I really wanted to like this place. This is the second time we went in for dinner and both times the experience wasn't a good one.The staff (possibly owner) had young children there wondering around making howling noises for over 30 minutes. There were only two of us and we didn't receive our meals at the same time (7 mins. apart) No silverware, the table had spoons only. Our beverages came after the meal and my glass was dirty. My partners Pho was missing a protein and when he informed someone he was told it only comes with one. We pointed it out to him on the menu and had to request he bring the additional protein. I moved to Monterey from Evergreen/San Jose a few years ago and have missed my availability of delicious Vietnamese food. Found this place today while visiting Salinas and they are superb! Very clean, beautiful decor inside, and friendly service. The banh mi l ordered was deliciously prepared, crisp fresh bread and seasoned grilled pork were all on point. The mango boba was so fresh and tasty l kept getting brain freeze from drinking it too fast! This place is a gem and l can wait to come back and try more of their food. read more

At first the service was great. The food however was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Halfway through my meal I found the most disgusting roach in my food. After inspecting the food further I found it was still alive. When we informed the manager of the problem they weren't willing to compensate the meal. The rest of my party was disgusted after seeing the roach in my food, only having a few bites of their own meals. The manager and the lady behind the cash register were being very difficult and saying that the owner was not able to compensate our meals and was only able to either remake my plate or discount it. They then said they talked to their boss and was able to compensate the whole party. As we left we could hear the lady say something along the lines of "dine and dash" Although they had informed us of the meals being comped. In my opinion take your money elsewhere. Unfortunately, I cannot give an honest opinion of the food here. My friends and I went there specifically because of their vegetarian menu, but upon ordering a soup, the server informed me that it was made from chicken broth. When I asked which items on the vegetarian menu had no animal products, she explained that all of them have chicken broth and/or fish sauce and that they cannot remove or substitute those ingredients. So we had to move on. We ended up going to an Indian restaurant not far away and it was delicious - and vegetarian friendly. read more

Went today hoping it would be better than last time. They are under new management and I could tell that the quality is very poor now. The tofu was soggy in my pho. And to make matters worse one of the tofu seemed to be spoiled and I had to spit out to not get sick. It was awful. I really hope that they work on improving their food quality and taste. read more

New spot for me to check out after hearing some chat from others... It is nice to have an alternative to Salinas' mega number of taquerias and fast food chain restaurants so a thumbs up for that. The dining area is large and there were 4 other tables with diners seated. Nothing really wowed me here. My table shared a few dishes; spring rolls, pan fried egg noodle, chicken fried rice and chicken & shrimp vermicelli. There were definitely some good flavors present but because the food was only warm (not hot) the noodles became sticky and rice was firm. The vermicelli seems to be the best option and did see it on a few other tables too. I would go with that if visiting again. The service was just ehh with very little interaction other than ordering and check please. Again, a nice alternative option to keep in mind. read more

Tried this Vietnam bistro in Salinas and it was really good. Lots of parking space there. I had deep fried imperial rolls and midwife size combination pho. The rolls included meat and some veggies inside, and were deep fried and served with sauce. It would be better if they could be cut into two parts each. One of the best in Salinas along with Pho #1, and Thanh Loi. Their garlic noodles are to die for. Attentive service, delicious sandwiches, spring rolls wrapped in pork, and the pho is very flavorful. I always get the rare steak pho, and I will admit when this place first opened I wasn't very impressed but it seems like their service and food has drastically improved ever since and I highly recommend this place for authentic and delicious pho in Salinas. It's hard to decide in between the top 3 but this is definitely one of the best and they are equally delicious to me. I am happy to say I am a regular now. read more

Food is the bomb! Came here the other day for lunch with the boyfriend. Every time we pass this place we always comment on how busy it is all the time and we thought we had to try it soon - so many people seem to like it! I tried this garlic chicken rice plate with broccoli (can't remember if it's called garlic chicken or shaking chicken on the menu). Soooooo delicious. So much garlic-y good flavor and they don't skimp on the portions. I had enough from that one order to bring home to my boyfriend to try! Seriously guys, try it! The other day when I came I had the bahn-mi sandwich. I wasn't as much of a fan of this menu item as it could have had more meat but the meat that was there was flavored well. I got the beef and it had a slightly sweet flavor that accented the savoriness of the meat. Lots of veggies. Service was good and food came out fast. This is our go-to noodle place in Salinas. I have a couple usuals the rare beef and meatball pho and the garlic noodles with shaking beef. The broth is delicious and their meatballs are so flavorful. If you love garlic you'll definitely love the garlic noodles. They're seasoned perfectly and the vegetables paired with them are fresh and not canned and soggy. You gotta get it with the shaking beef. The portions are big so I always have some leftovers. The service has always been great every time we've been here. The food comes out quick too! read more

I love Vietnamese and Thai food. I must preface my post with this since i love places with good food. Well we gave this place a shot and we were disappointed. First off we had to wait 10 minutes for a menu. Then another 10 minutes for our order. The place was not that busy but folks started arriving after we did. Our order came well after other tables around us and we ordered ahead of them The pho broth was greasy. The pad Thai was dry. We also had number 20 which only had 5 pieces of beef and plate was overflowing with salad and rice instead. Service was not attentive at all. I hope they work these kinks out but definitely not changing up from Mr Noodles anytime soon. This place has some more work to do. read more

Sorry Noodle House, I think you might have a competition here. Okay, it might be an exaggeration, but the food here is promising. I ordered the number 3, which compares to the number 16 at Noodle House. The pho broth is flavorful, and I can actually compare it to my go to spot at San Jose, Pho Hoa. They have two serving size, a medium and a large. I ordered a medium and it's compared to the large at Noodle House. I would also recommend the Deep Fried Chicken for appetizers. The egg rolls came in with three pieces, but they said that it only comes with two, so maybe I got a hook-up and I didn't even know. LOL! They offer a great variety of food here. They also offer Banh Mi here, Vietnamese sandwiches which I haven't tried yet. I'll update my review if necessary. The service is good and very attentive. They are actually have a decent customer service compared to other Asian noodle restaurants. (I've been to other places that the servers won't be seen until you finish your food and ready to pay.) The only thing I would suggest is to have more room for 5 or more parties. Put together some tables if necessary. We had 5 in our party, and we had to share the table on a 4 person table, so the plate can be crowded. I also seen another party that had to take another table across from them, because they had 6 in their party. Overall, this place looks promising. First time at this restaurant and was NOT impressed. The soup broth is too salty. The meatballs taste old. The sliced lemons were dry, basil and bean sprouts didn't look appetizing. They only gave me three slices of green peppers. I only ate a little bit of the soup. The egg rolls were disgusting. It upset my stomach. Good thing I only took one bite. It was cold, a lot of it was inedible (bad parts of a chicken) and there wasn't a whole lot of it. I've had better broth. There was more noodles than there was chicken and it seemed rather sticky.
