I've put off reviewing the store for several years because it's my neighborhood Safeway and I want it to be successful. So this is overdue. First, make sure to be on the lookout for rotten food, especially produce. On a pick up order. I once got a bag of spinach with green liquid in the bottom that was two weeks expired. More recently I accidentally bought a bag of lemons, most of which were so rotten that my finger poked through one when I reached in the bag. I've also seen packaged goods on the shelf well past their expiration dates. You'll want to check your receipt carefully, as well. I've never been one to do that, but have had to learn to with this store. On my most recent trip, I bought 14 items and was overcharged a total of $8.50 on four of them. First they ask if you clipped all the coupons, as though their mistakes must be the customers' fault. Adding insult to injury, you have to return to the store to get back the money they've effectively stolen. Since this happens so often, you have to wonder if they're really mistakes, or just part of the business plan...because they're just not making enough profit on the already obscenely expensive prices? Finally, last Thanksgiving, I visited the meat department to buy turkey parts rather than a whole bird. When I could find none, I asked a very nice meat department employee who said she was told "if we do it for one person then we have to do it for everyone." ??? I called back later and was told it was just a misunderstanding with a new employee. But again, I had to go back to the store a second time, time, frustration, and gas on me. In general, the customer staff are great and I feel sorry for them having to deal with so many screw ups they likely didn't create. However, when I asked how there could be such old spinach on the shelves and how it made its way into in my order, the answer I got was, "Just laziness to be honest," So maybe I'm being generous. Anyway, shop here at your own peril, check the produce and expiration dates carefully, and review your receipt before going home to save yourself a second trip. We like this Safeway. They recently redid their parking lot which looks nice and fresh. The guy at the butcher is always helpful and friendly. The store is clean and well-stocked. We always leave happy. In fact, we like this store enough that we got our wedding flowers and bouquets from their floral department, and they looked fantastic! The minus one star is for our experience today with the woman who worked at the self-checkout (Saturday July 20) at 11:25AM. We told her there's a mistake on white corns. It rang at the regular price, not the sales price as marked (see picture), so we asked her for help to adjust the price. She was very reluctant, ignored us and stood at her own monitor for a while. We're not sure how long it's gonna take for her to perhaps checking out the "price" so decided to take a photo and showed her. She's like ok...then took off some amount but she clearly doesn't know how to do simple math. 2 corns for $1 = 50 cents each so 79-50 cents should be taking off 29 cents. She subtracted 20 cents per piece. At that point, we didn't want to debate over such a trivial amount so we just paid. This sounds very silly, but we just wish this Safeway always gives our 5 stars experience but she's clearly the weakest link. read more

I recently moved here from Tacoma, and Safeway has always been where I shop. I was pleased to see there was one within two blocks of my new home. Well, I have never been treated so badly on so many different occasions as I have at this store, and it's why I drive all the way down to Fred Meyers to shop now. I've had the lady at checkout, and the person who was assisting her be so nasty every time I've gone in there and what's worse, is I always end up with them! Don't even get me started on those people in the deli. I honestly don't think I've ever been treated so badly in my life. I actually watched that woman very closely just because I was afraid she might do something to my food. It's hard to believe people can come to their job and behave that way. But I guess it's just shows what kind of management they have that allows it. The straw that broke the proverbial camels back was when my son came home and told me how ugly they were to him. I can handle people being nasty to me, but I won't tolerate it being done to my child. I chose somewhere else to shop to keep the peace and keep myself from any legal trouble! Safeway, you need to close down immediately! You're not serving any useful purpose. If people are made to feel like trash just buying their groceries, close your doors and find something else to do where you don't have to interact with the public. read more

Always check your receipts! I've been double charged on a few occasions but didn't notice until I got home. Always check your groceries for pick up! I didn't receive about $30 worth of the goods I ordered and my refund request was denied. read more

I can't tell you the number of times I've left this store and told my husband "I hate this Safeway". The only reason I go is because it's the closest to my house. Even then, I only go when I don't have time to go elsewhere. I try to avoid it if at all possible. They just have a bad selection of products and the store layout makes no sense. Do they have buttermilk? According to their app, yes. Do they have polenta? Again, according to their app, yes. What about Good Culture cottage cheese? Yes, but they never have it in stock. Why the heck can't they put where items are located in the store? They have the capability of listing the item in the app so it makes no sense to not indicate where to find these items. If you ask an employee, all you'll get is a half assed answer like "I think it's in the baking aisle". I don't know how they stay in business. read more

