I have had Saffer fix plumbing issues in the past. I did not ask for an estimate or call other plumbers because I feel that they did a good job and were very honest. i called them a couple of weeks ago to unclog a toilet. The pumber first used my plunger and then used his snake which took about fifteen minutes and cost $650 dollars. In my opionion that price is outragious. read more

Our basement floods when tree roots get into the septic pipe. Root destroyer normally helps but it did not this time. I emailed Saffer because the website said they are open 24hrs. No answer. I had to call to talk to someone. They came in the time window they said they would, cleaned the roots out of my septic pipes, and put a camera down them to see where the hole was. They did not want to talk about patching the pipe (a cheaper option) but ripping up the entire system. I received quotes from other plumbers afterward and discovered Saffer charged me 2-3x as much ($1158). And I am still having flooding problems, just not as bad. So, the plumber came to my home to clean my clogged kitchen drain. First, he used the snake machine over, and over which didn't work in cleaning out he gunk. So, he plunged the sink with such force that the black gunk spilled onto the underlayment wood of the kitchen cabinet and destroyed it. After doing the job he ran down to the basement and obviously saw the black gunk was dripping thru the floor joists onto the floor and it had splattered onto the front of my dryer. He never apologized or offered to clean HIS MESS up. He was very unprofessional and performed sloppy work deliberately creating a mess that I had to clean up and replace the flooring of the kitchen cabinetry due to the awful putrid smell. They are very UNPROFESSIONAL and SLOPPY to say the least!! HIS actions are bordering on CRIMINAL MISCHIEF which violates the Plumbing code of the State of Maryland. Saffer Plumbing I ordered a new water heater. 2 Safford plumbers came to the house and uninstalled the old one. Then they waited for over an hour for their supplier to bring the new heater. (I guess it's too much effort to bring one with them.) Their supplier brought the wrong one. We waited another hour and a half for the new one, which they installed. But, oops!, they forgot to bring the flu pipe. Waited another hour for one of them to run to Eastern Supply. I also had a leak in the dishwasher discharge hose. They replaced that, but didn't check their work. I ran a rinse cycle and, yep, still leaked. Walked out to their van to tell them it was still leaking. Oh, sorry! They came back in the house and fixed it, didn't seem to leak anymore. This morning there's water all over under the sink. Still leaks. Of course it's Friday, so they won't come back till Monday. Am I impressed? You could say they left a strong impression. Not a good one. read more

HVAC condensation in our house had originally been routed into a drywell, which had started flooding. We needed a condensate pump to route it properly into a drain, which required new wiring as well. Our water heater was many years past replacement date, so they recommended we replace it during the same visit. We decided to switch the heater over from gas to electric. I just had a great experience with Caleb from Saffer. We had a clogged upstairs tub drain in our 100+ year old house. Snaking from the top was not working. Snaking from below is never recommended cause chances are you're going to get wet and messy but Caleb was willing to try from an access we have in the basement. After cutting out a tee section in the historic pipe he was able to clear the clog with minimal mess and put in a replacement elbow that will function much better for the future. He saved us from a bigger investigation into the walls to find the issue and I'll definitely be calling Saffer the next time I need I need service. read more

They came and fixed an issue with my garbage disposal but their pricing is not consumer friendly at all. For a 10 minute job (like removing some food and attaching a pressure pipe back to the disposal, which YouTube showed me takes 2 mins) they charged me $207. Absolutely ridiculous, and after I paid, I called them to see if they could offer any discount or new customer coupon or something because I felt the service was not worth that cost, they told me that since I already paid and I didn't dispute it before, they couldn't do much. The actual technician was nice though. But there's ton of other companies out there that won't charge as much, and will actually try to help you when you bring up a concern regarding pricing. We needed to have a faulty faucet replaced in the guest bathroom. This was a very tricky job, backsplash needed to be removed, vanity top needed to be removed, my cabinet was not a friendly cabinet to deal with. Tim handled this job with ease. I had an appointment today to secure two toilets that were rocking (imagine rodeo potty!) and a sump pump that has never worked since I moved in 1988. The location of the sump pump is in very tight quarters, underneath a basement staircase through a very tight squeeze around the laundry tub. Gary P. was my tech, and he made some miracles happen for my home today! The first toilet, once lifted, had some incredible things underneath and was attached to a flange in such a way that was truly insecure. Quite possibly, with the right move, the toilet could have been lifted directly off of the flange - while trying to just stop it from moving. He fixed it! The second toilet was a much smoother fix, which he also did incredibly well! AND, that sump pump. He had one in the truck and was able to fit under that staircase and replace what was there with a wonderful model that now only allows one directional water flow! Things you just don't know until a seasoned professional points them out! I am incredibly grateful for the detailed explanations, the responsiveness and knowledge Gary has, and how clean every area was left (even outside of the front door where he had a sticky mat to remove debris from his shoes before coming into my home!). Saffer Plumbing and Heating completed work in my condo in Reisterstown, MD. There was an issue with the contractor hired by Home Depot so I found my own plummer on Yelp. Saffer installed a new dishwasher and garbage disposal. The installation was completed two years ago and there have been no issues. They were not cheap however when you find a company that does impeccable work it's worth the money! I hired them again last year due to a different Home Depot contractor who took shortcuts when installing a new gas stove. My tenant discovered a leak and called the gas company which confirmed. Home Depot did give me a store credit for the price I paid for the installation because the company would not rectify the error. Thank you so much Saffer for coming to my rescue! After decades of wonderful service and pricing from Saffer Plumbing, I just paid $388.00 to replace a $8.98 fill valve on a toilet. I only agreed to pay this exorbitant fee because I was about to have 100+ people in the dwelling. Suffice it to say, I will never call them again. Which is very sad as they were the best for many years, in my opinion. Knowledgeable, dependable, and with reasonable (not cheap, but fair) pricing. No more. My water pressure was really low in my home, and I didn't even realize this until I called Saffer Plumbing. They sent Rick Wright out to assess my outdoor hose bib (which I realized was flawed when I had a new irrigation system put in for my garden). Rick identified the problem, and did an overall assessment of the plumbing in my townhome which is 15 years old. He offered a reasonable price, including a discount for paying up front. They are not paid by commission, so there was no incentive for him to "sell" me more plumbing work other than to help me. Another great experience with Saffer plumbing Last week I needed to have a new main gate put in as part of another repair because the old one was corroded and unusable-- ever since then I have had a hum coming from the pipes. My 80 year old sister who is a widow had her sump pumps alarms go off. She was so upset not knowing what was wrong. I called Saffer and told them her issue. I was instructed to have her call because she was the home owner so they could send someone out. She had pushed the button on the system to stop the alarm and the technician explained to her that was all that was needed because apparently her power had gone out briefly during the night setting off the alarm.
