They are located in a beautiful new property off of Sycamore and there is easy street parking . Checked in and customer service was great . Had my tests with the optometrist and went to pick out my frames. They have a good selection for their size. Did all the measurements and my glasses will be ready in 2 weeks . Dang, why such low reviews? My experience was nothing but fantastic. Greeted with amazing hospitality by Jojo. Had all my forms filled out from home, was able to walk around and look at frames while I was getting checked in.. Anysha took me into the eye exam room did some testing then Dr. Lau came in for the complete exam...went well! Jojo assisted me with my insurance and the frame size... Got the best for my eyes cause I am outside a lot and need something better to protect them & driving at night. Paid $315 out of pocket would of been less if I didn't get the works to have glasses/sunglasses combo w the UV combo...I can't wait for my glasses/sunglasses to be ready and will buy another pair later read more

Dr. Milner is a really cool eye doctor. He is always in a good mood and makes you feel comfortable. I like that he does not mind when I ask a bunch of random questions about how the eye works. A very nice and "glamorous" looking place, but also expensive too, even with great Government VSP Insurance coverage. Three permanent receptionists monitoring the front desks and multiple examinations rooms, but only one attendant doctor per day on rotation. I suspect that it's a resident doctors' training facility and not a boutique facility that they are trying to give patients the illusion of. Optics are everything and your first and last instincts or impressions as a new customer. read more

Joseph is amazing! I was a little agitated because my glasses took an additional week for arrival and I hadn't received an update, so when I called I know I was a little pushy. He was so calm, professional, energetic, and attentive that I dialed back my negative energy. He checked to see if they had arrived, but they hadn't. He told me he would follow up with me within the next couple of days because the weekend was approaching, 11 o'clock on Tuesday morning I received the call that I've been waiting for! I called to let them know that I was on my way to pick up my glasses, and when I arrived, there were a couple of people ahead of me. He asked if I had a minute to wait. I told him I had to be at work within the next two hours, and he got me in, got me out and made me extremely happy. I just can't say enough positive things about it. Marina, the office manager, lacks professionalism and does not know how to treat patients as people rather than monetary transactions. Her front office staff made a billing error because they failed to bill the correct insurance. I have had the same insurance for years and never had issues with the former office manager, a very experienced and mature woman who was detail oriented. When I brought the billing error to Marina's attention she insisted this was my error until I fully explained step by step. Instead of apologizing, she told me "it was a mistake" but made no efforts to rectify the situation. I'm out of pocket $130 for exams that should have been insurance covered! She became belligerent and defensive when she realized I was correct. Due to her poor customer service and inability to take responsibility for her staff's mistakes, the doctors here are losing patients and business. Also beware that there is no direct way to communicate problems to the doctors such as a personalized email or voicemail. Today when requested to speak with Dr. Milner about the issue above, Eduardo, the front desk person told me the doctor does not directly speak with patients. Such an odd response considering this is Dr. Milner and his wife's practice and I'm sure they are interested in retaining patients! read more

So let me say my family and I have been going there for years, we love the Doctor and the staff that has been with him for sometime are awesome. Recently there is a young newer girl and she lacks customer service. She has forgot my wife's prescriptions and recently I called because I needed a check up and my eye had been crying and watery (defiantly not pink eye.) She refused to make me an appointment and stated I had to have my primary care physician look at my eye before they would make my appointment. So I called my doctor who said it was not a problem he could handle and referred me to another optometrist who solved my eye issue over the phone. It was allergies and required an antihistamine drop (OTC.). Needless to say her lack of customer service was very notable and she is not nice like the other staff members. I really have to consider if my family and I will ever go back. read more