Nice folks work here but definitely not the brightest. One of the items in my cart was supposed to be marked down as it was on my card and showing available in my Safeway app on my phone. The guy had a hard time multiplying $1.02 x 5 without getting flustered and reaching for his phone to do the math. I blurted out $5.10 when I saw him sigh and get frustrated. I probably sounded like a jerk but I mean c'mon, your one role here is to work the cashier. Basic math is (or should be) a requirement. Gas is consistently cheaper than most other gas stations in King or Snohomish County. I like this location of Safeway - it is large and has a nice big parking lot with plenty of spaces available at all times. read more

This Safeway is the closest one to my home, so it is very convenient, but every time I go in there is an issue. Almost, on every occasion at least one self check out stations is malfunctioning, during the Monopoly game the cashiers seemed extra annoyed, and they seem to be understaffed at all hours of the day. I went to their floral department to get a bouquet of roses wrapped and surprise surprise they had three employees at the counter. No one wanted to help me so they passed off wrapping my bouquet to a teenage boy, which was fine but it was obvious he was really nervous. It did take a while to get my bouquet wrapped (he was new) but the two other staff members were rolling their eyes at each other and didn't offer to help the young man. In front of me they were whispering on how slow he was... how rude is that? read more

Tried to exchange some bad turkey and they wouldn't accept it. Admittedly, I did not have a receipt and that's their "policy", but I had the card I purchased it with, and as everyone knows, someone somewhere has the ability to look it up. I shop there almost exclusively and the people there all know me. If I wanted to steal turkey, I could do so far more easily than trying to do it as an exchange. Went grocery shopping today and was in the deli isle when I noticed a women approach several customers asking for money with a small sign that said help me please. 3 store employees stood near her and did NOTHING. This is not Seattle, this is Kenmore. I told her that she should be doing that outside not in a private business. This store is just poorly managed and they let anyone do whatever they want (complete lawlessness) - We have long known if you have to go to a grocery store at night you go to the Juanita Safeway because the Kenmore Safeway is sketchy at night. Overall management and employees have no pride in this store, that is why people do whatever they want. Employees just go through the motions for a paycheck and start watching the clock as soon as they get there. I have to say it's worth it to drive four extra miles just to get plastic bags. Paper and plastic. Plastic and paper, please. I reuse those plastic bags 10,000 times. Okay, okay--pardon the hyperbole. Like, if we stop using plastic bags, the glaciers won't melt and we can stop global warming in its tracks. Yeah, right. Gimme a break! I love the nice drive out here. Very well stocked by veteran Safeway employees who know what they're doing and never let any issue go unchecked. Today I came out here for the soda special, $12 for three 12-packs. The same 12 packs are $18.50 each in Kotzebue Alaska. No bull. Summary: this Safeway epitomizes everything consumers hate about Safeway in general. The stale and heartless shopping experience is at its absolute pinnacle at this grocery store. Aside from the pharmacist, who seems to have her stuff together, nearly every employee I have encountered seems to be a burn out. If you happen to go through the store, notice how few employees are smiling. More importantly, everything from meat to seafood to the bakery presents itself as lifeless and manufactured. They take no risk on ingredients (i.e., the random things that challenge us to cook different foods) and their organic section is awful. They charge $8.50 for a gallon of organic milk. I mean come on. There is some intangible lack of originality about Safeway that has always bugged me. It feels so forced, and it's a shame that nationally this organization is so big when they seem to have completely missed the boat for what consumers want. If North Korea actually has fake grocery stores with plastic food, the store would be a great model. Poo on Safeway. Post script: thank you Safeway for ruining another night by not staffing cashiers enough. Grocery outlet has a better rating than you and there's a pigeon in the store. Seriously. You guys are awful. Awful. Post Script 2: yet another completely miserable experience at Safeway. Understaffed and long lines for no reason on a Wednesday night. Perhaps there is an actual reason, because the terrible leader ship there chooses to have an adequate staffing which puts more time on consumers. This is an odd review for me to write- my first one since we've been living in this 'new normal'. First off, I've never set foot in this store! It's a smaller store from what I can tell. There is a nice big parking lot and they have Safeway gas. I've used their grocery pick-up service three times now and it's AWESOME! I order everything on the app. Note: There are two Safeway apps, one for deals and one for shopping, make sure you download the right one! The app is really user friendly and easy to shop on. I usually put the order in the day before I want to pick it up and they have plenty of times available. They'll send you a text when your order is ready. They have dedicated parking spots for grocery pickup. I just call the posted number when I arrive and the drop the groceries in my truck! NO CONTACT! Super easy and they're always really friendly. I enjoy shopping at Safeway. Especially, the pharmacy dept is great. My experiences has been outstanding that Lily and her team needs to be recognized. This is my neighborhood Safeway and I often shop here weekly and now more often since we are planning to get pregnant. This afternoon, I went in for multiple reasons one being prescription refills. The pharmacy staff was so helpful thy they answered all my questions and even helped me out with a tetanus booster shot. Meanwhile, my doctor didn't issue a prescription for my prenatal and Lily called me that evening insuring me that they have the prescription now from my doctor but since it's a new prenatal vitamins that they will have it available tomorrow for me. I appreciated the phone call and care that I received today. Thank you so much! read more

