I can't not wait to come back to Katy to experience more of what Akiko has to offer. For some people it could be very overwhelming as you don't know where to start. Now for me...I was a little intimidated at first but after asking the waitress what she suggested...she steered me to a few rolls and items I should give a try. And I opted for a few items off their $7 menu of fatty salmon and tuna which both melted in your mouth. I was sad they didn't have ocean perch a single as I really wanted to try a new fish. I also, grabbed an order of spicy edamame as I have to have some veggies when I dine out. The roll I finally decided to get was I can't remember the name right now, but had all my favorites: salmon, tuna, and cream cheese. I also had nigiri yellowtail as I can't go eat sushi without having my yellowtail fix. I really wish I had (3) stomachs as I wanted to try a few more rolls. But after the Cabernet Sauvignon (3) glasses and the nigiri rolls I had I was too full to consume anything else. I can not wait to come back because it was so much more to partake and try that I know I will have to make at least 3-4 trips to go through the entire menu.

This was a great place for dinner! Not too fancy for a mellow date night and I would definitely…read morehave felt comfortable dressed up as well. Server was very kind and infotainment as well.

I particularly want to mention how helpful our server was; they helped us successfully navigate the menu and were incredibly attentive and quick to respond despite the restaurant being packed. Enjoyed the Hamachi-wild caught yellowtail, Sake Toro-fatty Scottish salmon, and grilled corn to start. Followed up with Sunset scallop and dragon roll. For drinks we had the mocktails. The manager and the rest of the staff were also very attentive throughout our meal. While I didn't manage to capture many photos of the main courses, I did make sure to get a picture of the delicious dessert! Absolutely enjoyed the matcha dessert. Not overly sweet.

Five pieces of nigiri + soup & salad for $25 was a pretty good price, and they also have 7 piece, 3 roll/HR lunch set options as well. The ratio of rice to fish was just right. I also got to try their agedashi tofu, which was served beautifully, and the Japanese melon + a desert that I don't remember the name of but it was probably creme brulee + vanilla ice cream. These were all good, but the nigiri was the main star. Their HH menu also looks enticing, so I will be back to try that! Service was very attentive and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. The interior of the restaurant is sleek, dark, and moody with a touch of earthy accents which i loved. They do valet parking, but you can also just park nearby in the garage and walk over.

First and foremost I love the overall atmosphere of this place. Service is always pretty good. Don't get me started on the food. I honestly don't have that many pictures because I get too excited to even remember once the food comes (haha). Love everything that my mouth touches from here. Wings? Love em. Shishito peppers? Yummy? Oysters? Chefs kiss. But the real star is the crispy rice. Will always love this spot.

I had seen on social media that they were $2 martinis so they must have recently changed it. We were immediately seated and greeted warmly with a bottle of cold water. They were good about checking to see if we were ready to order with reminders that their daily happy hour was ending at 6pm. We ordered the oysters, grilled oysters, chicken wings, nigiri, spicy edamame, and gyoza. Everything came out great. They were, however, not the best so I would not want to pay full price. My favorites were the chicken wings with its super crispy skin and sweet but savory sauce, and the oysters you can't go wrong with. I also got the lychee martini which was decently strong. The location is in the River Oaks District shopping center. There is free self-parking in the garage not too far from Azumi itself.

If you like buttery flavor (more fat) cut of meat, then this is for you. Other must-orders are king salmon and chopped scallop nigiris. We also had otoro, sea bream and butterfish sashimi. You also can't go wrong with their ramen selections. We tried ordering oxtail ramen (their special of the day) but it was out so we opted for Nagasaki (seafood) ramen again. Plenty of parking spaces, no valet. Definitely perfect for fancy date nights, business meetings, family dinners and special occasions.

