Eileen saved my wedding dress. I had a custom made red dress which was beautifully designed but still needed a lot of work on the construction. In short, the bodice of the dress needed to be reconstructed, the lining of the dress needed to be sewn into the outer lace portion, there was a zipper going all the way up the back of the dress, and a big lump on the back of the dress. She patiently identified all the issues and was able to save the dress in a short amount of time. There were a few days where I seriously thought I needed to get another dress. Eileen, who is the owner/seamstress, is amazing! She was so bubbly and welcoming every time I had stopped by her store. I have seen Eileen on two different occasions: one was for alteration assistance on a couple of my dresses and the other was to learn how to bustle my bff's wedding dress. When I came to see her for alterations, I truly appreciated how upfront Eileen was. I had purchased two dresses online. I wanted the first dress to be hemmed at the bottom and more closed in the front (it was just too open and busty for anyone's good). When I tried on the dress for her, she knew right off the bat that the dress was poorly made even though the dress felt like it fit me perfectly. She showed me how wrong the stitching in the dress was, and after she pointed it out I couldn't have agreed more with her. Rather than going through the trouble of paying even more for the alteration than what I initially paid for the dress, Eileen suggested to save my money and just return the dress entirely. WOW! It not only shows her level of experience but also shows that 1.) she's not out for your money, and 2.) she treats her clients with utmost honesty, integrity, and respect. We thought he was set with his suit as we had purchased one a few months back, but realized he had outgrown it just a few days before his graduation. I took him to Men's Wearhouse and found a suit, but they said there's no way they can do the alterations in time within a couple of days. They recommended we check with Said With Threads to see if they can do it. I called and I spoke to the owner who said they are completely booked, but said she will find a way to fit us in. We went there and my son put on the suit. She immediately realized that the size we had was a little too small and said it would be much better if we could buy one size bigger. We went back the next day, did the exchange, and she managed to fit us in for a second time. The alteration work was done on time, with a very reasonable price, and great workmanship. Bought a dress for a tea party I was going to attend. Unfortunately the dress was way too big, so I brought it in hopes to be able to get altered. Since the dress was about 6 sizes too big it would've cost me a fortune to alter. So we came up with a solution to make the dress into an skirt. Skirt was done in about 3 days, and it came out so beautifully!!! The owner was also nice enough to hem the top, and now I can wear the dress as a two piece set. I absolutely LOVE Said with Threads. And even more I LOVE Eileen!!! She is a magician and she doesn't even know it. She so calm and quirky, and exactly the presence one would need if you are freaking out about nothing fitting you right. I came into her store, I want to say about 3 weeks before my wedding (so pretty close) with my white wedding dress, several Indian bridal tops for my sister and I that that another alteration person had previously butchered. She didn't turn us away. Instead she rushed us to a fitting room and asked that we both try on our outfits. And then she began working. Then she set me up with her secretary that discussed fittings and I realized Eileen had so many customers that it was hard to find time on her schedule. But we did. And in that moment I realized that she took us on as we looked shook and anxious and she did not think twice about helping us. Back to the alterations---Eileen never claimed to be an expert in south Asian clothing but she said she would try. She literally saved us in the sense that the fabric was too short, the breast portion of the top was on the abdomen, the sleeves fit awfully (I looked like a football player). She listened, examined and just started pinning. As soon as she did I could see the top taking form into what I wanted it to be. She definitely understands body type and what looks good and what doesn't. Needless to say our tops came out beautiful. My sister's indian crop top was so messed up and Eileen saved the day without shopping off the sleeves or doing anything too major to set her apart from the other bridesmaids (She used some gold fabric from my top to extend fabric on hers, without me requesting it, she did everything she could with what she had). Now on to the white dress--- I am a petite girl 5'1 about 110 pounds but I have hips. I got a size 6 in a wedding dress made in China. It sat very well on my hips but the top was massively huge. Before Eileen, I went to a woman who told me, "honey the overlay on your dress is too delicate to touch, you have to wear it this loose because I cant do anything for you, maybe just tighten the sleeves". So in my head I'm