Very disappointed with our experience here. My husband was charged a $50 rescheduling fee after having to move his appointment due to a work emergency--a fee that was never communicated or agreed to beforehand. Then, when he tried to call ahead to say he'd be five minutes late to the rescheduled appointment, he was told not to come because they were closing. That charge was then sent to collections, which is absolutely ridiculous given the circumstances. I had also previously spent nearly $1,200 on two pairs of glasses here and was told I could reuse the frames with updated lenses. But after my annual check-up, I was shocked to be told it would cost another $600 just to replace the lenses. On top of that, my husband's glasses had to be repaired FOUR times before they were finally fixed properly. This business is also not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, which I wish we had known sooner. We truly wanted to support a local business, but it feels like this place is more focused on squeezing money out of people than actually helping them. The reviews about this optometry store seem pretty accurate. Dr. Hsieh is pretty thorough and knowledgeable. This place is somewhat different than other places in that the frames are locked up and an assistant gathers the ones you want and suggested frames. This was not a problem for my visit. I ended up choosing one that she selected. They are also pretty good about not pressuring you to buy there. They were pretty open to replacing lenses in old frames with new ones as well. read more

'Rodeo drive' pricing on Pinole Valley Road. I'll start with, I love the doctor. He is very thorough and clear and I walked out happy with my exam. Purchasing frames was a different story. My insurance covers $150 for frames (which I was told by the ELO tech, is pretty standard). In the past, other offices guide me to the section of frames that are within that budget because we haven't gotten to the cost of progressive and UV treatment, scratch resistance etc. . The least expensive pair of frames ONLY is $195. So, for giggles, I asked, with the lowest price frames + all the 'bells and whistles' that need to be added on how much would I be paying? The poor girl gringed and said 'you're gonna hate me' (I believe she said her name was Luna and she was delightful)....just under $600. YOWZA!!! So I decided to pay my exam fee ($39) and take my prescription with me. Before I left, I asked if the pupillary distance was on the prescription paperwork, (this was needed the last time I ordered on line). The sweet girl cringed again and said 'if you don't buy glasses from us, it will be $40 extra for that information'. The last office I visited, happily provided that info with no extra charge. Sooooo, if you are on budget and don't have kids, pets, gas, bridge toll, mortgage etc. you may want to shop around for frames. It should be 3.5 star rating. read more

I work in pediatrics in our community, Pinole and Hercules. Two of my clients recommended this place, said it was great for their kiddos (toddler ages) and great for them too. So I gladly went here when it was time for me to get best exams and contacts. The ophthalmologist or optometrist I don't remember which-- shushed my daughter twice. Absolutely rude as hell. She was sitting calmly in the chair as I had my exam, singing twinkle twinkle at an acceptable volume, even quietly because I explained already to use inside voice. She was waiting as patiently as a 2yr old can possibly manage. It was CLEAR he was annoyed by her and just couldn't focus on what he was saying. So instead of expressing that he turned to her and loudly shushed her. Twice So rude. The only in me is the only reason I didn't get on him. I was observing and was disgusted. I can't believe my clients referred this place (and yes I updated all my clients about this experience) He seemed to have no tolerance for a child. He also told me the contacts I like were old technology, recommended some others. The recommended ones were so terrible. I couldn't keep them in for the day. It's weird to make a judgement like that and the provide crappier lenses. It felt... like he was going to get a kickback. Idk. It was weird. As I've said I work in pediatrics, I work in healthcare and I'm aware when something feels a bit insincere and that's how the whole visit felt. The staff was quite kind though. All this to say-- I will make a point to tell all my clients about this experience when they get referred to a vision specialist. Highly disappointed and still irritated to the point I'm leaving this review months later. I won't be back. I had my husband cancel his appointments there and my daughter will never go there. Do a bit better when it comes to children. Don't work with them if you can't tolerate them and don't have patience and kindness. read more