From the specials menu, we started with the spicy garlic coconut milk mussels made with fresh Prince Edward Island/British Columbia mussels in a rich spicy garlic coconut cream sauce, topped with green onions and served with toasted ciabatta bread. The broth was incredible and packed with flavor. As an appetizer, we ordered the Texas Wagyu Hot Stone Bowl -- the only rice item on the menu at the time -- made with rice, egg, kimchi sauce, tawan mushrooms, sesame, and green onion. It was prepared tableside for us, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. We also tried the Spicy Soy Ramen with braised ground pork, chili oil, soy milk broth, soft boiled egg, wakame, green onion, and micro cilantro. The flavors were rich, comforting, and had the perfect amount of spice. The Nagasaki Champon Ramen was another standout with clams, shrimp, cabbage, pork, onion, ginger, and micro cilantro in a flavorful broth that tasted fresh and authentic. The restrooms were very Japanese-inspired and beautifully maintained, adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Gabby was an amazing waitress -- attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire dining experience even better. Then there was dessert: Green Tea soufflé and chocolate milk bread pudding! I hope i get a picture of it!!! Service is GREAT! Drinks are filled. Needs are met- and exceeded!!!0 Parking is self parking, but it was worth it. We will definitely be back again to try many more items on the menu! Come early if you want to hear your partner it gets LOUD!

Zach the chef was also very knowledgeable as well and presented each dish beautifully. Started off with the "Alive" cocktail which was a tequila based drink. Pretty strong and refreshing citrus taste! Ordered the the 4 Temaki set which included Hotate, Salmon, Negitoro and Crab. My favorite was deff the crab handroll, had a yummy buttery taste. Extra handrolls we got the Steak & Eggs handrolll (taste just how it sounds and the steak was nice/tender) and an extra Crab Handroll. Also, got 2 diff Donburi's which is the Negitoro Donburi and Bluefin Tuna Donburi (SOOOO worth it, it had Akamai/Chutoro/Otoro and all melted in your mouth and was fresh and paired great with the sauce it came with). The rice overall, was seasoned and cooked great as well. To add on the side, we got their chilli crunch which was a nice topper for our hand rolls. To end the night, we got the Raspberry Kakigori (super soft ice and refreshing). Pretty close to Japan! Seating was a very chill vibe with vinyl players and good music. I ordered the three hand roll set with a maguro hand roll add on. If I had to rank them, it would be: 1. Hotate:The lemon zest pairs incredibly well with the scallop. 2. Salmon: Super creamy thanks to the sauce. 3. Maguro: Also creamy from the avocado. I personally do not prefer avocado in my hand rolls, but it was still good. 4. Negitoro: A little fishy and more plain compared to the others. Overall, the hand rolls were very generous with both rice and fish. I was a bit surprised by the side of pickles since I usually expect ginger and wasabi, but the pickles were a game changer. The hand rolls did not need soy sauce because they were already full of flavor. The service was attentive, and they even offer warm towels at the beginning. Overall, this is definitely a place I will be coming back to regularly.

The sushi itself was very good, but unfortunately the service and misleading Uber Eats listing…read moreruined the experience. The salmon sashimi photo shows 6 pieces, but when you order it you only receive 3. That's extremely disappointing when you expect what's advertised. While the quality and cuts of the fish were great, expectations were not met based on the pictured item. :/ I'm currently in the hospital and had been looking forward to sushi my entire pregnancy, so this was especially frustrating. My husband picked up the order, and the man at the counter was rude both times. The first time, my husband simply asked to confirm whether sriracha was included and was met with an attitude. The second time, the order was placed on the counter without any acknowledgment or confirmation before the employee turned away. I myself cannot speak for the ambiance as i haven't been in person but this alone is enough to keep me away. We're glad I'll be discharged soon so we can return to our usual sushi spot--Sushi Hana in Katy, which has never treated us this way. Come here if you're only looking for sushi and have low expectations for service.

After being seated, I informed the waiter that I would place a to-go order instead. About 20 minutes later, our food was ready. At that point, our daughter woke up, so we hoped to continue dining in as originally planned. I politely asked the waiter if we could finish our meal there. We didn't expect him to continue serving us--we simply wanted to sit and eat the food we had ordered. I had already tipped him on the to-go order. His response was blunt and shocking: "No, you have to leave. The table was given to someone else for a 7:30 reservation." There was no attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative--just a direct order to leave. This was a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy, and there were outdoor tables and other seating available. We felt incredibly insulted by the attitude. When we spoke to the manager, he simply repeated that the table was reserved and backed up the waiter, without suggesting another table or even asking us to wait for the next available one, until we brought up the point that he could have asked if we have an option to wait for the next table?? Then the manager went ok do you want to have another table just because we asked. What stood out most wasn't the reservation issue, but the complete lack of hospitality, flexibility, or basic courtesy. This experience spoke volumes about the customer service here, and unfortunately, it's the reason we won't be returning.
