The Pad Thai is A1 (is that what the cool kids say?) Alright, let me tell you about my love for Pad Thai. Pad Thai is what you eat when you've had a not-so-great day and want to feel a warm hug in your belly. Pad Thai is what you order when you just want a burst of flavor with yummy textures. Pad Thai is love. Pad Thai is life. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai. I was hesistant. And maybe you are too? You're probably thinking, "why would we listen to this girl who ordered Pad Thai at a Vietnamese restaurant"? You're right! But man oh man! The noodles were springy and not clumped together (like some "Thai" restaurants). The flavor was more than just peanut flavorings. It had levels. It had spice. And the tofu added another level of depth in terms of differing textures. I could go on forever. It's honestly one of the best Pad Thai dishes I've had in a while. Side Note: the portion is big enough to probably split between two people and get another dish to share. I saw the fried chicken coming out of the kitchen and it smelled amazing. So if you try that, let me know how it is! I hope to try some of their appetizers next time around. This place seems really promising and I hope it helps introduce some people to the world of Vietnamese cuisine (and randomly stumbling upon a secret Pad Thai gem). The restaurant is in the same plaza as Dollar Tree. So if you see that sign, you're in the right place. Also, A+ for parking. Parking in SJ is a nightmare, so it's so nice to be able to go out and eat at a restaurant without worrying about finding parking that isn't a trillion miles away. read more

KOBE BEEF PHO !!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! They have Kobe Beef Pho!! It was my first time trying a bowl of pho with this kind of beef and I must say it was the most delicious beef pho I ever had. Not pho tonight though one of my favorites is the combination with extra soft beef tendon (an acquired taste). The next best thing is what I would call a noodle salad: a nice bowl of rice vermicelli noodles served with veggies and grilled pork and comes with a side of fish sauce that you use as dressing. Once the fish sauce baptizes the bowl you mix it all and proceed to eat. It's gloriously delicious. read more

I gave this place a 3 star cause of the last experience. This time I came in they were friendly to me and the food was not bad at all. Overall the food was good. The service was not dad this time the girl that ring me up for my pick up was so friendly and nice. Last time I eat in was not a good experience. I had to wait to ask for water. I was trying to get someone attention and they ignored me. When I finally did I never got my water. That's why I haven't been back to eat in a while. Otherwise I would of gave them 4 star. Found the best Vietnamese restaurant in salínas. SERVICE was excellent, best of all was the tasty dishes. Imperial rolls, chicken wings, pho and Banh mi were all delicious. One of the best things about this restaurant is that their water is infused with lemon/lime. Right off the bat this tingles your senses and gets the flavor profiles built. I ordered a bowl of pho with rare steak and brisket which was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful, with a variety of fresh herbs. I don't normally find myself in establishments like these perhaps because I don't know what I am ordering. Of course I have to tap into my arsenal of Asian friends to come to my rescue and actually got to hang out with my Monterey Vietnamese ride or die. I absolutely LOVE family businesses and they were right on the money with that. My guess is the son was running the counter, probably another brother serving up the grub and perhaps Papa and Mama in the kitchen? Oh yes and future recipients of the business running around playing some catch me if you can game. Can't get anymore family than that! They all seemed very warm and accommodating for sure whilst not taking long to whip up my combo Pho bowl. It's light, healthy and filling. This restaurant is well known in the area and it's easy to see why. We're continuing our travels in our RV and eating as we go. On our way back from slo we decided to grab a bite and wanted Asian food so we decided to have Vietnamese. Ordered a pho and short rib rice, pho was good but short ribs were burnt and chewy. We told the waitress it was burnt and we couldn't even eat any of the ribs cuz it was so charred and tough. Guess what she said- she said it's like that and that's how he meat is. Wow! I was shocked to hear that. So we just finished the pho and left the short rib. Then when we asked for the bill they asked if we wanted to take the ribs home. Haha. We politely said no. We were expecting to pay for both items but they said they took off 50% off our bill. Guess that's better than paying full price but we shouldn't need to pay if we weren't even able to eat any of it. first of all, 10/10 customer service. the food came out fast and hot! we got two beef and brisket phos and they were delicious. we added some of their chili oil and other condiments to make it even better. the shrimp garlic noodles were very good too, they had a smokey taste and the noodles were thick and delicious. we order fried chicken wings as an appetizer but i wasn't a big fan of it. spring rolls were good. we also ordered a mango boba and it was a bit too sweet for my liking. overall, 9/10 experience and i will defined be going here again! read more

