28 years apart I've used Kim's Kustom Embroidery for my needs. This place is top notch to get things sewn custom, on polos, shirts, jackets, etc. I first went to Kim's when I was in high school back in 1993 or 1994 with my letterman jacket, and as recently as today to have them sew something on my new jacket. I dropped off a hat to add two logos, I dropped it off before Thanksgiving and never heard back from them, I emailed them twice during the next couple weeks and no response. I also called them and they said to come in the week I called, as they have forgotten about it and it would be done Friday. I went about 3 weeks after I dropped if off and they forgot again, so Kim did it while I waited. It took about 10 minutes. The logo in the front looked fine, the the rectangular logo on the back was crooked. I will never go back and do not recommend them, they forgot about doing my hat twice, and instead of one week it was 3-4 weeks wait for ten minutes of work. I paid full price, highly recommend finding someone who does better work and takes care of their clients in a professional manner. Careless work and no attention to detail. I am out the cost of the hat, logos and the $25 I paid for the sewing, so around $70 loss for me, plus my time wasted. Also not friendly at all. read more

Picked up my child's Varsity Letterman Jacket earlier today. Kim did a fantastic job with the custom work. We had an 11" patch w chenille in the back. It came out so good...kinda blew my mind at how detailed she was able to get. I'll say it was a process because I wanted to make sure everything was just right. Sizing of patches and variety. Update: It was so bad I had to go back in and ask them to at least replace the L. I would pay for it. After begging they said OK. It will be ready next week. I said they were a week late already can they do it faster, guy questioned me then looked at dates on receipt to see I was right. They mumbled something about doing it. I have no hope I already bought replacement hoodies to take somewhere else,anywhere else. I will update after I pick up my order. Seriously crying ***** Very disappointed. They said the order would be ready last week and never texted me until I called. I was quoted 8.50 and charged $11 an item. I just wanted a first name embroidered on a custom hoodie in cursive. It is not cursive. I asked why the capital L and J were not in cursive they said that is their cursive. I said that's not what I expected, it looks bad, you should have shown me a sample. BAD ATTITUDE I was picking up my orders and was not sure if the embroidery was line up, so I asked Kim. She basically told me if I am going to question her, then I should take my business elsewhere. Upon dropping off my items I was thrilled by the warm greetings and how quickly they were able to get our prototypes done. I was promptly called and went right away to pick up my 2 garments. I had to sent the vests back because they had not properly clipped the strings around the lettering and it was all frayed so they took them to the back and fixed that. I know it was rushed because were hoping to get approval to move forward with 60-75 more of the exact thing but with an order that large and a potential for a whole new customer base you would think that these people would be a little more meticulous! I guess they don't need any business. Not to mention the lettering was crooked on both the front pocket areas of the vests! $150 for absolute TRASH! I am so embarrassed to bring these back for show!! CAL GOLDEN BEARS FOOTBALL JERSEYS Growing up I had (and still have today) two Starter jackets: SF 49ers and California Golden Bears. I had embroidered my last name on both jackets at Kim's Kustom, which used to be located across from my alma mater James Logan High School. As James Logan kept expanding this place was closed down so I thought. I was delighted to find out that Kim's Kustom moved to a different location in Hayward. I own three Cal Golden Bears football jerseys of prominent Cal players that had their numbers but not their last names. The jerseys are #1 (DeSean Jackson), #10 (Marshawn Lynch), and #21 (Keenan Allen). I went here two weeks ago with my 3 Cal football jerseys to have these jerseys embroidered with those last names. I picked up those jerseys today and I wanted to say I'm really impressed with the job Kim's Kustom embroidered the last names of these players. The only concern I had was with #21 because the space on top of that jersey was narrow and I wasn't sure if the last name Allen could fit within that space. Kim's Kustom was able to embroider that name on that jersey. I can't wait for another project for Kim's Kustoms to do for me. Maybe it's embroidering the name of Aaron Rogers to a Cal Golden Bears final jersey #8 or another Cal Golden Bears theme. I needed to get some bar towels embroidered for my brother in-law's bar. (I come from a family of lushes, so when my Irish brother in law remodeled his garage to a fully functioning bar, my dad actually cried a bit). It was the eve of his birthday party and my dumb ass forgot to do the towels. I got a recommendation from our very own Luis M., whose friend owns the place. I called her up and semi-begged her if there was anyway to have them done by today and she was more than willing to oblige. I cannot tell you how awestruck I was by her customer service. I go into her shop and there are samples of her work everywhere. She does great stuff. You can come with a picture of anything and she'll embroider it for you. Finally! Someone who can do my screaming skull eagle with flaming lightning blot wings future diaper bag!! The prices are a bit hefty though. (20 per towel to get "The Feisty Wench" stitched in, ouch) But it was worth it for the service and the look on his face when I got it. That night I drank 4 Irish Car Bombs, about a pint of Glenmorangie 18 year Highland Scotch Whiskey, 5 pints of Guinness, 2 Jagerbombs (don't ask), 6 Kamikaze shots, 2 snake eyes, and then my own liver begging for euthanasia. So 2 embroidered bar towels: $52 = getting shitty in a private bar for life..... fair trade. P.S, while you're waiting for your stuff, Kim will dish out the dirt on Mr. Lou.Eazy himself. I came here last week needing to get sash done for a Graduation the following day. I thought the sash wouldn't get done in time since it was last minute. But, this place certain pulled through because I ordered the sash to be embroider around 10 am and immediately after 2 hours, I received a phone call informing me that the sash was already done. I'm genuinely surprised that after Kim's has basically supplied the letterman jackets to the athletes of the area's high schools, they don't have more 5 star reviews. My brother and I have both gotten our jackets from here as it's "the place where everybody gets their letterman jacket" and there isn't really a question as to why that's the case. There are other places you can get your letterman jacket, but when you take a look at the ones made from Kim's Kustom next to those, the other ones look awkward. Being a cross country runner as well as track distance runner, I'll attend many invitational meets with many schools, so I'll see other athletes wearing the lettermans from their areas, and the ones from Kim's just look so much better. Of course you're paying top dollar for these jackets, but of course that's because you're getting the premium. The only ever problem I got was that the jacket took one business day more than estimated, and that was understandable as I took my jacket in to get updated during the week when everybody else decided to get theirs updated. read more

My older siblings have both gotten their varsity jackets done at Kim's when they were in high school and when it was my turn, there was no question where I would go. I was in band in high school (yes we can get lettermans too) and would get a couple patches every year so after every season, I would come to Kim's to get my jacket updated. They have always been really helpful about patch placement, embroidery, and showing you all your options. (Varsity jackets are ridiculously customizable.) They even shoed me a saxophone patch which I'm probably a little too excited about. My mom and I went in a couple of days ago to finish my jacket and to get her her own... She's been a teacher at Logan for over 20 years and graduated from there also so she wanted something to kind of signify all she has done for the school and vice versa. Roy and Kim were very helpful like always. They answered all of my mom's questions and catered to everything she wanted. They really know their stuff! I'm glad all the high schools in the area have people as knowledgeable as them! read more
