Chicken Shawarma sandwich
Noheli R.

I visited La Luna with my sister and mother this past weekend on our way to Toronto. We arrived at 7:00pm not realizing that they were closing at 8pm that day. However, the staff were really nice and still greeted us and encouraged us to come in and dine. This was my first time trying Lebanese food and must I say... what a great first experienced. For an appetizer, we got the humus and pita. OMG, so delicious. That was probably the best hummus I've ever had. It was so flavorful and delicious. For dinner, I had a Caesar salad with chicken. I was surprised when my salad arrived with marinated chicken as this was new for me. I'm use to having it with either sautéed or grilled chicken. Must I say, it was very delicious. The meat was tasty and went well with the Caesar salad to my surprise. My mom and sister both ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich which they thoroughly enjoyed. The sandwich was a nice size! Overall, we had an amazing dinner and would definitely recommend this business. If we ever stop through Hamilton in the future, we will definitely be revisiting La Luna!

Lentil soup

My friend had pre-ordered food for our large group so it was a different experience from just walking in and ordering. I believe there were 4 different types of meat skewers that kept being brought to our tables. It was never ending. The meat was cooked well and not dry. There was at least one that was on the saltier side. It was meat overload with some pita, hummus, fries and rice to try and balance it out. We finished off the meal with some delicious baklava. It was just the right level of sweetness; sweet but not feeling like you'll get a cavity the next day. The servers came at the right times to remove extra plates and skewers so that the tables weren't so cluttered as the meal went on.

It's always hard to gauge prices in a foreign country, so while it seemed significantly more than a shawarma takeout, it was a delicious meal. I paid $26.48, USD, for an upgraded salad and mixed grill, including tip and tax. This was a decent sized meal for two people, but I'm guessing it was intended for one. All the ingredients were fresh, high quality, and I would have licked the plate if it was socially acceptable. I would certainly come back for more next time I'm in the area, as the service, food, and atmosphere were superb.

Manakeesh: Spinach

really tasty Lebanese food, we started with Falafel (4/5), crunchy but soft, tahini sauce matches it well; Baba Ghanouge (4/5 for the paste, 0/5 for the pita came with it), you can taste the smokes eggplant from grill, the pita came with it was really bad, chewy not fresh, better just eat Baba Ghanouge. Manakeesh: Feta with Zatar and Manakeesh: Spinach (both 4/5), the dough was hot and fresh, nicely done, it is my first time try zatar - I like it! except the bad pita, everything else deserves 4 out of 5.

2016 The best La LUNA in HAMILTON! Seriously the tahini sauce is the best! Fatouche not sure of spelling but the salad is the best! October 2017 Went into get the usual order but for takeout! The chef must not have thought that when I order the dressing on the side it should include the pita crisps also because then they would also make it soggy! I was chatting with the new guest ordering take out and I happily suggested a few things ! It's too bad the staff were not as excited! One of them yes came into help the new person. The food was not as exciting as it usually is ;(

Closes container of the ful medames. Massive!

I've looked into this place quite a few times and have always been a bit turned off be the prices. I've gone to so many Lebanese places and have ordered meals for half of these prices. However, I was really craving some ful medames today and decided to check this place out. First off, this place has parking, which is awesome considering its location. It isn't big, but it wasn't busy when I got there. Second, it's huge! It's definitely big enough for large parties, but also large enough to be alone somewhere. To each their own! I came in for takeout and of course was still taken aback by their prices for their main courses. I decided to get the ful (fava bean dish) and a kafta sandwich. I always get kafta whenever I eat Lebanese food, so I had high expectations. Man oh man... First of all, the sandwich was quite large and filled with lots of veggies. Most importantly though, the meat was cooked perfectly! It was juicy and flavourful. The combination of the vegetable and the tahini was proportionate and was delicious. The ful was amazing. It was large and had veggies on top. They always gave me two pitas to eat with it. I was really impressed and really enjoyed it. Overall, the food that I tried was excellent. I'm not sure I'll ever try their main courses, just because of their steep prices (hence the lost half star). I might be hungry enough one day though, who knows. I paid about 14-15$ for both items, which I found was worth it. The interior was nice and I had a place to sit while waiting for the food. The service I received was minimal, since I had takeout. However, the waitress that took my order was really kind, whereas the one that handed me my order didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all (other half a star). Regardless, I would definitely come back to try some of their salads and probably be back for the ful and kafta.