She always understands what I'm looking for and is so kind in helping me pick frames (which takes me two trips sometimes so her patience is amazing lol) and is great at explaining why certain frames will or won't work with progressive lenses for your face shape. I never feel rushed with Vidi and feel like I'm talking with an old friend. She also answers all my insurance questions in a way that's clear and easy to understand. I've been a patient of Dr. Milner for many years now (8 years perhaps), and I have always appreciated how easy and pleasant my annual eye check-ups have been. Even though I usually come for late afternoon or early evening appointments, I never feel rushed. The doctor and staff are always very attentive and take time to explain their findings and recommendations. The prescription eyewear I've purchase throughout the years, I've used to their full potential :) and I have no complaints at all. I had my annual check-up last month and I felt very safe (despite the current pandemic situation we are in). So, I broke my glasses and needed a new pair. I haven't purchased glasses for at least 10 years, so looking to change my style up a bit. I've tried the glasses app as well as "trying" glasses online, but wasn't too sure about pulling the trigger until I was sure. Buying quality glasses aren't cheap, so I decided to go into some retail shops to put some glasses on to see what looks good on me. I come in to this shop because it is a few blocks from my house and I love patronizing local. Most glasses have numbers on them telling you the arm length, bridge, and total width, but not the height of the lens frames. All the other shops I have visited have told me the height measurements without any problems except for this place. They have the never to charge me $20 to take a ruler out and place it against the frames so I could get the height measurement!!! Hate to see how much they charge you if you just sit down? Or ask a question? Need the restroom? It'll cost you! How can small local businesses ever stay in the black with policies like this!? read more

Made an appointment almost two weeks ago only to have Marina call me the night before my scheduled appointment to say that they need to reschedule. I work a 9-5, business hours so in order for me to make room for appointments I need to clear out my whole day from work. I asked why couldn't they take me in for my appointment and why wait the night before to reschedule, she simply said there was no doctor available. Marina didn't apologize or seem sympathetic at all. I would understand if they caught this a few days in advance not the night before. I would not recommend this place, no professionalism. read more

Dr. Lau is wonderful. I can't say the same for the staff. I had an appointment two weeks ago and have been waiting for my sample contact lenses to come in. I called to check on the status and was told they haven't come in yet. They called me back to tell me the wrong order was placed, so they placed the correct order and they should arrive next week. Almost sounds like they never placed the original order (which would sound better than placing the wrong order--bad either way, but fess up if that's what happened). After reading comments where this isn't uncommon, I've decided this will be my last visit with them. I wanted to support them as a smaller business where I live, but I'll be going back to Eye Love in Pinole. read more

They deserved an updated review, my previous review was frustration for waiting for trial lenses for over a month but a back order shouldn't reflect this place as a whole. Dr. Milner is just wonderful, he's kind and always so patient when it comes to getting the prescription just right for my eyes which are overly sensitive to everything. I was even able to finally convince my husband to go in to see him for an eye exam for his first time in years and he had a great experience and is very happy with his new glasses. For the lovely ladies in the front that have been there for a long time they're always very sweet on the phone, they know their stuff, know their patients and are on top of everything. Everyone was very Welcoming, it was my first exam in I don't know how long and it was a great experience. Everyone was wearing the proper Covid-19 protection, very nice, and the doctor was great. well I was not seen by the doctor so I cannot speak to that. This is all about the front desk and rudeness. I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of customer service. I had an appointment scheduled I knew I was going to be slightly late for the appointment because I had a car issue. I called and said I will be slightly late and that was fine I got off the phone got the car going got there no more than 10 minutes late I walk in and they say we're not going to be able to see you. 10 minutes late. And I called and they said it would be fine. And their excuse was well another patient came in in those 10 minutes so apparently they don't schedule the appointments very well. In fairness I was late but that is still absolutely ridiculous I was a first-time patient but I will not be taking my business there because of that level customer service the standard then that's below my standard. read more

This was the worst total purchase experience I have ever had in buying glasses. From the start, the receptionist was weirdly confrontational. After my purchase, I found out the order was wrong. Only to be told there was no true error, but it was obvious the initial lens they got back were not what I bought. Instead the receptionist berated me on how I was wrong. However, a few days past and I was informed that in fact the order was wrong. No apology no nothing from the receptionist that was in fact in error. To make matters worse, the second pair I got to correct the initial order was the same pair of lens I initially got. As people like me can go anywhere to buy glasses, I will never go back to this place, and will inform anyone who asks me to stay away from the rude environment, and ridiculous receptionist. In short, I have bought a pair of glasses I will not use....as the lens are not of the correct material I bought. I am a very very busy person. I don't have time to go back again and go to round 3 with this place. So I have decided to just not use these glasses, and make sure my employer knows this was not a good purchase experience from top to bottom. My advice to the ownership here is to be more involved in the day to day operations, as people like me do not return. My family, and friends in the area will not return to buy glasses here as a result of this bad business. read more

