    Sweet chili Chicken Wings

This is a very nice venue. It's clean and well laid out, and I appreciate that they have both printed menus, and a wall menu, complete with pictures. It just gives us confidence that we are ordering what we think we're ordering. Service was exceptional, and I greatly appreciated the owner/manager Lydia, who spent some time with us following the meal asking for feedback. We started out with The crispy sweet chili wings, which were fabulous. I got a Thai tea with Boba and my husband tried a mango smoothie. We share our food and the Hubbs ordered the beef and meatball pho. This is where we had a difference of opinion. I loved the broth, but he thought that the five spice was a little too heavy. He loved the meatballs, and I wasn't a fan. Overall, it was still very delicious. I ordered the build your own plate, with rice, beef and pork. That was definitely a favorite. We also got a couple of desserts to take home and eat later which were lovely. There are many other menu items that we want to try at future visits. So this is now on our list of regular places for dining out. He is very much looking forward to trying a future order of the pho using the chicken broth, rather than the beef broth. We appreciate that they are willing to customize orders to ensure we get the best possible meal.

Stopped by here on soft opening day (3/22) and was excited to see their vegetarian options. The nice man at the counter confirmed that their vegetarian pho broth is housemade and DOES contain the traditional spice aromatic that go in pho broth like clove, cinnamon etc. He also told me that items marked as vegetarian on the menu are definitely vegetarian if indicated as such. He seemed knowledgeable about the ingredients and patient in answering questions. They have several vegan options. I really wanted to try the Saigon vegetarian clay pot special- Slow braised mushrooms and tofu with lemongrass and veggies with rice in a clay pot but my husband and I noticed many people who already ordered didn't receive food so decided to go and come back. When we came back it was even busier so we decided to come back on a day that is not their soft opening day. I did get a glimpse of the vegan pho and it looked good. The vegetarian banh mi has egg based mayo which can be left out. For the vermicelli bowls they can sub the fish sauce with sweet soy sauce. They have a couple tables outdoors in front. It's an order at the counter type place. I will update my review once I try the food but for now leaving this info here.

The A/C worked well enough despite the dining area filling up with hungry customers. Seating is laid-back, and ready for a group of four or those willing to share a table. Cordial, English-speaking staff are efficiently working and made sure we were well hydrated during a particularly hot weekend. The food was not as we expected. I had the rice plate and my husband ordered pho. My rice plate was filled with enough rice for all the protein that topped it. My favorites had to be the pork chop and the egg & meat loaf. The pho was fragrant - as it should be - but the flavor of the broth was not developed enough. It tasted like salted water, and the beef flavor only came from the slices they put in the bowl. Maybe we were asking for too much, but the flavors were generally light [at best] and definitely not what I'm used to. Even the nuoc cham tasted watered down...how is that possible? Overall: 2.6 stars. Edible and decent food. The wait staff are quick and personable to the faces they know. If I never had Vietnamese food before the rice plate is filling and good enough to come back for. The pho, however is deceptive - smells great but the taste is watery and lacking.

In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised by their growing menu and their willingness to better themselves by listening to Yelp feedback. You can really feel the spirit of home-cooking and the cozy atmosphere of a locally owned restaurant here. In the best way possible, service hasn't changed - it's still the same friendly owner greeting you with a smile and overall cheerful attitude. You can tell that they are actively growing as a restaurant and I can't help but want to cheer them on! Today, I had their banh mi pho with a side of Chinese donuts to dip into the pho broth. Absolutely delicious and great concept. My constructive feedback is if they can dial in their pho broth (which I already enjoy) to have more in-depth bone broth/spice flavor and less reliance on maybe the salty aspect. I think that was a bit rude to withhold just the one order. It made it a bit awkward at the table. A couple tables that ordered after us were still served before the last guy in our party. My food was fine. However, their bahn mi has a giant cucumber slice that ruined the sandwich a bit. We're used to cucumber slices instead of a whole cucumber spear in the sandwich, but I guess that is just personal preference. The plate I ordered is probably not popular (#64) since she had to re-check the menu when I ordered. All of it tasted fine, though. No one ever came to refill our water or check in if we needed anything else. I'll probably pass on this place next time there is an invite. Maybe I'll try the other Vietnamese spot down the street near Popeye's the next time I get a hankering for some Pho or Bahn Mi.

I would definitely go here if you're looking for something new or seeking a rarer dish. They also have VERY generous portion sizing, so it's pretty good value. If you wanted something familiar like pho or rice dishes, I personally feel that other places do them better. I have a family member who went separately who said the banh khot (a rarer dish in the US) they ordered was better than the regular Vietnamese offerings. When my partner I went, service was a little slow and distracted. They currently have the World Cup games playing on the TV for both customers and themselves. I don't mind the fanfare around the excitement for the games, but the waiter did get our food order wrong due to the distraction :( The bussed tables were pretty clean, but a lot of tables were left unbussed for a very long time due to the game too. My partner and I went with the meatball and brisket pho and bun thit nuong (except this one came out wrong and was just bun cha gio). Cyclo's pho style is on the sweeter side. I was a little shocked at how sweet it was. The bowl size is huge and comes with plenty of noodles. They don't skimp. My partner's bun cha gio was okay. Cyclo is a little more special in that they put taro in their cha gio (egg rolls). We personally weren't fans of this, but it is unique. The taro gives the filling a slimier texture. Overall, my partner and I wouldn't return again for the food unless we wanted something more new, but we do love how good value Cyclo is.
