I visited this restaurant since it was one of the best vietnamese restaurants near LAX where I was staying on a recent trip. It's very conveniently located, so they have that going for them. We had a party of 8 and were seated fairly quickly, even though the restaurant was nearly full, maybe we just came at the perfect time. We ordered the spring rolls and sugar cane shrimp as apps. Those were pretty good, I preferred the sugar cane app the best. For my order, I was eyeing the #11, but I settled on a pho filet mignon to compare it to my fav pho shop back in Houston. It is a really good bowl of soup and filling, but it wasn't quite as good as my fav back home. My tablemates ordered 3 rice dishes and 4 soups, and everyone enjoyed their meals and the experience here. I put the soup and the all the contents in a large bowl I had at home so that i could eat it more easily. The takeout also comes with the typical stuff like the bean sprouts, lime, mint, etc so this place is a great takeout place. The restaurant serves a special dish on Fridays and Saturdays. It's a Vietnamese crepe that has shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, and scallions. They also give you a bag with herbs and lettuce along with a tangy fish sauce. It was delicious! Came here on a rainy weekday and of course, there was a line. You can conveniently join the waitlist through Yelp before getting there to cut down your wait time. I was quoted 20-35 mins, but actually spent about 10 mins waiting in total (party of 1). The pho is some of the best I've had in LA. Broth was flavorful and the portion sizes were generous (considering the prices). Would've liked a bit more meat as the meat to noodle ratio was a pretty large gap, but nothing to complain about. Would definitely come back! Service was fast and servers were nice. 5% discount if paying with cash. This is my new favorite go-to pho spot now. Previously, I had frequented a couple other pho places in Gardena. However, even with those places, the quality of their phos were inconsistent. Sometimes, my pho was too oily where I had to dab out the grease with my napkin. In addition to that, the meats were sometimes overcooked or mainly fatty vs lean. It was a hit or miss. Anyways, I'm glad I was introduced to Saigon Dish by my wifey. Tanks wifey. The Food: I've only had the pho or spring rolls. The pho was amaze-balls. I had the pho with the filet mignon meats. Yup, they offer filet mignon y'all. That's quality meat right there. The meat was tender def. not overcooked. Other pho places just use cheap quality meat slices. Saigon is def. a step up with the rest of them. The spring rolls (goi cuon) were good. It came with a sweet peanut dipping sauce if my memory serves me correctly. My wife enjoyed it more than I did. I'm just more of the main dish kinda guy. The Service: My wifey and I came for both lunch and dinner time on separate occasions. It was super busy during lunch and dinner rushes so be mindful of that. Regardless, we were seated fairly promptly. The busser was attentive and prompt. Our food came out promptly. And no, the bussers here don't bathe their thumb in the pho when they bring it out to you. The Ambiance: Parking in the plaza can get pretty crowded so be prepared. There's a lot of seating inside but some areas may feel a bit crammed. Again it can get busy on lunch and dinner rushes. Go off-peak if you're able. Food Broth was 10/10 really good. When I eat pho, the first thing I do is taste the broth as is and determine how good the whole meal will be from there, and upon my first spoonful I knew this pho would be really good. The broth was very flavorful, that just warms up your the inside of your mouth and explodes with flavor. My order came with brisket, meatball, steak, tendon, and tripe, and each one was really good. I made a side dipping sauce of hoisin and sriracha, and it just enhanced the flavor of the meat as I eat it with the flavorful broth. At first glance, it looks like Pho you'd get from any pho place, but that first spoonful tells you, it's different and will definitely stand out. Service/Ambiance The actual place is located in an unassuming strip mall, so you wouldn't think much of it walking in, but the moment you get inside, it's just packed with a lot of people, so I could tell right away that people come to this place for a reason. The staff were nice and we got our food pretty quickly. We had a group of 8 and there was some miscommunication where one of the staff gave our table to a different group, but it was resolved quickly and was seated within a few minutes, which I appreciate. The portion was pretty large and I was almost full halfway through my bowl. The broth was super flavorful and they added an even ratio of meat to noodles. The meat was super tender just melts in your mouth. All that for $10 is amazing, especially being in LA. Definitely will be coming back to try their other options! Plenty of parking in the plaza. We came at night, so the lot wasn't as full. I thought the service was great. A lot of people were complaining, but I thought they were pretty friendly and did a great job.