Had to get my glasses done twice and had to get my prescription like 3 times. Wasn't the greatest experience like my first time there. My first time there was awesome so decided to give the place another try but this time contacts where wrong prescription was wrong had to have the lenses on my glasses remade twice. Younger guy was great but the older guy lowered my prescription and it wasn't the best experience with him. Frames are limited not as big of a selection as before. read more

I just came in to look for a frame that I liked and was hoping this could potentially be my new optometrist. I guess I was wrong. I came in with my prescription wearing scrubs (I'm part of the health field too) and the 3 receptionist or optometrist assistants came out towards me and was informing me about how if I didn't have insurance then I CANT TAKE A LOOK at certain frames. Working with insurance and being part of the health care profession, I understand how things work but because I have my prescription from another office they were not welcoming. When they saw me in scrubs they were kind of rude. I know in their hearts they mean well but the way they presented themselves was not compliant. This place is a joke. I went through the online process to request an appointment, and received a call a bit later. I missed it, and called back about 5 minutes later to confirm my appointment like they asked. The girl on the phone confirmed my appointment for 6:15 PM. Day of my appointment, I was about to leave my house to head over there, when they called me and told me my appointment was at 5:45 and I missed it. They didn't care that they messed up scheduling my appointment. They waited until 6PM to call me. If they called me at 5:50, I could have been there at 5:52...I literally live two minutes away. Instead they waited until it was too late for me to have an eye exam before their "other" 6:15 appointment, which was now not mine. They should have found time to schedule me in tonight to correct their mistake....or even on Saturday. Instead the only appointment they could offer me is one an entire week later. I will NEVER do business with them. They don't care about their patients at all. Instead of trying to remedy an error they made, they try to make you feel bad or that you misheard them and it's all your fault. read more

Prior to my arrival the receptionist made sure my coverage was clear and that I would understand my responsibility. Once I arrived they had a whole folder for me and were very helpful as I navigated the assortment of glasses. I did not do my exam there but they were organized in taking my prescription and finding something that met my needs, my look and my budget. I literally created a yelp and never used it but this is why.. for a shitty ass experience ... If I could I would put no stars and angry faces. Let me say that I have been going here since forever and got my first pair of glasses here and so has my entire family but now I'm pissed and I think they did something very unprofessional and scam -ish...just to get my money... So I recently just got a new job with a new insurance and I suppose I should have checked but I trusted my optometrist to tell me since they always explained everything very thorough... I have always worn glasses and never tried contact before.. so I came in to get my exam and asked the opinion of what they thought about me trying contacts.. they looked up my plan and said I do have it available... I said I was interested them to Only Wear MAYBE once or twice a month... So I was still going to get glasses no matter what... and I said this as well and they didn't say anything until I went home and tried the contacts and they were honestly more trouble to have than not... now the exam seemed to me the exact exam I have had for years nothing different besides explaining how to put on contacts.. My brothers have them so I knew already from watching them... So I called and said I didn't like them and that I wanted just get my glasses.. they said that I had to pay out of pocket for the exam over 100$ when I was going to get it anyways for glasses!! seriously?! such BS and such scam so disappointing and basically I'm forced to get contacts... its the stupidest thing I ever heard... and after my appointment they didn't even want to give me my prescription... seriously?! wow... anyways ... first review ever on yelp and just cuz of this...I'm so pissed I want to put reviews everywhere... read more

My family and I have been coming here for years, getting our eye exams done and purchasing glasses. But the administration women up front have no sense of customer service or knowledge of keeping customers happy. I purchase glasses from them every year and I came in to purchase a single pair of contacts and they act like those pair of contacts are going to come out of their paycheck. Just because I want to purchase my contacts through a cheaper competitor, they don't want to lend a pair of contacts. And it's not like I was asking for a free pair of contacts, I would happily pay the $12 they ask for. I have never in my life heard a doctor turn down a customer who needed their prescription. Dr. Milner was standing right there as she refused to sell me my prescription without purchasing a box of them, so he doesn't care to keep customers either. I would suggest going elsewhere like insight optometry. They seem to have better reviews on Yelp anyways. read more

I had my annual eye exam, and am given a new pair of contact to try on even they know that VSP doesn't cover yearly. I was charged $100 when finished. The office should have always warned the customers that if they try on new contacts which is not covered by VSP before they let the customer try the new lenses instead of make customer to believe it's a Free trial! read more
