I had a wedding to attend and a dress to alter and Alterations to Go is the closest place to my home so I took a gamble and went with them. The reviews were pretty positive so I felt good coming here. Located in a plaza right near Safeway, parking is abundant and free so no concern there. It can get busy in here. I arrived on a weekday after work and there was one person in front of me, but I was quickly helped out afterward. They had me try on the dress and got to working pining everything down. Once I reviewed their pinning, I changed back into my regular clothes, paid, and left. Drop off and pick up is really easy. I came here and trusted Rose to cut the bottom of my wedding dress and she charged me $170 cash only. She said okay to deposit $100 now and pay later. I come to pick it up 4/23/25 to see that the top seems like it is not fitting well. I notice my top of my dress seems to be fitting very thin and the flower design on my dress is missing.... When I take off my dress, I see this huge black stain on the flower OF MY WEDDING DRESS... I asked Rose and she says it's okay, and easy to wash off.. why would I wash it off when I BOUGHT MY WEDDING DRESS NEW??????? I get home and I examine my dress and they were supposed to CUT THE BOTTOM because it was too long for me to walk. IT SEEMS THEY CUT THE MIDDLE OF MY DRESS TO GRAB SOME FABRIC...... the bra portion of my dress feels flimsy they took the padding out and there is a huge slit where it seems like they just pieced it together and sewed it. It looks like cheaply cut like a 2nd grader cut with scissors.... So unprofessionally done... I came back 4/24/25 and ask Rose what happened and she said its not my fault its just dust.. Your shoes are dirty. I told her my wedding shoes are NEW!!!! Everything when i try is new. This stain is from you guys!!!! I proceeded to ask for a refund and she told me no nothing she can do just go wash my dress.. completely unacceptable. I AM LIVID. I DONT KNOW WHY I PROCEEDED TO PAY THE REMAINING $70 WHEN IT WAS NOT WORTH PAYING FOR ESPECIALLY A NEW DRESS I BOUGHT AND TRUSTED ROSE'S INPUT TO MAKE SURE MY WEDDING DRESS IS OK. Omg... omg... I came to this place from Union City as I naively believed their name, Alteration To Go which became a nightmare. Lady who measured my jacket called me 1 week later to ask me come to store to check - she didn't go any detail why I had to go without any reason - so I knew it was delayed from original schedule. Then I waited for another week to pick up and the other lady bluntly charged me another $20 while I already paid for $60 for hems and length. (They have price chart $35 for hems and $25 for length) She made an excuse the other one who measured didn't know and she was the one who made an alteration so I was thinking why I was not informed anything when the other lady left voicemail twice one from last week and the other from this week. This happened some time ago, but it was so bad, I have never forgotten it. I brought may nice jacket in to have the sleeves lengthened. They lengthened the sleeves but not the lining so you can imagine how awful it looked all puckered up. Well, they did fix it for free when I brought it in to complain. But my question still is, what professional seamstress would lengthen a sleeve without lengthening the lining of the sleeve? read more

Very happy with the alteration they did on my favorite yoga pants! Alterations To Go altered my stretchy Adidas yoga pants so that they fit me after I lost weight. Those who know sewing should know it's not easy to alter stretchy gym wear, so I didn't attempt at home. The woman at the front measured me and pinned before getting stared. They charged a competitive fee and had them finished within a week. The alteration was clean and the seams lined up perfectly. Will definitely be back with other clothing that needs tailoring. This was my go-to place for alterations for many years but not going back anymore. I had my pants hemmed at the end of November 2023. My bad for not making sure they were hemmed when picked up (I also sent my daughter to pick them up), but I finally decided to wear it in on January 10th and when I wore it, only one pant leg was hemmed. The other hem looked hemmed as it was ironed to the correct length but not a stitch could be seen. My bad for also not keeping the receipt, but when I took it back the lady tells me this was from a long time ago and you need it rehemmed. I explained to her that it was the first time wearing it since I got it altered and she said it was impossible that they would only hem one leg. Charged me $10. read more

