BRIDES: if you are looking for a seamstress/tailor for your wedding, please, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go straight to Eileen. I made the mistake of going to someone else in the area, and it was one of the biggest mistakes I made leading up to the wedding. I initially brought my dress to Eileen for steaming about two weeks before my wedding, and she immediately spotted a whole host of things that my previous seamstress had done poorly. My hemline was uneven, the wrong kind of stitching was used (which cause the edge to "lettuce"), and the bustle was just...awful. So awful that it was almost impossible to replicate. So many things just didn't make sense about my dress. Come three days before the wedding, and Eileen calls me to let me know the problems she uncovered while trying to steam my dress (which were a result of the wrong stitching that was used by my previous seamstress). You can imagine the stress that started weighing down on me. But Eileen took it all in stride, assuring me that she could quickly turn the dress around in the two days I had remaining before I was supposed to pick up the dress. I was on the verge of tears when I saw her for an emergency appointment, and she did her best to quell my worries. To make a long story (somewhat) shorter, Eileen took it upon herself to not only fix my dress, but make it look EVEN BETTER than it had before. She completely recreated the bustle, producing something that my maid of honor found way easier to replicate and that looked amazing in photos. She did her best to fix the uneven hemline and she also made the stitching consistent around the entire dress. She even spotted a few areas that I was unhappy with (but had been pressured into accepting because of my previous seamstress)--and she fixed those too! Eileen, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This will be a little long, but if you want the Executive Summary it reads: Eileen is absolutely excellent. I'm from out of town (near Memphis) but I work in Fremont. I needed some suits and coats altered and called Eileen, who answers all her own calls, to see what she might be able to do. Sight unseen, she said if I could bring them in that night (a Tuesday) she'd be able to get them back to me by Thursday so I could take them on my Friday flight. I needed them for my Thursday meetings, so I told her I'd do it next time. The next time was this week, and I called to see if I could come in to see her. I took two suits and two coats for her to have a look and recommend what to do. Recommendation: Don't change a thing on any of them. She said they are all in great shape with a classic look that is going to come back around in 3-5 years, and I'll wish I had left them alone. She wasn't kidding. I asked if that was code for donate them, and she told me, "No, put them in the back of my closet and come back in a few years if you need to do anything to them." She then went on to measure me giving me my suit size (41R) and cut I should look for (athletic) and cautioned to be careful with the European Super-skinny because it's kind of on the way out due to Covid weight that people have found. Who does this?!?! I'm basically standing there offering to pay her for her needlework magic. Instead she gives me free measurements and tells me to buy a couple suits to get by and come see her in a few years if I need anything. Just typing this review I'm wistful I didn't have her work on one of them just because I know it would amazing. Eileen, you are top, top class and a wonderful person. It's no surprise you're so busy with 5-star reviews. Note to anyone going to see her, and that should be everyone: there isn't a big sign above the door, so it's easy to miss it, as my Uber did, but the address is correct and worth finding. read more

Eileen is the absolute best. I brought her my wedding dress, and she made it perfect. It was a form fitting modified mermaid, and I have bigger hips and a small waist. She worked until it all laid exactly the right way. She also added beautiful sleeves and appliqués to complete my look. She is kind and so knowledgeable. I brought my best friend and her young daughter with me many times, and Eileen was always sweet with her, letting her help and teaching her how to make bows while I changed in to my dress. I loved the work Eileen did so much, I sent two of my friends to her, and they were both very happy with her work, as well. I am willing to make amends or admit when I was wrong and in this case, I feel both parties were able to compromise. I understand I was quite harsh in my initial review and maybe it was timing or maybe it was due to my review that I got a response soon after that...regardless, my experience with Eileen has been amazing. Granted it was on a tight deadline-ish ...I tried to do what I could to help her speed up the process, even if it made me a VIP there from visiting/test fitting so often. Eileen is an older lady but very accommodating and friendly. I was stressed from the wedding [was getting dress super altered for a friend's wedding] and surprisingly going to Eileen was refreshing. She was able to change my dress.....or should I essentially say "redo" it from scratch... to better fit my body type because, dear god, the so called customized dress I got ,made my chest look like it was sagging to my stomach-gross. My only gripe was that the dress should have been hemmed and that the neckline came a bit undone so you could see the material underneath. Eileen was willing to work with my busy schedule and requests on how I wanted it to look and was willing to make lots of suggestions to see what I would like. She went well over above and beyond to make my experience great. It def takes 2 to make a relationship work and in doing that, I feel it made this whole shenanigan not as stressful. In the end, I would recommend her. I had some major issues with her communication in the beginning but Eileen took my criticisms and improved herself/her business and to me, that to me is excellent business skills which def earns bonus points in my eyes. read more

She made sure I was going to get the best looking jacket possible. They are open 6 days a week so super convenient and really easy to get to being right next to the mall. Very pleased with Eileen's service. Just like many have stated she's very nice and easy to communicate your preferences with and most importantly very dedicated to her work. I mainly went to her to have my wedding dress shortened in the front but she also suggested bustling the dress since I'm not going to need the train down. Long long overdue review! Just a disclaimer, this review is for Eileen's customer service as I didn't actually have anything tailored but I just wanted to give a shout-out to her! So last year around this time, my friends and I wanted to surprise one of our friends with a Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay outfit for her birthday. Now anyone can imagine how difficult it is to purchase a fitting cosplay outfit via Ebay for themselves, not to mention for a friend as a surprise! I looked around on Yelp and this place stood out to me so I gave Eileen a call. I explained that my friends and I wanted to surprise our friend with a custom outfit that we needed measurements for, and Eileen was so willing to help! We came up with a clever reason for our friend to even consider getting her measurements done and took her to Said With Threads. I went in and had my "measurements" done by Eileen first because my friend was a little shy. My friend went in, did her thang, and we came out feeling victorious. I let my friends go ahead and I went back in to offer to pay for her time, but Eileen was so generous and refused to let me pay. I was so grateful that she would even spend time in this little charade of ours, and even more so that she didn't want to be compensated for it. Great place nice owner, But there were two things I did not appreciate. I had had alterations done on my wedding gowned here and was kinda pressure to have a lot of work done even when I felt I didn't need it or afford it for that matter. I was told at least 5 times that if I didn't ware a bra... or changed my bra, the dress would NOT fit right and that the seamstress would have to do MORE alterations. Well, I ended up not wearing a bra for my wedding and the dress fit fine. I was also charged $50 for a bustle that I couldn't even use! Not sure if they were applied correctly, but my mom, sister, and her friend, could not figure out how to keep the bottom half of my dress up and I was literally holding it all night! Literally 3 different people tried and failed.So I kinda feel cheated for my $50 bustle, and $75 breast alteration because both were completely unnecessary, and I was pressured and convinced from the owner that I needed them, when apparently I didn't. I spent over $325 on alterations which isn't cheap, and I kept getting the feeling my money was not well spent here which makes me sad because the owner was super friendly. read more
