The meal was accompanied by a rice/cabbage portion which was "to die for". All I have to say is that I could not stop savouring the amazing flavours of everything. The grandmother who prepares much of the food gave me a sample of ackee, a Jamaican fruit along with some luscious mixture of cod, along with a nice portion of bread fruit! Accompanying me were friends from Nova Scotia, one being a lady friend who was born in Jamaica. She had only excellent things to say about the meal. The interior of the restaurant was minimalistic, but very tastefully decorated with some neon lights, giving it a very cozy but high-tech ambience. In the future, I would like to try the chicken in brown sauce, which is pulled chicken simmered for hours in a brown sauce, imparting a very savoury flavor. I had the opportunity to try the pulled chicken from the plate of one of my friends, and was very , highly impressed. As I said before, I really couldn't stop eating a lot of the food once I started. That doesn't always happen in many places where I dying. I definitely will be coming back to this wonderful restaurant, and enjoyed the very warm greeting and conversation that I received from the proprietors. The prices were very reasonable, and I definitely will be a regular! Don't miss this newcomer to the St Catharines restaurant scene!

Stumbled upon here as I was searching for hidden gems. It's a shame more people don't know about this kitchen. Came in on a Saturday night around 7pm. Ordered the Blackened shrimp po boy and the Szechuan Udon with shrimp which has noodles stir fried & tossed with veggies in a spicy Szechuan inspired sauce. Both were tasty. Seasoned beautifully. Had lovely colored and delivered with every bite. Honestly it was so good that two hours later I came back and ordered food for my family. They licked the plate clean. I got them the Creole Seafood Eggrolls and the southern fried shrimp po boy. There's a few seats outside the restaurant but most people take it to go it looks like. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Slide thru. It won't disappoint. Plus it's Black owned. Bonus info! If you don't wanna order in person you can get it with grubhub, door dash, and other delivery platform

We were looking for cajun food and stumbled upon this hidden gem. When I say hidden, its hidden tucked inside an old industrial building (with zero street signage) that now houses a bunch of pop up culinary surprises. On the second floor tucked in the back corner you will find Far East Bayou. This casual take out restaurant, is a fusion of Southern New Orleans and Korean flavors. The chef was extremely friendly and ready to take us down his culinary journey down the bayou. I ordered a bunch of different dishes for my husband and I to sample: Shrimp Bo Poy - blackened, shrimp po boy- fried, crab hush puppies and honey cajun udon noodles. Everything was extremely flavorful! The sauces were out of this world. They had a nice spice on them. Not a spice that sets your mouth on fire, but spice that is flavorful and enhances everything else on the plate. The fried shrimp was super crispy and the cornmeal breading was perfectly seasoned. My only complaint is the preparation of the shrimp. The shrimp are prepared with their tails on, which made it difficult to eat. We had to dig through the sauces and toppings to find each shrimp and pull the tails off . I learned the owner makes his own kimchi, which is made using more spices and vegetables and less fish. He allowed me to sample some, and I will be dreaming about this kimchi tonight! I will definitely be coming back to try their rotating specials menu, and grab some more kimchi!

There were twelve people for a 6 course vegan menu. While the menus aren't always 100% vegan, they can do a full vegan option at any of their pop-ups if you provide advance notice. Everyone sits together at one table. All meals are gluten free and BYOB, so feel free to bring wine to share or beverages for yourself. The meal was thoughtful and vegetable forward. There's nothing like this in Buffalo, but lots of places serving food like this in bigger cities - Chicago, Philadelphia, NYC, LA. The restaurant is really cute with amazing artwork and decor to admire. THE FOOD: Lentil soup: - The lentil soup was amazing. It was bursting with flavour and one of the best lentil soups I have had in a long time. It was both gluten and dairy free. Falafel - The falafel was the best falafel I have ever had! It was crispy and served with hummus. I really like how the falafels were heart shaped. The presentation was really nice and I would come back to enjoy these. Chicken Platter: My fiancé ordered the chicken platter and he really enjoyed it. The platter comes with salad and hummus. He found the chicken super tender and the salad was delicious. Both of us had hummus and found it robbed mediocre. Halava: - The halava was super sweet and made with pistachio. It tasted delicious and it was the perfect way to end our meal. Would We Return? Upon entering Tomah I was immediately greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter. I was free to sit where I pleased. He immediately brought water and a cup of tea complimentary. The tea was amazing, full of flavor and sweet. I only ordered Syrian Shwarma and requested an additional drizzle of pomergranate syrup and an order of Muttabal and asked if that was enough and should I order more. The waiter, insisted I try the kibbeh and would bring me one. The food came out promptly, first the muttabal which I can say might be better than when my Syrian mother in law makes it! The Shwarma came out and that was amazing, it was juicy and the spices and dressings where perfect. To my surprise the waiter brought out the lentil soup, kibbeh and falafel to try. The were delectable to say the least. The ambiance during the lunchtime was quiet, however after some time Arabic music was put on, and wasn't too loud, but just right as background noise to enjoy while you eat. The cushions were a Syrian style of sitting with arm rests almost like pillows. I will be back, and I will recommend anyone to come here and get a "Taste of Syria"!