The worse experience! If you have a formal event do not bring your formal wear here for alterations. The lady made me pay $85 for a dress I brought in. When I went to pick it up it was destroyed. She didn't offer an apology or to fix the damage she made, or offer a refund knowing I needed the dress in the next few days for my event. Very bad services. Feel like the lady with glasses is the only one person in the shop, when it's busy. She did not consider who come first and serve ppl randomly in order. I have to wait there and no one asked me what help i need for 15min. If I did not speak up . She will continue serve others first and ignoring me. Very not organized and impatient services there, she even impatiently said "just wait a minute" when I tried to talk to her. Considering that. We have been going to this place for over 5 years. Rose the owner is so sweet and really cares about her customers. We have given her some crazy oddball alteration requests from taking hoods off hoodies, adding pockets on hoodless hoodies or on shorts. We've had her turn so many t-shirts into racerback tanks and more. This shop takes on all of our challenges and nails it. Lastly , the turn around time is always quicker than anticipated. On 2 separate occasions, I had simple alterations done. Both times they were done incorrectly. The first time I had a jumper that needed a zipper repair. Instead of replacing the zipper, it was cut off and sewn shut! I was rather annoyed, but assured it could be corrected. They found a zipper and replaced it, but insisted I still pay the full price. Rather than argue, I let it go as a silly mistake and paid. The second time, was a grommet curtain, which I wanted to be made into a 1.5 inch pocket curtain. The grommets were cut off but the fabric was sewn completely shut - essentially made like a tablecloth. Covid shelter in place happened and they had my fabric for 3 months, business closed and no courtesy call to customers. When they finally opened, I went to pick up my curtain for the 2nd time - but it was still altered wrong. The pocket was so small no curtain rod would fit in it! It took them 3 times and my insisting on staying to make sure it was done right and done immediately. Good thing the curtain length was extra long, otherwise it would have been completely ruined. The owner did not apologize at all, she only the seamstress was a stupid woman. I was still charged $25 for this and offered a face mask when I asked for a discount considering the inconvenience. I won't be using this company again and caution anyone with a valuable item such as wedding dress or suit, you might want to think really hard about Alterations to Go - this is "Alterations are a No". read more

I have 1 dress was too tight, I asked for it to be made it loose 1.5 inches and 1 jacket to move the pocket from top to bottom charged $84 and she asked me to pick it up more than 1 month later... When I went to pick it up, my clothes are not ready yet and she made another appointment a week later. Hope my clothes are ready for that time. They asked for a higher price than other shops, and the appointment took longer. read more

I brought two womens suit jackets here to have the sleeves hemmed. The cuffs had decorative buttons and "buttonhole" stitching (they're the same style, one in black and one in gray). The shop owner indicated that they would have to move buttons, which sounded fine, as I assumed that they would move the necessary buttons above the existing ones and replicate the stitching. Apparently their idea of "moving" buttons involved completely removing the buttons and stitching, then unevenly and poorly stitch them back on higher. The material where the buttons were is COMPLETELY RUINED - you can see where the stitching was and it looks awful. Plus they couldn't even bother to put the buttons on straight or well - on one jacket they are falling off already! The lady refused to give me a refund, insisted it looked fine, and even accused me of pulling the buttons off myself! I am livid. Now I have to go spend another $150 on each jacket, and the $50 I spent on the alterations is also wasted. I should have just left the sleeves long! read more

They dry clean clothes just like any other cleaners; no more, no less and their price is comparable with most places. They alter jeans just as any other alteration places would; nothing special, nothing new and their price is comparable with most places. The man behind the counter yelled at my kids for LOOKING at themselves in the full length mirror and then at me because "the mirror is hard to clean". Life Savers! As a pregnant bride, I had difficulty finding a wedding dress that I loved and fit my growing belly. I finally found the perfect dress 5 days before my city hall wedding. They alter my jeans perfectly but don't expect them to open on time lol. They always come late which is annoying Update about the jeans. I had them alter a pair of Levi's which they did really well, so I brought another pair of jeans to them and it seemed so rushed and the quality of the tailoring wasn't as good as the last time. They didn't fit me as well as the first jeans I got altered and they left a bunch of string hanging everywhere. read more