(I wore my first lenses for two years then the second and third exam every year after that) This location is nothing compared to going to (my past experiences) Sears Optical, Lenscrafters or even your medical hospitals optometry which I've been to all throughout my childhood and early adulthood - up to these recent visits to Eye Love Optometry. I've been examined by both PARK L. HSIEH, O.D. and Gaganjot K. Sidhu, O.D. both are very detailed through the examination and answering any questions or concerns about my eyes. Now if you're interested in glasses but not sure if it'll fit your style/vibe or want to get out of your comfort zone, ALLISON is the one!! Now I'm not one to splurge and can be picky on a budget. I WAS also the type to keep it plain-Jane cause black works with everything in my opinion. However, she guided me on so many styles and have changes from a boxy black pair of glasses to styling with simplicity and still looking and feeling brand new and confident with every pair of glasses thanks to Allison! Natalie made such a great impression that I scheduled an appointment after meeting her. She was an ace at finding the perfect frames that are both stylish and comfortable! From the start, I was really impressed with the COVID precautions. I felt totally safe while visiting! My eye exam was extremely thorough and Dr. Hsieh was great about explaining the differences in certain prescription strengths. Additionally, he caught a retinal condition that an exam by another optometrist just six months prior (at another business) did not identify. On his advice I immediately sought treatment and it was really crucial that I did before it got worse. I truly felt that he was paying close attention and treated me as an individual patient, not just another appointment in his work day. I worked with Allison to select my frames, and she was so helpful and attentive! She listened to my preferences and made great suggestions to help me narrow down my selection. I have a strong prescription and she was very informative about how it might fit in certain styles of frame. She was very knowledgeable and communicative about the process. Additionally, she was totally fun and friendly. She made the whole process enjoyable and smooth. The frame options here are also incredibly stylish and current - I visited many other shops and struck out before finding Eye Love. I am looking forward to returning for additional frames in the future, because there were so many great options it was hard to pick just one! I had my exam with Dr. Hsieh and he is incredibly informative and kind. Even on a busy he took the time to answer my questions and provide a lot of useful information on how to take care of my eyes. As far as picking our frames - Aidan was INCREDIBLE. He was so fun to work with and had so many great suggestions. We were able to find a great frame that I fell in love with. His help was so meaningful because I had a lot of insecurities around wearing glasses given how much I got bullied for it as a kid. Came here because they are in our network, things started off great the gentleman was very friendly and assured us that they did things differently than lens crafters. My wife is Asian and has issues with frames sliding off her nose, so I asked if they had any Asian fit frames, he immediately corrected me saying that that's not a proper term... ok fair enough I'm in my 50's and not up to date on what's politically correct as I should be. I'm not sure if this set the tone for the rest of our experience but when my wife asked what she was on the iPad he said you need to read it, and walked away to help a guest who had just arrived. Nice staff, state of the art equipment but I was charged $425 for an eye exam to renew my contact lens prescription!!! Costco charges 1/4 their price for the same service. My last optometrist was completely covered by my insurance My Eye Med insurance plan referred me to Eye Love as part of their vision service. I tried their location since it was more accessible to me than my previous optometrist or Costco. Eye Love tried to upsell me $45 to use their special equipment to avoid having my eyes dilated. I declined but then my eyes were never dilated with drops anyway. I have always had previous optometry check ups completely covered by my insurance. I won't be a repeat customer to overpriced Eye Love. read more

