I liked that everything wasn't locked up. I wasn't planning on buying anything. My friend wanted to come here to pick up some essentials. While browsing the aisles, the one deal that caught my eye was on the large size of Post Great Grains cereal on sale for $1.99. I thought it was a great price for a big box of cereal and they had different flavors as well so I had to pick up a few boxes. I came here earlier in the day so there wasn't much of a line with one cashier working. It was nice to see another cashier open up when there were three people in line. My cashier was nice and I was out in no time. The best part about this store compared to other CVS was that you didn't have to worry about parking. Plenty of free parking all around since the location was in the El Cerrito Plaza.

Last week, the pharmacy drive-up window was closed, no one in the pharmacy would answer the phone, a medication refill I ordered was canceled without explanation (happened before). I had my doctor send my scripts to Amazon Pharmacy, and they were delivered to my door in TWO DAYS. This is not an ad for Amazon Pharmacy. I mention this because of the comparative efficiency. Imagine not being able to get life-saving medication because your pharmacy is ignoring calls and canceling medication orders with no explanation. I'm done with this place.

In this case, I placed an order on Walgreens.com for 12 items and was willing to pay a shipping charge since there were 12 items and I could spread out the relatively high shipping charge across those items. When the items arrived, guess what? there were only five items - but they still charged me the full shipping charge and cancelled the rest of the order. Had I known that they would do this, I never would have placed the order. I would've placed it from a competing company. When I called Customer Service and asked for a proportional refund of the shipping charge, I was told that there was no way to refund it because I had not ordered enough items to trigger free shipping. They also told me that I had ordered an out of stock item - but there was no way for me to know that I had ordered an out of stock item because the website didn't tell me that the item was out of stock. This seems like a relatively straightforward scam: allow the customer to place an order that cannot possibly be fulfilled, then charge the customer a surcharge which cannot be refunded, then deliver the customer less than what they had ordered and give only a partial refund. When I asked who was responsible on the customer service call, they told me that the items did come from the store so that is why this is the place that is receiving the one star review. But I suspect that the Walgreens e-commerce team is the guilty party here. In any case it looks like my one star review won't do much additional damage to this location since it is already in the dumps on Yelp. If you are a consumer protection advocate or a journalist, feel free to contact me for additional information.

There are only two employees running the entire front area, and apparently, that's not enough to get the case opened in a reasonable time. It's disappointing because this store is just a mile from my house, but it's changed so much. The shelves are often bare, and the overall experience has gone downhill. If theft or "shrinkage" is such a big issue, why not have a security guard or another solution in place? Something really needs to be done to get this CVS back on track.

When I called I got a set of recorded questions I had to reply to, but afterwards the only reservations they would provide were via text messages which my land line phone does not accept. I was unable to contact a pharmacist directly on this issue, either, and after several vain efforts was hung up on each time by the automated system. This horrible telephone "service" forces customers without cell phones to go in person to the store just to make a reservation.