Oxtail meat is sold here. No, need to drive to Costco in Lynnwood for this specialty meat. The self check out machines are good but are taking away jobs from the cashiers and baggers. The mini shopping carts are ideal for those quick jaunts to the supermarket. The larger carts are older and super dirty. A power wash company needs to approach Safeway and clean those dirty carts. read more

Customer service absolutely SUCKS ASS!!! Their solution to understaffing? Shorten the hours on the customers! Yes, that's the solution. What a bunch of lazy people. They used to sometimes close customer service early (this was the only one open until 9pm in the area that I know of, now knew of!). 1) it's Dec 12, winter hasn't officially started yet 2) don't people need customer service in the winter still? 3) who ever heard of winter hours at Safeway customer service anyway??? I am a disabled veteran, and she listened to my concern and helped me with my insurance, and called my doctor to find a comparable medication that I wasn't allergic too, I have not found someone so caring in a long time. So I have been shopping here off and on/not every month, for more than a few years now. Sure they have sweets and soda and cereal and all that. Sure they have decent bulk foods, eggs, frozen foods, all that stuff... I had a little chat with the meat department today. Apparently, they don't check sell by dates (all that closely I guess) for meat/poultry/seafood, etc. coming from brands that AREN'T their own. What kind of NONSENSE IS THAT???? Only checking sell by dates for Safeway store brands??? When does expired meat GET PULLED in that place, FROM OTHER BRANDS?????? It is REALLY all that difficult/time consuming, to look over what is being sold every day, to make sure the dates are all ok??? Is Safeway RELYING on their customers to check this on their own?? What the ACTUAL HELL??? But Safeway gets 2 stars because their other departments are fine. Customer Service desk experience was humiliating. I had a voucher and was instructed previously to take it to the Custome Service station first. I did that, and the woman who was there was cold and rude. I'm still a human even though times are tough. I've worked very hard for decades and have paid real estate taxes on multiple proprties. I'm getting some of what I paid in during this time of need. But even if I wasn't able to work hard for so long, I don't deserve to be treated with disrespect. Update DO NOT SHOP HERE they do not sanitize their carts. The lead sanitizer just pushed all the dirty carts into the clean area without cleaning them. Their deli lady's need to get it together. I was standing there and had Jennifer walk to back and totally ignore me and not help me or ask if I needed help when I was clearly waiting to be helped....there was another lady with curly hair and glasses and she sat there and kept looking at me and didn't help me until I said can I get some help up here. She acted like i was asking for so much and interrupting her. I've worked customer service pretty sure your are suppose to atleast make eye contact with waiting customer and tell them you will be right with them if you are busy. Then you stop where you can and help them. Also the lady didn't wash her hands before helping me with my food when she was just in back handling dirty dishes. That is against health code. I recently purchased some things from the Deli. Blanca, the Deli Manager is very rude. Not only was she blasting orders around to the other deli staff, she was extremely rude to me, and I can only assume she's like this all of the time. I am never going back. This is not my first experience with absolute rude behaviour from Safeway employees. Dee is a self-check out manager. Dee treated her station as if it were her living room, and customers are unwanted pesky guests that she couldn't wait to get rid of. (Dee sits in a chair and has that nosy neighbor look). I was at self check out today at 4:30 PM. The lady that was assisting customers,she had blonde hair, I don't know what kind of bad day she had but she had a bad customer service attitude. My red light was blinking she came over to assist, then I told her that I couldn't seem to scan my club card. She didn't listen and just walked away. When I continued to try to check out and pay I still couldn't scan my club card . So I looked to the right and she was right there ready to walk back to her stand! I called out "Mam ? Exscuse me ? " (politely) ... But she just did what she did and went back to her stand without looking at me. So I thought she couldn't hear me. So while she was at her stand assisting another customer , I decided to walk over to her instead. Turns out without even looking up, she said" I know I heard you I'm helping out another customer right now!!!!" So if she heard me the first time why did she not even respond or act like she heard me? Why did she have to be so rude? I don't know what kind of bad day she had. But I bet everyone has a hard day once in a while. But at customer service I've had a lot better service than this woman I've ever met. I have shopped here for 30 years and it has degraded so much recently I am going to have to start shopping someplace else. You go in at 6:30pm and the shelves are missing many products: yoghurt, organic bananas and many deli items. And they have one worker for the deli service with many people waiting to be served. The plaza includes a Rite Aid, Liquor Store (recent addition), and Safeway gas station - nice combo. Also a pizza place I have never had food from. This is the worse customer service at a Safeway. Their so called curb-side delivery is a joke. Other Safeway stores don't have any problems, but of course Kenmore does. 1. No dedicated parking space for curb-side delivery. 2. There are signs advertising curb-side, but no dedicated phone number to alert Kenmore employees that you have arrived. 3. Sign has a dot com of general Safeway address, nothing dedicated for Kenmore store. 4. So called parking spaces, since not marked as dedicated, were full. 5. When I called the general Kenmore number I was transferred to a young man who could barely breathe, much less listen to where I was parked (in front of the store by floral department). The big tall kid didn't listen to what color car was, a red SUV with back tailgate up! He couldn't find me for 20 minutes. So I went in, to find my 82 year old mothers groceries, and the kid was whining to his manager? She did not identify herself like an adult. When I was in my 20's I worked as a checker, it is not brain surgery. Thrasher's Corner Safeway, Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer's have dedicated phone numbers, emails and parking spaces. Organized, efficient and very very quick. I told the mgr? that the dumb kid needed to be moved to dairy, maybe stocking is his future, as customer service is not. Going back to Thrasher's Corner Safeway, I sick of Kenmore's constant screw ups and excuses. I've had problems with Kenmore in the past, I don't want my ol mom getting sick, because some idiot can't find a red car with the back up parked in front of the door!!! read more

I don't understand the low reviews of this Safeway. I think it's a great location and a great store. Has everything I am looking for and staff on the floor always offer help in a non-hovering way. One thing I noticed about the low reviews was just whiny assholes that probably got spoiled as a child more likely. Oooohh the self checkout doesn't work....whaaaaa, or staff seem annoyed, well most likely these customers haven't worked retail and if they have they are being hypocritical assholes. Anyway, this location is great. I even found one of my old highschool best friends I have been looking for, for a long time and she works here. Have been coming here my whole life in Kenmore. But now this store is always under stocked, shelves empty,my products that I purchase are never available. Very frustrating. I have tried different hours,early a.m.,noon middle of night, shelves are not stocked any longer. I get my meats and most produce from other grocery stores and stopped by to check out their organic and gluten-free food selection. They had options I could not find at Whole Foods or PCC, such as Annie's snickerdoodle gluten-free cookies and vanilla sandwich cookies (plus some other options I'm interested in trying out). Also carry gluten-free bread by Franz and another brand about $1 less than the other stores, as well as gluten free tortillas (made in part with TEFF flour). The organic produce was hit and miss, but the prices were competitive with the above-mentioned stores. Strawberries were ripe to perfection, the bananas ripened quick (maybe because it's getting warmer?), and the fuji apples tasted great but a couple were going bad at the core. Still the gluten-free section surprised me so I'll keep coming back for that reason. read more