In fact, I showed up to my initial appointment, ready with opposition. during: welcoming, friendly, and confident. -The staff and optometrist were very friendly and made sure I knew my concerns, needs and desires were going to be addressed. They provided a service with such confidence /knowledge that existing issues I had, were no longer. post: thorough, proactive, professional. - Technology focusing on preventative measures and maintaining the health of one's eyesight is available and should be used and definitely not ignored. they made sure that all tests were explained and made sure I was well educated/informed on what each test was either intended or what result was desired. this office/team. I left my office visit, knowing their objective was only for my benefit. Not once did they try to sell me on anything. a service with preventative measures and my educated / informed decisions proved to be their objective. A new set of frames/strengthened prescription wasn't any surprise to me. another need of mine easily met. Definitely not lacking in an eyeware selection. choosing a style/brand was easy... after a few many questions, they were able to direct me to a specific brand/ style that almost matched my needs at 100%. style, durability (much needed) and lens adaptive functionality. (yes, i just made that phrase up. however, in my head it gives the description I was looking for) I say almost 100% because within a day or two I broke my glasses. And it was not an easy task. I am the one special person that holds the ability to manipulate a set of frames beyond any other possible shape; all while in my sleep. It would be like winning the lottery for anyone else to do what I was able to do with a set of frames that were made to resist deformation or breakage. yes, I'm that good. they will be seeing me again real soon. A Very Good Experience! I have specific eye health needs, we all do. This is why it is important to find an eye specialist that understands the specific needs YOU have. This past week I went to Eye Love. I'm a established patient there. So going in I know they have my most current eye health history. This office has state of the art medical equipment. I knew that going in. The doctor can look at the health of my eyes and the optic nerve year over year. This is important to me because of my specifc eye health needs. Eye Love has better eye equipment than most if not all other Optometry offices in West county without exaggeration. Adian is the Office Manager at Eye Love. He is responsible for the eye wear. I shared with him last year the need to expand the eyewear options. This year I had to choose from five different looks that I loved and looked good on me. That was nice! My glasses arrived in about a week. All of my special needs were met in my slick new 2019 fall collection frames made in denmark with lens thin as can be with all of my needs chocked in the lens. I found Eye Love because they were one of the only places that would accept my vision insurance and I thought I'd give them a try. My preteen child was the first person in our family to see Dr. Hsieh and I was skeptical of the myopia diagnosis he gave to my kiddo, which requires expensive contact lenses to keep the condition from progressing. I then took my kiddo to UC Berkeley's eye center for a second opinion and they not only agreed, they charged more and I walked away with a less precise prescription. Compared to what I thought was a world class optometry facility at Cal, I realized that Dr. Hsieh was much more detailed and exacting, uses better and more state of the art equipment, and provided way better service and care all around. Not to mention my child also ADORES Allison who is so good with kids, friendly, accommodating and treats my entire family like VIPs. Really, she's a big part of the reason my whole family now goes to Eye Love. When it was time for me to have an eye exam, it was on time, efficient, easy and best of all, they didn't force me to get my pupils dilated! I opted for a scan which cost $40 extra but kept me from being in pain all afternoon with my dilated eyes (and they didn't push it on me, they were totally happy to dilate instead). After the appointment, Allison helped me pick out cute frames and the whole experience was awesome. I did spent a bit out of pocket for extra anti glare coating and the blue light special (or whatever that is that they do to protect my eyes from my demonic computer that I'm tied to all day). I think those upgrades might be cheaper in other shops - I kind of remember anti glare being $95 at Warby Parker but it was $195 at Eye Love. So if you're on a tight budget you might want to shop around for frames and lenses. I'm so grateful for my off brand vision insurance that no one else would take, because had I not had to scour the entire bay area for an optometrist covered by my insurance, my family and I never would have found Eye Love! read more

I always believe in second chance and yesterday was my done. I understand after Covid people struggle with building relationships. I am disappointed with the customer service at this office. I had such great hopes of returning but it through the door. They need to really examine their business plans. The first situation: they charge our insurance, checked me out and told me I was done. I later get a call they there are all the fees they did not discuss with me. We I brought to their attention I was dismissed. I had to go back to the office and examine this not how you do business. Tell me everything before you check me out. This last situation: I need to reschedule. I tried calling but the hours conflict with my work hours. You can only reschedule if you call. The day of the appointment I final got through. I explained my situation and tried to reschedule. The was no understand, no compassion just a simple oh well we have to charge you. That was it for me. I hope that fee was worth the business of 5 people and their products. I was trying my hardest to support a local business. I guess they don't need it. They have a very limited selection, only high end/low quality. I found a better selection at Costco with better customers service! read more

This review is long overdue! I discovered EyeLove in 2016 while looking for an optometrist that better suited my needs and standards. I have been a patient and client for 6 years and will continue the relationship because of the outstanding customer service and care. To break it down: The environment: When you walk in you are greeted with a clean and aesthetically appealing environment and friendly faces. It doesn't have that typical dry medical office feel which makes me feel instantly bored. Then you notice all the latest brands and styles and attractive staff, and you realize, this is going to be fun! Dr. Hsieh The top three things I really like about Dr. Hsieh is: 1) it's obvious that he is passionate about the care he is provides and enjoys what he does. It is not pleasant to get an examination from someone that does not enjoy what they do! 2) he is very communicative about the process and what he is seeing as he examines your eyes. He made me aware of a few things that my previous optometrist did not tell me about 3) his overall demeanor is friendly and engaging. Dr. Hsieh is also very attentive in general to what is going on in the office and ensures that the clients are happy. The products and staff I'm very particular about my eyeglasses and sunglasses and this place has everything I want-edgy styles, great brands, and lost of choices. I don't believe I have walked out of that place purchasing less than 3 pairs, usually two regular eyeglasses and a pair of fresh sunglasses (see pics for just a few I have purchases). The way I see it, if you have to wear glasses, they may as well be awesome and part of your "look". Regarding the staff-I have never worked with people that put as much thought and effort into choosing the right frame for your face and making the experience fun than the experts at EyeLove. I have worked with both Aiden and Allison, they are both extremely knowledgeable about the products, have a great eye for style and what works on your face, and are very patient while you agonize over all the choices.
