Hot and spicy shrimp are way better than crab bucket place in Salinas. I've tried both places. The shrimp here is fresh, huge, delicious! I also ordered a lunch special and it was plenty for two! This is the worst Chinese food I've ever had. We were heading home to Orange County from Napa and decided to try out this place. Boy did it disappoint.. To start off as an appetizer we got the fried prawns (which were just regular sized shrimp, if that) and the breading was just terrible; it tasted old and salty, I ended up just taking it off and eating the shrimp naked. As our main course we got the szechuan trio (beef, chicken & shrimp) and I couldn't believe we only got ONE shrimp in it. Aside from that the beef tasted like it had gone bad. The only thing I liked was the chicken (there wasn't much of that either) and the zucchini. Needless to say we stopped an hour later to eat again. read more

So I recently moved out of Gonzales, and after 4 months of searching i am still looking for a replacement to this place. The food is excellent and the service is great, I have been going to this place since high school when it first opened. Notable Dishes: Pork Buns(Char Siu Bao) - Honestly one of the best appetizers to get with a semi-sweet but mostly savory flavor. Hot and Sour Soup - an amazingly delicious dish with a hint of spice, a great dish for a cold day or as a start to a full meal. Mongolian Beef or Chicken - with a sour taste up from and a slight spice in the back this savory dish tastes great when mixed with rice, fried or steamed. Lemon Chicken - The lemon chicken really you just have to try it, if you even half-handedly enjoy lemon flavor it's great I am sad to say i have at times found the vegetables to be some times over cooked though working in the food industry and in catering, that's a hard one to get right every time But to end on an all in all positive note the Sweet and Sour sauce is the best I have ever had read more

This place used to be my go to. I always raved about how amazing all their food was but now with the new ownership it has run down to the ground. It started off slowly, after their senior waitress left the service sucked. I put up with the shitty service because the food was always so great but after today I'm sad to be parting ways with one of my top Chinese food places. The potstickers clearly are not home made anymore and are frozen from Costco, i know this because i have boughten them from Costco. This could be a really good guess but the taste was also different. The won ton soup, bland horrible. To top it off the waitress here is so rude and does not know anything about customer service. I don't know her name but she's a light haired girl and working their now. She constantly is fighting with a child that hangs around the back and sometimes brings out menus. They get one star for delivering to my work. The food is way overpriced for how bad it is and how rude they are. I ordered Shrimp Sizzling Rice Soup and I was given some scrambled egg broth stuff. I called to tell them I received the wrong thing and the lady had the nerve to yell at me and tell me I ordered whatever that stuff was. Two co-workers ordered as well. They both ordered meat dishes and never found the meat. One ordered Pork Chow Mein. She says she never found the pork. Another one ordered Kung Pao Chicken and was apparently given Kung Pao Peanuts instead. Oh, and the white rice was dry, too. Tonight we went to have our usual wonderful dinner at Canton Garden and after getting it home I knew that something was wrong. The broccoli beef was so salty I couldn't eat it and the sweet and sour chicken was fried so hard that it was just inedible. I called to ask what was wrong only to find out that our wonderful proprietors, Joe and Sue, had retired and sold their business. Sadly, due to the awful food we were served tonight I am updating this review. I don't think we'll be going back. At one time, this was the best Chinese food in Monterey County...Joe and Sue will be sorely missed. Sue and her wonderful husband Joe have been feeding us the best Chinese food for years now. Such kind, hard working folks who never fail to step out from behind the counter to give me a hug and say hello. It's businesses like these that keep local people spending their money here in Gonzales instead of driving to Salinas. The food is the best in Monterey County in my opinion. Usually if we go to dinner with our friends we drive to Salinas, Monterey or Carmel. Unless, of course, we want Chinese then they have to come to us! The food is always hot, fresh, and cooked to order. We usually get take out so we don't get to enjoy the small town atmosphere and miss have a friendly chat with the proprietors. Sue and Joe work so hard and they keep the place spic and span. Sure the decor is simple but it's never a disappointment to eat here and as I said, it is kept so clean! It's also a pleasure to watch Joe cook! They are open from 9:00-9:00 p. m. and you can count on catching a glimpse of Joe in the back flipping sizzling fresh meats, vegetables and fish in a huge wok. If you are lucky, Sue will be there too (as she usually is) either packing up take out orders or talking and smiling with a customer.
