    Pork Vermicelli Bowl
    Karen G.

I ordered the pork vermicelli bowl with no peanuts. It's a really refreshing meal and the meat has lots of flavor - I enjoyed the crunchy cucumber and pickled onions. The service was quick and the waitress was very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is pretty small but there is plenty of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I love this restaurant. I went a few months ago when their hood was broken so they couldn't do soups. I was very excited this time to go and see that they were able to do soups again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant smelled like delicious pho broth when I walked in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had already ordered my banh mi sandwiches online before coming to pick them up, or I would've added an order of pho. I will be excited to come back for to try it next time. The traditional style banh mis are so flavorful and delicious. The veggies give the sandwich such a nice crunch. The staff here is always so kind and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is super small inside with only a few dine in tables, but it never seems to be too crowded inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It wouldn't be too hard to find a seat if you wanted.

Decided to try this modest place before a Monday night concert at the Roxian. It was a little under 15 mins away and we hadn't had Vietnamese in quite some time. You order at the counter and then take a seat with a number. We were the only ones there, but several others came in a bit after us. There was plenty of seating. It's super casual. We started with really tasty summer rolls. They were wrapped perfectly, and I love when you can taste the fresh herbs in a summer roll when you first bite into it. The shrimp option was quite good. The peanut sauce was ok. It did not seem homemade. We both ordered the vermicelli bowl. I ordered shrimp; my husband the pork. Mine was far better. I thought the pork was overcooked. We're spoiled though. A place back in DC pounds out the pork really thin and has the most amazing sauce on it. This place has small bits that are quite cooked. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, though, and had some kind of sauce on it. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the fish sauce mixture - quite flavorful. Overall, the meal was good and quite healthy. We were pleased and would consider returning if we have another concert over that way. It really is a good desert around the Roxian!

Saigon88 Express is right off of Interstate 79 down Steubenville Pike in a small strip mall. Plenty of parking which was nice. The food itself was just OK - the vegetables were all fresh, the flavor of the marinated pork was nice, and the portion size was plentiful. On the minus side, the noodles weren't cooked the best; in one part they were a large twisted clump. The jalapeño and red onion were chopped but not separated, leading me to pick them apart. Also they left two of the fatty end pieces of the pork in the bowl, which no one wants to eat. Service was ok. You pay before eating here. The gentleman who brought the food did offer choice between chopsticks or utensils, was very friendly and appreciative. After that though, no further check-ins from the staff, even to refill the water, which was empty about half way through the meal (FYI tipped 18% when I ordered). I could eat here again but not in a rush to do so.

I love Saigon 88 express. They have amazing pho but my most recent trying of their poke bowls are excellent

MY FAVORITE BOBA SPOT IN PITTSBURGH AREA!! There's also super delicious food, but I usually find myself here at least once every week or so for the boba and the cutest owners!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is small, and it's always busy! But not too busy that you find yourself waiting forever.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The workers are always hopping around very quickly doing everything to take care of everyone whether ordering they are ordering takeout, picking up online orders, or dining in! And pro tip: ALWAYS remember to get your boba card

I love ramen and unfortunately this place doesn't really do it for me. The noodles are spaghetti noodles and they were so mushy. The pork was fatty and doesn't melt in your mouth like regular chashu should. The seeds in the jalapeño they gave me was rotted. I'm sure this would be great for someone that has never tried really good ramen before. The restaurant is in a strip plaza thing and has a lot of parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is nothing spectacular that is worth noting about the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Even though the restaurant is very small, we had to wait a while to get our food. We weren't offered refills or checked on after we got our food.

2024 menu of appetizers, soups, maki rolls, poke, etc.

Saigon88 Express serves authentic Vietnamese and other Asian foods. The menu lists foods such as edamame, bulgogi fries, salads, banh-mi sandwiches, pho and ramen soups, red curry, maki rolls, poke bowls, boba teas, etcetera. Please see my attached photos for the menu in August 2024. My husband and I ate one lunch here. Three employees very promptly and very kindly served us, and they checked in with us throughout our meal. Here are my ratings for our foods and beverages: Traditional Dac Biet Banh Mi - 4 stars - This sandwich was a large size. It contained pork, which is not my favorite meat, but it did taste good. It also contained fresh vegetables, some of which were pickled, and some spices. Pho beef - 5 stars - My husband ate this soup, and he described it as "very good." It was a huge size, and it contained beef broth, rice noodles, bean sprouts, basil, onions, cilantro, and jalapenos. Crispy dumplings - 5 stars - My husband ate this appetizer. Eight dumplings had a crispy exterior and a flavorful filling of pork and vegetables. On the side was duck sauce. Spicy Alaskan roll - 4.5 stars - This sushi roll contained shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, and cucumber and was topped with baked salmon. I do not think that this sushi roll tasted spicy, but it was very good. Honey-dew fruit tea with popping boba - 4.5 stars - This fruit tea had a refreshing flavor. Passionfruit tea with popping boba - 5 stars - My husband enjoyed this fruit tea. I would love to return to try additional menu items such as the bulgogi fries, ramen, red curry, and milk teas.

