Beef Drunken Noodles (not spicy!)
Ai M.

Corn fritters, fried egg rolls, and spring rolls were satisfying appetizers. My drunken noodles had good char, but were not spicy (isn't stronger flavor what differentiates it from soy sauce noodles?). Pad see iw was clumped together, so the kid was disappointed with his order. Prik khing had good flavor from Thai basil, but it wasn't spicy even though we explicitly asked for Thai-level hot. Thai iced coffee and Thai iced tea were not sweet, which I liked.

Egg Rolls

So we always enter a new restaurant hoping that it's going to be a great dining experience. Stuck in Salinas for a night, we spent an hour scanning Yelp. Finally, we agreed upon Ginger Thai. To say that this was the worst Thai food we've ever eaten is an understatement. I will say that the service was friendly and accommodating and the ambiance was quite pleasant. But it did not help the food. We started off with unnaturally giant calamari rings which, the waiter explained, were assembled from chopped squid tentacles . It was tender. But the breading was extremely heavy and it was served with a standard plum sauce with chopped peanuts. The egg rolls were hot and crispy and served with the same sauce. Honestly, if that was all that we consumed, three stars would have been appropriate. However, we ordered two entrees: drunken seafood noodles that were so thick and dense, only small bites of noodles worked. The real problem was the overcooked seafood. My partner offered me a mussel which was so horrible, I feared becoming ill. Someone should tell the kitchen that mussels only need a brief couple of minutes in the broth. It also tasted old but that could be me. The duck breast with orange sauce was the worst part for me. I always order duck when Thai restaurants have it on the menu. This overcooked breast (why kill it if you're not going to treat its meat with an ounce of respect?) was served in pools of a cloyingly sweet thick orange sauce and steamed noodles. Because of the sauce, the noodles, accompanying carrots and cabbage were inedible. At one point, I transferred slices of duck to another plate where I blotted the sauce with my napkin. This gastronomic disaster set us back $100. At $50, we'd never return. In order to soothe our taste buds, we went next door and visited Baskin Robbins where I came up with a new ice cream flavor: Duck Puke. To complete things, this was my partner's birthday dinner.

I get their Pad Thai, original Thai recipe. I always come back to this Thai place, definitely recommend it

Curry and fried rice

I ordered to go and when I got home it was still nice and warm. The coconut soup is AMAZING! Also the curry dish and pork fried rice "I forgot the names" was so flavorful! Thumbs up!!!

I never manage to take a picture of the food because it's that good! This is the best Thai Tea in Salinas... hands down. The panang curry is my favorite and my go to. I will always come back to this spot they're supper friendly and attentive.

If you're looking for Solid Thai food in Salinas, this is the spot. Located on South Main Street, Ginger Thai is impossible to miss as you drive past. They have a small parking lot in the back, but it only accommodates a few vehicles, including a few handicap spots. It's best to park in the neighboring parking lots (by Winchels) or in the neighborhood down the street. The service is prompt, prices are on par with what you would expect but most importantly the food is good. I've been here a few times recently and keep ordering the Tom Yum noodle soup with chicken and veggies (adding like an additional protein) which is loaded with yummy goodies and adds an extra healthy twist to it. If you're spice sensitive, I'd recommend leveling down on your spice level. You can always ask for more if it doesn't have enough, but you can't take it away once added. I order my spice level somewhere around medium, which is closer to hot at other Thai places I've been to. Overall, this is a Thai food staple and I highly recommend Ginger Thai when you're in the area!

Very friendly witness. The restaurant is near the street. The serving size is large and the food is not bad. I was afraid some dishes might be spicy but it turned out not spicy at all. The salmon was overcooked it was too dry. Noodle soup is very tasty.

Not disappointed !!! Martin again making those wonderful suggestions!! This is my second time and enjoyed! The drunken noodles were good!! The soup wasn't my favorite, usually I ask for shrimp but they brought me chicken (a human error). It was good but not my favorite. The sticky rice was different. I think the rice they used was different kind of the one I get but it was a good experience. I am happy to keep coming back. The owner came over and ask how the food was and thanks us for returning!! That made me feel very special! And Martin gave me good suggestions for next time I go back!

Panang Curry

The restaurant looks very nice inside decorated with some artefactos and paintings from Thailand. Bright colors and tables are well spaced between one another. We had a very attentive server who made sure we were enjoying our meal and if we needed anything else. We ordered Pineapple Curry, egg rolls and Panang Curry. Overall the food looked and tasted good, however, the Chicken Panang Curry had very little protein and they added tomatoes to the pineapple curry which I prefer without. The egg rolls are not recommended.

Ordered pho, shaking beef, banh xeo, and others that I could not remember. Their pho was good, big portion and full of meat. Unfortunately the sirloin was overcooked and the other parts of the meat have too much fats in them, so it was down on the score. Their shaking beef was also meh, very thin and overly sweet, probably not their strongest dish. Banh xeo was full of meat and fillings, but not particularly crispy. All in all, it was tasty but only lacking a bit here and there. Their service was pretty good though. Their restaurants are also huge, which is a plus.

From the moment I walked in, the service began with a bad start. The staff were chatting and joking behind the counter and too distracted to notice me. I had to grab a menu myself and ask in a loud tone if I could sit anywhere just to get their attention. Once seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for a server to come by. I ordered a boba drink and pho with brisket. The server returned after another 8 minutes to say they were out of both the boba flavor I wanted and the brisket. After I reordered, the replacement boba arrived extremely sweet -- basically tasted like watered-down sugar syrup with almost no tea flavor. The pho was even more disappointing.. the broth was watery and bland, there was very little beef, and the bowl was light on noodles and toppings. It felt like a shadow of what they used to serve. It's sad to see a spot that was once one of the best pho places in Salinas (in my opinion) decline this sharply. The restaurant was unusually empty, and the few other customers looked just as unimpressed. I understand rising food and restaurant operating costs, but cutting quality this much will only drive more people away. I rarely leave negative reviews and I don't consider myself to be such a picky eater, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. I'm not sure I'll be back.

My partner and I were seated quickly on a Sunday afternoon, which was a nice start. The ambiance is casual and relaxed -- nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and perfect for a laid-back meal. I ordered the BBQ pork and shrimp vermicelli noodles plus the spicy chicken wings as an appetizer -- both were delicious. Honestly, I would've ordered another round of wings if my noodles hadn't come out so fast. The vermicelli bowl was packed with flavor, and I really loved the sauces mixed in. My partner's pho was also really good, so that's another win. Plenty of seating for a hole-in-the-wall spot, with lots of parking which is always a plus. Prices felt fair for everything we ordered. And don't sleep on the boba menu -- the drinks were surprisingly good for the area. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Marina and in the mood for noodles!

If you're no longer seating customers before 8, then your hours need to reflect that instead of misleading people. To make matters worse, on another day I tried calling in a takeout order and was put on hold for over 9 minutes after being asked to please hold. I even posted a photo above showing exactly how long I was left on hold, and no one ever came back to answer the line or take my order. I finally hung up, called back, and it went straight to voicemail by then it was past the cutoff time to order. Extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of time. If you advertise takeout, answer your phone. If you close your dining room early, be honest about your actual hours. The lack of communication and poor service here is unacceptable.
