man, i love alamin. it's super unassuming and not the most visually stunning restaurant ever, but they cook up some damn good food. friendly staff. the charcoal-grilled pomfret is stellar. the fish is cooked perfectly with a lot of that grill flavour coming through, topped with garlic and herb-spice sauces, and served atop a lot of lightly-fried basmati rice. at $16, this dish is not budget-friendly, but i do recommend it. a lot of middle eastern restaurants will season their chicken shawarma a lot more than alamin does, but alamin's is still delicious and has a really nice clean flavour to it. they use good quality chicken, and it's cooked to a tender texture. their falafel is unique with some kind of hot sauce added to the fava/chick pea mixture. extremely crispy, almost too much. i like my falafel with more prominent herb and spice flavours, but this one is still worth trying. alamin is definitely a must-try for fans of mediterranean and middle eastern cuisines. just don't expect too much from the decor read more

Walked in, the place was freezing and looked dorty overall. Was hopeful because of the yelp rating, but don't make the mistake of going to this place. We ordered the chicken tikka plate and the tiffin burger (chicken shawarma). Family ordered fries and chicken shawarma. They said they only thing good were the fries. We left the place unhappy and with half full stomachs. The chicken tikka was not even cooked and was solely masala and curry. There was no chicken, because even themselves they knew it wasn't cooked. We told the cashier it was bad and he said "no, it's fine". He essentially forced us to eat the bad food. We only ate the tiffin burger because we hadn't eaten for 18 hours. ONLY REASON. I'm rating this in the category of takeout restaurants as this is not a fine dining restaurant (there is no wait staff for example and limited seating). That said, this place offers great meals at great value. It is a departure from typical Indian restaurants as it provides a mix of different cusines. I came here with my family of 6 and we ordered a number of chicken dishes all of which were delicious - there was not a single item gone to waste. Just neh...i thought you can't really have bad shawarma as no matter what it taste delicious. Well this place proved me wrong. We had burger -dont get fooled with picture, looks nothing like the actual burger- it was just neh, meat was somehow cold. Sauce had no real taste to it. We also got chicken/beef shwarma plate. Lots of rice. Meet looked fatty. Supposed to get garlic sauce with it. Not sure what was the sauce that I got but not garlic. The owner was really nice. Just maybe should stop cooking. read more

Just stopped in for a late lunch. So happy I did. Had the lamb curry. Wonderful! First bite was a bit spicy, but not so much afterwards. Had to order some basmati rice to put the curry on, it tasted so much better. Too much to eat though, now I have leftovers for dinner. Will certain introduce my friends and family to this place. Just received my order, chicken shawarma and beef plate ordered off skip the dishes. Wow I actually received a container of about 80 percent white rice, I requested extra veggies and garlic sauce, there was not even enough to fill half a pita... the veggies that were sent were three onion slices, two slices of pickle and some ice burger lettuce, no turnip or tomotos, total disappointment... garlic sauce is not even remotely close to garlicky.... never again never again read more

Ate here recently with the wife after trying many Indian style food restaurants in Hamilton and being constantly disappointed. Now judging by the reviews they lack skill in some dishes but my wife and I ordered the butter chicken, naan bread and tandoori chicken. The flavour of all the items was very delicious, we felt we shouldn't have to pay extra for naan bread but when it came out it was very fresh and obviously made there. The tandoori chicken was also very tasty. Usually Indian food places overdo the spice that's put on but this place got the right level of flavour in our items. Over all satisfied, owner is a good guy, very friendly. Will come again for the butter chicken. read more

If I could rate their food any lower I would. I have ordered from many middle eastern/Persian restaurants in Hamilton and this is by far the worst. Our butter chicken dish had 6 pieces of chicken that were clearly just taken off of a chicken skewer. And the container had less then a centimetre of the oily sauce in it. Everything tasted so bland. Recently back from Texas, came across this Mediterranean spot. This place was very clean, but empty. We were a little hesitant to stay but after we ordered was glad we stayed. The food looked good and tasted great! Even though they served Mediterranean and Indian cuisine, there definitely was no overlap of cuisines. Will be back soon. read more

Entirely avoidable! The place is tagged as a mix of Mediterranean and Indian, but it doesn't seem to imbibe the best of both... I ordered (take out) butter chicken and seek Kabab entrees plus 3 naans. The butter chicken was too sweet, not well prepared, the seek kakabs were extremely dry and with oily rice and the naans were fat giant pitas. I won't be coming back again... read more

Owner is friendly and outgoing, the food is pretty good here. I have no complaints other than the portion sizes could be bigger. My girlfriend had the butter chicken which was good, but really could have had more than 7-8 little pieces of chicken. Sauce was great, rice was good...just a bad ratio. Could have just been a bad scoop. We have been 2x and will go back again. We find slightly better value up the street at La Luna Express, but we like the taste at both places. Upper James is highly competitive and it takes a lot to stand out. Sadly this is the storefront of death that opened as "Bakers Dozen Donuts" back when I was much younger. It has been about 45 different things since then, hopefully this guy can make it stick as he's a really good guy. I will continue to go there once every 3-4 months. read more

Not satisfied at all. Order took well over an hour and a half to arrive. We have never had an order go well from this restaurant. They forgot to give us drinks previously and also the container had basically exploded in the bag when it was delivered to our house. Also the owner or manager or whoever was pushy and aggressive and was not friendly. Do not by any means go to this restaurant save your money and time for some place worth it. read more

We are visiting Canada from Florida, US. We stopped here on our way to Niagra Falls from Toronto to grab dinner. I'm glad we went here because not only this place serves good Indian/Pakistani food, but they also serve delicious Middle Eastern food. I had the Sheesh Kabab platter with rice and a side of salad and it was phenomenal. Rice was flavored with their special white sauce. My wife ordered a Chicken Shawarma and she loved it. My 4-year old loves his desi food, so he had Chicken Curry and Naan. This was probably the best Naan we have had in years. We don't have good desi restaurants in Florida let alone a restaurant that serves good Naans. The gentleman who served us, Baathen, is really nice. Towards the end of our dinner, Baathen brought our son a small Tow Mater car, which is a nice gesture. All in all, this place serves scrumptious food with excellent customer service. We have a long day planned in Niagra Falls tomorrow, but if we have time, we will surely make a stop here on our way back to Toronto/Missisauga. read more