thinking, "so I am 110 pounds and you want me to look 140 on my wedding day?" That woman sweet enough however to recommend a more experienced seamstress---which brought me to Eileen! I do not regret it one bit. I had about 3 dress fittings, almost 1x a week before the wedding, but she got it done (In addition to everything else I had given her!) The dress fit beautifully, she was careful to ask about my walking & dancing as to make it easier for me to walk with a trail (long but not too long). I will post photos soon but I just had to share that she is a wonderful seamstress and person! I am so glad that I looked on Yelp for a seamstress and found Eileen! She knew exactly what to do to get the dress to fit me perfectly! She hemmed it from the waist because apparently I needed a petite sized waist. Let me tell you if I would have taken my dress to the other place I have gone, they would have hemmed the bottom and had to put buttons on the chest to keep it closed. I needed a costume that was too small altered because I wasn't able to return it so, I went through all the nearby tailors and found her business through Yelp. Not only was the drive long, the prices are amazing! When I first came in, she greeted me and is very attentive. She was very approachable and listens to what you want. Eileen wants to make sure that you will look good in what you're wearing and she fixes it with perfection. It took her about a week to fix my cosplay and I got it in time! I found this place through Yelp and because it's close to where I live, I decided to call and ask about pricing for hemming long summer dresses. I spoke to Eileen who asked me what material they were and how many layers each dress had. She was very professional and nice over the phone so I decided to drop by her place. It's located across from Macy's at Newpark Mall in a smaller plaza. (Maps app kept taking me to the mall/showing that it's in the mall-so I had to call her and ask for her location.) Eileen greeted me with a friendly smile and is a very sweet lady. She looked at all the dresses and told me how much each would be before I went in to try them on for her to measure and pin. I had asked to hem up 2 inches from the ground but she suggested 1 inch would be better. I decided to trust her on it (and she was right! It hit barely above my ankles perfectly!) We had small conversations but it felt like she was just a friend of mine and we were just catching up. I dropped off the 6 dresses on Tuesday and asked if she could have it ready by Friday. She did even better and had them ready Thursday morning! I was only able to try on 1 dress at the store when I picked them up because I brought my 2 young boys with me but tried them all on later at home. They were all perfect lengths and I'm glad she recommended to hem only 1 inch off the ground. I highly recommend coming here and I definitely will be coming back! Considering my last review about another embroidery shop, I was skeptical about continuing this project. I had originally looked up a previous place up and it didn't work out for me. I continued searching for places and decided to just call before coming in. I had explained over the phone to the lady what I wanted to be done. She said it sounded like not a problem and to just come in. So I did. She was super nice! SUPER SUPER NICE. And sweet. She worked with me with the work I wanted done (handkerchiefs with embroidery initials done). She helped pick out what font, color size and everything else. I kept thanking her for doing this because I thought it really wasn't doable after that last place told me I was crazy for it. I had told her about my visit to the previous place and she told me that it was sooooo doable and I wasn't crazy. :) The receipt she had given me said that it would be ready in a days worth! Based on reviews I was really excited for see Eileen's craft in action. I sent a dress in for hemming and for tightening of the bodice - the adjustments were very lopsided with my left chest significantly looser than the right and the worst part is how tight the entire thing now fits. I'm extremely nervous of busting out of the dress when I wear it. In the fitting, she said I must be eating too much salt, in my time of month, or working out too much which isn't true - I have the same lifestyle and size as when I did the original pinning just 2 weeks prior. it In addition, my dress came back filthy with hair and loose threads all long the bottom of the dress. Deeply disappointed in the experience and lack of care with my garment. Trying not to panic and consider $200+ down the drain. I am giving this place a 1/5 because I was not happy with services I received. Eileen was recommended by the place where I purchased my wedding gown. I made an appointment and went in. The first appointment was nice. She gave me an idea of what she would do with my dress and told me what the job would require. She charged me for everything during this first visit. This is the ONLY reason why I am giving this place 1 star. The 2nd time I went, I admit I was a little late, but she pretty much yelled at me for being late and treated me with a teenage attitude the whole time