It's too bad that this evening's experience will probably keep me from experiencing the great food other Yelpers have talked about. The only way I will EVER go back is if the owners or mangers reach out to me and offer me the meal that I went there for today, on the house. I don't expect that to happen, but I feel as thought I just wasted an hour of my time and $30 of my money. They don't have cups with lids and straws, which I could get past. The appetizer we had was delicious! I believe it's called Mohammes. It was made from cooked chickpeas and fava beans and was a good change from hummus, though slightly similar. The restaurant was clean and the menu board presentation makes you want to try everything they have. My server tho... She brought out the shawarma that my wife and sister ordered a half hour before she brought my food out-and it was wrong. The menu stated that the sausage dish would come wrapped in a pita. I expected that it would look like the shawarma, just with sausage instead if the chicken or beef. She thought that I wanted the appetizer even though when I ordered, I pointed out the item I wanted on the menu itself. I know that mistakes happen and if she hadn't made so many if them, I could have lived with it. Before the entrees had come, I asked for small plates for our appetizer. She never brought them. She also never refilled the water glasses. She was very unattentive and her excuse was that she was new. That didn't make me any less thirsty, or make me need extra plates any less. It also didn't remove my hunger or my disgust for the unappealing small pile of sausages with slices of tomato and cucumber that she brought me to eat as my dinner. I'm sure this place is better than my experience. When my money is involved, I like to think that the reward should be greater than the risk. I now know the risk and I'm not sure it's worth my time or the money if be asked to pay

Checked out the Hamilton Spring Pottery sale and decided to stop here for lunch. Nice open space decorated tastefully. Ordered Manakeesh with cheese and Zatar, Fattoush salad, hummus, and Lebanese sausage sandwich. Menu says you have to be patient to wait for good food. Ordered at 1:45 and food came out approx 20 minutes later which is pretty good. All fresh and made to order. Definitely worth a trip back next time I'm in the area!

It was crispy and served with hummus. I really like how the falafels were heart shaped. The presentation was really nice and I would come back to enjoy these. Chicken Platter: My fiancé ordered the chicken platter and he really enjoyed it. The platter comes with salad and hummus. He found the chicken super tender and the salad was delicious. Both of us had hummus and found it robbed mediocre. Halava: - The halava was super sweet and made with pistachio. It tasted delicious and it was the perfect way to end our meal. Would We Return? Upon entering Tomah I was immediately greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter. I was free to sit where I pleased. He immediately brought water and a cup of tea complimentary. The tea was amazing, full of flavor and sweet. I only ordered Syrian Shwarma and requested an additional drizzle of pomergranate syrup and an order of Muttabal and asked if that was enough and should I order more. The waiter, insisted I try the kibbeh and would bring me one. The food came out promptly, first the muttabal which I can say might be better than when my Syrian mother in law makes it! The Shwarma came out and that was amazing, it was juicy and the spices and dressings where perfect. To my surprise the waiter brought out the lentil soup, kibbeh and falafel to try. The were delectable to say the least. The ambiance during the lunchtime was quiet, however after some time Arabic music was put on, and wasn't too loud, but just right as background noise to enjoy while you eat. The cushions were a Syrian style of sitting with arm rests almost like pillows. I will be back, and I will recommend anyone to come here and get a "Taste of Syria"!

It was quite spacious with lots of tables. Customer service was good and the food was decent. I called to order for pick-up, and the lady who took my order sounded nice, pleasant, and accomodating (was able to customize the Grilled Vegetables to be non-spicy). Order was ready within 30-40 minutes. The Lemon Garlic Shrimps with Rice was very delicious! I could taste the garlic, and it came with a little bit of sliced bell pepper and mushrooms. I liked that the rice was fluffy and seasoned, with some peas and diced carrot. This main dish came with a side (either Lentil Soup or Salad). I chose the House Salad (just iceberg lettuce and tomato); it came in a container all wet and soggy because they had mixed the dressing in. In other places where I've gotten salad for to-go, usually they kept the dressing separate. Cauliflower & Tomatoes and Grilled Vegetables were overcooked (very soft and limpy), and covered with too much tomato sauce. They were still tasty, but I wish they weren't so saucy.
