With a few minutes extra time on my hands this afternoon, Thursday 26 February 2026, I decided to…read morestop by Ballinger Thriftway and check it out. I was unsure of the offerings by the name and that I had not been before and found it to be groceries and household items. The diversity of offered items was depth within a particular item space. Seasonal items were also well presented. Looking for cards, I found some though they were on the pricey side per my experience. Looking to see it they had a small candy item, I found good variety and prices in the chocolate bar options. I chose a dark chocolate Chocolove chilies and cherries item that was less than $3.50. Checking out/payment was straightforward to navigate/use and the workers were quick and friendly.

The one positive thing I have to say about this store is they have very beautiful produce and that…read moreis the one and only reason why I continue to go there... The prices are insanely high, they are even higher than PCC for many items. The people that work there are a mix, some are super friendly and nice, but there are a couple weirdos that work there that make me turn around if I walk in and see it's only them working at the registers. Their names are Jimmie and Sam. Sam sells chocolate bars he makes at the store, or the store sells them? Any way, I don't eat chocolate bars or dairy and they are made with milk chocolate. And they are $7. I think it's great to support people, but I won't eat the chocolate bars and the store is already too expensive, so I'm not going to buy it and there is SO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUY THE CHOCOLATE. And Sam has a major attitude because I don't want to buy the stupid chocolate bars. Very passive aggressive. With rising costs everywhere the last thing I want is to be pressured to buy something I don't want at a grocery store when I'm just struggling to survive. And Jimmie is just a major weirdo. There are also a few older ladies that always have an attitude for no apparent. I'm a very friendly and polite person, but I'm also the customer so I shouldn't be the one greeting them and telling them to have a nice day while they basically tell me to f*** off. It's very much a small town vibe and I feel like an outsider the shouldn't be there. I am very grateful for Grocery Outlet opening near by so I mostly go there for last minute items and I avoid Thriftway at all costs because I don't want to be pressured into buying the stupid gross chocolate or deal with weirdos with attitude.

It was actually nice that it was the first and closest thing to me when I walked in the doors. The cold section, where they dish you up the amount of food you want, was a little smaller than most delis but they had all the key, typical food that you would be looking for anyway In fact they had two chicken salads that you don't typically see in deli's and they were both delicious. The cranberry and pecan chicken salad, as well as another one that I now can't remember. Both employees were away from the counter working but we're paying close attention to see if customers approached the counter which is really nice since often times at delis they have a tendency to kind of ignore you until you can somehow get their attention or they decide they're done with their current task So one of the employees came right over. I needed to know if the two salads had any gluten in them and he did not know since he said he doesn't typically work at the counter but he offered to go and find out, which he quickly did and was able to actually print out the ingredients so I could also see for myself and not have any doubts. He was so extremely and genuinely friendly, and happy to help. Such a nice change from most customer service these days. I complimented him on his service and told him I recommend he actually work at the counter because he was so good with customers. The other nice thing was that he was quick and everything that he did rather than just taking his time like many deli people do. Which I appreciated since I was so so so hungry I wish I would have gotten his name so he could get credit for his customer service and attitude and efficiency and effectiveness. He was very tall, white, thin...oh and he had a tattoo under his left eye of two arrows. That should help someone know who he is and hopefully give him kudos. So I was able to quickly use the self check out and be on my way. The deli area was also very clean and organized. So I would absolutely return just for the deli itself

Whenever I had gone into a restaurant supply type of store, there are certain things that should be…read morein stock so that folks who need to cook can reliably support their menus. I benefitted from stores who would keep certain food items in stock so that if I would need that ingredient, I could easily grab it, pay for it, and then hurry back to cook. This particular store on 204th Street has become quite a repeated disappointment, because too much lately I come into this store, and they are out of the coffee that I need, seafood items I need to cook, and stocking their shelves happens, maybe yes, or it's empty. I asked for granulated onion, and there was NONE. I looked for meat and seafood bases, and they were either missing, or I grabbed the one last remaining one. Once I bought a 5 lb bag of IQF peeled, deveined shrimp without tail. I went back, there was none like it ever after my first purchase of the shrimp. I remember I had bought breaded oysters, and after coming back, there were none, I mean gone forever. I have also gone to restaurant supply houses that carry pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. This store had never had them that I can recall, Inventory control is a mess in this store. They need to keep a close record of what moves from the shelves, and then re-order accordingly. Having full shelves is a far better shopping experience than frequently empty shelves. Perhaps I will need to drive all the way down to the Broadview neighborhood store. It's a long drive from North Lynnwood, but I am getting sick and tired of shopping at this particular store.

Prices very reasonable excellent selection. Great bulk prices. I recommend this location and i…read morewould shop here again. Great personality of the cashier. Good produce, fresh. Non dairy milk prices average. Great establishment to shop at if you own your own business or restaurant.