I was there. Nothing got done during this appointment because my "bust didn't fill the dress". Obviously, this was something that needed to get fixed bc it was TOO BIG, but she didn't even try to fix it. Instead, she told me to order those plastic chicken cutlets online and a bustier with a lower back than the one I had already bought. During the 3rd appointment, we got somewhere and she was able to cut the dress and hem it. She then told me she would work on the bust and the top of the dress since it was too big despite me having bought the stupid bust fillers and the bustier. (I'm a C cup and she still didn't think my boobs were big enough to fill up the dress). She took measurements, pinned stuff and told me to go back in a month for a final fitting and pick up. I went a 4th time, anticipating my dress to look gorgeous. Instead, she made me hate my dress. There was a month left before my wedding, and my dress was still not fixed. The top (bust) still had the wires sticking out making one boob look way higher than the other one despite us agreeing she would take out the wires and work without them. The back of the dress was still really loose. The bustle wasn't done either, like she said it would be done, and the straps of the dress didn't fit correctly because, according to Eileen, my "shoulders are deformed". OH! and to my shock, inside of the dress, on the right cup there was a BLOOD STAIN! I guess she pricked their finger and got it on the dress. It was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I wanted to cry, but held it all in and told her what I was not happy with in a nice way (the wires, the back, the whole top which was loose and wasn't sewn like she said it would be). I was very patient and didn't even mention the blood stain. I left for an hour to think and decide on what to do. When I returned, she had taken the wires out of the top and had sewn it back together. She made me try on the dress again, which I didn't want. I decided to take my dress home with me. The only thing she pretty much did was cut the bottom and hem it, which wasn't even done evenly, according to the seamstress I ended up taking my dress to. I left in tears and cried all the way home. But before I left, she gave me a 50% refund. I didn't think this was fair. I paid $200.00 and she pretty much charged me $100 for the hemming of the dress, which wasn't done right in the first place. The 2nd seamstress I went to after Eileen did a fantastic job! She got the bustle done and fixed the bust, the back and cut the dress from the bottom correctly. She even took the time to take off the beading and fix the sides of the dress so it could fit, THEN she redid the beading exactly as it was. She did this all in a week and a half! My dress now fits perfectly! Additionally, Said With Threads isn't clean. The fitting room floor is full of strings here and there. I would suggest sweep it at least once a week or something. Every time I went, I left with strings and lint stuck to my clothes. My dress was full of this at the bottom and the other seamstress had to clean it all out. Overall, this place was a complete disappointment. Yes, the price I think is way less than getting it done elsewhere, but I'd rather pay (and I did pay) more to get the job done right with a professional, than visit the same place/person 4-5 times in the span of 4 months and have nothing done right at all. read more

My daughter and I found this little shop while looking for a shop we previously made an appointment with. It was a little hard to find at first as there is only the name on the door. I have to admit I was a little sketchy of this place until I walked in the door. My daughter and I were immediately greeted by Ann she is so nice and sweet. After we determined it wasn't in fact her shop we had the appointment with she asked us if we wanted to stay and she would squeeze us in since her next appointment wasn't there yet. We needed my daughters prom dress hemmed and taken in a little at the waste. After my daughter changed into her dress, Ann quickly pined and marked the dress for the work to be done. She was very detailed with her work and wanted to be sure the dress would sit perfectly after the alterations. The material the dress was made of was a 3 layer silk and sheer combination, not necessarily easy to alter or hem like most fabrics. Also keep in mind we only had 3 weeks until my daughters prom to have this dress fully ready. A little less than 2 weeks after we dropped off the dress with Ann we got the call that her dress was ready. My daughter tried her newly altered dress on and it was absolutely perfect. It for like it needed to and was the perfect length. If you ever have any kind of formal dress you need altered this is the place to go, Ann does beautiful quality work at a very reasonable price. read more

Needed two pairs of work pants shortened from a 34 inseam down to 25 since i was giving them to a friend of mine. Had them back a week later (i didnt give a day i needed them by since it wasnt a rush so Eileen chose a week) and they look great. $21 for two altered pairs is far cheaper than even one brand new pair from the store.
