will surely be back! read more

Visiting Bonita springs from miami for the weekend. decided the check out local restaurants instead of eating at the resort. We came here because the menu looked great. Everything was amazing. The octopus was extremely soft and served with an excellent excellent excellent balsamic reduction which I imagine was mixed with squid ink. The stuffed calamari was delicious. I had the duck which was amazing. We were here with a party of 10 (2 of which were kids). Th service was excellent, the food was excellent. Some of our party had pasta which is all made In house. We had 5 diff desserts which are also all made in house. Can't say enough how wonderful this place was. Must eat here. read more

If I could I would leave more than 5 stars. Heather was fabulous, friendly and extremely courteous. I would say that this restaurant is upscale considering some of the meal choices. But then again they have stone fired pizza that looked delicious. We ordered two glasses of their house wine, white and a red merlot. The white was buttery with floral hints and very smooth on the palate. The merlot had a nice body and was very smooth with no harshness on the palate. Both, very good wines that complemented the meals. As for our lunch order my wife had the Branzino accompanied by truffle risotto with capers and olives, delicious. I ordered the Chivalini Sausage that came with the broccoli rabe. This place is a must for a return visit. After speaking with Heather and telling her that we were having a house built in the area she pointed to another couple sitting behind us that had just purchased a home also. To our surprise she returned with four glasses of champagne for us and the other couple to toast our good fortunes. Very nice touch on her part. Will definitely come back.
