I had a smooth experience here with Dr. Yu and also decided to grab new prescription sunglasses here too. They accept VSP. Scheduling an appointment was super easy and a lot of slots were available. Intake forms were completed on my own via online link, so I didn't have to sit around waiting for too long when I arrived for my actual appointment. My prescription was emailed to me same day without me having to even request. Point Richmond Optometry is not pushy at all about purchasing frames from them. It seemed like they couldn't care less and they didn't have much of an opinion either when I asked which ones looked better on me. However, it is refreshing to go to an optometry office and not feel pressured at all about buying frames. They offered to show me the selection that was covered under my insurance and explained the prices of add-ons. I did in fact end up getting new frames from here though because I didn't want to bother shopping around elsewhere and I knew Point Richmond Optometry could get it all done. read more

I've been on the search for a new optometrist for a while now, and finally came to Point Richmond based upon my wife's experience and recommendation. Everyone here from the receptionists to the doctors are all very friendly, professional and thorough. Dr. Yu was very friendly and personable, and I definitely felt much more educated regarding certain past optometrist recommendations that was never explained to me in great detail. At no point was I ever pressured to purchase any frames here. And as my prescription did not change much since my last check-up, was even suggested that I could skip replacing the lens this time around unless I really wanted to update them. Love the professionalism, kindness, and level of detail and education surrounding my eyes and eyewear that was presented. And definitely will be making Point Richmond my future optometrist into the foreseeable future! Free parking is available at the street level, and generally has not been too hard to find. read more

Dr. Asmus did my exam and was thorough, patient, and kind. She also has a cool hip aunt vibe :) The staff at the desk are also very nice and are not car-salesman-like. The eye technician also was nice and patient! Honestly I've got nothing bad to say. My last place got flooded with bad reviews because of garbage management apparently so i had to find another place ASAP before the end of the year. This place took me in within two days. Booking an appointment was super easy. I will continue recommending this palce to all my coworkers and friends!!! I was in need of new glasses and decided to try the closest optometry to my work. So close it was walking distance, so perfect for after-lunch appointments. I normally get vision tests at Kaiser while glasses are usually at Costco. At some point, you just get tired of the take-a-number system and long lines. Also, my free time is increasingly limited these days with an energetic 2yo. Point Richmond Optometry is appointment-only, and its great they respond quickly by text. Their selection of frames is not as big as Costco or Lens-crafters, but I found what I liked. Ultra-light, Ray Ban plastic frames that feel great, almost like nothing's there. Service was great as they'll bring several styles for you to try, based on your preferences. You'll need a separate appointment for fitting adjustments once the glasses arrive, just under 2 weeks in my case. You'll get glasses, cleaning solution, towelette, and a chocolate bar.