Just enjoyed a really nice lunch at this subterranean cafe. The space probably has 12 or so tables…read more At about 2p, there were maybe 4 or 5 tables taken, so we had no problem grabbing a booth for our table of 3. A nice server walked us through the menu. The #2 "3 in one maxed noodles" under DRY NOODLE is "most popular," he said, and not very spicy - comprising of #s 1, 3, $ 4 on the dry noodle menu. They're flexible on your preferred spicy level. And #6 on the SOUP NOODLE menu is very popular & not spicy - braised pork rib noodles. Under SPICY NOODLE IN STONE POT - our server recommended #1 spicy beef soup with rice noodle in stone pot. For Appetizers - they were out of the cold skin noodles with peanut butter, but our server also recommended wonton (dumplings) in chili oil. OUR ORDER & ASSESSMENT: Appetizer - the wonton noodles are so good - so silky - and the semi-spicy sauce was really unique. Def would reorder that. Me: the 3 in one noodles - and this gigantic bowl was brimming with unique, flavorful ingredients that our server said I was to stir together. Baby bok choy, tomato chunks, slivered carrot, homemade wide noodles, small pieces of braised pork, scrambled egg, chili powder (not very spicy at all), and slivered scallions ---- a bowl of Chinese comfort food cooked to perfection. Total 5 star dish. Hubs: Spicy beef soup with rice noodle --- a *screaming hot* (temperature- not spice) stone pot filled to the brim with thin rice noodles (look like spaghetti), baby bok choy, and a zesty broth with a fairly good spicy kick. My hubs was just MEH on this dish. The broth - IMHO - just didn't have much depth of flavor. Sis-in-law: spicy max vegetable with rice noodles. Again - the wildly hot stone pot was brimming with homemade rice noodles, silky tofu, but there really weren't many veggies. Bok choy was about it. Odd, we thought. Again - the broth was just ok. All in all, it was a good, reasonably-priced lunch. I will DEF be back!

As a frequenter of the Asian restaurants on Forbes, I've been meaning to check out Tasty Noodle (formerly Jian's Kitchen) and right next to Panda supermarket. Walk downstairs and all the way at the end of the hallway (it's pretty easy to spot once you're down there) is Tasty Noodle. The place isn't large but has a couple of large and small tables, and my party of 3 was seated right away. I had been craving Chinese rice noodle soups ever since Dagu Noodles closed and this place HIT THE SPOT!! They have handmade pulled noodles used in either their chili oil noodles or noodle soups. Tons of options and protein choices. I opted for the sliced beef rice noodle soup, my friends opted for the lamb option and the braised beef noodle soup. All 3 of us were so full and happy with our meals! Service was attentive and kind. The owner was pointing out other best sellers he recommends at the end. I think I'd try the 3 treasures chili oil noodles next. They do accept both card and cash!

We ordered takeout this time, and the overall experience was great. We placed an order online, and everything was very neatly packaged and ready to go when expected. The food even travelled fairly well, such that it was still in good shape after traveling home. The restaurant itself is in a bit of a drab strip mall, but it's generally nicely decorated with colorful signage and a nicely kept interior. In terms of the food, the shrimp spinach dumplings were really nicely done, with lots of flavor and texture. My partner especially enjoyed the barbecue pork bao, which were nicely steamed with a very flavorful filling. The egg tart was good, but not really my thing. It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. They have a series of vegetarian appetizers, but that's not their focus. In terms of the overall experience, the staff is very friendly and on top of things. We ordered takeout, but the online ordering site didn't give us a confirmation of our order. A quick call to the restaurant confirmed that everything was received and already in process. In terms of the food, the wood ear mushrooms and tofu skins was a clear winner. The broccoli was fine, but I would have preferred Chinese broccoli or watercress if they were available. The five spiced eggplant was fine: steamed to a custard-like level of softness, then paired with a salty sauce and served cold. The dan dan noodles were probably best suited for a dine-in experience and didn't really travel well. My partner tells me that the stuffed pork buns were good, but the solid piece of pork in the center was less optimal than something shredded or thinned out with some vegetable matter. All told, this was a good experience. The vegetarian appetizers were good but not exceptional. The various noodle and bun dishes were very nicely crafted. The hand made noodles were a particularly nice touch, with a lot more flavor and texture than I would have ever expected. If I have any requests, it would be for more vegetable centric noodle options.