It's like they dropped it on the floor and stepped all over it :(.There was not one spot on it when I dropped it off and there was dirt or some type of dark marks all over it when I picked it up. I dropped off a pair of pants to be tapered at the knee. The alterations came out perfectly, but for some reason the pants came back ruined. The pants originally had a nice wax coating on them, but when I got them back, half the coating was no longer there. It looks as if it were ironed or pressed with high heat and the pants lost its waxy consistency. Now they have a strange look to them and I am very upset with how they turned out. read more

The seamstresses here and management are amazing!! I brought in a straight bodice maxi dress that was non stretch and it just was too tight on my hips but I loved the fabric/colors, so I brought it in ! I asked if we could make this maxi into a two piece, a crop top and long skirt with elastic in the top and bottom. The seamstress has the same idea! They "let out" the waist and bust in my David's Bridal bridesmaid dress because I chose cheeseburgers over looking svelte. They masterfully added fabric to the sides. I had a couple tailoring jobs that needed to be done and decided to try out Alterations To Go. One of my buttons fell off of the jacket of my favorite suit, not to mention I needed the other buttons reinforced. I also needed a pair of pants hemmed. I come into ATG and the lady helps me, I start with the easy job first, the jacket and cost $5 to fix all three buttons, done. Then came the pants, I explained that I wanted 1 1/4" chopped off the bottom and put two fingers down, which was the length I wanted. She marked the pants as if she was going to take in the width of the pants 1 1/4". I was a little frightened that she wasn't understanding so when I explained it to her again, just for my peace of mind, she got a little, "Yeah, yeah, yeah..." attitude with me. I honestly wanted to just walk out with my pants, because I wasn't looking to end up with long skinny pants but, I just figured she knew what she was talking about and if it didn't turn out right, I have documentation. Before leaving, she said that I had to pay first. Okay, major red flag. If she messed up on my pants, I'm screwed because I already paid for it. I didn't like the idea of having to pay in advance but again, I'd have documentation of the job. When I come back to pick up my order, the buttons on my jacket were on nice and tight, but there was threading remnants. Then I checked my pants and a sigh of relief when I saw that they were done correctly. ATG did an okay job, but could've at least cut the remaining thread off my jacket. But overall, if they (or should I say, she) would've just listened carefully instead of being so harsh, then maybe I'd come back. read more

Hesitant about altering some designer jeans, I came to Alterations To Go with nervousness despite the stellar Yelp reviews. I can now vouch for these guys in saying that they do an awesome job, so fear not! I got two jeans cut short and hemmed with the basic hem for $10/ea. They charge $20/ea for leaving intact the original hem. They know what their doing and do a clean job, so I'm definitely coming back for future alteration needs! Oh, and the jeans were ready the following day -- a huge plus if you need something pronto! P.S. You do have to pay upon dropping off the clothes, but that wasn't a problem for me. This place is great...fast, friendly, and really great at alterations. I had a chiffon dress with about 5 layers that I'd taken to another alteration place closer to my work to get taken in. The lady there did a really crappy job and I think she was afraid to take it in well enough for it to be properly fitted. The company dinner was the next day and I really needed to get this thing taken in properly. I called around and Alterations To Go was the only place that could fix the dress in one day. The woman that helped me was wonderful with understanding what the dress needed and understanding how I wanted it to look. She also seemed surprised that the other shop had considered the dress "taken-in." I picked up my dress the next day...it fit perfectly and looked fantastic. Plus, they charged really fair price and their prices for hemming and taking in pants were really affordable, too! Found them on Yelp since the other seamstress in town (also found on Yelp) was completely rude and not helpful at all. I called first to see if she could accommodate what I needed which was for a dress to be let out within a few days for a wedding I was going to be in. (This was over a holiday weekend too.) She/they really bent over backwards to make sure my dress was at least ready for the wedding although she wouldn't promise that it would be perfect.