Today I was craving Pho. This is my usual place. I rave about it to everyone. I'm usually here once every two weeks. I'm not a big fan of take home pho, but have done this before. Today's Pho was horrible. I have had 3 bad experiences from all the times I have gone, but today takes the cake and I will no longer return. Broth - watery and very sugary (flavorless) Noodles- overcooked (mushy in seconds once sugary flavorless broth poured on). Vegetables- bean sprouts old brown and soured Thai basil - black and bruised Jalepeno - two very tiny slices Lemon - smashed, warm and slimy We asked for our usual condiment of hot oil because it is very spicy and can add a nice touch. It was only Clear oil poured over pepper flakes. WTF Egg Rolls were so small and undercooked we had to heat it in the microwave. They had a very pasty texture and slightly sour taste. WE TRIED TO SALVAGE THIS 30 DOLLAR MEAL. It ended up in the trash!!!! I did call to let them know how upset and dissatisfied I was with the freshness of the food. I really think they gave us Monday's leftovers because they are closed on Tuesday. No Excuses. I'm not made of money and try to support small businesses but two bowls of Pho Tai and 3 baby egg rolls for 30 dollars - Not Worth it. I did contact this business because I wanted a refund but they said no refund if food taken out of the door. Well Duh it's take out. Plus it's a 15 minute drive to even pick up. I would've been willing to drive back for my refund! Back in the days of dine in everything was fresh, tasty and great service. Saigon Noodles is legit! Definitely try this place! Ended up in the Natividad Med Center ICU for a few weeks after a bike accident and found this joint on Yelp. Had friends bring me the Pho which was amazing and better with each bowl! The special Ox Tail with ALL the goodies is truly "life giving"! The broth needs no enhancements it's so good. Best Pho broth I've tried in the Monterey / Salinas area. Broth is not overly salty, spiced, or heavy. Instead it's got a great richness and depth to it, meaty but not in that artificial flavoring sense. Great on a sick day. The garlic noodles with prawns are wonderful as well. Prawns are blackened but not overcooked. I bought it in delivery and the prawns were still soft, not rubbery. Wonderful light flavors. My only minor gripe is that I wonder if they read the "special instructions segment of their orders. I had specifically said I do not want noodles with my Pho, since I don't eat them and do not want their stock to go to waste. I also requested chili oil. Unfortunately I didn't get chili oil (which was disappointing, Pho is amazing with chili oil) and I still received the Pho noodles. Not bad, not bad. I was in town for work and was hunnngrrryyyy after a long day of work. I ordered a large and it came out literally a minute later. Now, I loveeeee when my pho comes out PIPING hot. It was so hot! I loved it. The large came out with a lot of noodle and meat! I pretty much had a piece of meat in every bite with my noodle. I love how they are not stingy here. Really yummy, great food for a good price! My family and I had lunch here yesterday and ordered everything pho(for me), 2 noodle salads, chicken soup(for the kids to share), fresh spring rolls, fried chicken wings, taro boba, avocado boba and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Everything was delicious! Their pho was more-so beefy and hearty in flavor than I've tasted in some which were more spice-influenced (star anise, cinnamon, etc.). My parents enjoyed their noodle salads and the kids really liked their chicken soup with egg noodles. The fresh spring rolls were FRESH and the chicken wings were delightfully fried to crispy perfection. The drinks were really yummy and the boba was fresh, chewy and flavorful. I am so glad to have this place in Salinas. I think it's the best Vietnamese noodle house here. I love the big egg rolls they're excellent! They even come with a little side of pickled vegetables. The Oxtail Pho was great. The meat balls are the best I've had, seasoned perfectly. The broth is so delicious. The Bahn Mi was good, could have used 1 more piece of meat but it had plenty of veggies. It was a larger sandwich than other places. We came in for lunch today and had the Special Combination Pho which was great. The side sprouts and basil are always so fresh. Also had the Pork Pad Thai. So delicious and spicy. It had tomatoes, basil, Tofu and pork. It was outstanding, better than any Pad Thai I've had at Thai restaurants. Highly recommended. Service is great. This place used to be amazing! They had the best vegetarian pho in the city. Due to cost constraints they had to end the veggie broth. I wish they at least offered the veggie broth over the weekends. Stopped by around noon on my way down to San Francisco. I was greeted right away by a lovely waitress, she was very polite and welcoming. I ordered #1 large, which is like a combo pho. The prices are very reasonable, a large was less than $9, it's very similar to Bay area price. The combo pho was delicious, super hot broth which I like. There's plenty of meat, broth was flavorful. Okay so dry noodle bowl with grilled pork, not my favorite. The noodles were hot instead of warm or cold, but that wasn't my main issue. The pork was not tender, I could see lemon grass on the pork, but it lacked flavor. Usually there is more color in the pork, this looked like a pork chop I cooked in a pan. No real grill flavor. Ordered the chicken pho, tender chicken. Not so flavorful broth, but I've had worse. The fried egg rolls were pretty tasty. You get three long ones. We stopped in for a quick lunch on a Northern California-Southern California road trip. We've eaten our fair share of Vietnamese food over the years -- we've even been to Vietnam. This place exceeded our expectations for a quick Bahn Mi and Pho lunch. The pork Bahn Mi was excellent - the meat was juicy and the bread was the perfect blend of crunchy and soft. Sometimes I find the chicken in Vietnamese soups to be bland - but this chicken in the Pho was quite flavorful. The garlic noodles were also an A+ Everything came out fast and piping hot.
